CHAPTER ONE.

MICHELLE’s POV.

With trembling hands, I collect the paper from the doctor and continue to stare back at it. I was not expecting what he said a few minutes ago. How can I be pregnant? Was this some kind of joke? He said I couldn’t get pregnant right? I have been trying for two years now and my efforts yielded superfluous dejections so this is why the result in my hand has me trembling.

Three years of being the Luna of my pack has got me trying to produce an heir to the legendary pack of the shadow warriors but I could not.

My husband, Alpha Nicholas would be so happy to hear this news. After all, we have been trying together.

When I was just sixteen years old; my mate manifested himself.

I worked at the pack kitchen with my aunt after my father and my mother died from a pack war when trying to save Nicholas and since then, aunt decided to just make meals for the pack house.

On that fateful day, I found out that Nicholas was my mate and I was damn too excited, he was the talk of many. What made me more excited was the fact that he also showed interest in me and during my eighteen years birthday, we had our mark and mate ceremony. For three years, Nicholas has made me feel like the best woman on earth, he was the most loving husband and I can not wait to share this good news with him.

“Are you sure of what you are saying, doctor?” I want to be sure I heard him correctly even with the papers in my hands.

“Of course Luna” he answers, “you are three weeks pregnant, congratulations”

My lips curl into a bright smile, of course I am pregnant. Finally, I can see a much bigger smile on Nicholas’s face.

“Thank you so much, doctor Bane” I say after a while, “I will take my leave now”

“I will send you a diet so you can focus on that, it will be good for the development of the baby”

“Thank you so much”

As I walk out of the office, the smile on my face grew wider, I am of course the happiest Luna on earth now. The moon goddess has finally decided to smile on me, I can not contain my excitement.

I take out my phone to call him but decide against it, he could be in a meeting or he could be busy. Maybe it is best I tell him this myself. I can already feel the jitters, this is definitely the best day of my life.

As I get to the car, my driver opens the door gently and bows while I enter the car and in no time, he zooms off.

“Are we on our way home, Luna?” He asks from the driver’s seat.

“Let us go grocery shopping” I tell him, “I want to make all of Nick’s favorite meals today”

His forehead creases into a slight frown, “but the master has said not to enter the kitchen Luna”

“Don’t worry, Ben” I let out a light chuckle, “it is for a good cause”

With this, I close my eyes and place my head on the headrest. I can not wait to share this news with Nicholas, he will definitely be the happiest man alive. My heart is pounding fast, I am way too excited to even hide it.

The moment we get home, I have a quick shower and make my way to the kitchen. It is a few minutes past four and I know Nicholas will be back soon, he might stop by the pack house to check out a few things. The pack house was just a few blocks away from our mansion. One of the most exquisite buildings I have ever seen in my life, Nick put his whole life into designing it and it is simply the best. One could call this…heaven.

“Good evening Luna” the cooks greet me as I saunter into the kitchen.

“I will make Nicholas’s dinner tonight” I tell them, “you can retire of the day”

“But the master has warned us not to let you touch anything Luna” one of them chips in, “remember what happened the last time? You cut your finger and he almost had our heads on a platter”

I chuckle at her statement, I know why she is so scared. Nicholas is the most ruthless and gruesome person on earth so I know why they are all scared of him. The only person who he smiles and laughs with is me, the others get his stoic personality.

“Not to worry, I will be careful this time around”

As soon as I send them out, I start to make dinner with all excitement. I can not wait for Nick to finally come home, the news is too hard for me to keep now.

It is a few minutes past five when I hear the front door unlock and his scent whiff into my nose and my face breaks into a smile when I hear his heavy strides making towards the kitchen.

There he is, the man I married. Nicholas has a scowl on his face when he sees me covered in dough and he balls his hand into a fist while scrunching up his forehead.

“I told you not to cook right?” He asks me, his face is devoid of any kind of emotions, “why don’t you ever listen?”

“Will you scold me?” A pout appears on my lips, “I was trying hard to make dinner for you”

“I told you to let the cooks do their work” he scolds and for a moment, I am taken aback. I finally noticed he didn’t look like he is in a good mood.

“Are you okay?” I finally ask him, he looks a bit uneasy and upset, what could be the reason? Maybe a deal didn’t work out?

“Let the cook do their work, Michelle” he retorts and I stop right in my tracks. This is the first time in three years that he is calling me by my name. What exactly is going on with him?

“What….” The words hang in my throat when I hear the clicking of heels on our marble floor and before I can say anything, she appears behind him. His fucking ex girlfriend is standing right behind him, it feels like my whole world had come to a standstill, how can he even bring her here now?

“What is going on here?” I can’t help but ask him, “why is she here?”

“Hey, Mish” a coy smile is gracing her lips and how I want to smack it off, how dare she come into my home without my permission?

“Nicholas?” I ignore her and return my attention to my husband, “what is going on here?

“It has been a while, Mish” she continues to talk to me again but I also continue to ignore her with my attention on my husband.

“I asked a question, Nick”

“She will be staying here for a while” he answers and before I can even say anything again, he turns around and walks away leaving the two of us to stare back at each other.

“I can see you are making dinner” Natalia says after a while and I roll my eyes at her before going after Nicholas. I am aware he is the leader of the pack and can do as he pleases but he can not bring a total stranger into our home without giving me a proper explanation for that.

The moment I enter the room, he was removing his shirt from his body and he did not even bother to spare me another glance. For the three years we have been together, Nicholas always made sure to give me a welcome kiss and allowed me to help me remove his clothes but today, he is acting very different from the man I know and it is kind of worrisome for me, he was never like this.

“Nick..” I call out to him from the door.

