Chapter 7

Jacob slept in her room that night.

Since they had a quarrel that night, Jessica did not close the curtains while sleeping. The sunlight shone through the window and onto her face.

As soon as she opened her eyes, no one around her.

When she turned her head to look at the clock on the table, it pointed to ten o'clock and she was stunned.

The Oliveira Family usually had breakfast at nine o'clock. Why did not anyone come and wake her up today?

After putting on her clothes, she opened the door and walked out. As soon as she went downstairs, she was stunned again.

Kelsey sat next to Jacob, in the seat that should have belonged to her, enjoying breakfast with a smile on her face.

Seeing her coming down, instead of feeling embarrased, she waved at her and said, "Jessica, are you up? Come and help me see which engagement dress is better for me!"

Florence turned her head and spoke up with a smile, "I was going to help her pick a few dress, but she insisted on waiting for you to wake up because you girls have similar tastes. Come and sit here."

Jessica lowered her eyes and stepped down the stairs step by step.

To tell you the truth, Kelsey did not think Jessica had a good taste. She asked her to help choose a engagement dress was clearly to mock her.

Mocking her for not being able to show her relationship with Jacob in public.

Jessica sat at the end of the dining table, looking at the photos Kelsey handed over and tugged the corners of her mouth stiffly.

"I'm not very familiar with such a thing, why not just ask my brother to help you choose?"

Hearing her words, Kelsey's eyes lit up as she placed the photos in front of Jacob and said, "Jacob, which engagement dress do you think looks the most beautiful on me?"

Jacob smiled, his tone full of indulgence. "You always look the most beautiful in any piece. If you like it, then we'll wear it all."

Jessica ate her cold toast, omelette and sausage in her plate and listened to the two of them showing their affection with no expression and no word from beginning to end.

After having breakfast, she walked out of the villa and waited for a car.

Since she was about to leave, she planned to spend more time with her best friend, Selena, before leaving.

She told Damien, Florence, Jacob and Kelsey that she was going out with Selena. But perhaps because they were busy talking about Jacob and Kelsey's engagement plans, they did not give usual response.

In the following days, Jacob left early and returned late to prepare for his engagement and he never even came to her room again.

However, it was also good that she could spend more time with Selena.

When the two girls were walking hand in hand, Selena suddenly grabbed Jessica's hand and looked at a place in shock.

"Jessie, look!"

Jessica followed her gaze.

On a huge advertising screen, a video of Jacob proposing to Kelsey was projected.

In the video, the man knelt on one knee. The usually cold and unapproachable Prince of the Oliveira Family proposed to Kelsey cautiously. If they saw closely, they could see that his body was trembling slightly.

Hearing Kelsey say yes to his proposal, Jacob devoutly kissed her fingertips and at the same time, tears rolled down her hand.

How much love did it take to make tears well up in a man's eyes when he heard a woman say yes to his proposal?

Not only Jessica and Selena, almost everyone on the street looked at the advertising screen.

A girl who looked about the same age as them was still sighing quietly. "As expected of the prince, his upbringing and appearance are impeccable and even his feelings are so loyal. It seems that Jacob really loves Kelsey."

Her friend nodded as she responded, "I can see it at first glance, he is madly in love with his girlfriend. Not only that, they look so well-matched. I heard they're getting married soon. I wish they live a happy life!"

Selena turned her head to her best friend and happened to see a tear flowing from the corner of her eyes.

Chapter 8

She hurriedly followed her footsteps and cautiously asked, "Jessie, are you okay?"

Jessica wiped away the tears on her face and shook her head. "It's okay, I should have let it go a long time ago."

Hearing her response, Selena felt relieved and angry at the same time. "But I think those two girls are right. Jacob and Kelsey are pair of bastard and bitch. They are really a good match. I hope they can be tied up and not to hurt others again."

Jessica was amused by her words and said, "You're right and besides, I'm about to have my own new life."

After hanging out together, Selena sent her back to the Oliveira Family's house.

She was about to leave and what she was most worried about was her adoptive parents.

She changed her clothes and planned to go out to buy a bouquet of flowers and visit her biological parents at the cemetery.

But she did not expect that when she was about to go out, she ran into Jacob, whom she had not seen for a long time.

Seeing her about to go out, he frowned and looked puzzled. "Where are you going?"

She told him the truth that she was going to the cemetery, but she did not expect him to get angry.

"You're going to see your parents? Why didn't you tell me such an important thing? We agreed to get engaged, your parents are my parents and as your boyfriend I should go with you," he said, grabbed her wrist and took her into the car.

