Chapter 4

“I made you your favorite breakfast dish; noodles with eggs!” I heard Jacob say to Lisa.

So I was right, he did make it for her.

“Whoa! You're such a good Alpha! I bet it tastes as wonderful as it looks!” She exclaimed with a small giggle.

Cooking wasn't one of the duties of an Alpha, so she must have been trying to cover up their affair because she knew that I was home and I could hear them. But then, why would she want to hide their affair from me?

She left her lingerie here on purpose and I was sure that she wanted to gloat to me that Jacob cared about her more than he cared about me. Maybe she was covering it up because of the neighbors. That sounded more like her.

“You know exactly how to make me smile, dear." He murmured as he laughed.

She giggled as she replied, “That was what I was thinking about you!"

They were acting like they were perfect match, but the truth was that they weren’t fated mates.

I scoffed and decided that I didn't want to hear anymore, so I stopped paying attention to their chatter and made my way to the fridge.

Two apples sat in the middle of the almost empty fridge, so I grabbed one and started eating it.

I would have cooked something up, but I just didn't have enough time for that since school was starting in fifteen minutes and I needed to be early if I wanted them to give me my transcript soon.

The College that she was enrolled in, Harry Ford College was one of the best Colleges in their werewolf territory. However, the one that she was transferring to, Standard West College was better than it.

It ranked higher in grades; it had more students that graduated with first class grades than Harry Ford College.

These Colleges were built to teach werewolves their way of life including their roles in their packs.

There were also high schools that did the same thing, but it included western education; the human’s education system.

I used to live in Amsterdam, the state where Standard West College was located as my parents were in the Black Wolves pack which dominated Amsterdam, but I moved to Michigan and joined the Red wolves pack after I met Jacob.

After finishing my apple, I made my way out of the house and locked it.

Twenty minutes later, I was walking into the ICT unit. They were the ones in charge of processing of results and transcripts.

The process took way too long that it was already noon by the time that I walked out of the school with my transcript in hand.

As I was waiting for a taxi, I noticed Jacob sitting in a restaurant that has a glass wall and Lisa was sitting across from him.

Weren't they supposed to be working at the pack office? What were they doing eating at a restaurant?

Jacob stopped taking me out to eat two years ago and that was after Lisa took over as Gamma.

They weren't close before, but after her mother who was the previous Gamma passed away, she took over as Gamma and became close to Jacob.

What would the pack members say when they saw him with her at a restaurant? Did he want to humiliate me?

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I overheard two of our pack members talking.

Claire was staring at the Jacob and Lisa through the restaurant’s glass wall as she squealed, “Alpha Jacob has taken Gamma Lisa out for lunch, isn't he so romantic?”

The other girl, Diana frowned as she replied, "He's already mated to Luna Farrah, so no, it's not romantic.”

"Oh, come on! He hasn't been seen together with Luna Farrah in a while. Besides, I'm sure that you're secretly rooting for Gamma Lisa!" Claire exclaimed as excitement oozed from her every pore.

“No way!" Diana protested, shaking her head.

“I'm sure that Alpha Jacob will leave Luna Farrah and mark Gamma Lisa. I mean look at how close they are!" Claire pressed on.

She grinned as she added, “They're even going on dates! I saw them at the movies two nights ago."

Before Diana could reply, two other pack members walked towards them and one of them, Charlotte joined the conversation as she said, “Yeah, if Alpha Jacob wasn't interested in making her his mate, why would he waste his time and money taking her to expensive restaurants and movie theaters?!”

"Exactly my point, Charlotte!" Claire exclaimed as her grin widened.

The last girl, Ashley, glanced at Jacob and Lisa as she said, “I saw them swimming in wolf form at hotel 17’s swimming pool yesterday."

I felt my stomach churn as I tried to process what I heard.

So they were going swimming when they saw me in an injured state and drove off!

How could they be so heartless?

Only mates went swimming in wolf form. That meant that they wanted to show everyone that they were together.