“I had a hectic day at the office, Mish” he retorts, “I am not in the mood to talk to anyone right now”

“I think I deserve an explanation for what is going on here, Nick” I walk up to him, now the news of my pregnancy was somewhere in my head. I want to share it with him but with the way he is behaving, I decide to hold myself for a while. I wanted to share it when the two of us were alone.

“What is wrong with you, Nicholas? What are you so upset about? I mean, I am your Luna, isn’t it right that you discussed this matter with me before bringing your ex-girlfriend to the house? This isn’t some charity organization and…

“Cut it out, Michelle” he cut me shot, his eyes staring back at me, “I am in no mood for this”

I open my mouth to talk again when my eyes travel to the paper peeking out of his suit pocket. My curiosity sky rocket, why is there a single piece of paper in his pocket? Nick was a thorough man.

“Nick, I still think you should…

“Michelle!!!!” He thunders and I flinch, holding onto my stomach in the process. Unknowingly, I am afraid of hurting the baby inside of me.

“Didn’t he tell you?” Natalia’s voice filter into my ear as she appears by the door, “we wanted to keep this a secret but you have become so inquisitive since the last time I saw you, Mish”

A scowl appears on my forehead as I purse my lips, what exactly is this mad girl talking about now?

“Natalia” Nicholas calls out to her, “I will talk to her myself”

“But it seems you can not do it, alpha” she replies and I get more confused the more. What exactly is going on between the two of them and what secret conversations are they holding?

“And i said I will talk to her myself” Nick retorts, “take some rest”

“Of course”

With one last glance, Natalia walks away while I return my focus to Nick who is now sitting on the bed.

“Here” he pulls out the paper from his suit.

I didn’t hesitate to collect it and when I open it, my heart sink to my knees. It is boldly written, “divorce agreement” and Nick’s signature is already stamped boldly on it.

“What is this?” I am too stunned to even complete my statement, “what…..” my voice trails off as tears well up in my eyes, what rubbish is this?

“Let’s get a divorce, Michelle” Nicholas drops the bombshell and i almost collapse to the ground but because of the little life growing inside of me, I hold myself. Wasn’t I excited about telling him we had a baby coming on the way? How did the table turn so fast, why?….

“Nicholas, you”

He cut me short, “I have already signed and I have spoken to my lawyers. You will get as much alimony as you may possibly want, that is not an issue. Just sign the papers so we can proceed”

“Are you being serious right now?” I can’t help but ask him, “we have been together for three years and now you just want to divorce me? I have been your Luna for three years Nick, we…”

“A Luna I never loved” he flares up as he shoots out of bed, “I have had my fair share of torture with you, Mish. I no longer want you in my life. This is the end for you now”

Despite the pain, I can't help but scoff. I am aware of how ruthless Nick was but I didn’t know I would ever see that side of him. He treats me like I am the most fragile human on earth and now..

“Nicholas” I walk up to him and gently grab his arm, “you know we can talk about this right? Whatever is going on in your mind, we can discuss it. Did I do something wrong?

Did I…”

“Just sign the papers, Mish” he growls, “I am not in the mood to exchange words with you”

After he is done, he walks out of the room again.

I follow him out of the bedroom and I come to a sudden halt when my eyes catch the lady standing in front of him just outside our door.

By now Natalia is clad in a pair of see through nightwear and I can see her underwear clearly. What exactly is she doing? How can she.. I rake my fingers through my hair, this sister of mine has always been shameless.

Yes, Natalia is my sister. Infact, my elder sister. I can’t deny the fact that she and Nicholas had a thing before I manifested as his mate but she was not the best person in the world. Even before I became acquainted with him, Natalia and I had never been in a good relationship. She hated the fact that I was born with the powers of my parents combined. Mother was a powerful priestess of her wolf clan while father was the strongest beta after the then alpha. I inherited my mother’s powers, I could heal wounds, I could commune with the moon goddess, I could spot an enemy right on while I got the strength of my father. I didn’t entirely rely on Nicholas to save me, I was capable of saving myself but this was only known to me, not even Nick knew. Only Natalia knew and we both swore an oath never to tell anyone, whoever did will die.

This oath was as strong as a wolf bond and mother oversaw it herself and that made Natalia angry, the fact that she couldn’t tell my husband. I was wise enough not to tell her the oath became invalid when mother died.

After I manifested myself as Nicholas’s mate, I had a huge fight with Natalia and she left after the whole clan accepted me, even his immediate family. None of them liked her anyways and they didn’t see her as a Luna for him, I was more close to his family, his mother and his sister to be precise.

And now, Natalia is back in our lives again and truthfully, things are not looking good.

“Baby!” Her voice jolts me out of my reverie of thoughts, “can I sleep on your bed tonight? I missed it and I won’t be able to fall asleep without you by my side anyways” her lips are curled into a smirk.

What nonsense is she talking about now? How dare she?

“Of course, princess” Nicholas answers much to my amazement and I open my eyes wide, what did he call her?

“Nick….”

“I am back to collect what is mine, Michelle” Natalia says as she grabs onto his arm, “rest assured”

“Nicholas..” I try to touch him but he shoves me off, luckily I did not fall.

“My lawyers will be here tomorrow morning, make sure to sign the papers”

Under my gaze, she leads him towards her room and they both shut the door so loud that I flinch and held onto my tummy for protection.

CHAPTER TWO

I gently open my eyes as the gloomy day dawns upon me. Last night was the most terrifying day of my life and I badly wanted to think it was a dream but here I am on the bed with Nicholas’s side cold and unlaid.

Tears well up in my eyes but I try to push it to the back of my head, the divorce papers are lying on the table beside me while the pregnancy report is just by the side. One contained my happiness and the other contained my pain. My three years of marriage have come crashing to the ground with a loud bang, I feel like a weakling.

