Chapter 4
From this place, I kept witnessing what happened to the world I had left behind. Even if my heart no longer beat like in the past, it still ached with every scene I watched. After all, I could see clearly that both Oliver and Meredith were planning their wedding happily.
The preparations were excessive and sickening, which made me want to scream even though I was powerless to act. It was infuriating to see them so happy. Their joy was a stark contrast to the grief and anger that consumed me.
But then my attention was diverted by something else. On the other side of the castle, the elders were gathering to discuss about Oliver’s actions. Their faces showed concern and frustration as they tried to reason with Oliver. Yet, their attempts seemed futile against his stubborn denial.
One of the elders, Elder Albert, exclaimed in anger, “Alpha, this is madness!”
The old man continued to talk in anger, “How can you think of getting married when you’ve bonded with your Luna?”
Immediately, Oliver was infuriated.
“Shut up! Meredith is pregnant with my child. I don’t want to hear any of this. I’ll sever my mating bond with that bitch Charlotte by the Moon Priestess’ permission and ask her to marry Meredith with me,” he insisted with a tone of coldness and dismissiveness.
“You should’ve known that this is just another of her tricks where she would use you guys. She was always manipulative. This is no different to those old schemes of that bitch did,” the Alpha continued.
Beside him, Meredith slightly grinned. Surely, she felt like a victor. But the Moon Goddess promised me that the people who hurt me would pay the price, so I could only just wait for her words to come true as I kept watching the scene before me.
“It’s just one of Charlotte’s schemes,” she said sweetly.
After that, the mistress kept talking, “You know how she could be. This is her way of trying to ruin our happiness.”
Her words were like daggers that kept stabbing my heart without stopping. Oliver’s refusal to accept the truth of my death combined with Meredith’s manipulation really hurt me. I couldn’t help but let out tears because of how easy my life was taken. It was so unfair!
‘I really hoped that they’d be miserable sooner,’ I thought to myself.
The pack members around them were visibly enraged, their frustration boiling over as Oliver’s delusions continued to push them to the edge.
“This is madness,” another elder, Elder Alphonse, said as he shook his head.
The old man then said, “We cannot stand by while you, our Alpha, disregards our Luna for a whore! This is a disgrace an insult to our traditions.”
Despite the elders who voiced their protests, Oliver remained unmoved. The Alpha was like a man possessed as he refused to believe my death. It seemed that he had made up his mind.
As the tension in the room reached its peak, Beta Edward stepped forward. Unlike the tension around him, the Beta was calm and collected as if he tried to calm the pack down.
“Enough,” he said, his voice cutting through the uproar.
‘I wondered what he would say,’ I told myself.
To my shock, the man then continued, “Let the Alpha do as he wishes.”
Immediately, the pack members fell silent. All of them looked at the Beta as if he went insane. Or it might be the case.
“How can you support this madness?” Elder Alphonse asked in a demanding tone.
Elder Albert also protested as he said sternly, “You know that this is very wrong, Beta!”
Yet, Edward’s gaze was steady as he looked at the questioning pack elders.
“It is not our place to interfere in the Alpha’s decisions,” the Beta calmly stated.
He continued, “If Alpha Oliver wishes to proceed with this wedding, then so be it. We have other matters to attend to.”
The elders reluctantly left the castle as soon as they heard Edward’s words. As for me, I was also feeling uncomfortable hearing his response. That wasn’t like the Beta I knew who would fight for me.
‘Or maybe I didn’t really know Edward,’ I thought to myself sadly.
Still, I couldn’t help but wonder what he was truly up to. Why would the Beta, who had seemed so displeased with Oliver’s behavior, suddenly choose to back him? What was his intention?
‘What are you planning, Edward?’ I asked myself as I kept looking at Edward who looked very nonchalant amidst all of this madness.
Thus, the wedding preparations still continued amidst the mourning of my death tht my husband even had no idea of. Although I was angry, I knew that I couldn’t do anything. After all, I was no longer part of the living world.
I could only watch as Oliver and Meredith were celebrating their shamelessness. They blatantly ignored the people at the castle who looked at them disapprovingly. Frankly, it was just upsetting to see their happiness while I died in misery. But I knew it wasn’t something I could interfere.
As the wedding day drew closer, I knew I was on the brink of something important. Oliver’s delusions and Meredith’s scheming were just part of a larger story, one that was far from over. My spirit burned with a need for justice, and I was determined to see it through, no matter what it took.
