After My Mate Rejected Me, I Became Lycan Royalty Summary
Chapter 1 of After My Mate Rejected Me, I Became Lycan Royalty
At 8:02 PM, Callahan reached out and touched my wrist, and the mate bond ignited between us like an electric shock.
His scent hit me instantly—dark cedar and clean rain. It was rich, dizzying, and undeniably mine. For ten years, I had held onto the small pendant carved from his milk-fang, praying for this exact second. I looked up into his eyes, my heart hammering against my ribs.
His face was cold stone.
He didn’t smile. He didn’t pull me closer. He dropped my wrist like it burned him, turned away, and faced the three hundred wolves standing under the torches.
"I, Callahan, Alpha of the Shadowmere Pack, reject you, Flora, as my mate."
The words struck like an axe. On the left side of my neck, the fresh warmth of the bond mark died. It went icy cold, like an iron door slamming shut on an empty, freezing room. Searing agony tore straight through my marrow. My breath vanished, and my knees hit the wooden platform.
Before the pack could even murmur, Callahan reached out and pulled Chelsea Harper to his side.
"And I name Chelsea Harper as my chosen Luna."
Chelsea wore ivory silk. As Callahan slipped his arm around her waist, she looked down at me. A tight, nasty smirk curled the corner of her red lips. She had planned this down to the second.
Chelsea took half a step forward, letting her new Luna aura flare. "You heard the Alpha, Omega. Kneel properly. Bare your neck in submission."
The clearing went completely silent. My hands shook against the rough boards of the stage. The cold hollow in my chest burned like acid. I brought my other knee down, lowering my head.
Then something deep inside my ribcage snapped.
It wasn't defeat. It was an eruption.
A sharp crack echoed across the stage as my collarbone broke and reset. Agony gave way to an explosive rush of heat. Muscles tore and expanded. Before I could even scream, my human skin tore open, and a wave of brilliant silver-white fur exploded into the night.
Seraphine tore free.
She didn't rise as an ordinary wolf. She surged upward until she stood towering over the platform, easily twice the size of Callahan’s dark Alpha wolf. Her pure silver aura rolled across the courtyard like a shockwave, heavy and suffocating.
The front rows of the pack cried out, stumbling backward. Callahan staggered back two full steps, his face completely drained of color, his inner beast whining in terror under his ribs. Chelsea’s smirk vanished, replaced by sheer panic as she shrank behind him.
Inside my skull, a low, smooth voice resonated for the first time in my life. It was calm, steady, and terrifyingly certain.
*Hello, Flora. My name is Seraphine. I have been here the entire time. She kept me from you.*
A flood of memories unlocked in my head. Bitter herbal teas. The faint, sweet taste in my soup every Tuesday. The small glass vials Chelsea kept hidden in the pantry. Micro-doses of wolfsbane, fed to me day after day since I was eight years old to keep my beast asleep.
My Lycan senses came alive in a flash. My nostrils flared, and I could smell it clearly now—the metallic, toxic stench of wolfsbane coating the back of my own throat.
Seraphine let out a low rumble that vibrated the floorboards, then yielded control.
My bones shifted and shrank back into place. Within seconds, I was on my feet in human form. I stood naked on the stage, chest heaving, silver sparks still dancing across my skin.
I didn't glance at Callahan. I didn't spare a look for Chelsea.
I looked down at the pack elders standing frozen in the first row.
"Someone has been poisoning me with wolfsbane for ten years," I said, my voice dead and clear in the silence. "And I have the chemical traces in my blood to prove it."
A sharp collective gasp rippled through the crowd. Murmurs broke out, fast and nervous.
"Silence!" Callahan roared. Panic twisted his features. His chest heaved as he tried to claw back control before his entire pack. He stepped toward me, clenching his fists, and unleashed the full, crushing weight of his Alpha tone.
"**Kneel, Flora! Submit to your Alpha!**"
The command hit the air like thunder, heavy enough to drop every Delta in the clearing onto their face. It slammed straight into my chest.
And shattered.
It felt like a splash of lukewarm water against a granite cliff. My knees didn't bend. My chin didn't drop. I didn't even blink. I just stood there, looking right through him.
A terrible hush fell over the courtyard.
For the first time in the history of the Shadowmere Pack, an Alpha’s command had failed completely. Callahan’s mouth hung slightly open, his hand trembling at his side. Down below, the Delta warriors didn't drop their gazes out of respect. They stared straight at Callahan's pale, sweating face.
Beside him, Chelsea’s fingers slid quietly into the pocket of her silk dress, curling tight around a small glass bottle.
