Chapter 1 of Alpha Prince’s Rebellious Girlfriend Wants To Quit

Back when Caden was still training to be Alpha, I believed in him. I believed in us. He swore we'd lead the pack together, side by side as mates. But as he grew stronger, his dreams outgrew me, leaving me behind like I was nothing.

The pack adored him. They cheered for him, while I stood in the background, invisible. And then came Elena—his childhood friend. Always there, always hovering close to him.

Caden wasn’t the same with me anymore. His promises turned cold, and his touch, once tender, became rough. He used me, pushed me around, like I was just a tool. He’d pull me aside after meetings, gripping my arm too tight, whispering harsh words in my ear…

“Know your place, Seraphine."

Little did he know that I was slowly slipping away from his life, rebelling against everything we built. I wanted to quit, to leave him for good…

---

Tonight is a celebration for the pack. Yet, from what I see, I’m not enjoying it.

I watched them in front of everyone—Caden holding Elena, kissing her like I didn’t even exist. His hands all over her, her laugh echoing through. My chest tightened, rage bubbling under my skin as the pack looked on, some amused, some pitying me.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. Enough. “Why don’t they just rip each other’s clothes off already?” I said, loud enough for everyone to hear. My voice cut through the air like a whip, all eyes snapping to them. Caden’s smirk faltered, but I didn’t care. Let them see. Let them see what he really was.

Caden’s head snapped toward me, his sharp eyes darkening in the moonlight, “Seraphine, don’t be ridiculous.” His voice was cold, a growl lurking beneath, “We’re just having fun. You know this is just a dance, right? Why are you making a fuss about this?”

Laughter rippled through the crowd. My wolf stirred within me, sensing the challenge in his tone, but I held it back, “A fuss?” I said, pouring more champagne, my hands steady despite the anger boiling inside me, "Oh, of course! Just a dance. And a fire’s just a little warm, right?"

Elena smirked, stepping closer to Caden, her fingers brushing his arm, “We’ve danced like this many times before, Seraphine. If Caden and I wanted to be together, it would have happened long ago.”

My wolf rumbled beneath my skin, the urge to shift and fight growing stronger. But I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me lose control. I looked straight at Caden, whose face showed indifference, though his body language betrayed him. The bond between us felt strained, as if our mate connection was beginning to fade under the weight of his lies.

“Exactly,” Caden added, irritation lacing his words. “You’re just causing trouble, Seraphine. I regret even bringing you here.”

I exhaled slowly, suppressing the sharp pain that flared in my chest. "Enjoy yourselves then, all of you." My voice was calm, steady, even as I felt my world crumbling beneath me. “I won’t be an eyesore anymore.”

Without another word, I turned and left the clearing. Behind me, I could hear Caden’s dismissive growl. “Don’t worry about her. She’s just being dramatic.”

The party roared back to life, but their laughter felt distant. At that moment, the pull of the moon was almost overwhelming. The need to run, to shift into my wolf form and escape into the forest.

When I reached our home, Caden was already there, lounging on the sofa as if nothing had happened. Like he didn’t humiliate me at all in front of our pack. Smoke from his cigarette curled lazily in the air, mixing with the tension between us.

“You had to embarrass me, didn’t you?” he growled, barely looking up.

I dropped my bag and moved toward the door of our bedroom. “Was it me who embarrassed you, Caden?” I shot back, my tone sharp, but I didn’t want to argue further. The hurt was too fresh, the betrayal was too deep. Before he could respond, I slipped into the bathroom, needing to wash away the night.

Caden said nothing more, but the silence between us hung heavy, like a storm about to break. It clawed at my skin, suffocating me. As the water from the shower hit me, I couldn’t shake the thought that everything had fallen apart between us after Elena came into our lives. She ruined us, and Caden? He isn’t doing anything.

By the time I emerged out of the bathroom, Caden was pacing the room, his jaw clenched. “There’s nothing between Elena and me, Seraphine,” he said through gritted teeth. “If we wanted to be together, we would have. Don’t make a big deal out of this.”

I stared at him, my wolf simmering just beneath the surface. “I’ve said it before, Caden—I don’t care anymore. It’s you two who seem obsessed about this issue, not me.”

His face twisted with frustration, but I didn’t care. Not tonight. Not after everything. “I’m tired,” I added, my voice lacking the warmth I used to give him. “I worked all day, came to support you at the celebration without even eating, and now all I want is sleep. Can you give me that?”

I didn’t wait for an answer as I moved to the guest room, closing the door softly behind me. For the first time in years, I wasn’t the one chasing after him, seeking comfort or reconciliation. I could hear Caden muttering and pacing, but none of it mattered now. Not after this.

After a while, I heard a phone ringing outside. It must have been his.

I tried to sleep, to rest, but then I heard her voice again.

“Caden? Can you come here, please? It’s an emergency. I need you.”

I opened my eyes, my heart hammering in my chest, waiting—desperately hoping—for him to respond, to say something that would make it all better, to fix this mess between us once and for all. The silence stretched painfully, until finally, he spoke.

But what he said didn’t shock me.

“Hello, okay. I’m on my way there.”

I smiled bitterly, knowing he was going to meet Elena again before I could sleep.
