Chapter 7

Gloria’s father left two bodyguards to watch over Gloria. After the door of the ward was closed, Gloria contacted another hospital again.

At that time, she was currently working under the Norton Group and she did not want to have anything to do with Manuel and those biased parents anymore.

After contacting the hospital, Gloria changed out of her hospital gown and quietly left while the bodyguard at the door went to eat.

However, at the corner of the hospital corridor, an argument between her father and Slyvia was heard.

Gloria paused.

“Sylvia, you are too impatient. It is easy to find someone to set the fire. Fortunately, I stopped Manuel and did not let him pursue the matter.

“Otherwise, I can’t protect you anymore once he knows the person behind the scenes is you. Don't be so reckless next time,” Gloria’s father advised in an angry tone.

“Humph, it's because you are too incompetent! You promised my mother that you would give me everything in the Huerta Family, but what happened? Are you reluctant to part with your daughter? You should know that not only Gloria is your biological daughter, but me too!” Sylvia sneered.

“How can I be reluctant? If I was really reluctant, why would I have personally designed that car accident three years ago? Sylvia, you have to know that I will always love you and your mother.”

A satisfied chuckle finally rang out from the corner, “And Manuel, I want his people and I also want the Norton Family behind him.”

The conversation between the two was like thunder exploding in Gloria's ears.

For a moment, she felt the blood in her body stagnate.

The truth was too shocking.

Gloria could not help but take a step back, her nails digging into her palms.

She seemed like a frozen sculpture with only her pupils trembling and expanding and contracting.

Her biological father actually wanted to kill her for Silvya, her father’s illegitimate daughter.

Gloria suddenly found that she seemed to have never known her sanctimonious father.

Suddenly, a cold wind blew through the hall. Gloria could not help but shiver and suddenly realized she should leave the hospital quickly.

The next second, she rushed towards home.

Gloria’s mother and Manuel at home were both stunned when they saw her.

Then Gloria’s mother's expression quickly turned cold as she asked, “Why did you come back?”

Manuel also frowned.

Gloria tightly grasped her mother's hand and said in a trembling voice, “Mom, Manuel, I just heard the conversation between Dad and Slyvia. It turns out that Dad planned our car accident three years ago and Slyvia is his illegitimate daughter!”

The expressions of Gloria’s mother and Manuel both changed.

“Are you telling the truth?”

Gloria nodded. Even though she was disheartened, when she knew the truth, she subconsciously wanted to remind them not to be fooled.

But behind him came Slyvia's collapsed voice, “Sister?”

Gloria's heart tightened and she turned around to meet the gaze of her father and Slyvia.

Slyvia shook her head in disbelief, as if she was finally completely disappointed in her. She looked at Gloria with tears of pain in her eyes.

“I didn't expect you could make up such a lie. Isn't your father's love for you enough? Even a tiger won't eat its own cubs, let alone your father!

“And me, I know that I was accepted into the Huerta Family as your substitute because I look like you. If it weren't for this face, I would never have the chance to have a father, mother and brother who loves me so much.

“But you can't slander me just because I look like you, sister!”

Hearing her words, Gloria’s mother, who was originally in doubt, immediately threw away her doubts and quickly told Slyvia, “No, I never doubt you and my husband. So, please don’t worry, okay?”

Manuel also looked at Gloria and said, “You can even come up with such a childish way of alienating us, Gloria.”

It was like a bucket of ice water was poured over her head.

Gloria moved her lips. After calming down, she felt that it was a mistake for her to run back.

Chapter 8

She should not mind her own business.

Finally, she curled her lips, laughed at herself and walked out.

“Where are you going?” Gloria’s father, who had a gloomy face and remained silent, stopped her.

Gloria took a deep breath and said the decision she had made a long time ago, “I want to sever ties with the Huerta Family and move out.”

Everyone's expression changed again.

“Don't even think about it. Even if I beat you to death today, I won't let you embarrass the Huerta Family in public. Come on, bring the whip!”

The servant quickly brought up a whip.

Gloria was pressed to the ground and the whip was whipped hard, leaving a bloody whip mark on her back.

But the pain was nothing compared to the humiliation she was suffering at that moment.

And no one tried to stop that outrageous and absurd scene and everyone just watched coldly.

In the end, Gloria's entire back was torn apart and she fainted from the pain.

After unknown amount of time, she was awakened by a chill.

Gloria opened her eyes and saw Manuel sitting beside the bed and applying medicine to her.

Under the light, the man's eyebrows and eyes were as gentle as water, but Gloria avoided his touch.

Manuel raised his eyes to look at her, “Does it hurt?”

Gloria ignored him.

Manuel reached out and pushed aside Gloria's hair that was blocking her ears before he said, “Gloria, everything has to have a limit. If you go too far, you will be the only one who will be embarrassed, right?”

Gloria remained silent.

She used to argue and make a fuss because she still had expectations for those people, but at that moment she did not want to even look at them again.

Manuel originally wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with Gloria. He felt that if Gloria continued like that, she would only become more and more extreme and unreasonable.

So, he wanted to tell her that he would not despise her even if she was disfigured and he just hoped that she could return to being the lively and kind person she was three years ago.

