Chapter 1
After my son and wife left a grain of rice in their bowls for the 99th time, I slammed the table and yelled at my wife.
"Divorce immediately and the son will be yours."
My wife looked at me in disbelief.
"Are you crazy? You want to divorce me just for a piece of leftover rice?"
Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds punched and kicked me, and even my parents pointed at me and scolded me.
My son even knelt at my feet and kowtowed.
"Dad, I was wrong. I don't have any more food left. Please, don't leave me and mom."
I sneered at my son.
He and his mother went to great lengths to treat me like that, and if I didn't leave right away, would I be waiting for them to kill me?
I overturned the food on the table with one hand.
"If I say I want a divorce, then I want a divorce, and no one can stop me."
Sophia Reynolds looked at me in surprise.
The son, who usually ate in silence, also looked flustered.
He didn't understand why I suddenly got angry.
"Dad, what's wrong with you?"
I looked at him unhappily.
"I'm divorcing your mother. Your mother leaves with nothing. If you follow her, I won't give you any child support."
My words made their faces turn pale instantly.
Sophia quickly reached out and grabbed me.
"Why? Why do you want a divorce?"
She didn't understand. She was just eating at home as usual, and I suddenly lost my temper and wanted to divorce her.
Not even children.
It is obvious that I value this son the most and I put him first in everything.
I shook off her grip on me.
"No need to say any more, take the documents and let's get a divorce right away."
As I said that, I took out the Divorce Papers I had prepared long ago and threw them in her face.
"Once you've signed, we'll go to the Civil Registry Office."
Daniel MillerDivorce Papers.
He questioned me angrily.
"Dad, why did you suddenly divorce Mom?"
"And what's written in this agreement is not fair at all."
fair?
I've done the best I can by not asking Sophia to pay me back for Bridal Dowry and the money I've spent over the years.
I reached out and slapped my son.
"What qualifications do you have to challenge me? Who do you think you are?"
My words made Sophia and Daniel's eyes widen.
They looked at me in disbelief, totally unable to believe that these words would come out of my mouth.
Sophia crawled to my feet and grabbed my trouser leg.
"Husband, what's wrong with you? What did I do wrong? Tell me and I can change it."
The way she begged humbly was as if she had committed a terrible mistake.
But I didn't even look at her, I just pointed at the bowl on the table.
Daniel reacted immediately.
"Dad, Mom and I forgot. It's our fault. Let's finish the food in our bowls right away."
He spoke so anxiously, but his hands did not move at all.
Sophia saw that my eyes were getting colder, so she spoke quickly.
"Alexander, it's just a meal, don't take it too seriously."
"Daniel and I can't eat it anymore, so just keep it."
I knew she was going to deal with me in this perfunctory way.
But now I am no longer the fool who could be dealt with by her.
"I said I want a divorce, are you deaf?"
When Sophia saw that I was determined to get a divorce, she stood up suddenly.
"I won't divorce you."
"Go out and ask around. Is there anyone in the world who wants a divorce just because his wife and child only have one grain of rice left in their bowl?"
She was blaming me in every way, saying that I had mental problems and would divorce over leftovers.
But I know very well.
The reason for our divorce is not what she said.
Chapter 2
Just as I was silent, my son knelt at my feet and begged me.
"Dad, Mom is right. We just left a piece of rice. We didn't do anything wrong. You can't divorce me just because you want to."
Daniel defended him and his mother word for word.
It was as if I was the unforgivable villain who abandoned his wife.
Seeing that I didn't respond, he knelt on the ground and kowtowed even more fiercely.
"Dad, please don't divorce Mom."
"We'll change it."
I followed his words and suddenly spoke.
"Do you swear that you will never leave a grain of rice?"
Daniel didn't expect me to ask this question suddenly. He was about to respond to my affirmative words but stopped immediately.
When I saw his expression, I knew that he would not change in the future.
I kicked Daniel hard and knocked him over.
"You and your mother treated me like this, and you still want me to stay? That's wishful thinking."
When I was about to kick Daniel with my other foot, I was pushed hard from behind.
"stop."
I wasn't surprised to see Sophia's parents.
It just so happens that I'm getting a divorce from Sophia today, and since they're here, I'm going to make things clear with them all at once.
I stood up and handed them the Divorce Papers on the ground.
"Let Sophia sign it, and we can part ways amicably from now on."
Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds had just helped Daniel up from the ground when they saw me reaching out to take out a document.
When she saw the words written on it, Mrs. Reynolds screamed and looked at me.
"You want to divorce Sophia and leave her with nothing?"
Mr. Reynolds pointed at me in shock.
"You...you...you, how dare you?"
I know what Mr. Reynolds is trying to say.
When we got married, I swore on my life that I would treat Sophia as the most precious treasure in my life.