I grab the divorce papers again and stare down at it, the words are dancing before my eyes. The fact that Nick’s signature is staring back at me makes everything so unbearable. Did he even hesitate before signing this? Did he even have a second thought before penning down his signature? A lot is going on in my head as I continue to look at the papers in my hand. I can no longer contain the tears and it hurts so much, I can feel my legs go weak.

Dropping the paper back on the table, I pull my body out of bed and make my way towards the bathroom. As I enter, my own reflection catches my attention. I look like a shadow of my former self just in one day. In one day, Nicholas had made me a laughing stock to the demons that haunt me. How will I be able to face the world outside?

I turn on the shower and allow the water to run down my body. Maybe the stench of my shame will be reduced by the time the water rushes down my body but the more it pours, the more the tears come running leaving me trembling with pain and agony. We were supposed to be talking and discussing about our baby but Nick didn’t even know I am pregnant for him, he didn’t even realize I am carrying the heir to the pack, he didn’t.

After half an hour, I finally come out of the shower and force myself to get dressed. I put on a pair of denim and a T-shirt while leaving my hair in a messy bun. Finally, I make my way out of the confines of my room to the wickedness of the outside world.

“Good morning Luna” the housekeeper, Grace greets as she comes across me.

“Where is Nickolas?” I ask her.

“He is having breakfast with Natalia” she answers and a new kind of pain envelopes me. For the past three years, Nick had not had breakfast without me. We always ate together and now he is eating with her?

“Okay” I make to walk away but Grace halts me again.

“You look so pale, Luna” she says, “are you not feeling fine?”

“Just go about your work, Grace” I am definitely not in the mood to talk to anyone and with that, I make my way down the stairs and the silent chuckle of Natalia reaches my ears.

Bracing myself, I walk down to the dinning room and they were having breakfast and laughing out loud.

The moment I enter, their attention turns to me and I can see an evil smirk dangling at the base of her lips.

“Hey” Natalia’s voice filter into my ear, “come, join us for breakfast”

“Can we talk?” I turn to Nick, “I have something to discuss

with you”

“I have a meeting at the office” he tells me, “I don’t have time to talk to you”

“Since when?” I raise an eyebrow at him, “do you even know what I want to talk to you about?”

“He said he has a meeting at the office, Mish” Natalia butts in, “why don’t you listen?”

“I was definitely not talking to you”

“Have you signed the papers?” His words reach my ear and I am a bit confused, isn’t he supposed to be taking my side?

“Nick, you…”

He glances at me for a moment and returns his focus on Natalia.

“I will be on my way now”

Pushing his chair back, he picks up his jacket and makes his way out of the room without sparing me another glance.

My chest tightens as I watch him walk out of the house leaving the two of us to ourselves, when did everything go wrong?

“You seem not to understand the writing on the wall, Mish” Natalia tries to talk but i roll my eyes at him and follow Nicholas out of the house.

He is just about to open the car door when I walk up to him and place myself before him.

“Nick..”

“For fucksake, let me be, Michelle” he half yells while balling his hand into a fist, “i fucking have a meeting and I have to be on my way”

“Do you think you are doing the right thing? We have been married for three years and you think it is cool for you to just throw everything away?”

“It was a marriage of convenience” he blurts in my face making me, “you will get everything you need so just sign the fucking papers”

“So you never loved me?”

He scoffs at my statement, “no alpha genuinely loves his mate, Mish. It is all to fulfill righteousness and not to forget, Natalid and I had a thing before you came into the picture”

With that, he opens the car door and in no time, his car zooms off leaving me standing looking like a fool.

The tears I was struggling to contain comes bursting out of me, I can not hold it. His words cut through my soul and I can feel my chest tighten again. Three years all gone to the wind.

“I didn’t know you to be a desperate one, Mish” her voice filters into my ear again and I turn my head to her direction.

“You sure have some nerve to show up at my house, Natalia. You know what I am capable of doing and yet you dare to come into my home. Aren’t you scared?”

Natalia scoffs while crossing her hands over the other,

“I totally agree with you, Michelle” she retorts, “I might not have the powers you possess but I have the man you want, my dear sis. Three years ago you made me leave him for you and now, I am here to take him back. Why do you have a problem with that?”

“This won’t be the last of it, Nat”

“Let us wait and see” an evil smirk appears on her face, “I think you should pack up and leave before he comes back. I have a good news to share with him and I don’t want you near him”

Natalia places her hands on her tummy,

“You know, I have a little life growing inside of me”

I freeze for a few seconds, I am trying to figure out what she means

“What did you say?” I finally find my voice.

“I am pregnant, Mish” she finally drops the bombshell.

“What?

This can only mean one thing, she has been meeting Nicholas long before now and that means he has been cheating on me with her. My chest tightens again, Nicholas has been cheating on me.

“So now you know that I didn’t just come of my own accord right? I have been fucking your husband, Mish”

After she is done, Natalia turns around and walks away leaving me to myself.

“No!!!!” I yell at the top of my voice and stump to the ground, my tears continue to fall in torrent. Nicholas has made a mockery of our relationship and our bond. I can feel the threads of our relationship breaking into the tiniest bits, this shouldn’t be happening.

“Luna” one of the househelps walks up to me as I am still sprawled on the ground, “are you fine?”

Without saying anything, I pull myself up and sniff back a tear, Nick had a lot of explaining to do.

“Welcome ma’am” the receptionist greets me as I saunter into the building, people are trooping in and out of the building.

Being one of the most successful automobile companies, Nicholas had no equal. His companies were spread across the world and he was one ambitious man, feared and respected among many with thousands of enemies as well.

Aside from that, being the alpha king gave him more power and edge over others, he is a phenomenal one but that didn’t mean he could cheat on me and refuse to give me any explanation.

“Where is Nicholas?”

“He is in a meeting ma’am”

Without saying anything, I make my way towards his private elevator and in no time, I am on my way to the conference room.

