Chapter 2

Although Elvis and I were engaged in a family marriage, we had known each other for a long time.

I got engaged to 25-year-old Elvis when I was 18 years old.

At that time, Elvis was completely handsome, in my heart.

I returned home after completing my studies at 26 and married Elvis, who was 33 years old.

We had been married for two years, but I had not been pregnant.

Everyone was anxious, including me.

Except Elvis.

He withstood all the pressure and held me, saying that it was enough to live with me.

His hair was still dripping with water when he came out.

"Jessica, remember to take the medicine. I will ask the doctor to prescribe it for you after you finish taking it. If you get pregnant, you won't have to suffer anymore."

I hid the pill in my palm and pretended to swallow it with a glass of water.

I started preparing for pregnancy after marriage, and these pills were brought back by Elvis from the hospital.

Presumably, he had been with the young girl before this, and this medicine was his promise to her.

I hadn't been able to get pregnant for a long time. The fertility medicine I've been taking was actually contraceptive!

Elvis saw that I obediently finished taking the medicine and came forward to hug me.

"I'm too tired from the business trip. Shall I sleep in another room tonight, okay?"

I nodded silently.

Elvis slept in another room if he came late after his business trip.

He said it was too tired after work and he was afraid that snoring at night would affect me.

Now it seemed that this was also a promise he made to her.

I'm so silly.

I loved Elvis for a whole decade from the age of 18 to 28!

I was not even worthy of having a child for him in his mind!

I lay alone in bed and cried.

The wedding photo on the bedside was still bright and new, but I was old.

There was a loud noise outside the door before I finished crying. Someone was banging on it frantically.

This was a high-end villa area, and outsiders could not enter, except for our parents who had registered at the security office, there was no one else.

By the time I got up, Elvis had already hurriedly gone out, without even putting on his coat.

Through the crack in the door, I saw a slender figure, a young girl.

Soon, there was a fierce argument outside, the girl wanted to break in, and Elvis wanted to drive her away.

When the door was about to close, I grabbed it.

Chapter 3

Our eyes met. It was the girl whose WhatsApp was pinned by Elvis.

Elvis blocked me in front of him.

"Jessica, go back. I will explain to you later."

I didn't move.

"Who is she, and why can she enter our residence?"

Elvis's face sank, "Jessica, stop making trouble. I just said for you to go in first!"

This was the first time Elvis had spoken to me in such a harsh tone.

The girl was angry just now, but now she was laughing triumphantly.

"Yes, we celebrate every anniversary here, and the security guards here know me!"

Every one?

Is their anniversary around Christmas? Every Christmas after our marriage, Elvis would send me back to my parents' home in advance.

He said I was my parents' good girl, and I should accompany them at Christmas.

I didn't think I married the wrong person at that time. I wanted to be with Elvis for the rest of my life.

But he wanted to make room for another woman!

There was no need to guess. It was that girl who made the unreasonable request. What surprised me was that Elvis indulged her.

He was a principled person to everyone, including himself.

But he indulged her.

"Jessica, I don't want to say it for the third time. Go back first!"

Elvis lowered his voice and shouted at me.

That girl followed me home and provoked me unreasonably, but he never said a harsh word to her.

But he shouted at me for her. My parents had never shouted at me like this.

Also, he stood in front of me, was he protecting her?

The girl escaped from him and rushed towards me.

She was holding a paper report in her hand, and I caught sight of the words 'Maternity Hospital'.

I was afraid and tried to push her away.

Before I could touch her, I was forcefully pushed back.

Elvis protected the girl in his arms once again.

"Jessica, have you gone crazy! Lara is pregnant!"

There was something exploded in my mind, buzzing loudly.

He said he didn't like children, and he wasn't in a hurry to have kids. It was all an excuse.

He just didn't like the children I give birth to.

Elvis took that girl away and didn't come back all night.

I sat on the sofa until dawn.

Elvis didn't answer the phone, and he didn't reply to the messages I sent him.

He didn't even give a fake explanation!

After seven o'clock in the morning, there was a sound of opening the door at the entrance.

I thought it was Elvis who came back, but when I turned my head, I saw two people.

Chapter 4

Elvis had a gloomy face and pushed the girl in front of me.

But he cherished that girl so much last night.

"Lara, apologize to her!"

At this time, the girl had removed her makeup, and her clean face was like a well-behaved little rabbit.

Elvis liked her was correct.

He mentioned many times that when he saw me first, I was only eighteen years old and as lively as a little rabbit.

"Jessica, I was wrong! I shouldn't have forged the pregnancy test report. I shouldn't come to provoke you! I'm not pregnant, and I shouldn't think that I can replace your position! Please forgive me!"

Lara became more and more aggrieved as she spoke, and finally burst into tears.

I caught a glimpse of the subtle change in Elvis's expression.

I understood him, he was feeling sorry for me.

I sighed.

Forget it, I didn't want to get involved in this kind of thing, so I asked Elvis for a divorce.

As soon as Lara heard that I wanted a divorce, she cried even harder.

"Please, Jessica, don't divorce him! He said that he would kneel until you forgive him. If he can't coax you, he will never see me again!"

I stood up in a hurry, and my vision went black for a moment, almost causing me to fall.

Elvis quickly supported me and let me lean on his shoulder.

"Did you eat? You're already grown up, and you still can't take care of yourself!"

I had hypoglycemia for a long time. When I was studying abroad, I couldn't get used to foreign food. That was the reason.

After getting married, I thought I had recovered. Because Elvis always reminded me to eat well in time.

"Elvis, I don't want to make a scene. I'll go find the marriage certificate, and let's get a divorce. There's nothing much to divide in terms of property. We had it notarized before marriage, so whatever belongs to whom is theirs."

He tightly held onto my arms and said, "I disagree! Jessica, I will never divorce you even if I die!"

Lara forgot to cry on the ground, her gaze complicated as she stared at Elvis.

Perhaps, he also made promises to her.

Men's words, just listen and forget, especially sweet words.

I struggled hard and almost fell down again.

Elvis got angry, "Jessica, are you in such a hurry to leave me? It was you who said you wanted to be with me for a lifetime!"

I pushed away his hand and said, "Only you, not you two! She came here and you're still talking about the past? How shameless you are!"

"Elvis, it was you who betrayed our marriage! You're the unfaithful one, so you have no right to shout at me! And although her pregnancy test was fake, the fact that you didn't want me to get pregnant is true"

I didn't make a big scene or apart the faces of both families. I had done everything I could, and there was nothing more to say to a cheating husband.

I didn't want to get caught up in endless internal conflicts because of his mistakes. It was better to separate as soon as possible.

Even though I loved him so much, for so many years.

Elvis held onto me and wouldn't let go.

"Just because of this, you want to divorce me? She has never been to our home, let alone celebrate any anniversaries with her here!"

Elvis lightly kicked the girl on the ground.

"Lara, explain to Jessica why you could come in last night!"

I really didn't want to continue watching them. I wanted Elvis to drive that girl away.

"Elvis, calm down. You don't want to make a big deal out of this and let our parents get upset, do you?"

"But I already told them before I came back, and they will be here soon."

I was angrier.

"Did you tell your parents?"

Elvis chuckled, "And your parents too."
