Chapter 3

He said, "Are you happy now? The baby is only two months old and you won't be satisfied until you push Angelina to death? I found the heart donor, I arranged the surgery. If you have a problem, take it out on me, don't go insane at Angelina!"

I watched the two of them echoing each other's lines, I suddenly laughed.

My face full of mockery, while I said, "Right. It's all your fault. You forced her into bed, she didn't do a thing wrong. She knew she was dying, so she decided to enjoy herself with her best friend's man. You're so kind. So noble. You two are a perfect match!"

Clayton was enraged and lunged toward me, ready to strike.

After years of training kicked in, I dodged instinctively. But I lost balance and fell hard onto the steps.

Agony from an old wrist injury shot through me like a knife. Cold sweat beaded on my forehead.

Angelina came over, she pretended to help, but deliberately collapsed onto me to worsen the injury. I couldn't hold back a cry of pain.

Clayton sneered coldly, "You’re still pretending? I didn't even touch you!"

Angelina apologized meekly, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ... Sienna, are you okay?"

I flung her away with all my strength, I yelled, "Spare me the act. I don't buy it!"

Clayton's patience ran out. His face turned completely cold.

He said coldly, "You don't know what's good for you. Angelina's upset because of you, now you're going to buy her medicine! If you don't get it right, don't even think about leaving! You owe her this!"

Clayton ignored my struggles and grabbed me by the neck and shoved me into the room.

I clenched my teeth against the seared pain in my wrist and pounded on the door. I shouted, "You're insane! Let me out! Clayton, you'll regret this!"

He didn't stop, he kicked the door hard from outside. He shouted, "You're the insane one! Not until you admit your fault, stay in there!" With that, there was silence beyond the door.

The pain in my nearly fractured wrist left me unable to move. In the darkness, training memories flooded my mind.

Clayton knew I was afraid of the dark. Countless nights, he had held me to sleep. When nightmares woke me, he had handed me calming medicine.

But now, he had locked me in this hell for another woman, with his own hands.

My strength drained. Tears silently slid down.

Laughter drifted from upstairs now and then. I heard Angelina said, "Clayton, Sienna's afraid of the dark ... maybe we should let it go today? I didn't even get hurt anyway."

Clayton didn't care, he sneered, "That's exactly why I picked the basement. If we don't teach her a hard lesson, she'll never learn. You've still got eight months until delivery. What if she bullies you while I'm away? Her temper needs to be broken."

Angelina giggled playfully and asked on purpose, "You're so annoyed with Sienna, then why you want to marry her in the first place?"

Clayton answered, "No choice. All the rich girls in our city have bad tempers. I heard Sienna trained overseas six years ago, she's more stable than the rest. That's the only reason I considered her."

After a pause, Clayton suddenly chuckled and added, "Oh right, she's trained, not delicate. She'll make a good nanny for you. That way, I don't have to worry."

Upstairs finally went quiet. My body grew colder, as if I'd been tossed into an endless ocean. No end in sight.

Six years ago, I met Clayton by accident during a mission.

Just as I was about to be discovered by bodyguards, he pulled me into a corner. His cold lips brushed mine and he deepened the kiss.

The bodyguards thought we were just a couple fooling around and walked away.

Chapter 4

Under the dim light, he rubbed the scar in my palm. A rare trace of tenderness appeared in his eyes.

That fleeting warmth made me dazed for a moment.

I couldn't help but ask the question buried deep inside me, "You're not disgusted by it?"

He smiled and shook his head, "Why would I be? You're amazing, you're the most special woman I've ever met. Will we meet again? I really hope so."

Because of those words, I submitted a request to leave the organization after I returned. I endured cruel torture, I rolled over nail boards and had my limbs broken.

Half a year later, we met again at a banquet.

I was the eldest daughter of the Monroe Family, he was the heir of the Aiken Family. We naturally fell in love. And soon came the engagement between our families.

I thought I had found happiness for life. But I didn't expect to receive only lies. Only betrayal from the one I loved.

Everything my father and I suffered, Clayton will repay it tenfold, a hundredfold!

After two hours of rest, I recovered enough strength. I picked the lock with a hairpin and slipped back into the bedroom in the dark.

The moment the light came on, I froze. Everything that once belonged to me had been cleared out.

In its place were baby products filled the entire room. The walls were repainted a soft sky blue. The king-size bed was gone, replaced by a crib and rocking chair.

I turned to leave, but Angelina suddenly appeared at the door. She waved at me with a smile, "Sienna, are you looking for your things? Sorry, Clayton already converted this room into the nursery. He threw out a lot of junk during renovation, maybe you can try the trash bin?" She smiled proudly.

I stared coldly at her, I stepped closer with every word, "Stealing someone's secondhand man, does that make you proud? Angelina, I truly treated you as a friend, but today I finally see who you really are."

I added, "You know exactly where that heart came from. Do you really think clinging to Clayton means you've won it all?"

A flicker of panic crossed her eyes, her smile faded. She pretended, "Sienna, what are you saying? I don't understand."

I sneered, "You don't? Then let me make it clear, whether or not you marry Clayton, anything I want back, I will take back at all costs! You could steal him only because I didn't care … But some things, you couldn't handle them even if you tried. That's my final warning to you!"

Having torn off her mask, Angelina stopped pretending. Her eyes turned vicious while said, "So what if I took your dad's heart? Do you have proof?"

"You say you don't want Clayton, but you hate me to death inside, don't you? Too bad! Hate all you want, you're destined to lose! I'm the woman Clayton truly loves!" As soon as she finished, her face changed dramatically.