The moment I throw the door open, all eyes turn on me but I only have my gaze only on one person, the man in the middle.

“I am here to talk to you, Nick”

He rolls his eyes and leans back on his chair.

“Michelle, can’t you see I am in the middle of a meeting?”

“This can not wait”

Letting out a sigh, he gestures for them to leave and in no time, the two of us are alone in the office.

“Since when did you start interrupting my meetings, Mish?” His deep and husky voice reaches my ear. For a moment I don’t say anything, I just continue to look at him. Nicholas was seven years older than me but he is the most handsome man I have ever seen in my whole life. Everything about him intrigues me but the fact that he bedded my sister makes me nauseous. The stench of their love making is almost so choking for me, I find it hard to even breath in front of him.

“Did you cheat on me, Nick” I go straight to the point, “you had a wife at home, a mate which you are bound to for the rest of your life and you went ahead to sleep with my sister?”

“So?” His face is expressionless, “is that why you had to stop my meeting?”

“What?”

“Sign the papers Michelle” he continues to speak, “we are done. I am getting married to Natalia and she will become the Luna of the pack, the same pack you so much love. We have nothing in common anymore, I reject you as my mate”

My heart shatters into a thousand pieces the moment his words reach my ear, I can feel the bond breaking and my wolf howling in my head. Everything inside of me is in a great turmoil. I begin to feel dizzy and my legs almost give way but I hold myself, I can not give up now. I have a child growing inside of me, I must be careful.

“Breaking a bond we used three years to build, is that very easy for you?”

“You are forcing me to say things to you, Mish”

“What?”

“Why did you tell Natalia that I am unable to father a child so she should leave?”

“What?”

“Did you or did you not stop her from attending the wedding? You had her locked up and beaten, is that a lie?”

“Did you actually believe what she said?”

“Answer me!!!!” He bellows and I gulp.

“Yes, I had her locked up but it was because…

Nicholas shoots out of his chair in anger and begins to take slow steps towards me, his eyes darkening at the sight of me.

“You have got guts, Michelle. I took you as my Luna and you betrayed me?”

“But I am your wife”

“A wife i have divorced” he yells, “you disgust me, Mish. I hate you, I hate you so bad that I feel like sniffing the life out of you. I have a child growing in her womb, that is enough evidence that you have been toying with me for the past three years”

“I have a child in my womb too” I want to tell him but I hold myself. Right now, he is not even worth it.

“So you better do the needful and get the hell out of my face, you disgust me”

Pain and anger envelopes me, I pull out the paper from my bag and slam it on the table.

“I will not sign these papers, Nick” I yell at the top of my lungs, “I can not let Natalia reap where she did not sow,

I….” My words trail off when he grabs my throat and pushes me against the wall, his eyes spitting venom of hate and anger towards me.

“The only reason why you are still alive in front of me is because we are acquainted, Michelle. But if you dare say a word against the woman I love, I will make you pay”

“You think your family will accept her? Do you think the pack will accept a Luna who is self centered and doesn’t care about anyone else but herself?”

“The pack doesn’t need to accept her” he replies, “I accept her, she is my Luna and will be the mother to my son. So you better leave before I get angry”

He shoves me off and I grab onto my tummy to protect my feotus from getting hurt.

“Now get out of my office”

I don’t bother to say anything anymore, he has shown me exactly who he was. I lived with a monster for three years and this is the repercussions of my actions.

Glancing back at him for the last time, I walk out of the office and the tears fall again.

I still find it hard to believe that Nick is the same man I married. Right from time, I have always admired him for the way he ruled and made decisions. Everyone in the pack respected him and no one dared to go against him, I loved that about him. Nicholas ruled with an iron fist but he made sure to shower me with all the love he could give. How could I have known that he was only toying with my emotions? How could I have known that I was just a pawn on the chessboard?

As soon as the elevator closes, I slump on the floor In tears while clutching to my stomach. The pain in my heart can not be compared to anything that has ever happened to me. He made me feel like I was the most foolish person on earth.

“Stop crying” my wolf advises me, “you are not in the position to cry. You have the heir to the pack growing inside of you”

I bury my head on my thighs as hard bitter tears continue to pour out of my eyes that I didn’t hear my phone ring.

It continues to ring until I hear it and when I see the caller ID, my heart skips a beat. It was the doctor.

Sniffing back tears, I pick up the phone and press it against my ear.

“Hello” I try as much as possible to avoid alerting him that I was crying.

“Mrs Michelle” his voice reaches my ear, “I have just detected something weird in your reports”

My heart skips a beat, was my baby okay?”

“Tell me, what happened?”

“Your babies are in a bad situation” he answers, “you have a tumor growing directly opposite your womb”

My forehead creases into a frown,

“What do you mean doctor?”

“Your triplets are at risk of getting infected with the tumor growing inside of you, I will suggest an abortion immediately”

CHAPTER THREE.

MICHELLE’s POV.

As soon as the doctor’s words filter into my ears as I sit in front of him , my heart skips a beat. This is not the kind of news I am expecting, how can my baby be in danger now when i just conceived. My heart is shattered into a thousand pieces and I can feel the tears falling from my eyes.

“You need to put yourself together, Luna” the doctor says again and I sniff back a tear. I need to be strong, this is not the time for me to cry. Crying won’t solve what I am already going through.

“Tell me” I finally find my voice, “what are the chances?”

“Well” he leans forward towards me, “the tumor can be managed with medication but i am not sure for how long ma’am”

“I will keep the baby” I announce and a small frown appears on his face.

“What do you mean? Didn’t you hear me, Luna ? A tumor is..

I immediately interrupt him, “I have been craving a child for the past three years, doctor and I can not throw these ones away because of a tumor. Since it can be managed by medecine, I will go with that. My baby should be given a chance to live right?” I force a smile on my face and my mind drifts off to Nicholas for a moment. He is supposed to be here with me, he is supposed to be giving me the emotional support that I need but instead he chooses to stay with her and now.

