You Threw Away Our Child for Your Mistress, Now Meet My Billionaire Family Summary
Chapter 1 of You Threw Away Our Child for Your Mistress, Now Meet My Billionaire Family
"She’s not my blood, Evelyn! Chloe is carrying my true heir, while this little stray is just a parasite!"
My husband Mark shoved our shivering five-year-old adopted daughter onto the cold marble, grinding his heel into her favorite teddy bear. His pregnant mistress, Chloe, sobbed softly in his arms, falsely claiming Lily broke her antique bracelet. Without giving my terrified child a single second to speak, Mark ordered the guards to throw Lily outside into the freezing storm, locking the iron gates behind her.
Five years ago, this same man knelt before God and swore Lily would always be his princess. Today, he tossed her out like garbage to please his mistress. Mark sneered that an orphan like me would starve on the streets without his money. He didn't know that my real family was the multi-trillion-dollar Sterling Empire—and the man arriving to take us home wasn't begging for an heir; he was ready to burn Mark’s world to the ground.

"Hold still for just a second, sweetie," I murmured, smoothing down a stray lock of hair before fastening the pink satin bow into Lily’s soft curls.
Five-year-old Lily nodded obediently, clutching her worn-out brown teddy bear tightly against her chest. The plush toy was missing one button eye and shedding around the seams, but to Lily, it was the most precious thing in the world. She looked up at me with wide, hesitant eyes.
"Mommy..." she whispered, her small voice almost drowned out by the clinking crystal and chatter of the Miller family’s private banquet. "Do you think Daddy will hold me when he cuts the cake tonight?"
A sharp ache pierced my chest. I forced a warm smile and gently cupped her cheek. "Daddy is very busy hosting tonight, my love. But Mommy will hold you tight the entire time, okay?"
"Okay," Lily whispered, leaning her little head against my knee.
A few yards away on the plush white leather sofa, Chloe sat surrounded by adoring guests like a queen on her throne. She wore a fitted silk gown that accentuated the slight swell of her belly, her manicured fingers resting proudly over it.
My mother-in-law, Brenda, stood beside her, beaming with unmasked pride as she addressed a circle of high-society wives.
"The Miller family only acknowledges pure, noble blood," Brenda declared, her voice carrying easily across the salon. "Chloe is carrying our true heir. A genuine golden grandson. Not some nameless charity case brought in off the streets to play house."
Several women glanced in my direction with thinly veiled pity, while others chuckled in agreement. I tightened my grip on the hem of my dress, refusing to give Brenda the satisfaction of seeing me break.
"Mommy, I'm thirsty," Lily said softly, pointing toward the refreshment table across the gallery aisle.
"Go grab a small glass of apple juice, baby," I said. "Be very careful and walk along the edge."
Lily nodded, holding her bear with one arm while carefully carrying a plastic cup of juice. She stayed close to the wall, trying her best not to get in anyone's way.
Then Chloe stood up.
She glided across the polished marble, heading directly into Lily's path. Lily stopped instantly, flattening herself against a decorative pillar to give her plenty of room.
Chloe didn't steer around her. Instead, as she drew level with Lily, Chloe hooked her own wrist against the corner of the pillar, violently snapping the silk cord of her South Sea pearl bracelet. A hundred thousand dollars' worth of rare, lustrous pearls broke apart, bouncing and rolling across the floor in every direction.
In the same breath, Chloe let out a piercing shriek and threw herself backward onto the carpet.
"My baby!" Chloe screamed, clutching her stomach with both hands and writhing on the floor. "My baby! She pushed me! God, she shoved me right in the stomach!"
The entire banquet hall fell dead silent.
Lily froze, her tiny face completely drained of color as the cup slipped from her trembling fingers. "I... I didn't touch her! Mommy, I didn't touch her!"
Before I could cross the floor, Brenda charged forward like a predator.
"You vile little monster!" Brenda shrieked.
With a vicious swing of her arm, Brenda struck Lily across the face.
The force of the blow lifted the five-year-old off her feet. Lily crashed backward into a glass display stand, knocking over a tray of crystal dessert bowls. The heavy glass shattered on impact, and Lily landed hard on the jagged shards, her small hands catching the broken edges as she tried to break her fall.
