Chapter 5

I arrived at the hospital with a pale face, looking extremely sad. I staggeringly held the housekeeper Mary's hand and said, "I received a call saying that Kevin had a car accident. Is he okay?"

The police took out an accident report and said, "Your lover was involved in a car accident. According to the surveillance footage, he bent down to pick up his phone, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the mountain. The vehicle then exploded and he was severely burned."

Looking at Kevin, whose whole body was burned like a piece of charcoal, I picked up a tissue soaked with medicated oil and kept wiping my tears, crying until I almost fainted.

Mary sighed and said, "Mrs. Collins, don't be too sad. I know you and Mr. Collins have always had a good relationship. Mr. Collins certainly doesn't want to see you so sad. Besides, you have to make the decision on how to treat Mr. Collins."

Of course I was sad. In my previous life, Kevin fell into the river and was dead when he was fished out. How come he still had a breath left this time?

But it was useless even if he was alive.

The attending doctor came over with the test results and treatment suggestions, and explained the current situation to me professionally, "The patient is still alive, but treating burns is very painful. You should be prepared. Debridement treatment must be performed immediately, otherwise it will soon..."

I raised my head and interrupted the doctor, "No, I can't let Kevin suffer. Kevin loves dignity the most! I want to give up treatment and let him leave with dignity."

I endured the nausea, smelled the burnt meat, and looked at Kevin with deep affection. I said, "Living like this is also suffering. I know Kevin best. He would rather die than live like this."

So at my strong request, all treatments were suspended, and Kevin's heart stopped beating in less than ten minutes.

Chapter 6

The day after Kevin's death, I announced the news of his death and held a farewell ceremony at my home.

I tried hard to make myself look haggard. After all, it was very difficult to suppress such joy. Kevin died suddenly, but more importantly, he was an orphan, so all the inheritance belonged to me.

As I was mechanically thanking the arrival of the guests, Mary hurried over and whispered something in my ear. I became excited because Stella came.

Stella appeared at the funeral with Tommy.

Their arrival and the fact that Tommy and Kevin looked alike, everyone changed from being sad to curious.

Stella just pulled Tommy and said, "Tommy, kowtow to your father."

When she said this, everyone started to murmur.

A stranger appeared out of nowhere and said, "Mrs. Collins, if it can be confirmed that Tommy is Mr. Collins' child, then the estate may need to be redistributed. Illegitimate children also have the right of inheritance."

Mary was shaking with anger, and she stood in front of me to protect me, saying, "Do you have evidence? Can't I say that you were picked up on the street when you were a kid?"

Stella walked up to me and knelt down with a thud, saying, "Susy, I know I'm sorry for you. In fact, Tommy's father is Kevin. Kevin and I have been childhood sweethearts and were about to get married, but you intervened. I couldn't bear to hurt you, so I gave in. But after you got married, I found out that I was pregnant.

"I wanted to keep this secret forever, but the child is innocent!"

Everyone was waiting for my reaction. I raised my hand without thinking and slapped Stella in the face, saying, "You can say whatever you want, but you can't slander Kevin."

Chapter 7

Mary pushed Stella to the ground and didn't let her get up, saying, "Have you lost your conscience? Mr. Collins and Mrs. Collins are so kind to you, but you brought a child from nowhere to disrupt this ceremony. You just want a share of the inheritance."

Stella's tears kept falling, and she cried pitifully and said, "Susy, I won't hide if you hit me. I know I am sorry for you, but the child is innocent.

"In fact, you caught me and Kevin last time. Kevin had already confessed that he wanted to divorce you and said he was willing to divorce with nothing. But you refused to divorce him just to make us suffer.

"We wanted to explain these to you slowly so that you can break up peacefully, but I didn't expect Kevin to pass away so suddenly."

I gave Mary a look, and she immediately covered Stella's mouth. I said painfully, "Stella, you are not sorry for me, you are sorry for Kevin. Your son does look a bit like Kevin, but I know it's just a coincidence.

"You may not know that I haven't had children for so many years because Kevin is infertile. But for not embarrassing Kevin, I could only say that I didn't want children."

Stella broke free from Mary's hand and pointed at the coffin, saying, "You have to prove it. I asked for a paternity test, but I did it only to prove the child's identity and to ensure that Kevin would have a successor. I never thought of sharing your property, but you always assume the worst of others!

"Susy, do you dare to do it? If you don't dare, it means you feel guilty. Then, Tommy is Kevin's child!"
