Chapter 1
My best friend Emily Wilson was like the heroine in a novel.
She broke up with her adoptive parents for her hooligan boyfriend Bruce Gavin.
"Mom, Dad. I've always felt suppressed for these years. Only when I'm with Bruce do I feel I'm alive."
She cried and said, "If you don't agree, I will leave the family."
After saying that, Emily ran out of the house. Her adoptive parents, who loved her very much, were so angry that their heart disease relapsed and they were admitted to the hospital.
However, half a month later, Emily went to her adoptive brother Eric Wilson, who once loved her and whom she once loved.
"Eric, I'm in such a mess now. Can you talk to Dad and Mom and let me go home?"
Her mother Sophia Wilson decided to give her one last chance. "Emily, as long as you break up with that hooligan, we will let you go home."
Emily cried sadly. "Can't I have both? Do you want to force me to death?"
That night, Emily came to where I had my part-time job to tell me about her love troubles.
She was wearing the latest Chanel and carrying a Hermès bag that cost millions of dollars.
At that time, I was working overtime to sort the goods in the supermarket. When Emily saw me, her eyes turned red.
"Adele, what should I do?"
I was Adele Moore, the best friend of the heroine in the novel.
I lived a different life from Emily.
We were both abandoned by our parents and grew up in the same orphanage.
When Emily was eight years old, she was adopted by the Wilson family and became rich.
I grew up in the orphanage.
Later, Emily lived a good life.
She ate imported fruits from abroad and wore the latest Chanel clothes. She would buy all the new Hermès styles as soon as they were released.
Besides, despite her parents' opposition, she went to a community college for her hooligan boyfriend. Although her parents blamed her, they still loved her. After graduation, she had a good job because of the Wilson family's connections.
My life was completely different from hers.
I had to work three part-time jobs a day. I often faced sexual harassment from my boss and struggled to make ends meet.
I sighed, "Emily, your boyfriend is a bad guy. Break up with him."
I didn't want to talk with her anymore. Every time I persuaded her to break up, she would complain to her boyfriend.
"Bruce, you should cherish me more. My best friend asked me to break up with you. Do you know how good I am to you?"
That night, her hooligan boyfriend rode a motorcycle to warn me. "Emily is mine. If you try to persuade us to break up again, I..."
Bruce chuckled and showed an ambiguous expression, and his friend looked at me with disgusting eyes.
Seeing my eyes on the shelf, Emily got angry and threw the things in my hand to the ground.
"Adele, I'm your best friend. I am so sad now. Why don't you comfort me?"
She burst into tears. "I'm so sad. I like Bruce, but why does everyone oppose it?"
Emily's boyfriend Bruce dropped out of high school. Now he worked as a security guard and lived off Emily.
"You don't understand. He made me a bowl of porridge." Emily looked obsessed. "I feel at home when I am with him."
The Wilson family treated Emily like their own daughter and provided her with the best food and clothing.
The porridge I cooked for her before had eggs, meat, and shrimp.
"Adele, I envy you. You have to go to work every day. Your life is colorful." Emily had said these words many times.
I was her best friend, but she only came to me to vent her emotions.
Emily continued to mutter with a serious face. "Love is enough to satisfy me. I wish I had never been adopted by the Wilson family. Then I would be free and could pursue my love."
The next second, the ground began to shake.
I heard an electronic voice. "The reader's resentment is detected. The heroine's wish has been fulfilled, and the halo will be used for the last time."
Then, we were all reborn.
But this time, the person adopted by the Wilson family was me.
Chapter 2
I was reborn at the age of eight, the day before Emily was about to be adopted by the Wilson family.
When I just woke up, I was a little dazed, staring blankly at my hands that had suddenly become smaller.
I heard a childish cry.
"I don't want to be adopted. If I'm adopted, I'll lose my freedom, be controlled, and even my love will be controlled by others.
"I would rather starve to death than have unfree love!"
It was Emily’s voice!
Now her name was Emily Moore.
Both of us were picked up by the director of the orphanage. We had no name or surname, so we both took the director's surname Moore. Emily changed her surname after she was adopted by the Wilson family.
The children who were surrounding Emily looked at each other.
After a while, a girl said, "Emily, we all want to be adopted so that we can have a home."
Emily cried even louder. "You don't understand what life is like after being adopted. It's a torture. You're even not allowed to make any noise while eating."
The girl said, "But the director doesn't allow us to make any noise while eating either."
At this moment, I was sure that Emily was also reborn.
She was still a lovestruck girl like her previous life.
"This must be an opportunity God gave me. As long as I'm not adopted in this life, I will not hurt Bruce's self-esteem and can take better care of him," Emily said.
She stopped crying. Although she was only eight years old, she began to think about how to find Bruce and meet him in advance.
In this way, she would be Bruce's first love, and he wouldn't have several girlfriends.
Nor would they quarrel over Bruce's several ex-girlfriends after they started dating.
Seeing Emily crying while laughing, the children who were surrounding her to comfort her hurriedly ran to find the director.
"Emily is strange. We don't understand what she is saying. Ms. Moore, please go and check on her!"
The next day, Sophia came to the orphanage to adopt a child with her son Eric Wilson.
The director gently introduced the children in the orphanage. Emily hid at the back because she didn't want to lose her freedom and be adopted by the Wilson family.
