Chapter 4
I walked out the door with the suitcase in my hand aimlessly.
The thunder was loud, and the rain in June came down always so easily.
I didn't bring an umbrella.
Soon, my whole body was drenched.
I turned back and took one last look.
But I was instantly frozen in place.
In front of the French window on the second floor, Austin was standing there, looking down at me.
In his eyes, I seemed to see a trace of worry and pity.
But it quickly disappeared as if it was just my imagination.
"Toss away everything related to her!"
With a stern shout, a small object was thrown out fiercely.
Falling in the rain, it quickly got stained with mud and became dirty.
I recognized it. It was the phone case I spent two weeks making for Austin.
He was always busy with work and didn't like the phone cases on the market. His hands were thick with calluses from his phone.
So, I spent two weeks making a beautiful and comfortable phone case out of water gel as a birthday gift for him.
At that time, he cherished it so much, saying, "Gloria made it for me. I'll use it for a lifetime."
But now, he threw it out like it was garbage.
I took a few steps forward and picked up the dirty phone case.
I wiped it clean with my clothes and held it tightly in my hand.
It was just like me, without any value, and had become garbage in other people's eyes.
But it was my hard work.
Chapter 5
I didn't have any money on me and had nowhere to go.
I walked a long way and took shelter under an eave.
But the rain was too heavy and soon poured in. I held myself tightly, shivering all over.
My forehead was burning.
I even started to have hallucinations.
I remembered when I was 12, my parents had an accident, and all the relatives came to fight for the family property.
Back then, Austin and I were just kids and had no one to rely on, so they exposed their true ugly faces.
They drove us out of the villa and left us homeless.
It was also a heavy rain that day.
Austin tightly hugged me and shielded me from the rain.
He was shivering from the cold, but he still took off his coat and put it on my head.
"Gloria, don't be afraid. I will get what belongs to us back!"
That year, Austin was only 15 years old.
But in less than half a month, he fought back.
My parents' company and properties were ours again.
Austin never told me how much he had suffered. On the day we returned home, he bought me a big cake.
He held my hand tightly and said.
"As long as I'm here, no one can bully you!"
But now...
He found his real sister.
He didn't want me anymore.
I didn't know when I fell asleep under the eaves. When I woke up, the rain around me was stained with blood.
I had a lot of nosebleeds again.
The recent ones were more severe than before. I smiled bitterly, looking at the puddle of blood.
I couldn't help but wonder what expression Austin would have if he knew I was going to die soon.
Would he be surprised?
The rain was about to stop. I tried to support my body to stand up but found that I had no strength left.
My forehead was burning hot. Before I could stand up, everything went black.
Chapter 6
When I woke up, I found myself indoors, lying on a hard wooden bed.
"You're awake."
The sudden voice startled me, and the terrifying memory of that night in the hotel came back to me immediately.
I looked palely at Andy sitting beside me.
I retreated in fear as if he were the devil.
"You? What do you want?"
If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have been kicked out of the house by Austin.
That day, I found out that I was sick and went to the bar for a few drinks.
Then I met Andy.
I didn't seduce him, but I woke up in a hotel room with him.
I looked around, grabbed everything I could, and threw it at him fiercely.
Andy dodged in embarrassment and smiled bitterly, "Calm down. I won't do anything to you."
After I calmed down, he stood far away from me with a guilty look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I know it's not your fault. It's ours.
"Don't be afraid. I'm not interested in you. It's just that Audrey has always hated you and wants me to help drive you away from Austin..."
I was stunned instantly.
It turned out that the whole scene was designed by Audrey.
I stared at Andy fiercely. "I helped you, and this is how you repay me?"
When Andy was stranded in this city, he almost starved to death.
I gave him 1,000 dollars. That was how he got through the crisis and survived.
Only the two of us knew about this.
Later, Audrey brought him to see Austin and me and introduced him as her friend. I pretended to meet him for the first time.
But I didn't expect people's hearts to be unpredictable.
I looked wary as Andy handed me a bowl of medicine soup to treat cold.
"You have a slight fever. Drink this."
I didn't move.
I didn't dare to drink what he handed me. Not anymore.
After drinking it once, I was kicked out of the house. If I drink it again, I might die.
I instinctively touched my pocket and found it empty.
Andy's eyes flashed with guilt. My diagnosis report had already been soaked by the rain, and now it lay wrinkled and quietly in his palm.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know you were sick. I just felt guilty about helping Audrey deal with you like this..."
So, when he saw me on the street, he brought me back.
Expressionless, I snatched the diagnosis report from his hand.
Then I tore it into pieces.
Andy looked at me in silence. Then he said, "Does Austin know?"