After obediently sitting in the back seat of the car, she realized that Kelsey was sitting in the passenger seat.

Seeing her get in the car, Kelsey was a bit surprised. After understanding the situation, a mocking smile apeeared on her mouth and she said, "You wouldn't think Jacob was here to see you off, would you? To be honest, we're going to see the engagement venue and you're just passing by."

Sure enough, when the man came out of the house, he was holding a camera in his hand.

Taking the camera, Kelsey pretended to be very happy and said, "Jacob, can we take a few more photos then?"

Seeing him nod, she asked again, "Just, I heard from Jessica that you are going to send her to the cemetery, then it should be inconvenient if I am there, right?"

He looked at her and said gently, "How could that be? You are not an outsider anyway."

He never gave Jessica a glance from beginning to end, as if her opinion was not important at all.

Even though they were her parents, to her, Kelsey was just an outsider.

Passing by a flower shop, Jessica got off the car and bought a large bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Then arriving at the cemetery, she walked alone.

Jacob followed behind her and watched her place the bouquet of chrysanthemums in front of the tombstone.

Just as he was about to walk over, the mobile phone in his pocket began to vibrate. It was a call from his mother.

He glanced at Jessica, frowned and turned to walk outside.

Jessica did not even care where he went and knelt in front of the tombstone, wanting to talk to her parents.

Just then, Kelsey walked over with a sarcastic look on her face, holding the camera in her hand.

"Jessica, you are such a failure in life. Not only do your parents and brother no longer want you, but now even Jacob doesn't want you anymore."

Jessica suddenly looked up at her with a hint of anger in her eyes.

But it was this kind of look that made Kelsey even more rampant. She handed the camera to Jessica.

"I'm getting married to Jacob tomorrow. As my sister-in-law, please help me pick out a engagement dress."

Kelsey opened the camera and showed her the photos without hesitation.

In each of the photos, Kelsey was wearing a different engagement dress and standing next to Jacob who was wearing a suit and some of the photos were of them kissing.

Jessica closed her eyes and responded to her in a trembling voice, "I have already given Jacob to you, why do you keep humiliating me?"

Kelsey snorted and turned off the camera, saying, "Of course, it's because that's not enough."

Jessica did not understand the meaning of her words. Just as she was about to open her mouth to ask, she saw Kelsey pretending to fall.

The camera fell to the ground.

And at the same time, Jacob came over.

Chapter 9

Seeing this scene, Jacob, who knew nothing, rushed over and held Kelsey in his arms.

He stared at Jessica and frowned. "Jessie! What are you doing?"

Before she could say anything, Kelsey cried and threw herself into the man's arms, her voice choking with sobs. "It's all my fault. I wanted her to help me pick out a engagement dress, but I don't know why she got angry and threw the camera on the ground."

Looking at the camera that had rolled to the side, Jacob looked at Jessica angrily. "You are so ridiculous!"

Hearing this, she looked at Jacob in disbelief and asked, "Who exactly is causing trouble?"

Afraid that Jessica would reveal the truth, Kelsey pulled his sleeve and said, "Jacob, my body hurts so much. Can you take me to the hospital?"

He glanced at Jessica and finally chose to pick up Kelsey and stride away.

In the night, as soon as Jessica returned home, she threw all the things related to Jacob into the trash can and asked the sanitation workers to take them away.

She then went back to her room and laid in bed.

Not long after, the sound of the door opening was heard and Jacob laid down beside her in the dark.

He held the back of her head and kissed her one after another.

"Jessie, I shouldn't have gotten angry with you today. It's just that the photos in the camera were taken to show and deceive my parents, so I got anxious for a moment."

She closed her eyes and said nothing.

It was because none of these were important to her anymore.

Like before, Jacob slept in her room that night, but did nothing, just slept with her the whole night.

The next morning, the sound of the phone ringing woke them up.

It was a call from Kelsey.

She did not know what Kelsey said on the other end of the phone, but after hanging up the phone, he looked at her apologetically. "Jessie ...."

She turned her back to him. "Just go."

After hesitating for a moment, he got dressed and left the room.

Before leaving, he said, "Jessie, once this fake engagement is over, I will take you abroad."

She just closed her eyes and gave no response.

She was destined to go on this trip abroad alone.

Hearing the sound of a car starting outside the house, she packed up everything and took a taxi to the airport.

She did not leave any of her stuffs, except for a letter on the table.

A breakup letter to Jacob.

This time, she completely let go of this man. From now on, she will just be her own sun, lighting her way forward...