I clean the tears falling down my eyes and force my smile to widen.

“I do not know for how long we have to rely on the medication, Mrs Michelle”

“I am willing to take the risk” I tell him, “I am willing to do anything and everything to protect this baby . Please help me” at this moment, I don’t care if I am the almighty Luna of our pack. I just want my baby to be fine and that’s all”

“Okay then” he finally agrees, “if you are willing to take the risk, I am willing to help you all the way.

“But one thing” it suddenly occurs to me, “you must not mention anything about my pregnancy or the tumor to Nicholas”

“Why, Luna?” The frown on his forehead intensifies, “I think your husband ought to know”

“I am ordering you as your Luna, doctor. You can not breathe a word of this to him, okay?”

He lets out a heavy sigh, “I will do as you say, ma’am”

“Hmmm”

Bracing myself, I push my body out of the chair before sniffing back another set of new tears that forms In my eyes.

A lot is going on in my head but I have no one to share it with. Just one day and my sister has ruined everything for me.

“I will take my leave now and I will keep in touch”

Saying that, I make my way out of the office and slump on the chair just outside the office.

It feels like my whole world has come to a standstill and I am about to lose everything I have worked for for the past three years. How can Nicholas do this to me? How can he make a mockery of me in such a way?

“Until when will you keep beating yourself up?” My wolf asks inside of me but I completely ignore it and bury my head in between my palms. I am already feeling nauseous and dizzy, I just don’t know what to do.

“You should go and talk to Nicholas” my wolf tells me again, “he needs to know what is at stake”

I sniff back a tear, maybe it was right. I need to talk to him, I need to speak to him.

With this at the back of my mind, I spring up from the chair and make my way outside where my car is parked.

“To Nicholas’s office” I tell my chauffeur and he nods before zooming off.

“Nicholas..” my voice trails off when I push the door open and I find the two of them in the most compromising position ever. Natalia is sitting on his glass table while Nicholas’s hands are wrapped around her waist and they are both kissing. I almost lose my footing seeing them like this but I hold onto the door frame and steady myself.

The two of them gently pull away from each other and I can see how disappointed he looks when his gaze rests upon me.

“Can you not knock?” Natalia inquires while rolling her eyes at me.

“Is this what you are doing?” I can’t help but ask, “I have not even signed the divorce papers and you are already doing this in the office?”

Nicholas gently holds onto her hand and smiles at her,

“This is the cue for you to sign the papers dumbass' ' he growls, “and I will not be asking you anymore. I have already asked the servants to prepare your luggage and I have sent a hundred million dollars to your account. You can stay in the house in Beverly Hills until you want to move out. I think I have done more than enough for the relationship we have shared for three years. Michelle” his eyes are full of hatred towards me and tears well up in my eyes. How did everything go wrong?

“I have a baby growing inside of me” I also want to yell, “our baby is on the verge of dying” I want to tell him but seeing how lovey dovey he is with Natalia, I can not help but feel disgusted. It is so easy for him to let go of everything we have shared for the past three years. Guess he never loved me.

“I think you should sign the papers now, Michelle” Natalia tells me, “haven’t you been humiliated enough? What more do you want?”

Sniffing back a tear, I throw my bag open and bring out the papers.

Pressing them on the table, I scribble my signature on it and leave it on the table.

“I have always looked up to you Nicholas” I start to talk, “but I can see that you were not worth it even from the beginning. I did everything to make this relationship work but I guess..

“You don’t need to talk much” Nat continues, “no one actually needs your lectures”

I smile through tears, “I can not say I wish you happiness because I hope your life is full of problems and pains for what the two of you have done to me”

Not bothering to wait for any of their responses, i turn around and walk out of the office. The tears are falling in torrent but it is the end now. I have lost everything I have worked so hard for.

Just as I get to the door, her voice reaches my ear again.

“If you at that angry, you shouldn’t take what Nicholas is offering you” her voice is lace with mockery and sarcasm,

“I mean he gave you more than enough for three years”

“I do not need anything from him” i turn to look at him for a moment, his eyes glued to the lady in front of him, which breaks my heart the most.

Sniffing back pain and tear, I slam the door close behind me. The pain is too much for me to bear, in feels like I am about to lose my life. The pain in my chest was too much and I can not breathe.

“Luna '' my driver calls as I walk to the car, “are you okay! Don’t you feel fine?”

“Adrian” I gently call out his name, “can you book a hotel for me?”

His face scrunches up, he is definitely confused.

“But..

“Do as I have said Adrian” I tell him, “I really need all the rest I can get now”

“Of course Luna”

He helps me into the car and in no time he zooms out of the premises.

As I press my head against the headrest and close my eyes, the tears continue to fall.

CHAPTER FOUR

MICHELLE’s POV.

As soon as I lower myself on the bed, my mobile begins to beep. Seeing it was one of Nicholas’s lawyers, I let out a heavy sigh before clicking on the receive button.

“Hello”

“Madam, sir Nicholas sent over the divorce papers via email. I think we should meet and discuss how to settle this. He want to add more alimony for you”

“You can go ahead and process it. Mind you, I am not in need of the alimony, he can keep his money for all I care”

“Why don’t you tell me your location, I will come over”

“You don’t have to meet me, Mr Smith” I tell him, “just do as Nicolas has told you, I am not in the mood to meet anyone from his side.

I immediately end the call and I fling the phone on the bed as my mind drifts off to Nicholas again.

All my life, I thought I married the perfect gentleman and alpha. The man who was rude to others but gentle with me. I saw Nicholas as a god and this is what he does to me. The more I think about it, the more angry I get.

I gently hold onto my tummy and let out a small sigh, I have to do everything to make sure my baby lives. I can not lose this baby now.