I said that if you break this oath, you will not die a good death.
But now I want Sophia to get out of the Miller family and even my son Daniel.
Mr. Reynolds remembered my previous oath, his expression softened, and he asked me.
"Alexander, why do you want to divorce Sophia? Did Sophia do something to upset you?"
It’s not that Mr. Reynolds favors me, but over the years I have cared more about the two elders of the Reynolds family than I did about my parents.
Relatives and friends of the Reynolds family would more or less praise me in person or behind my back, saying that the Reynolds family had a "good son."
Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds have never felt tired at all over the years because of my care.
I answered him expressionlessly.
"No, I just want a divorce."
Mr. Reynolds didn't expect me to answer so decisively.
Even if he wanted to find some excuse for me before, he couldn't take my side now.
Only then did Daniel cry to Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds.
After hearing what he said, Mrs. Reynolds came forward and tore my clothes off.
"You want to get rid of my daughter and grandson with just a leftover meal."
"Tell me, did you cheat on me?"
Mrs. Reynolds knew I would never cheat, but she just couldn't understand it.
Why would I be like a madman and divorce my wife and children just for a piece of leftover rice?
She could only look at me from a woman's perspective.
Sophia, who was standing behind her, quickly pulled Mrs. Reynolds over.
"Mom, don't talk nonsense. Alexander is not that kind of person."
Mr. Reynolds was furious when he saw that his daughter was hurt by me and still spoke up for me.
He pointed at me again.
"Do you really want to divorce Sophia today?"
His hands are shaking.
He was expecting me to say no.
Even Mrs. Reynolds, Sophia, and Daniel beside them looked at me hopefully.
Chapter 3
Sadly, they won't get their wish.
I scanned their expressions and nodded solemnly.
"Now, get a divorce immediately."
Sophia heard what I said and collapsed into Mrs. Reynolds' arms.
She cried and begged Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds to keep me.
She said she couldn't live without me, and her son couldn't live without me either.
She wants to be with me forever.
I remain indifferent.
Mr. Reynolds finally said angrily.
"You can divorce, but we don't agree to the divorce conditions you proposed."
"I've already told your parents about this. When they come, we'll discuss how to get a divorce."
After saying that, Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds ignored me and walked straight to the sofa, sitting there quietly waiting.
Only Sophia and Daniel were still looking at me expectantly, hoping that I would take back my divorce.
But I remained unmoved and just looked at the door quietly.
Soon, my parents knocked on the door.
But Mr. Reynolds & Mrs. Reynolds were one step faster than me.
They got to the door before me and gave me a look.
It's like saying, I'm dead.
Sure enough, my mother slapped me as soon as she walked in.
"Are you getting brave enough to divorce without discussing it with your parents?"
She looked at Sophia who was crying on the sofa, then reached out and slapped me.
The loud slap silenced the entire living room.
I responded to her with a red and swollen face.
"I said I wanted to leave, and that's it. Even if you come, I won't change my mind."
My mother didn't expect that I would contradict her.
My dad even kicked me down.
"You've really grown up! Not only do you dare to divorce, you even dare to contradict your mother."
As he said this, he was about to hit me.
Sophia quickly stepped in front of me.
"No, Alexander didn't mean it, don't hit him."
Anyone who sees Sophia like this would think that she loves me deeply.
But I felt extremely disgusted.
The way she lovingly protected me made me feel even more disgusted.
I pushed her away.
"Stop being so hypocritical. Even if I were beaten to death today, I wouldn't change my mind about divorcing you."
My cold words stung Sophia.
Daniel stood in front of her.
"Dad, you're crazy! Mom almost got punched by Grandpa because of you, and you actually want a divorce. Are you a cold-blooded animal without any feelings?"
As he spoke, he showed Sophia's swollen ankle, which was sprained because she ran too fast to protect me.
I sneered.
Sophia is really talented.
If I didn't know the truth, I would be deceived by her pretense and lose everything.
When Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds saw my parents arrive, they sadly told them what had just happened.
After hearing what they said, my parents looked at me with anger.
"Unfilial son, Sophia and Daniel are so kind to you, how dare you do this?"
I argued impatiently.
"If they were doing this for my own good, why would they leave food in their bowls?"
"Ask them how many times I asked them to change it. Did they listen to me?"
My mother was furious.
"Leftovers? How much leftovers have you had since you were a child? Have you ever counted them yourself?"
"Your father and I never threw you out because of this. Are you using this as an excuse now?"
Seeing that I was silent, my mother continued.
"After all, you and Sophia have been married for so many years. If your living habits are not the same, you should tolerate each other."
"Besides, Daniel is your child. He's just leftovers. If there's anything wrong with that, you should educate him properly."
