Chapter 4

When I woke up the next day, I heard people talking in the living room.

Their voices were even louder than the birds on the window outside.

"I heard that Olivia's arm was injured, so I came here to visit her.

"It's not heavy. Kayne, you don't need to help me carry it. I can do it myself."

I pushed the door open and saw Freya acting coquettishly with Kayne.

"I sweated a lot while walking here, and the band-aid on my forehead is soaked with sweat. Kayne, can you help me change it?"

Kayne patiently went to find a band-aid, then carefully bent over to help her put it on.

The two of them were very close.

After changing the band-aid, they smiled at each other, and Freya finally saw me.

"Olivia, are you up? I was planning to wake you up.

"I heard that your arm was injured. It must be inconvenient for you to cook, right? I bought a lot of food and came here to make delicious food for you."

Kayne said, "Can you cook? Don't hurt yourself."

He took the initiative to walk towards the kitchen. "I'll help you."

Freya happily followed him into the kitchen. "I'm very good at cooking..."

They kept talking, and I didn't even have time to speak.

In the past, I told Kayne that I wanted to eat the food he cooked because I heard from his friends that he was skilled at cooking.

I bought the ingredients, but when they went rot, he just glanced at them and said, "Don't let me cook. I hate cooking and can't stand the smell of cooking."

Therefore, he just didn’t want to cook for me.

They made great noise in the kitchen, and I couldn't concentrate on my work.

Freya came over and called me to eat.

There were several dishes on the table.

Freya picked up fried fish for me. "Olivia, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were also injured at that time. Please don't be angry with me or Kayne. He was worried about me."

She looked at Kayne with grievance and continued, "I bought the fried fish specially for you. Have a taste of it."

I didn't eat it. "Thank you, but I don't like it."

Kayne was unhappy. "Freya got up early to go to the market and then came to cook for you, but why did you not even thank her?"

He asked me, "Olivia, what's wrong with you?"

Freya said, "Kayne, I'm fine." Her eyes turned. "I know Olivia has always misunderstood me, and I was indeed at fault for the car accident that day. Oliva, I'm sorry..."

She kept on talking with tears.

Kayne looked at her distressedly and wiped her tears. "Stop talking. It's not your fault. You don't need to apologize."

When the car accident happened, Kayne only cared about Freya.

I was screaming desperately, but the ambulance was stuck in the road and couldn't get there in time. If it weren't for the kind-hearted person who stopped his car to help me, I would have bled to death.

I was lucky to survive.

"It's indeed not your fault. I should be responsible for my own life.

"Even if I died in the car accident, I deserved it."

It was my fault because I thought Kayne was someone I could rely on for the rest of my life.

"You guys eat. I'm leaving."

I packed my things and went out to find a quiet place to read the documents.

Chapter 5

Just after dinner in the evening, I saw Freya’s Facebook.

[He cooks for me and plays the guitar for me. It's a show just for me.]

The picture showed Kayne teaching Freya to play the guitar.

Kayne was a well-known band guitarist. Since I met him, he had gradually become successful step by step.

His guitars were more important than his life, and he never let me touch them.

Once, he was on a business trip for a long time, and the guitars at home were a little dusty.

I just wanted to help him wipe the dust off.

But when he came back and found out, he got very angry.

He even warned me, "Olivia, don't enter my guitar room again!"

After that, I never stepped into it again.

But now, Freya held his beloved guitar in her arms, treating it as her toy.

Putting down my phone, I continued reading the documents.

I didn't leave until the study room closed.

When I left, I saw several messages from Kayne.

[Olivia, where are you?]

[It's about to rain outside. How about I pick you up?]

[I'm going out now.]

The last message was sent half an hour ago. I didn’t know if he had gone out.

I replied: [No need. I can take a taxi myself.]

He called me, "Are you still angry? Why didn't you reply to my messages?"

Without waiting for my answer, he asked, "Where are you now?"

I said, "I'm almost home. You don't need to pick me up."

Kayne hung up the phone.

When I got home, I saw him looking at me with a complicated expression.

Seeing that I was holding something in one hand, he came over to help me. "Olivia, if you are still angry about Freya's matter, I can explain. She is just my friend. If you don't believe me, you can ask my friends. As for the car accident, I didn't know that you were injured. You didn't tell me."

What? Was it my fault?

I walked in. "You don't have to explain to me. I don't care about your relationship with Freya.

"As for the car accident, if you treat me as your girlfriend, you should at least be concerned about me."

Chapter 6

However, he abandoned me immediately and even called me to blame me later.

Kayne probably wanted to end the deadlock between us today.

He said again patiently, "I know I should call you and ask about your situation. It's my fault."

He put the things down and caught up with me.

"Olivia, to make up for it, I'll take you to my show, okay?

"Your arm is injured and you can't go to work. This time, I will only take you with me."

Kayne's show was taboo for me.

When I first met him, he wasn't very famous.

I accompanied him all the way.

However, he never intended to make our relationship public.

Even when I went to his concert, he was unwilling to tell his band friends and staff that I was his girlfriend.

I was just a girlfriend whom he didn't want to admit. Why should I go to his show?

So I said, “No, I’m busy.”

"What are you busy for?" Kayne asked.

I didn't want to bring up the past, but he thought he had given the greatest forgiveness to me.

"You never took the initiative to say hello to my friends every time you met them, and you didn't dress to match theirs. How could I introduce you?"

I pushed the bathroom door open. "So I said I'm not going. I don't want to know them."

I didn't fit in with them. I did research and had always liked quietness.

If it weren't for Kayne, I wouldn't have dressed up in the way I didn't like and gone to his show.

Hearing my words, Kayne finally got angry.

He slammed the bathroom door shut. "I gave you a chance but you didn't want it. Olivia, You're so boring!"

I washed my face and brushed my teeth, ignoring him.

I had to go to bed early tonight because I would go to the lab early tomorrow morning.

I hadn't done research for a long time, so I was a little nervous.

I kept thinking about the process in the materials in my mind.

Thinking about the experimental data all night, I had no time to think about Kayne.

He just came back when I pushed the door open early in the morning.

He looked a little strange. "You're going out even though your arm is injured?"

I nodded. "I have something to do."

He followed me. "I'll take you there."

He looked like he hadn't slept all night, maybe he didn't come back all night yesterday.

"No need. Go back to sleep," I said.

Kayne insisted on following me. Grabbing my hand, he said, "I didn't go home all night or sleep. You don't care now, do you?"
