I'll Make the Playboy Heir Pay
My younger sister, Natasha Carter, is three months pregnant when she is delivered to a group of rich scions, who decide to play a special game with her that involves guessing her baby's gender.
Unable to escape from them, poor Natasha chooses to commit suicide after suffering from a mental breakdown. Her naked body is later on discovered lying in a puddle of her own blood.
I'm enraged, to say the least. My wife, Josephine Floyd, is equally furious, too. She claims that she will seek justice on Natasha's behalf.
But when her childhood friend, Jacob Keller, flaunts the fact that he's the mastermind of that game, Josephine changes her tune instantly and advises me to be more gracious.
"Jacob is a playful guy. Don't take what he did to heart, yeah?"
Jacob remains nonchalant as ever. "Natasha got pregnant out of wedlock, after all. Yet, she pretended to be a chaste virgin."
With reddened eyes, I sock Jacob in the face. I want him to pay the price with his own life too.
But Josephine responds by smashing a wine bottle into my head. Then, she tosses a luxury watch she has intended to give to the winner onto my face.
"Your sister is the shameless one here, Horace! Here, this watch should be enough to compensate for your loss!
"Jacob is the heir of the Keller family, you know! A broke peasant like you should learn to be grateful with what you have!"
With a sneer, I smash the watch into splinters.
Trust me, this watch is incapable of saving Jacob and the other scions from the wrath of the family that has sired two generations of secret agents who've been carrying out classified missions for the nation.
"This watch is worth millions. Don't act like you don't know what it's worth!"
Jacob Keller kicked my younger sister Natasha Carter's body aside and glared at me.
The wealthy men in the room looked at me as if I were worth nothing. "She was just a tramp. If it weren't for Josephine, we wouldn't even give you a single cent!"
Jacob couldn't care less. After all, treating people this way was nothing new to him.
"You only got together with Josephine for her money, didn't you? Stop pretending you're above all this."
Josephine Floyd gave Jacob a reproachful shove before turning to me, her eyes cold and impatient.
"Who wouldn't be upset to have a sister who brought shame on the family? Jacob was helping you remove the stain from your family's name. You should be thanking him instead. Stop making a fuss."
I gritted my teeth, my hands trembling as I pulled the bedsheet off and covered my sister's battered body.
Soon, her husband, Caleb Locke, would be retiring from service, and Natasha was about to become a mother. They could have been a happy little family, but these bastards ruined everything.
The hatred in my eyes burned even stronger. "Thank him? I'm going to kill him!"
Josephine was taken aback by my expression, but quickly regained her composure.
"Don't you get it? Your sister killed herself. Jacob and the others were just having a bit of fun. How could you blame him for her death? You're way too unreasonable."
I immediately slapped Josephine. "Just having a bit of fun? You bastards! Was my sister's life nothing to you?"
My actions set everyone off. They swarmed me at once and started beating me up.
At first, I had the upper hand, but someone used a taser on me. I immediately collapsed to the ground, convulsing uncontrollably. Fists and kicks rained down on me.
Jacob stepped on my face, pressing it into the floor again and again. Then he pulled Josephine into his arms and kissed the cheek I had slapped earlier.
"My friends told me your sister was begging for it last night. She wasn't exactly unwilling. You just want to squeeze money out of us, don't you?"
Josephine covered her face, looking furious. "Go on. Tell us. How much will it take?"
The disgust and contempt in her eyes pierced my heart like a knife.
I loved Josephine so much that I was willing to put up with her affair with Jacob, but I could never accept her turning a blind eye to him killing Natasha.
Natasha was worth more than anything else in this world. No amount of money could ever make up for it.