A horrifying, ragged scream tore from Lily's throat. Blood instantly welled from deep gashes across her tiny palms, soaking into the white carpet.
"Lily!"
I lunged forward and shoved Brenda back with all the fury inside me. The older woman stumbled, gasping in shock, but I didn't care. I dropped to my knees in the shattered glass, pulling Lily into my lap. Her little body convulsed with terrified sobs, her bleeding hands shaking as she tried not to touch me with the red stains.
"Call security!" I shouted, my voice shaking with rage as I glared at the surrounding crowd. "Pull the hallway cameras right now! Lily was standing still against the pillar! She never laid a hand on her!"
The crowd parted, and my husband, Mark, stepped through.
His tailored suit was immaculate, his expression carved from stone. He didn't spare a single glance at his bleeding, hysterical daughter on the floor. His eyes went straight to Chloe, who was weeping softly into a linen napkin while two women helped her onto a chair.
"Mark..." Chloe whimpered, looking up at him with tear-stained eyes. "She wants to kill my baby... she's jealous of her brother..."
Mark’s jaw hardened. He walked toward us, his polished oxford shoes crunching over the broken glass.
Lily saw him and reached out one bloody, trembling hand, her voice choked with tears. "Daddy... it hurts... Daddy, please..."
Mark didn't reach for her. Instead, his gaze dropped to the scruffy brown teddy bear lying in a pool of spilt juice.
With a cold sneer, Mark brought his heel down on the toy's face.
He ground his shoe into the fabric, ripping the seams apart and crushing the cotton stuffing into the filth.
Lily let out a heartbroken wail, clutching at my shirt.
"Check the cameras?" Mark sneered, looking down at me with pure disgust. "For what? She’s a stray we dragged out of an orphanage, Evelyn. Rotten blood from day one. You could sell every bone in her worthless little body and it wouldn't cover the cost of a single strand of Chloe's hair."
The cruelty in his words struck me harder than any physical blow. The man I had loved for seven years was completely unrecognizable.
Outside, lightning tore across the dark sky, followed by a violent crash of thunder. Heavy rain began to lash against the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Chloe let out another fragile sob, leaning her head against Mark’s chest. "Mark... I'm terrified. What if she attacks me again while we're sleeping? I can't breathe knowing she's in this house."
"She won't be," Mark said calmly. He signaled the two burly security guards standing near the entrance. "Take the brat outside. Lock the main estate gates. Let her stand out in the storm until she learns her place."
"Mark, no!" I screamed, lunging up to shield Lily with my entire body. "She's five years old! Her hands are sliced open! There's a thunderstorm outside!"
"Grab them," Mark commanded without blinking.
Two guards seized my arms, dragging me back against the marble wall while a third ripped the screaming child from the floor. Lily fought with everything she had, crying out for me as blood smeared across the guard's black jacket.
They dragged her through the foyer, opened the heavy entrance doors, and shoved her out into the torrential rain. The heavy wrought-iron gates slammed shut, and the electronic lock engaged with a final, heavy click.
Through the glass doors, lightning illuminated Lily's tiny, soaked figure. She pressed her bleeding, mangled hands against the freezing iron bars, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Daddy! Daddy, please open the door!" her muffled screams carried over the thunder. "It's cold! Mommy! Mommy, help me!"
Inside the warm, brightly lit hall, Mark turned his back on the storm. He wrapped an arm around Chloe's waist, picked up a crystal flute of champagne, and raised a silver knife toward the massive tiered cake. The surrounding guests clapped politely, laughing along with Brenda's celebratory toast.
I stood frozen against the wall, watching my little girl shiver and bleed in the dark rain.
Something inside me snapped. Every ounce of warmth, every lingering shred of love, and every memory of devotion died right there.
I didn't scream. I didn't beg.
I stepped toward the nearest silver service cart, gripped an unopened magnum of vintage red wine by the neck, and swung it with all the strength in my body.
The heavy bottle smashed brutally through the towering crystal welcome screen at the center of the hall, exploding in a deafening shower of red liquid and flying glass.