He also wanted to tell her that although Slyvia liked him and suffered from depression because she did not get his response, he always treated Slyvia as his sister and he would definitely marry her when Slyvia recovered from her illness.

However, Gloria remained unmoved.

Manuel's voice became deeper as he continued, “Gloria!”

Just when his patience was about to run out, Slyvia came in from outside and interrupted, “Manuel, let me persuade my sister. The conflict between you and my sister is mainly because of me. If we talk it out, everything will be much easier to solve.”

Manuel thought about it and felt that what Slyvia said made sense, but he was afraid that Gloria would hurt someone again.

“It's okay. My sister has been beaten like this now,” Slyvia said distressedly, “how can she still have the energy to hit me?”

After Manuel left, Slyvia wiped away her crocodile tears and looked at Gloria with a cruel smile, “I didn't expect that you could eavesdrop on what I said to my father. You never thought that your biological father would want to kill you, right?

“At that time, I was worrying about how to replace you and Manuel came to me. Now, for my sake, he has abandoned you many times.

“Your mother is even more bizarre. She loves her mistress's daughter more than her own daughter.”

Then, she touched Gloria's burned face and sighed, “I feel sorry for you, so I'll help you get rid of it!”

Gloria's heart suddenly started to ring with alarm bells. “What are you doing?”

“I heard that you have blood clots in your brain. You can't get hit, otherwise you will become a vegetable again,” Slyvia said as he dragged her to the stairs outside.

Gloria realized something, but there was no way to stop it. She could only watch Slyvia forcibly drag her down the stairs.

There was an earth-shattering noise at the staircase.

Gloria's head hit the floor hard and for a few minutes, she did seem to have returned to her unconscious vegetative state.

Chapter 9

Slowly, a sharp pain exploded from the back of her head. Gloria immediately curled up in pain and uttered a weak, “Save me.”

But in the blurred vision, everyone ran anxiously towards Slyvia who fell on the other side.

She watched Manuel pick up Slyvia and rushed to the hospital with her parents.

Just like last time, she was abandoned where she was and no one cared about her.

The pain in her body became more and more intense. Gloria's eyes went dark.

Gathering her last bit of strength, she crawled a few meters, picked up the phone that had fallen to the ground and called the emergency number for herself.

Gloria woke up after a narrow escape, she unexpectedly found Manuel and her parents there. However, Gloria did not receive a word of concern, only harsh rebukes.

“Sylvia's leg and wrist were broken. Did you know that she was a dancer? What are you going to use to compensate her now?

“If I had known you were such a nuisance, I would never have let you be born. I no longer have a daughter like you!”

Gloria knew that Slyvia must be throwing all the dirty water on her again.

She closed her eyes, then looked at her parents who were shouting at her at the top of their lungs and Manuel who was silent and had unpredictable emotions beside her and exhaled a breath of hot air.

‘I don't want relatives like you either,’ she muttered in her mind.

If possible, Gloria really wanted to shout out that sentence, but she was wearing an oxygen mask and was so weak that she could not utter a single word.

In the end, it was Manuel who persuaded Gloria’s father and mother to leave, while he himself stayed.

When their eyes met, he reached out and touched Gloria's pale face. Suddenly, he changed his usual indifference and spoke in a gentle voice, “Sylvia said that you wanted to take her down with you. I know this is not your intention.”

Gloria was surprised. Could it be that Manuel finally saw through Slyvia's true face?

But the next second, the man said, “I just consulted a psychiatrist. When a vegetative patient wakes up, his personality may change drastically due to brain damage. I'm sorry, I never thought of this possibility.”

Manuel's eyes flashed with pity and annoyance, “My Gloria used to be generous, kind and lovely. You are so different from her, but I only realized it now.”

“Fortunately, it's not too late now,” Manuel took a deep breath, “I will help you contact the best mental hospital. Don't worry, Gloria, I will cure you.”

He leaned over and kissed Gloria's forehead, “I hope that by then, you can return to your old self.”

The young lady of the Norton Family must be generous and steady. He could not marry a crazy person who was extreme and hurtful to others.

Manuel's words were gentle, but Gloria felt creepy. She tried her best to refuse, but her voice was too low and only a layer of white mist appeared on her oxygen mask.

Manuel did not ask for her opinion. After that, he told Gloria's parents about his plan.

Wealthy families were very averse to having any direct descendant with a mental illness, as they would be laughed at if it got out.

But that time Gloria had hurt people repeatedly, even to the point of wanting to kill people. If she continued like that, she would become a complete demon.

Gloria’s mother hesitated for a moment, but then nodded and agreed.

Gloria’s father and Slyvia, who had ulterior motives, of course fully agreed.

Slyvia suggested softly, “I know a sanatorium with good confidentiality and treatment results. It will definitely cure my sister.”

Then, from an angle where no one could see, she met Gloria's fearful and rejecting gaze, smiled faintly and said silently, “Fall into my hands, I'll see how you can escape this time.”

Heart-wrenching screams rang out in the electric shock room and the person tied to the treatment bed kept twitching, convulsing and twisting all over.