I had thought that I would be happy with Jacob when I accepted him as my mate, but now, I realized that it wasn't possible.

Dizziness washed over me as I struggled to remain standing. I couldn't even concentrate on what the she-wolves were saying.

It wasn't until I stumbled and almost collapsed on the ground that they noticed me.

They all looked to side and they gasped in shock.

“Luna Farrah, are you okay?" Diana asked me as they came over and supported me.

“Don't worry, I'll be fine." I answered her as drew in a deep breath and let it out, willing the dizziness to go.

“You're obviously not fine. We're taking you to the pack hospital." Ashley said as Claire flagged down a taxi.

Just how pathetic did I look to them?

My mate was on a date with another she-wolf and I was here, trying to stop myself from collapsing.

Ten minutes later, I was led into our bedroom at the pack house by Dr. Nelson after he gave me a full werewolf check-up at the pack hospital.

Chapter 5

“I'll tell Alpha Jacob about your condition." Dr. Nelson said in a snobbish voice as he glanced at me.

I sat down on the bed as I nodded.

“Make sure to take your medication and relax." He added as he placed two bottles of tablets on the bedside table.

"Sure.” I replied in a soft voice since my head was throbbing so badly.

He turned around and made his way out of the room.

I laid down to relax, but sat up when I heard a knock on the door and then it opened.

Diana walked in with a guilty look on her face. She smiled sheepishly at me as she asked, “How are you feeling now?"

“A lot better." I replied with a smile touching my lips.

“Oh, yeah! Of course, you would feel a lot better since you're a Luna wolf and Lunas heal faster than average wolves." She rushed out as she slapped her forehead.

I nodded and replied, “Yeah."

“Did you hear our conversation earlier? Is that why you almost fainted?” She asked me as sweat gathered around her forehead, showing how nervous she was.

I didn't want them to think that I was more pathetic than they actually thought, so I decided to lie, “What conversation?"

Her eyes widened in surprise and then a relieved look made its way to her face and she replied, “Don't worry about it, it's nothing."

I let out a small laugh, feeling glad that she didn't pry any further.

She laughed too even though she looked confused as to why I was laughing.

“What about your friends? Where are they?" I asked her as I laid back down on the bed.

“They're waiting for me outside." She answered me and I realized that she was the only one among them that cared about me. Well, they did say that they were rooting for Lisa to be Jacob's mate.

The door opened before I could reply to her and we both turned to the door.

Jacob walked in with a scowl on his face.

“I'll be leaving now." Diana said as she looked between the two of us.

“Bye, Luna Farrah. Bye, Alpha Jacob!" She added as she walked towards the door.

“Okay, bye!” I called after her.

Jacob merely nodded at her and watched as she left the room, closing the door on her way out.

He walked towards me and stopped beside the bed, “Why didn't you call, text or mind link me about your condition? I had to hear it from Dr. Nelson.”

"Well, I wasn't feeling too good. Besides, I didn't want to ruin your perfect lunch with Lisa.” I retorted as I lifted my chin confidently.

"Who told you about that?" He asked as a panicked look shown on his face.

Chapter 6

“I-" I started, but he cut me off.

“Whoever it is, he's lying. Besides, I texted you to ask what kind of bracelet you wanted, but you didn't answer. So I bought the one that I thought you would like."

“I didn't hear my phone beep." I muttered in a stiff voice, not wanting to tolerate his lies.

How could he lie to me like that?

He pulled out a silver bracelet from his brief case and stretched it towards me.

I didn't feel loved by him like I used to whenever he showered me with gifts. I just felt hurt that he would lie to me and I was sure that he gave me this gift because he wanted me to forgive him after I found Lisa's lingerie.

I didn't take the bracelet from him, instead, I said, “I prefer earrings to bracelets. I've told you this before.”

"Can't you appreciate my gift even if you don't like it?” He asked me as disbelief shown on his face.