She began to smashed everything in the room. After she heard footsteps approach, she suddenly threw herself on the floor and began to cried hysterically, "Sienna … even if you're angry, you shouldn't hit me … You said I was your best friend, how could you treat me like this …"

Clayton stormed in and pulled her into his arms. His eyes were bloodshot with rage.

He turned and kicked me hard in the chest. He shouted, "Angelina was kind enough to let you out and this is how you repay her? Sienna, you're beyond saving!"

I crashed into the crib with full force, until it collapsed. The pieces rained down on me.

I laughed bitterly, "I'm beyond saving? Clayton, do you even hear yourself? I'm not blind, I don't need you to tell me what's what!"

All I got in return was his furious roar, "Sienna, I know your father's death traumatized you. Before the wedding, let's just not see each other anymore!"

Chapter 5

He roared, "When you've calmed down, then come see me again! Get out!"

Rage churned endlessly in my chest. Before I could resist, I was dragged out the door by security.

If I hadn't left the organization for him back then … If I hadn't rolled over that nail board … Right now, I'd be able to rush in and beat them both to a pulp. But … there were no what-ifs in this world.

A sense of helplessness drowned me as heavy rain soaked me to the bone. The wound on my forehead was repeatedly washed by the rain.

I walked two kilometers before I collapsed. A familiar scent of pine wrapped around me.

When I opened my eyes, I was already lying in a car, with Alastair's worried face in front of me. He asked, "How are you feeling?"

He continued, "Didn't we agree I'd step in for you? You let yourself get like this? If I hadn't come back, were you planning to just walk all the way home like this? Don't care about your body anymore?" His voice was anxious, but couldn't hide the concern underneath.

I couldn't help but force a smile and said, "You're worried about me? I'm not seeing things, am I? Even the leader of the Black Hole organization knows how to worry about people?"

Suddenly, I started coughing violently.

Alastair quickly patted my back to help me breathe and teased, "If you've got the energy to talk back, then your injuries aren't serious. I'm not worried about you, just afraid I'll become a widower before the wedding and have to collect your corpse. You believe that?"

The driver couldn't help but laughed, he said, "Mr. Kidman, you flew back overnight on a private jet and the first thing you do is argue with Miss Monroe? Miss Monroe, you don't know, when your father had an accident, Mr. Kidman dropped everything and flew back …"

"Old Jenkins, why are you talking so much?" Alastair purposely put on a cold face, but this time the driver wasn't scared at all.

He added, "The wedding is already set for one week from now, at the same hotel where you and Clayton were supposed to get married, saves me the trouble of finding a new venue."

The driver looked playfully through the rearview mirror and winked at me, "Is Mr. Kidman being efficient, or is this a declaration of war? Hard to say…"

A warmth spread through my chest, I couldn't help but look up at him. I thought agreeing to marry him was just to help him deal with his family. I didn't expect him to fly back overnight for me.

When I was in love with Clayton, even if he was only two hundred kilometers away on a business trip, he didn't bother showing up on my birthday. Turns out it wasn't about inconvenience.

For someone who truly loves you, even the ends of the earth were on the way.

During the six days I stayed in the hospital, Clayton never sent a single message. Alastair stayed by my side every day, he handled work only from his laptop.

The internet was flooded with news of the Kidman Group heir returning to the country. But no journalist ever captured a photo of the Kidman Family's young heir's face.

On the sixth day, I was discharged and Alastair went back to the old estate. Marriage wasn't a small matter, he still had to inform the elders.

I went alone to the hotel for the rehearsal. Just as I put on my wedding dress, a shrill voice rang out from afar, "Sienna? What a coincidence, you're here for rehearsal too? No wonder you two are such a couple, even after fighting, you're still so in sync."

Clayton had a cold expression, his arm around Angelina's shoulders, full of disdain.

He said, "You say you don't want to get married, but your body says otherwise. What, you're that desperate to marry me?"

He pointed at my wedding dress and said, "But I already promised that dress to Angelina. She's going to wear it for her maternity photos. Take it off, I'll rent you a different one."

I couldn't help but laugh in disbelief, "Give it to her? I'd rather shred it to pieces and throw it away than let her touch it!"

Clayton's face instantly turned red with rage. "Don't push your luck!" he threatened.

I curled my lips into a cold smile.

I said, "You want it, huh? Fine, I'll give it to you!"

I turned and went back into the room. Ten minutes later, the wedding dress had been cut into scraps and thrown at the doorway.

I mocked, "There you go. Why aren't you wearing it? Don't like it?"

Clayton was furious and tried to charge at me. But right then, Angelina clutched her belly and cried out in pain.

Before they left, he threw out a line, "Remember what you did today. If the groom doesn't show up tomorrow, don't come begging me on your knees!"

That evening, Alastair brought over a haute couture wedding dress, hundreds of times more expensive than the one from earlier.

I logged into his account and uploaded all of Angelina's information to the dark web.

On the wedding day, Clayton shamelessly sent a message: [I'll show up if you kneel and apologize to Angelina. Three apologies. Send a video.]

My fingers flew across the screen, I typed: [Sure. But where is your Angelina now?]

After sending the message, I hummed a tune and blocked him. Then I got into the wedding car.

At the same time, inside the Aiken Family villa, Clayton searched every room, no sign of Angelina.

He was about to lose his mind when his assistant called, panicked while said, "Bad news, Mr. Aiken! Angelina has been posted on the dark web! Someone's selling the birth rights to her unborn child! Price tag: 560 million! Exactly the entire Aiken Family's assets!"
