When it comes to Chinese short dramas, few stories strike as deep as Forever Was a Lie. This emotional rollercoaster delivers everything—betrayal, broken trust, jealousy, and the kind of heartbreak that keeps viewers hooked episode after episode. If you’re searching for a Chinese drama eng sub experience that mixes raw emotions with family betrayal, this series is worth putting on your watchlist.
At the center of Forever Was a Lie is Nicole Quinn, a young woman whose life is turned upside down after her family’s financial collapse. She moves in with her mother’s best friend and builds a bond with the Smith brothers, Colin and Abel. For a while, life feels almost perfect—until the arrival of Mandy Moore, the jealous daughter of their nanny.
Mandy’s schemes drive a wedge between Nicole and the brothers, leaving her isolated and betrayed. What begins as a story of healing and belonging twists into a dark exploration of envy, manipulation, and lost love. It’s a raw reminder that sometimes, the people we let closest can cause the deepest wounds.
This makes Forever Was a Lie not just another drama, but one of those rare good Chinese dramas that lingers with you long after the credits roll.