“Fine, give it to me." I muttered as I took the bracelet from him even though I knew he was gaslighting me.

He held onto the bracelet tightly, and shook his head, “You said that you don't like it, so I'll be giving it to someone else."

He looked angry as the scowl on his face deepened, but I didn't care. I felt just as angry.

So he didn't even plan on giving me the gift, he just wanted to play around with my feelings.

Before I could reply, he turned around and made his way out of the room.

My phone started ringing and I pulled it out of my purse.

Glancing at the screen, I saw that it was Amal and I couldn't help, but smile.

“Hey, I heard that you've been admitted into the pack’s hospital after seeing Alpha Jacob having lunch with Lisa.” She rushed out in one breath.

So those were the rumors! Who was spreading these rumors? Did they want me to lose the pack members’ respect?

“That's not exactly what happened. I did see them, but I didn't get admitted into the pack hospital. I was just taken there to see Dr. Nelson because I was feeling dizzy.” I replied without telling her about what I heard before I became dizzy since I didn't want her to know.

It was so embarrassing for people to know that I was being cheated on and it was even more embarrassing for them to find out how much it affected me.

She sounded sympathetic as she said, “Oh! So that's what happened. How are you feeling now? What did the doctor say is the cause of the dizziness? I hope it's nothing too serious.”

“Yeah, it's nothing serious, just stress." I replied, feeling better already as I realized that I still have people that care about me.

“Oh, you poor thing. Don't worry, you'll feel better after resting." She cooed like she was speaking to a baby.

I couldn't help, but laugh which made her laugh too.

“By the way, I saw Lisa post about gifts that Alpha Jacob bought her. I'll send you the link to the post.” She muttered in distaste.

Before I could reply, she added, "I need to go, talk to you later.”

"Okay, bye.” I replied and she hung up.

My phone beeped and I checked it to see that it was Amal.

I clicked on the link and saw Lisa's post.

I read it out loud, “Alpha Jacob just bought me a set of jewelry! Isn't he so sweet?"

Under the post was a picture of a golden bracelet together with a golden necklace and golden earrings.

I scoffed in disbelief. So he bought her a full set while he bought me only a piece and it was even ordinary, not made out of gold like hers.

My phone beeped and I saw a message on Facebook from Lisa. We weren't even friends there, but she sent me a message.

I felt curious and viewed it.

It was that same post and I realized that she shared it with me.

She texted again, [Alpha Jacob told me that he gave you a silver bracelet to cheer you up, but you refused to accept it. I can give you mine if you prefer gold.]

She acted like she was being nice, but I knew that it was a ploy to make me feel bad.

She wanted to show me that Jacob cared about her more than he cared about me.

Anger bubbled inside my chest and I frowned.

I wanted to ignore her, but I knew that I should put her in her place since I was her Luna and I deserved her respect.

So I typed a reply, [I already have a gold bracelet with earrings, a necklace and an anklet. Jacob bought them for me on the day of our anniversary.]

Her reply was instant, [Oh.]

“Your reply is amazing! She won't try disrespecting you again!” My wolf, Willow exclaimed in my head.

“But she'll still be disrespecting me since Jacob is having an affair with her." I replied and a sigh escaped my lips.

Willow grunted then said, “But she won't try messing with you again."

“Yeah, you're right." I said as I grabbed one of the bottles of medicine and poured one pill onto my hand.

I did the same with the other bottle then took the glass of water from the bedside table and used it to take the medicine.

“What does our mate even see in her?" Willow pondered.

“No idea, and remember, he won't be our mate for long." I reminded her as I placed the glass cup back on the table.

I climbed out of bed and walked to my chest of drawers.

I opened my large suitcase then pulled out my dresses from the set of drawers first, followed by my skirts and tops and then underwear, toiletries and makeup.

It took me hours to pack, and when I was finally done, I felt relieved.

I was leaving Jacob and going back to my old life!

I will never come back after I leave this time.
