Chapter 6

The school opened and the teachers sent the children over to their parents one by one.

Mian was the last one to come out. She ran towards Shawn happily.

But when she got there, Shawn didn't hug her.

Instead, he held the bouquet and handed it to the girl in the security room.

I pointed the phone at the girl whose profile was only visible.

She looked very pretty when she smiled, with shallow dimples on her face.

She was the kind of girl who looked innocent at first glance.

Next to that girl, Shawn's smile was gentle and relaxed.

Shawn gently tucked the girl's hair behind her ears.

The affection in their eyes was undisguised in the slightest.

I returned home in a daze, stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the vehicles passing by below, and couldn't help feeling a chill in my heart.

I had known for a long time that Shawn didn't like me.

After all, we didn't get together because of love.

In the first two years of our marriage, Shawn never touched me and we always slept in separate rooms.

Suddenly one day, he drank too much and was sent home by Kevin.

When I was changing his clothes, he suddenly leaned over and pressed me under him.

He was crazy and merciless to me that night.

He didn't stop even though I kept screaming in pain.

The next day, he was at a loss when he saw me tortured to the point of being unable to move and the bed sheets covered in red.

It was at that time that I was pregnant with Mian.

Chapter 7

It was almost eight o'clock when Shawn came back with Mian.

I didn't turn on the light, and Mian came into the room and went straight to me who was standing in front of the window.

Shawn turned on the main light, and the light hurt my eyes.

I covered my eyes and felt dizzy.

"What's wrong with you?"

Shawn helped me sit down on the sofa. His cold hand rested on my forehead for a moment, and he quickly went into the house to take out the ear thermometer.

"You're having a fever, Alice, why didn't you tell me?"

His tone sounded reproach.

I closed my eyes and let him look at me.

I didn't know how his relationship developed with that girl.

Did they kiss or have sex?

Thinking of this, my stomach churned, and then I covered my mouth and ran to the bathroom.

"Mom, are you going to have a baby?"

I was squatting beside the toilet and retching, and Mian came over and handed me a wet wipe.

I looked up and met Shawn's complicated look.

I had no idea how to explain to a four-year-old kid how babies came.

Shawn and I hadn't had sex for nearly half a year.

I'd been with him for seven years, but we had sex no more than ten times in total.

And every time he did it when he was drunk.

Chapter 8

Shawn was cooking in the kitchen, and Mian was sitting on the bed with me, holding a sketchbook.

After a while, Mian drew a picture.

It was a picture of a family of four, a man, a woman, and two children.

"What did you draw?"

I thought Mian drew it because she thought I was pregnant.

"Mom, they are dad, Ms. Milton, me, and Owen."

I was startled suddenly, and it felt like something in my heart was breaking, causing pain.

"Owen? Who is he?"

"He is Ms. Milton's child!"

Mian answered with an innocent look and even drew a bouquet on Ms. Milton's hand.

I narrowed my eyes and thought about it.

Could it be that Shawn and Ms. Milton both cheated on their spouses?

Shawn came in with the food.

After seeing Mian's painting, he paused for a moment, then soon returned to normal.

He didn't know that I noticed his reaction.

He never showed his emotions.

Today, I was mentally broken down because of a painting.

I didn't expose what he did today.

After eating, I sent a message.

"Are you free to meet at noon tomorrow?"