My thoughts are interrupted again and I was thinking it was the lawyer but it was Nicholas’s sister. One of the best persons I have come across in my life. She treats me far better than her brother even if she was lower in rank than him and he also loved her a lot.

But right now I am not sure why she is calling me. I don’t know if she will actually take her brother’s side. I want to end the call but on impulse I stop myself before clicking on the receive button again.

“Luna” her voice reach my ears, “where are you, Michelle? I came over to the pack house and you are not here, you are not at the mansion either. Where the hell are you?”

“Are you that worried about me?” I can’t help but ask her, how I wish Nicholas is the one looking out for me like this, how I wish he is the one worried and not his sister.

“Of course” she snaps out, “i saw your sister though”

My heart skips a beat, I am not sure if Natalia has told her everything.

“You met her? What did she say?”

“Just tell me where you are, Mish. I will come to meet you, I will only feel better when I see you with my eyes.

I roll my eyes, I am actually not in the mood to see anyone right now but if I keep refusing her, she might actually suspect something.

“I am at the royal oaks hotel, I will text you my room number”

“You do that”

As I end the call and press my head against the pillow, tears well up in my eyes again. I can not stop crying, not after what Nicholas has done to me. How can he do something like that to me?

He allowed another woman to come between us and that is something I will not be able to forgive him for no matter what.

My thoughts are interrupted when my mobile begins to beep. Seeing it was Nicholas, I push myself to a sitting position before picking up the phone.

For a moment, I continue to stare back at the screen, unable to decide if I should pick the call or not. How dare he call me after what he has done?

“Won’t you answer?” My wolf asks me, “don’t you think this is an opportunity for you to tell him everything?”

“How sure are you?” I mutter under my breath and sniff back a tear.

Bracing myself, I click on the receive button and press the phone against my ear.

“Hello”

“I can see how shameless you are, Michelle” Natalia’s voice reaches my ears, “you think going around and telling Nicholas’s family will change a thing?”

“What rubbish are you talking about?” I ask her with a frown on my face.

“You must have sounded so pathetic I guess” she scoffs, “but let me tell you something, you can not get Nicholas anymore. No matter what you do, he belongs to me now. I will suggest you stay away from him and make sure to use the alimony well. I don’t want you coming back for more”

I don’t even bother to answer her before ending the call. Natalia would never change despite being the eldest.

I quickly send my room number to Nicholas’s sister before making my way into the washroom. I can not keep crying over the fact that I am already divorced. I have my baby to protect now and I am going to do that with the last drop of my blood.

I am not sure how long I was in the shower but when I walk out of the bathroom, Lucy was already sitting on my bed. I guess I forgot to lock my door.

“You forgot to lock your door again, Luna” she says out loud, “how can you be so forgetful, Michelle? How do you even cope with such things?”

“Why are you here, Lucy?” I ask her while lowering myself on the couch opposite the bed, “you don’t have to be here”

“I came to check on you, Luna”

The name Luna suddenly cringes me out, this is a name I have loved to hear from the mouth of the pack members for years now, I suddenly hate it. How can things change so fast? How can everything become so different in just a day?

I let out a heavy sigh, the moon goddess sure knows how to make a mess of everything she created.

I immediately interrupt her, “don’t call me Luna, Lucy. I am sure you already know that I have already signed the divorce papers. I am no longer married to your brother and I am no longer the luna of the pack”

“You moved on so fast, Michelle”

“I did?” I scoff as I take my fingers through my hair, “shouldn’t you be telling this to your brother? The one who brought his ex-girlfriend into our matrimonial home?”

“You have known Nicholas for three years, mish” Lucy continues, “you know what kind of person he is, I think you should…

I cut her short again, “and Natalia has known him longer than that” I blurt in anger, “don’t you think you are being biased right now Lucy? Your brother is the one who brought her back into our lives. Our three years meant nothing to him. You should be reprimanding him and not me, it is my fault. The only thing I did was love him and be there for him these past few days. I never for once complained about how he handles the pack? I always supported him and this is how he pays me back?”

“You speak like you know Nicholas in and out”

“I am surprised you are taking his side this time, Lucy” I am getting more frustrated than I should be. She should be taking my side, why is she supporting her brother?

“Natalia is pregnant for him, Michele” she says, “even if I don’t like that bitch, I can not deny the fact that she is carrying the future alpha of our pack. Nicholas has wanted a child for years now, I am sure you understand why he did what he did”

“What?” I tug at my already disheveled hair, is she being serious right now?”

“I actually thought you were worried about me, I guess the baby on the way is what all of you care about”

“Get out!!” I am done listening to her speak so highly of her brother. I have always seen Lucy as the elder sister Natalia was and I learnt a lot from her as one of the strongest betas of our pack, I didn’t expect her to switch sides so soon.

CHAPTER FIVE

NICHOLAS’s POV.

I have just finished reading the document on my study table when my door pushes open and Lucy saunters into the room. She has a gloomy look on her face and I am guessing the meeting with Michelle didn’t go as she wanted. I had told her not to but my little sister is stubborn, I am glad she learned the hard way.

“I am busy, Lucy” I tell her, “why are you here?”

“You don’t seem bothered about Michelle?” She asks while lowering herself on the chair in front of me, “I met with her and she was extremely angry, I don’t think..

I cut her short, “do you think I am doing this because I still love Michelle but I want to keep my baby with Natalia?” A frown appears on my forehead as the words spew out of my mouth.

“Isn’t that what this is about? Lucy asks further, “you have always wanted a child and she has not been able to produce one for you. I understand that you want to be with Natalia because she is carrying your baby but.”

“I love Natalia, Lucy” I tell her, “I love her so much and I have loved her right from time. I am not with her only because I want the baby. I am with her because I want her and the baby too, do you understand what I am saying to you? Michelle has been a thorn in my flesh and I am happy to get rid of her, do you understand me?”

