Chapter 4

His anticlimactic comments amused me to no end. I just asked in my heart, ‘Wasn't the illegitimate daughter he spat on and despised with his mouth his sweetheart?’

Being snickered at by me, Benedict became irritated. He took out a card and threw it at me.

“Take the money and hurry to get this face fixed, Rebecca. Whenever I see you look like Adelaide, I feel sick!!”

Once, when he was warming up to me, he said he loved my face the most. But he didn't know that Adelaide's face showed that she had done it.

I met Adelaide’s gaze full of complacency and provocation. She was calm as water. Benedict did not wait for the expected begging for mercy. His heart was inexplicably flustered.

But soon, his uneasiness was completely enraged by my ambiguous smile. Benedict turned around and took out a box of cakes from the refrigerator. He heavily slammed it on the table.

“This is the birthday cake that Eugene begged me to buy. You'd better be sensible and bring him out to recognize his mistake, otherwise, don't expect me to give him a birthday party in the future!”

It was the first time Benedict bought a birthday cake for our son, Eugene Mortimer. Unfortunately, the cake collapsed due to external forces and revealing the mango inside. I was shocked that Benedict didn’t know that his son was allergic to mangoes.

I caressed the urn in my arms. Then I laughed with tears in my eyes.

I replied to him loudly, “As you wish, my husband. Eugene is really dead. So, there will be no birthday celebrations for him anymore. I swear to you. ”

Benedict's face was suddenly gloomy. Adelaide, who was on the side, covered her mouth hypocritically.

She exclaimed at me, “Rebecca, is it still okay for me to forgive Eugene? If you don't want him to apologize, you don't have to curse your own son, right?”

Benedict was enraged. He suddenly slapped away the urn in my arms with force.

“Rebecca, can you recognize your own position? Don't think that just because you gave me a son, you'll succeed in your position!”

I scrambled to hold the urn out. I held it tightly in my arms.

“Benedict Mortimer! You've already helped her steal everything from me, right? So, why do you still want to kill my son?”

He then realized that he had missed his words and called out my real name. His face reddened as he tried to explain.

I exposed him coldly. “Benedict, Adelaide is the mistress you spit on. Her mother is also a mistress!”

He realized that he couldn't hide it anymore. Benedict then smashed the urn with a sullen face.

He shouted at me, “Enough! The one who is not loved in love is the mistress. Since you know I love her, you shouldn't have combined with my mom to put on a show. Now you're even making an urn to seek bad luck. You're really as cheap as your mother, Rebecca. I know that you also know that you're not loved but still using all means to fight for a favour!”

The urn was smashed. The ashes were scattered all over the floor. I knelt on the ground and gathered them with my hands like crazy. Meanwhile, my tears fell uncontrollably.

“Oh, no, my son, Eugene.”

Benedict looked on with cold eyes. He gave me an ultimatum.

Benedict explained, “I will give you a month to have plastic surgery, Rebecca. Then you are not allowed to appear in front of me with this face again, okay? For the sake of our past relationship, as long as you behave yourself and don't make trouble with our son, I will come to see you once a month”

After he finished speaking, he turned around to change the clothes soiled by the ashes. Adelaide still looked at me. She then stepped on the back of my hand.

Adelaide taunted me in a lower voice, “Rebecca, I thought your mother's death would teach you a lesson. You deserve your son to die for snatching a man from me!”

I replied briefly, “My mom and I never miss anything we like.”

At this moment, I was certain that the car accident that caused my mother's tragic death was not a casual accident. I could no longer hold back the anger in my heart. So, I stood up and slapped her hard on the face.

Benedict heard the commotion. He rushed out and kicked me to the ground.

He shouted at me, “Rebecca, you're looking for death!”

He used all his strength in this kick. I couldn’t believe my husband was hurting me so much that I curled up and couldn't move.

I forced myself to hold back the surging blood that was churning. I looked at them fiercely.

I shouted, “You're the ones who deserve to die!”

As the words fell, I spat out a mouthful of blood uncontrollably. I was struggling to get up to hold the remaining ashes at this moment. Benedict was so annoyed that he lifted the cake and smashed it hard on the ground.

Eugene's ashes were instantly submerged in the mango cake all over the floor. My Eugene shouldn't have died and been treated like this. Looking at the few ashes left, my eyes glazed over and blood gushed out of my mouth one after another.

