Chapter 3
I frowned and felt that my impulsive action of showing the tattoo on my arm just now was a bit reckless.
But now that Damian wanted to help me carry things, I might as well let him do it.
When I looked up, I noticed that everyone on the coach was looking at us.
At that moment, I really wanted to flee away at once.
As I turned to look at Damian, I saw that he was holding his head high, and his face was filled with pride.
When I looked back at those people, I found that everyone had the same expression on their faces.
Obviously, they thought of us as a couple.
Damian greeted them briefly, "Hello everyone, I am Damian Banks, Ella's..."
I glared at him, hoping that he wouldn't say anything ridiculous. I didn't wanna be doomed!
The next second, I heard his teasing voice, saying, "One of Ella's boyfriends."
Everyone was in an uproar.
I snatched the needle holder from his hands and urged him to leave.
Damian blinked and whispered in my ear, "Ella, we will meet again."
I blushed for no reason and doubted myself. Could it be that I hadn't been in contact with men for too long that I felt shy when facing Damian?
After Damian left, my closest colleague, Holly Tomlinson, pulled me onto the coach.
The others were still cheering, even more enthusiastically than before.
"Ella, I thought you were gonna be single forever. Well done! You've found a cutie pie."
As soon as I heard this, I got goosebumps.
Single forever? It hadn't even been half a year since we broke up.
I bit the bullet and explained, "He's just my ex-boyfriend."
Everyone fell silent, and Holly asked me next to my ear, "Isn't an ex-boyfriend also a boyfriend? He looks good. Have you ever thought about getting back together with him?"
I almost bit my tongue. I was the one who broke up with him. Why would I get back together with him?
"Nope. Unless my name isn't Ella."
Chapter 4
After returning to the hospital, I thought the encounter with my ex-boyfriend was over.
Unexpectedly, one day a week later, Damian suddenly appeared at the door of the department where I was interning.
He was holding a bouquet of flowers. It was the jasmine that I used to tell him that I liked the most.
Like him, I always spoke harshly. When we were together, we often made sarcastic remarks to each other. Now that we had broken up, I hadn't changed this habit.
I walked up to him, glanced at him, and casually said, "Are you here to see a patient?"
Hearing that, Damian was not angry but instead looked at me with a smile.
He stuffed the flowers into my arms, revealing the canine tooth that pricked me when we kissed. "It's for you."
My expression changed slightly, and I asked him, "Don't you think it's a bit late?"
He thought about it seriously and came to a conclusion, saying, "I realized my mistake and can be forgiven."
If it were in the past, and Damian spoke to me like this, I would definitely be a fool in love again. I'd kiss him and hug him while saying I wasn't mad at all.
But now, I was a cold-blooded intern doctor. "Don't pretend to be affectionate. I'm not buying it."
Damian looked at me in a daze as if he couldn't believe that I'd say so.
One of my colleagues who was passing by really wanted to see us get back together. Before I had a chance to stop him, he had already whispered a few words to Damian.
When Damian approached me, I could only hear our heartbeats.
They were rapid and flustered.
He said, "Emilia, I really know I was wrong."
Chapter 5
I was so surprised that my colleague would tell Damian what I said that day.
I said that to Holly.
It must have been Holly, the big mouth, who told others.
Damian thought I didn't hear him, so he was gonna repeat it. He said, "Emilia..."
I immediately reacted and used one hand to cover his mouth. "My name is Ella!"
Damian nodded, removing my hand. "Dear Ella, shall we eat together?"
Actually, why not?
I hesitated for a few seconds and then nodded.
What was the big deal?
After putting the flowers in the office, I changed out of my white coat and took the elevator with Damian, holding my bag.
I never thought that we would bump into Ruby Russell here.
Ruby was the reason why I broke up with Damian.
She was a beautiful girl from the Dance Academy.
More than five months ago, Ruby and Damian's team came to the city where I was to participate in a competition.
By coincidence, Ruby and Damian were assigned to two rooms on the same floor of the hotel and had dinner together.
What was even more coincidental was that the restaurant was right at the entrance of my school.
My roommate had seen Damian's photo before. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known that he ate with another girl alone.
Remembering all this, I subconsciously clenched my right hand while standing in the corner of the elevator. I was afraid of hearing Damian greet Ruby.
It would make me feel like a loser.
Fortunately, when the elevator stopped on the third floor, Ruby walked out.
I leaned against the side, feeling relieved.
Damian probably noticed my uneasiness and took the initiative to ask me, "Are you OK?"
I glanced at him. Now that we bumped into Ruby, I had to act tough no matter what. "I'm perfectly fine."
Damian didn't say anything else. When the elevator reached the first floor, I followed him out.
At first, I had a slight hope in my heart, thinking that perhaps Damian and I could get back together. Yet after seeing Ruby, I no longer wanted it.
I didn't think we'd get back together again after what had happened.
I lost all interest and casually found a restaurant to go in.
Damian grabbed me from behind. I lost balance and fell into his arms.
He explained seriously, "Nothing happened between me and Ruby."
I swore that I had heard him say so at least ten times.
When we were together, I lacked a sense of security and would always overthink. Like everyone else, I thought of Damian as one of those scumbag sports students.
He always frowned and said I was being too sensitive.
That day, I bumped into Ruby and Damian eating together and going back to the hotel together. I didn't rush up to question him, and the next day when he came to find me, I didn't argue with him either.
Instead, I clicked on my phone album.
I showed him a few photos I took last night.