Her voice trails off when the door opens again and Natalia saunters in. A sweet smile is lingering on her lips and she has a tray of coffee with her.

“You didn’t tell me you sister was here, Nicholas” she says while dropping the tray on the table, “I would have made her coffee too”

“Nicholas does not take coffee” Lucy retorts while rolling her eyes and Natalia giggles lightly.

“Of course he takes coffee, sister in law, he just doesn’t take the coffee that Michelle makes. The caffeine inside his coffee helps to settle his mind, he is a lover of coffee”

I can’t help but look at her with pride. She sure knows me, she knows what I like and what I don’t like. Natalia has been part of my story for the longest of time and having her back in my life is more than a blessing.

If I had known what Michelle did back then, I would have gone to look for her myself.

“You don’t take coffee,” Lucy’s voice jolts me out of my thoughts, “right?”

“Tell me Lucy, why have you come? I am quite busy right now, I think you should leave”

“What?”

“Of course sister in law” Natalia chipps in, “Nicholas is a bit tired now since he had to go directly to the pack house after he left the office, maybe you should come back tomorrow if you so wish”

Lucy clenches her fist but she doesn’t say anything, forcing a smile on her face, she angrily storms off and the smile on Natalia’s face disappears.

“I have a bad feeling about your sister, Nick”

I lean back against the chair with my full gaze on her, even my wolf is pleased to have her back.

“Will you keep worrying about her or come here?” I bit down on my lower lip, “we will be getting married soon, you should get used to be being all clingy”

Another small smirk appears on her lips and Natalia walks up to me. The moment she gets closer, I yank her and she lands on my body, her scent whiffing into my nostrils in the process.

“You have been a naughty boy since I got back, Nick” she whispers into my ears while raking her fingers through my hair, “no wonder I got pregnant at the very first try”

“Of course baby” I snake my hands around and pull her closer, “now you don’t have to worry about anything anymore, you belong in my heart”

“Do you think Michelle will accept this? She left in anger and won’t even meet the attorney. I think she is planning something”

“The Michelle I know will continue to hide, she is not that courageous”

“Hmmm”

She presses a kiss on my lips and just as I am about to deepen the kiss, a knock on the door interrupts me.

“Boss, there is an emergency” Van, one of the men after my heart says from behind the door.

“Come on in” I order and he saunters into the room with a bow.

“What happened?”

“We caught some wolf hunters boss, they were snooping around the pack house”

I let out a heavy sigh, they won’t stop coming no matter how much I send their limbs to their senders.

“Get dressed” i tell Natalia as I press her bum, “I will introduce you as the new Luna of our pack”

Her face lits up, she looks happy and that is more than enough for me. The love and affection I couldn’t shower on her in the past, I will do more than that now.

“Of course baby” she presses another kiss on my lips, “I will meet you in the car”

Everyone is gathered in the hall ehen I enter with Natalia’s hands clasped in mine. I can see the suprised expression on everyone’s faces. I am sure they must have heard but they weren’t particularly sure if what they heard was actually true.

I led her to her chair and help her to sit down before returning my gaze to the sea of eyes in front of me, time to burst their bubbles.

“I shouldn’t be doing this because it is not necessary but I guess I should so we won’t have any kind of problems in the future. I am sure most of you have heard by now and yes it is right, Natalia is back to take her rightful place beside me and my mate and the new Luna of our pack”

Their suprised eyes widen more, I guess they were not expecting that much.

“What about Luna Michelle?” Someone asks from the crowd and my gaze darkens, that was a name I never want to hear again.

“Did you not hear him?” Natalia speaks up as she stands up, “you all made a jest of me when Michelle showed up right? Now I have come to take my rightful place at this table and anyone of you who can’t cope with it can leave just like your precious Michelle did”

I couldn’t be more proud of her, if only she spoke up three years ago.

“But master, in front of all of us three years ago, you took Luna Michelle as your mate. How can Natalia come back as our Luna now?”

“Grace?” Natalia scoffs while taking slow steps towards her. Right now I am like a proud husband letting my wife have her way, “since you are a religious follower of Michelle, why don’t you get lost with her? I mean, you won’t be seeing her ever again so you should also go with her. The likes of you are not needed here”

A smile creeps up on my face, Gosh I love Natalia.

“Who else wants to give me a lecture as to why I can not be here?” She asks again, “or you better get used to seeing me every day of your lives now, I am carrying the next alpha of our pack, I expect you all to treat me with utmost care”

Turning around she walks back to me and clasps her hand over mine again,

“I have come to take what rightfully belongs to me” Natalia says again, “and I won’t be letting go this time around”

CHAPTER SIX

NATALIA’s POV.

After Nicholas is done talking to the pack members, he leaves to meet with the bounty hunters while I decide to take a tour around the pack house.

It had been three years of not seeing the building, three years of being away from him, three years of letting Michele do as she pleased.

Three years ago, I watched her take him away from me and I couldn't do anything. I left the pack house in shame but now I was back to take what belongs to me. No matter how tough everything gets, I must make sure Nicholas never thinks about getting back with that sister of mine anymore. I know he won’t do that, after all I have his heir growing inside of me.

“Natalia” my thoughts were interrupted when I heard

someone calls my name from behind me and I turn to see his sister.

I almost roll my eyes, I know she didn’t like me so why won’t she keep her distance from me?

“For someone who doesn’t like me, you sure pester me a lot, Lucy” I don’t bother to hide the loathing in my voice. She is quite aware that I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me too. It is a fifty -fifty situation.

“Why exactly are you back, Natalia?” She asks me, “you left three years ago and now you are back. You didn’t waste time in taking Nicholas and the pack back”

I scoff; even if I don’t like her, she was an intelligent woman. She understood the math completely.