Benedict was stunned by the way I spit out blood. The throbbing pain in his heart made him hastily squat down to check on me. But in the next second, his cell phone suddenly received a message:

[Mr. Benedict, we accidentally discovered that Eugene Mortimer is not your biological son.]

Benedict was stunned for a split second. He slapped me across the face.

“Rebecca, how dare you? Isn't it just that I asked you to donate a kidney, but you cheated on me and asked me to raise a bastard?”

I was slapped to the point of dizziness. My nose was bleeding.

On the other hand, Adelaide held him back hypocritically. “Benedict, don't fight like this. Marriage is a blessing for a husband and wife.”

Benedict shook off Adelaide's hand. He threw more punches on me.

Adelaide shouted, “No wonder you hid that bastard! It turns out you are really shameful, Benedict.”

Benedict lost his mind and thrashed me at this moment. He made me so painfully unconscious that I instinctively defended myself.

I said softly, “Eugene is not a wild seed, Benedict.”

He replied firmly, “Bullshit!”

He lost control of his grip on my neck. “The DNA report is out, Rebecca. How dare you still argue like this?”

Only when my face turned purple, Adelaide pulled Benedict away. She protected me behind her. But she took the opportunity to attach herself to my ear.

She whispered, “You can't die, Rebecca, otherwise no one will appreciate the good show.”

Benedict finished cleaning the dirty blood from his hands. He threw the used wet towel on my face.

“Take your wild seed and get out of the Mortimer Family! If you dare to appear in front of me again, Rebecca, I'll beat you up once I see you!”

He coldly dropped these words. Benedict then turned around to leave with Adelaide in his arms.

On the other hand, I endured severe pain all over my body. It took me half a day to clean up a small amount of ashes. I packed up everything that belonged to me and my son.

I knew what should be thrown away, should be thrown away and what should be burned, it should be burned. The blazing flames were burning, just like my heart that wanted to take revenge.

My mother-in-law came at some point. She looked at me covered in blood stains, so distressed that she shed tears.

“Rebecca, it's my fault that my son was a bastard like this. I want to recognize you as my goddaughter, to make up for him and to make up for you.”

I shook my head and calmly refused. “He and I will fight to the death, Mom.”

The hatred in my eyes made my mother-in-law fall to her knees and apologize. Unfortunately, it didn't make my heart soft.

In my mind no matter how good she was to me, it was all for Benedict. Even if she knelt until the end of time, she couldn't get back the lives of my mother and my lovely son.

After I hired someone at a high price to investigate my mother’s car accident case back then, I took Eugene to church to pray together. I also personally knelt in front of Jesus and my heart asked for blessings and salvation for my son and me.

“My son, if you are given the chance to live again in the universe, make sure you find parents who love you more than I do.”

At the same time, in the Mortimer Family's old house, my mother-in-law held a grand funeral for Eugene. Unfortunately, the absence of Benedict caused a lot of discussion among the guests. The mother-in-law didn't give up and continued to call his son.

“Benedict, today is Eugene's funeral. You must come to see him off for the last time.”

Benedict impatiently interrupted, “Mom, can you stop fooling around with that bitch? It's just a wild seed, even if he really dies, it has nothing to do with me!”

Liliana was shocked. “Bastard! Eugene is your own son, Benedict. How can you say that?”

The mother-in-law was so angry that she staggered. Benedict listened to the mourning music and suppressed the uneasiness that welled up in his heart.

He continued to put out harsh words at this time. “That wild seed won't really be dead, right? Then I'll arrange for people to set off fireworks throughout the city to celebrate his good death! Otherwise, he will be the disgrace of my life!”

My mother-in-law covered her chest and tried with all her might to say something else. Unfortunately, she only spat out a few mouthfuls of blood and finally collapsed unconscious. The funeral was interrupted because my mother-in-law fainted.

When Benedict was taking Adelaide around to unlock new postures everywhere, he didn't know that his mother had been declared dead by the doctor. Until his elder sister, Xaviera Mortimer interrupted the good thing with a whip.

Benedict asked loudly,“ Xaviera, what are you mad about?”

Xaviera ignored his nakedness and answered with a whip, “Benedict, you are so filial! For the sake of this vicious woman, first, you killed your own son and now you're pissed off at our mom!”

Xaviera's eyes were red. The whip in her hand lashed the two people who were running around wildly.

Benedict thought he was hallucinating from the pain at this time. He then sucked in his breath backwards to ask, “What did you say, Xaviera?”