Standing in the corner, I knew that Emily was the heroine and would be chosen by Sophia just like in her previous life.
Unexpectedly, Sophia walked straight towards me.
She looked beautiful and elegant, wearing a black suit skirt.
"Your name is Adele, right? Do you want to go home with me?"
I looked at Sophia in surprise as she smiled gently at me.
Emily, who was standing at the back, suddenly said, "Shouldn't you beg to adopt me?"
Hearing her words, everyone looked at her in surprise.
Emily didn't take it seriously. She was pampered by the Wilson family in her previous life, and she treated her rebirth as the same as in her previous life.
"Mom, no. Mrs. Wilson, if you adopt me, you must not restrict my freedom and let me pursue my love freely."
Emily straightened her back and said stubbornly, "If you can do that, I am willing to be adopted by you!"
The room suddenly became quiet.
The director pushed Emily away and said with an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry. Emily is still young. She was just joking."
Sophia nodded, without even looking at Emily. She bent down and grabbed my hand, saying gently, "Are you willing to go home with me?"
Home?
Would I have a home?
I nodded blankly.
In this way, I was adopted by the Wilson family.
The Wilson family's business was ranked among the top three locally. My adoptive parents Sophia and David were busy with work, so they asked my brother Eric to take me to visit my new home.
Eric wore a shirt and a pair of black-framed glasses. Although he was only at the age of ten, he looked particularly calm.
"Adele, this is your room." He took me into the specially tidied princess room, which was pink and warm.
There were clothes in the closet that Sophia had asked someone to prepare in advance, and the big bed was filled with dolls.
Obviously, they valued their adopted child very much.
Chapter 3
Eric pushed his glasses with a serious face.
"Mom is a germaphobe. Change your clothes first. We'll go downstairs and eat together."
"Okay," I said with a smile.
After reuniting with Emily in my previous life, she often complained to me that Sophia was strict with her.
"Adele, you have no idea what a miserable life I have in the Wilson family." With red eyes, Emily complained aggrievedly, "On the first day I was adopted, my mother asked me to change my clothes. She even said I had no manners when I ate.
"She doesn't allow me to make any noise while eating or put all the food on my plate."
Emily always liked to describe herself as a weak person, telling me how badly the Wilson family treated her and how painful her life was.
I knew the plot when I was sixteen, and I lived a totally different life from her to highlight how well she was doing.
That year, Emily met Bruce and became a lovestruck girl.
She skipped classes and drank in the bar, but she was still doted on by the Wilson family. After Bruce spread the details of their sex, Emily couldn't stay in school anymore, so the Wilson family sent her abroad to study, with a tuition fee of two million dollars a year.
I dropped out of high school when I was a sophomore.
I had good grades at that time. When I dropped out, my teacher looked at me with regret and said, "Why don't you hold on for another two years? With your grades, you will be admitted to a famous university."
I smiled bitterly. The director was diagnosed with cancer some time ago, so I had to drop out of school and work to support the kids in the orphanage.
While I was working three jobs a day, Emily lived an extravagant life abroad, and her bag cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I contacted her to borrow money for the director's treatment, but when she heard that, she changed the subject and hung up the phone.
Both of us were picked up by the director. If it weren't for her, we would have died on the streets in the winter.
Perhaps I should have realized at that time that Emily was an indifferent person.
After Emily returned, she wanted to break up with the Wilson family for Bruce, and I went to persuade her.
I knew we were in the world in the book, and I was worried that she did all kinds of irrational things because she was manipulated by the plot.
She said complacently, "Adele, you don't understand how much I love him. I just like the way he ignores me and is always proud.
"You have no time for love because you work every day. When you have money to date, you will understand me."
I understood that Emily was not controlled by the plot.
She was just a lovestruck girl.
Now I lived my life over again. I would like to study hard and complete the unfinished studies in my previous life.
I would be kind to people who helped me before.
In this life, I wanted to study at a top university!
I lived with the Wilson family.
David was very busy at work, and he needed to make all the decisions of the company. But whenever he was free, he would eat at home and accompany Eric and me to go out and play.
Sophia was very strict with us because she was a lady from a noble family who received the best elite education since she was young.
She was strict with us and herself.
While supervising our studies every day, she also managed company affairs and went out to maintain connections when she had time.
Sophia got up at six in the morning and ran for an hour to maintain her figure.
One day, I also got up early and ran with her.
Sophia was surprised to see me and said coldly, "Why did you get up so early?"
"I get up early and exercise," I said.
She nodded and smiled.
After we had been running together for a week, Eric also joined us.
"Why didn't you ask me to run? I can join you in the exercise."
So the three of us started running together.
Later, David would also join us when he was not on a business trip.
"I have to exercise more, or your mom will dislike me."
The atmosphere at home was very good. Although Sophia was strict with us, she would stay by my side all night if I was sick.
Eric was three years older than me, and he was very caring towards me.
I studied harder than in my previous life, and Sophia was very satisfied with my grades.
My math was bad, so she spent a lot of money to find a famous teacher from another city to tutor me.
I ranked first in the city and was admitted to the best local high school.
Both Sophia and David were very happy about that.
Eric was so generous that he transferred ten thousand dollars to me, saying it was a gift for me.