“At least you know what's happening, Lucy” I begin to speak again, “at least you understand that I am back to take everything Michele took away from me. The pack, Nicholas and my title as Luna. For three years, she has been enjoying what belongs to me and I am so done with that. This is my time and I will make sure to take everything from her. Did she whine to you when you left to meet her? I bet she must have cried a lot and you wanted to bring her back and ask your brother to take her back, right?”

“It is the opposite, Natalia” Lucy says much to my amazement and my forehead creases into a slight frown.

“What do you mean?”

“I do not hate you as you think, Nat” Lucy continues, “and of course I prefer Michele to you, she has held this pack together for three years but I can not dispute the fact that you are carrying my brother’s child. I just hope you stick to that and don’t go bugging Michelle anymore. She has already signed the divorce papers and I am sure she will never come back again. You should make the most of what you have now, you don’t know what the moon goddess has planned for the future”

With a smile, she nods at me and walks away leaving me to my thoughts. Right now I am not sure if she is on my side or on my sister’s side.

The thought of Michelle makes my wolf growl in anger. It is a good thing that she signed the papers without any fight, she should also go through what I have gone through for years.

Not interested in taking a tour again, I walk back into Nicholas’s room and I am surprised to see the bathroom

door open. I wasn’t aware that he was back.

“Nick?” I call out to him.

“I am in here” he responds.

With a smirk on my lips, I remove my clothes and also make my way into the shower with only a pair of lingerie on.

As soon as I set eyes on him, I gently bit down on my lips. He looks so hot with the way the water is dripping down his body and how his abs stood impeccably on his abdomen. The beeping of my mobile resonates in my ears and I gently open my eyes before pushing my body to a sitting position.

Picking up my phone, it is my aunt and for a moment I don’t know if I should answer the call. She must have heard what happened at the pack house and I know for a fact that she wants to give me an earful.

The phone in my hand continues to ring and left with no other choice, I click on the receive button before pressing the phone against my ear.

“I am sorry aunt” I say out loud, “Everything happened so fast and I didn’t have time to think, I had to leave immediately”

“But why, why would you leave your home and your pack just because Natalia is back, I thought you were stronger than this my dear”

“Look aunt” I rake my fingers through my wavy hair as she sigh left my lips, “Nicholas wanted me gone and I didn’t want to argue with him. He finds Natalia better than me and I can not force him to love me, I have tried aunt. Maybe it is time for my big break, I also have a lot on min mind that I need to take care of”

“Where are you? I will come to see you later”

“Don’t bother aunt” I refute, “I am fine and I am eating well too. You should just focus on the pack house lest Nicholas finds something to yell about”

“I am sorry you have to go through this alone, child”

My hand flies to my tummy and I caress it gently. Of course I am not alone, I have a child growing inside of me, how can I be alone?”

“You don’t have to worry about me aunt, I will be fine”

“Are you sure?”

“Hmmm”

After I end the call, I slump back on the bed as tears well up in my eyes. I am trying to be fine but the pain of what Nicholas did to me continues to haunt me. How can I do something like that? How can he cast me away like that?

Earlier someone from the pack house called me to tell me about how he brought her to the pack house and introduced her as the new Luna.

The more I think about it, the more I feel betrayed. I have never done the opposite of showing Nicholas love and this is what he does to me.

A little pain in my tummy jolts me out of my train of thought and fear grips me, my baby. I have to do anything and everything to make sure it is safe even if it means putting my life on the line because of it.

With this at the back of my head, I rush towards the wardrobe and get dressed before rushing out of the room and in no time, I flag down a taxi and I am on my way to the hospital.

Luckily my door didn’t have any patients so I saunter into his office and his face breaks into a smile. I am wondering why he is smiling because I called him on the way here.

“Ma’am” he stands up and we exchange pleasantries before I lower myself on the chair opposite him.

“So tell me, how is the pain now?”

“It comes and goes doctor” I tell him, “it feels like my insides are on fire and I am unable to breath when it starts.

This is why I have come to the hospital, I can’t take any chances with my baby’s life. It was the only thing I would be able to boast of in future and I can not jeopardize it for anything no matter what.

“I would have explained it to you over the phone but I could sense the urgency in your voice and that is why I let you come to the hospital” he begins to speak, “that is the side effect of the medication you have been taking. The pain comes when the tumor is being affected due to the antibodies present in the drugs. With each passing day, it could get worse with other symptoms” he pauses for a while, his eyes are searching mine for something I can not quite understand,

“Do you still want to continue with the medication, ma’am?”

I am silent for a while, I actually don’t know what to say. How I wish Nicholas was here, he would have made a decision that would sit right with me but now I am left to make the decision for me and my baby. It isn’t a hard thing for me to get rid of the baby and the tumor but this is the only thing that links me to my past and my future. I should be able to endure it all, I should be able to protect the little life the moon goddess has blessed me with.

“Of course doctor, I will continue with the medication”

A look of surprise flashes across his face. He must be thinking I would go for the second option but once it comes to my baby, I am willing to do everything and anything.

“I am doing this for my baby and I will continue to endure it well no matter what”

“You are one strong woman, Michelle” he is being serious, I can see it, “I admire your courage and dedication, I hope you find the happiness that you deserve”

I flash him a smile but I don’t say anything, my happiness was Nicholas but now he is gone.

“I will continue to work and find a cure of you mish, I also

want you to deliver a healthy baby”

“Thank you so much doctor”

I can be rest assured now, this pain won’t affect my baby and that is enough for me.

Our conversation is interrupted when the door pushes open and as soon as I turn to see who it is, my face creases into an expressionless look. It is Nicholas and Natalia and what more, she is wearing the family heirloom that Nicholas collected from me the night he brought home the divorce.
