Chapter 3
They didn't know that after starving for so many days, the only reason I didn't die was because there was a force inside me that was holding me up. While Robert was asleep, Rebecca looked at me with a provocative face and said in a voice only I could hear.
“Angeline, I didn't expect you to have such luck in your life, you actually managed to come back alive. But it's not certain who will lose or win next, I managed to live in the Payne Family, so we still don't know who the real Mrs. Payne will be in the end, right?”
Rebecca's smug smile was mixed with a hint of viciousness and disgust. She had returned to Singapore half a year ago.
Before she came back, Robert's heart was all on me.
When I had a cold and fever, he would drive me to the hospital even at 3 am. When I wanted to eat pastries, Robert was worried that the ones made by others were not clean, so even if he was busy, he would come from the company to personally cook and bake for me.
I just accidentally cut my hand, Robert's eyes would turn red with heartache.
When I fainted from allergies, Robert was so scared that he called me Angel like a madman, fearing that he would lose me.
But when Rebecca came back, everything changed. He no longer called me Angel and most of the time he called me Angeline Rosendale with both my full name and surname.
The passenger seat of his Rolls Royce was no longer exclusively mine but was occupied by Rebecca for various reasons. Robert also no longer had time to cook for me and even took time for me only a few times.
Every time I went to see him, he was either accompanying Rebecca to visit Disney, eating hot pot, skiing or ice skating with her. Faced with my questioning, Robert impatiently and grumpily yelled at me every time.
“Angeline Rosendale, have you made enough of a scene or not? Rebecca is unfamiliar here. She doesn’t know anyone at all. So, what’s the problem if I can accompany her for a few more days? I have promised that I will definitely marry you in the future. Can you have a little bit of Mrs. Payne's demeanour? Please, don't embarrass yourself here.”
My thoughts gathered back to me. I just coldly looked at Robert in front of me. There wasn't a hint of sadness or even any hurt feelings, resentment. It was just like looking at a stranger. I almost forgot that after my rebirth, I had lost the ability to love people.
“Robert, can you let me sleep in this room? The lighting here is good, I like it.”
Rebecca returned to the Payne Family villa and picked my bedroom at a glance. She knew that it was filled with women's daily necessities, but she still pretended to be innocent and acted coquettishly.
“Can I have this room, please?”
Robert was just about to nod in agreement, but then he hesitated. “This is Angel's room, Rebecca. Everything here is decorated by her. It has to be done with her consent.”
He looked at me with a difficult face. Before he could say anything, I smiled and nodded.
“Of course, you can stay in this room, Rebecca.”
Robert looked at me unexpectedly and said, “How could you say this?”
He probably couldn't figure out that I, who would usually blush at the sight of Rebecca, was like I met an enemy. ‘I know you think how could I agree so easily nowadays?’
“If Rebecca likes it, then let it go to her. I know if she's happy, you're happy, aren't you?”
Rebecca was also completely stunned and the two of them looked at me in surprise. Waiting for them to react, I used to hug the pillow and pack up my things. Then I moved to the next guest bedroom next door.
I was so tired after these days in Antarctica. I felt I needed to have a good sleep, because when I woke up, I would figure out what I was going to do in the future. It was already dark when I woke up. When I opened my eyes, I realized there was someone beside my bed. I was just about to be alert when Robert slowly spoke out.
“Angel, why did you throw our engagement rings into the trash?”
His eyes were already red and he tried his best to suppress his voice. I was a little stunned to hear his words.

Robert still stared at me. “Don't you love this ring so much? You also don’t let anyone be allowed to touch it.”
I looked down and saw a lady's wedding ring in the trash. It was the ring from Robert. He had proposed to me two years ago. I did think it was a good thing at the time, only it was a useless piece of trash to me now.
“It probably fell off accidentally, Robert.”
I spoke carelessly, putting on my clothes and preparing to get out of bed. But Robert silently pulled my arm.
“Angeline, why do I feel like you are different after returning from Antarctica?”
The corner of my mouth raised a cold smile. ‘Are you sure, Robert?’, asked me in my heart, ‘But the real surprise is still behind, Robert’. I just left the villa in the afternoon, when a vase fell straight down from the second floor without any warning and hit me on my head impartially. Immediately blood flowed like a stream.
“Ah, Ms. Angeline, I'm sorry.”
On the second floor balcony, an anxious face poked out. Rebecca apologized to me handily.
“I don't know how the vase missed and fell down, Ms. Angeline.”
Robert who heard the commotion also rushed out in a hurry. “What's going on here?”
Robert changed his face and rushed to find a medicine box to help me stop the bleeding. But that blood was like an out of control faucet, it couldn't be stopped. He then panicked
“Driver, hurry up. We must go to the hospital.”
Robert almost yelled out. He hurriedly picked me up and put me carefully into the passenger seat. I smiled coldly, this passenger seat has been a long time coming. The doctor worked on my head for a while before he managed to stop the bleeding.
Robert's furious voice came from outside the corridor, “Rebecca, you've gone too far this time. Don't you know how dangerous it is to throw things from high places? Luckily Angeline is fine this time. If there was any danger to her life, could you be held responsible?”
Rebecca's aggrieved crying voice came out. “I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to do it, Robert. I didn't think the vase would slip and fall. Please believe me, if anything happens to Ms. Angeline, I will not make things difficult for you later. I promise to you, Robert.”
Rebecca's delicate voice really made a man want to protect her. I knew with these seemingly understanding words, it made it even more difficult for Robert to say anything to blame her.
“Well, I didn't mean to blame you, Rebecca. But it was you who got Angeline hurt this time. Go and apologize to her.”
Rebecca knelt in front of me right in front of Robert. “Ms. Angeline, I'm sorry. It's me who caused you to have a bloody head.”

Robert went downstairs to buy some food for dinner. Rebecca changed her face again, she unlocked the door of the ward and viciously pressed my head on the hospital bed. She exerted force on my wound.
“Angeline, you really do have a big life. How can you can't even die like this? I really underestimated you.”
I stared coldly at Rebecca and she suddenly laughed.
“You don't know that the doctor just now was paid off by me, do you? In the medicine he gave you, he added a bit of material, even if you didn't die, this wound will still hurt you to death.”
But I just looked at her in confusion. She didn't know yet. My whole body was unconscious. It was the aftermath of me falling under the water of the Antarctic glacier. The undead spirit attached to the ice spirit told me that there was an ancient virus from billions of years ago under the deep water of the glacier. When I was drowning, I drank several gulps of glacier water. Those ancient viruses had already taken root in my body and mutated. I didn't realize that I had no consciousness until after I came back.
I smiled coldly and grabbed Rebecca's wrist with my hand. “You've been the one bullying me for so long, Rebecca. Now it's my turn to get justice.”
Rebecca instantly turned pale with fear. “Angeline, what are you doing?”
I slowly twisted my head. My gaze fell on the vase on the windowsill. In the next second, the vase shattered on Rebecca's head.
