Chapter 7
The ground was so cold. She felt dazed for a moment and her stomach felt even emptier. Her belly, which had been full like a swollen ball, suddenly deflated.
Then, where was her child?
Through the glass window, she could hear a loud conversation outside. Casey forced herself to regain her sanity and tiptoed to the side.
In a private hospital, a doctor in a white coat cradled a tiny baby in her arms, his voice trembling with disbelief.
"Mr. Olson, why are you doing this?" the doctor pleaded. "Even if you despise your wife and refuse to acknowledge your own bloodline, the baby is innocent!
"This little girl, born prematurely at barely four pounds, fought so fiercely to survive. She endured a landslide and still kept breathing. With proper care, she could live.”
"How could you..." His voice cracked as he stared at him in horror. "How could you smother her to death with a pillow?!"
With a click, tears fell rapidly, hitting the ground one by one.
Casey's heart broke into pieces.
It was gone after all.
Ethan killed her and her child with her own hands.
The man in front of her still looked cold and indifferent. He turned away and even thought it was dirty to take a look at the package in the doctor's arms.
“She should die early and be reborn sooner. She doesn't deserve to be born into this world.
“I promised Lily that I would only take care of her in this life and no one can take away my love for her.
“Besides, how could I let a woman of low status give birth to my child? Clean up this before Casey wakes up, understand?”
The doctor in a white coat looked at the bruised baby in his arms with pity and nodded.
“Mr. Olson, don't worry, I will keep this to myself and no one else will know about it,” he promised.
Ethan nodded perfunctorily and answered a phone call with obvious nervousness on his face.
“Lily was seriously frightened by that woman this time. I have to go and accompany her immediately.
“The baby girl should rush into the sewer immediately. I'll leave Casey to you. You know what to say.”
In the ward, Casey felt chilled to the bone, lying on the bed like a rusty machine, lifeless.
Lily boldly seduced Ethan and the two of them were so passionate that they could not help but start burning with passion on the bed next to her.
With tears shimmering in her eyes, Lily coaxed Ethan softly, "You two should get a divorce.
"I regret it. I don't want her carrying your child and I refuse to let you sleep with her just to produce an heir!"
Ethan's body swayed slightly at her words. His gaze darkened, sharp and unwavering as he looked straight at her.
"Impossible," he stated coldly. "Casey has been by my side for three or four years. She is a dutiful wife and a worthy Mrs. Olson.
"Anything else, I can agree to. But divorce? Never."
A flash of hatred emerged in Lily's eyes. She took out a bottle of pills from her arms and spoke in a pretentious tone, “In that case, feed this to her.
“If she eats one, she will be infertile for the rest of her life, just like me, a hen that only eats but cannot lay eggs.”
However, Ethan was speechless for a moment.
“Why? Are you reluctant to give it up?” Lily asked in agony.
Ethan firmly held Lily's small hand and kissed it gently.
“Of course not. You are the most important person in my heart. No one can compare to you.
“Otherwise, I have killed my own flesh and blood with Casey just for you before, so absolutely, I can do this thing.”
At the moment when the pill was about to enter her mouth, Casey opened her eyes, they were empty and clear.
This moment suddenly frightened the two of them. Lily took a step back and looked at her with an uncertain look.
Chapter 8
The woman's eyelashes trembled slightly and she pretended to be someone who had just woken up, looking at her belly with shock on her face.
“I... what's wrong with me?”
Ethan immediately looked worried and patted her back slowly with both hands, his tone sad as he answered, “I… the doctor could not save our child, I’m sorry.
“The doctor said you fell from such a height and it’s a miracle you survived. The baby, however… was lost on the spot."
Ethan’s voice was calm, almost reassuring. He reached for her hand, his grip firm yet devoid of warmth.
“Casey, don’t worry. The doctor said that if you take good care of yourself, we can always have another child in the future.”
Lily stopped looking at her and came up to her with a bright smile on her face as she reassured her more, “Yes, auntie, you must not be so careless in the future.
“If it were not for your negligence, the child might have been born healthy a long time ago. It's such a pity."
Tears rolled down her eyes, Casey nodded gently, then laid back sadly, with her back to Ethan.
“You guys go out, I want to be alone,” she ordered coldly.
Lily's face changed and she winked at Ethan. The man stepped forward and lifted her upper body.
“Casey, this is a pill specially prepared by the doctor for you. It will help you recover. Eat it quickly and take care of yourself so we can have more children.
“Tomorrow is our fourth wedding anniversary. I will hold a grand banquet for you and give you the most expensive gift. You will still be the most glorious young lady of the Olson Family in Nether!”
The hatred and anger suppressed in her heart grew little by little. Casey clenched her fists tightly and spoke lightly, “What a coincidence! I also have a gift for you tomorrow.”
Lily stared at it eagerly as she asked, “Auntie, what gift is it? We'll wait and see.”
Casey smiled and in front of her, she took the pill from Ethan's palm, put it in her mouth and took a sip of water.
After the two left, there was gradually no more noise outside. Casey immediately rushed into the toilet, scratched her throat and vomited all the pills. The acid mixed with blood made a mess.
The woman's face was calm, but there were sharp cold thorns flashing in her eyes.
On the second day, a banquet was held. The guests who attended were all important figures in Nether and even many media reporters came.
When the process reached its climax, no one noticed anything wrong until someone ran in in a panic and reported, “Mr. Olson, your wife is missing!
“The only thing we found in the ward was a signed divorce agreement and some clothes for the child that your wife had sewn herself.
“Someone fished out a headless female corpse in the moat on the way to the airport. It's probably her.”
Ethan stood up suddenly. These reports were like thunder and the blood in his body froze.
“What did you say?!"
“Mr. Olson, we did find the flight information in your wife's phone and got the taxi driver's confession.”
Ethan could no longer hold on and fell backwards with bloodshot eyes.
“How... how is it possible?!"
At this moment, Lily screamed, her eyes widened in horror and she pointed at the fonts that began to jump out of thin air on the big screen in the banquet hall.
“Three… Two… One!”
