Chapter 3
Josephine told me to put up with everything, saying she was only playing along with Jacob and would never betray me.
Now that Jacob had killed Natasha, Josephine was still using the same excuse to fool me. It seemed Natasha's life was worth nothing to her.
Josephine was no different from Jacob and the others after all. I had been so blinded by my love for her that I failed to see her true colors.
I smiled bitterly. "I'm not worthy to be the father of your baby!"
Blood dripped from my mouth with every word I spoke. "Falling for you and marrying you were the two biggest mistakes of my life! Someone's going to pay for my sister's death, whether it's you or me!"
Josephine seized my arm tightly, tears welling in her eyes. "You can't say nonsense like that! I won't allow it! And I'll never divorce you! We're about to be a family of three soon."
With that, she even stepped forward to kiss me. "You have to understand I'm doing this for us."
I turned my head away in disgust.
Jacob pulled Josephine, who looked wounded, into his arms. He then kicked me in the stomach. "How dare you make Josephine cry!"
Then he kissed her in front of me, slipping his hands under her shirt. "Stop crying. You know I'm the one who treats you best, don't you?"
Josephine was kissed until her cheeks flushed red. "Stop. My husband's watching us."
Jacob pushed her back onto the couch. "That's okay. Ever since you got married, you've barely hooked up with us since you got married. We should get back at him by doing this right now."
The other men looked excited, their eyes lighting up as they drew closer in anticipation.
"That's right. Without Josephine around, it's not even fun anymore. The woman last night couldn't even compare to you."
Josephine glanced at me guiltily. But very quickly, she became dazed under his touch.
The scene before me felt absurd. Was this Josephine's so-called idea of love?
A wave of disgust washed over me, making me gag repeatedly. Even if I shut my eyes to block out what they were doing, their disgusting sounds still drifted into my ears.
Later, they felt there wasn't enough room on the couch, so all of them moved into the bedroom.
I wasn't sure who had accidentally kicked the knife over to my feet. I struggled over, held back my fury and disgust, and slowly cut through the ropes.
Once I was done, I quickly found my phone, which they had taken away earlier.
I was about to make a call when someone suddenly smashed a chair onto my back, and Josephine's angry voice rang out. "Jacob was right. You refuse to give up, and now you're trying to call the cops on us?"
Someone picked up the phone and began cursing. "He actually paid someone to smear Jacob online!"
The man showed everyone the chat logs, proving that I had paid someone to spread rumors about Jacob. Now, he was trending online as a shameless homewrecker.
But I hadn't even done it. The conversation happened while I was tied up, but Josephine didn't even notice the obvious loophole and slapped me hard.
"Jacob likes to have a bit of fun, that's all. And now you want to ruin him for good? You're so vicious!"
In a rage, Josephine immediately started posting all the disgusting photos she had just taken of my sister's body.
"You made me do this!"
Like a madman, I lunged forward to snatch the phone from her, but the other men knocked me to the ground and stomped on the wrist holding it.
"You did this to Jacob first. You can't blame me for being so cruel!"
I grabbed Josephine's leg tightly.
Chapter 4
"My parents and brother-in-law are involved in classified missions. If you don't stop this, all your families are done for!"
Because my family worked in sensitive roles, I had to limit contact with my parents after I got married to prevent state secrets from being leaked. That was why others assumed Natasha had gotten pregnant before marriage.
Right now, all I wanted was for my sister to rest in peace. I had no choice but to tell the truth.
The wealthy men snorted in laughter. "Come on! Classified missions? We've looked into you. Your parents are just poor farmers. You don't even have a brother-in-law. Someone online just recognized your sister. She was a massage therapist!"
Josephine gasped. "The photos have been taken down, but someone just messaged me about them. He's willing to pay ten thousand dollars per photo for this set."
She pointed at the photo of Jacob stubbing out the cigarette in Natasha's mouth.
"They even said they'd be willing to pay 30 million dollars for an ashtray like this!"
The men grew extremely excited. "Who knew her death could be worth so much?"
"Even though there's not much of her lower body left, the buyer could have her head as an ashtray. We could just cut it off and send it over to him as a souvenir!"
Their cruel words seemed to wear on my nerves.
I grabbed a broken stool leg, drove several people back, and stood in front of Natasha's body. I was trembling with every breath, my face twisted with the desperation of a man with nowhere else to turn.
"You want her head, huh? Well, over my dead body!"
Josephine was taken aback by my reaction, and she said, "Forget it. It's not like we actually need the money."
Malice flashed in Jacob's eyes as he spoke softly. "Yes, we don't need the money, but your husband does, doesn't he? We're helping him make some money."
"He just can't accept it for now. Let me talk him into it." Josephine hesitated for a moment before nodding.
The other men instantly stood in front of Josephine, blocking her from view. Jacob walked over to me and whispered, "Horace Carter, I bet you didn't know this, but Josephine could be carrying any one of our babies, but definitely not yours.
"When you did that appendectomy back then, I had the doctor perform an extra procedure."
His voice grew more vicious. "Your sister overheard us talking about it and had the nerve to threaten us. She actually didn't kill herself. We took her so hard that she died!"
Consumed by rage, I seized his throat and pinned him to the ground. I hit him until his nose broke, sending his teeth and blood flying everywhere.
Jacob's friends frantically rushed over, trying to pull Jacob and me apart.
From the very beginning, my marriage had been a complete joke. It had even cost Natasha and her unborn child their lives.
Blood blurred my vision, but I refused to stop.
Amidst the chaos, Josephine stabbed me in the stomach just to save Jacob.
Jacob's friends started cursing me out. "How dare he beat Jacob up! We're going to kill him!"
Someone struck my head hard and shoved the knife deeper into my body. They even kicked my ribs so hard that they broke.
My breathing grew weaker, and darkness started to close in.
Suddenly, someone broke down the door and burst into the room.