For now, I could only watch and wait to see how everything would be unfolded. I really hoped that the truth would come to light. Then, I would see with my own eyes that Oliver’s lies would be ruined because of the justice.
‘I hope they’ll suffer soon,’ I told myself as I watched them with hatred.
Chapter 5
Today was supposed to be Oliver and Meredith’s wedding day. But the Alpha was now becoming anxious. Not only that the Moon Priestess refused to appear, but I wasn’t even tere.
His eyes that used to be very cold to everyone had become desperate to look for me as if I would reappear magically before him. He began wondering where I was.
“Where is Charlotte? Why I can’t find her?” he muttered to himself as he became anxious because he hadn’t met me in weeks.
It was obvious that Meredith noticed that Oliver became more and more anxious. Clearly, she knew that she had to divert my husband’'s attention on her again. So, she had been thinking of something to make him forget me.
“Darling,” she called Oliver gently as she forced out a fake soft smile.
The mistress said, “We really need to focus on the wedding, okay? There’s so much to do, and we can’t afford any distractions.”
Since the Moon Priestess refused to sever my mating bond and marry both Oliver and Meredith, they eventually decided to marry by themselves. The people in the castle could only keep their heads down about their Alpha’s shameless behavior. But they all disagreed with what he did.
Before both Oliver and Meredith could proceed their wedding, something unexpected then happened. The grand doors of the castle burst open very loudly to the point. When both Oliver and Meredith were looking, they were in shock.
It turned out to be Alpha George Tilbury and Lilianne Tilbury, Oliver’s parents.
My parents-in-law were already retiring, letting Oliver be the next Alpha and I was the next Luna. They already announced to the pack that they wished to focus the rest of their lives on the Moon Goddess. In fact, both of them went on a pilgrimage on a Moonton to revere the Moon Goddess.
They didn’t look happy at all.
“Oliver Tilbury!” Alpha George shouted angrily with his thunderous Alpha voice.
As Oliver was about to answer, he was then stopped by his father who kept shouting, “What in the name of the Moon Goddess do you think you’re doing? Have you lost all sense of honor?”
“Father, Mother ... w-what are you doing here?” he asked in shock.
Luna Lilianne’s gaze was as cold as ice as she glared at her son scathingly and answered coldly, “We came to demand that you come to your senses. How dare you abandon your wife for this whore!”
“You’ve dishonored our family,” my father-in-law continued with a tone of anger and disappointment.
“How dare you leave Charlotte, your own Luna, for a woman like her!” the Alpha shouted out loudly as he pointed Meredith in disgust.
To my shock, Meredith looked at them in defiance as she talked even though her voice wavered, “This woman is going to be your new Luna. Today is our wedding.”
“You will do no such thing when the Alpha is mated to his Luna!” Lilianne shouted angrily.
Oliver looked incensed, but he tried to control his anger as he tried to justify his actions by telling his mother, “I don’t understand. Charlotte is just missing. It’s just a trick. I don’t know where she is, but I can’t be expected to-”
Before the Alpha could finish his sentence, his father cut him off, “You think you can absolve yourself of this by marrying Meredith?”
“You’ve failed us as a husband, as a son, and as an Alpha!” he shouted in anger.
In a demanding tone, he angrily asked his son as he grabbed my husband by the collar, “What have you done? How could you disregard the life of your wife just for your mistress?”
“I don’t understand, Father. How come Charlotte is gone? Are you sure?” the man questioned his father coldly.
Alpha Oliver then turned to the elders and Edward, “Lead us to the catacomb!”
The Beta just nodded grimly as he and the elders then led Oliver, Meredith, Alpha George, and Luna Lilianneto the catacomb. Soon, the group moved in tense silence through the castle before they finally arrived at the entrance to the catacombs. Gloominess filled the air as the catacombs were opened.
There were two warriors who were guarding my body. Edward greeted them, telling them to be outside. After that, the Beta led the group to a deeper part of the catacomb. It was the place where my body was laid to rest.
“Here is Luna Charlotte,” Edward said as he led them to my body.
Everyone could see my body clearly. My body looked very thin while my face looked very gaunt. Seeing my body truly saddened me because I knew how miserable my life used to be. Yet, it also gave me strength because I knew that I had to make sure that I would be avenged no matter what.
My husband approached my body while his whole body trembled. His eyes widened as he saw the elaborate tomb where my body was laid to rest. The man kept shaking his head in denial. Even then, he knew that what he saw was real. Indeed, I had passed away.
“N-no … this can’t be true!” the Alpha shouted in frustration.
