Chapter 2
I found Susan's room, knocked, and entered.
Susan was sick of me, but she never looked down on me. Besides, she was one of the few people willing to help me in my previous life.
I came in and said bluntly, "Please lend me some money, and I'll give it back to you soon."
"Why are you borrowing money from me?"
"I need to do something to move out soon to keep from annoying you guys."
Susan sighed helplessly and loaned me tens of thousands of dollars.
I took the money and got on a bus back to my house in the slums.
No one ever asked where I went.
My biological mother, Maria, was oppressed by my grandmother, Sandra, who worked early in the morning and late at night.
My biological father, Gary Baker, was an alcoholic and gambler who lost all the money Maria made.
In my previous life, I didn't care about anything here after I left because I wasn't doing well for myself, and I cut off my ties here.
However, Maria helped me several times in my previous life when I was at my hardest times, and she told me to take care of myself.
It seemed that she was my real mother.
I found Maria, who was working in the field, still grieving that I had been taken away from her, so she was extra delighted when she saw me.
"Jonathan, I'm glad you're okay. Go live your own life, and don't worry about me." It was what a mother would say.
I took Maria away secretly while Gary was still drinking, and I rented a house in the city.
I wished Maria would stay here for good and never go back. I gave her some money and promised her that I would visit her later.
I crept back to my old home. I went up the mountain at dark to pick raspberries and brought them back.
When I married Cecilia from the Jones family in my previous life, I realized that this mountain was a land of treasure.
At that time, as my family suddenly became rich, Maria hurriedly sent me some money.
However, the money left in my family was gambled away by Gary the next day.
I found this place early this time. I was going to use the raspberries as my capital to make money, and find a way to save up before I was discovered.
At night, I head back downtown again.
I slipped into a winery that I knew from my previous life, which I heard about when Cecilia took me to attend a high society event.
The owner behind it was not an ordinary person, and I couldn't afford to offend him.
I remember they were constantly looking for raspberries of high quality.
I came in holding the raspberries and found the owner, Jack Martin.
"I want to talk business with you."
Jack smiled, and he looked like a very shrewd person.
"Boy, what do you want to talk about?" Jack smiled and looked back behind the counter, but I didn't notice it.
"I've got fine raspberries, and I'd like to work with you to supply you on a regular basis. I don't know much about wine, but you should give me a nice price.
"Also, I have one more request. Can you settle my bill in cash immediately?" I looked at him expectantly, thinking, "I'm not taking any risks, am I?"
After all, even though the Jones family had been flattering Jack in my previous life, they hadn't gotten what they wanted.
Jack smiled, "Show me your raspberries."
I handed them over as he got up and walked towards the back to tell me to wait.
After a while, he came back with a pile of cash, more than I expected.
"Boy, I'll buy your raspberries. From now on, I'll take as much as you have, and I'll never shortchange you."
I counted the money, waved my hand, and hurried away.
I finally got my capital this time.
Everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for me when I entered the door of the Kingsley Manor.
"Where have you been?" Brad looked at me with a serious face.
"I'm new here, so I'm looking around."
"You were being rude. You should make him learn some rules, and don't embarrass me." With that, Brad got up and left.
Sure enough, I had to learn something again.
In my previous life, I wanted to get into the rich class quickly and learn management and finance so that I could find a decent wife.
However, while these things were wonderful, the rich kids learned them from their childhood, so even though I worked hard, I was still no match for them.
I was laughed at for a long time by the rich kids, who said I was blindly imitating the rich.
"Give me the money, and I can teach myself."
Sure enough, Zachary and Susan snickered at me there, so I still couldn't ask for the money.
"You haven't seen the world. If we give you money, you'll definitely spend it frivolously. Tell us what you want to learn."
It seemed I couldn't resist learning something.
In my previous life, I learned a lot of socializing skills to help attract business partners for the Jones family.
"Such as racing, horsemanship, archery, and golf. I'm going to learn those."
What I said stunned Laura, Susan, and Zachary.
I could make my own contacts on these occasions, so I would learn these things this time.
Besides, I could get strong and make money at the same time.
Chapter 3
Susan smiled maliciously.
Zachary asked tentatively, "Don't you want to get into the family business and learn something?"
In my previous life, I said incidentally, "I would like to."
However, they thought I was trying to compete for the family fortune, deepening their animosity towards me.
At that time, Laura said I wasn't fit to learn the family business, and since then, she cut off all my financial resources and just gave me a credit card with a low limit.
I refused decisively this time, and Zachary was a bit taken aback in turn.
Zachary was very cunning, and he grew up with an elite education.
He only cared about the pros and cons.
Susan usually defended Zachary, but she wasn't raised as an heir and didn't have the same insights as Zachary.
From now on, I should pay extra attention to what Zachary said in case I fall for his trap.
"Alright, you can start learning in the next few days and develop your character. Dad will have a party in a few days to announce your return to the public, and you'll need to show yourself off then."
Recently, in addition to all these things, I had also secretly studied with a teacher at the winery, and I exchanged raspberries with him for the opportunity to learn.
Jack agreed, but he only taught me the theory and to recognize the types of wine.
As the family dinner began, I came dressed in jeans and a white shirt with a backpack.
I used to dress up to prove myself.
However, everyone looked at me like I was a monkey all night.
I realized that famous families were just more relaxed than anyone else.
I didn't want to be humiliated either.
I got some food and hid in the corner of the garden to eat it.
"Cecilia, my brother is back."
I turned around and realized that the last time I overheard Zachary and Cecilia talking, and they looked down on me.
At that time, I felt indignant and began to notice Cecilia.
I grew to love her and vowed to marry her.
The Jones family and the Kingsley family were related, so Zachary and Cecilia grew up together.
Normally, the two families intended to tie the knot.
In fact, Cecilia looked gorgeous and sexy. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had to marry her.
The Jones family had been in business for decades, and they were the upstart of the business world, with many people wanting to socialize with them.
However, Cecilia was the second child of the Jones family. Her oldest sister was brilliant, so Cecilia envied her, and she didn't want to be looked down upon.
That might be why Cecilia was upset after marrying me in my previous life. She had thought the eldest son of the Kingsley family was excellent, but I was terrible, so she killed me for start-up capital.
Cecilia was choosing someone who would be useful to her.
I was going to stay away from her.
Zachary and Cecilia kept talking about me.
I was listening silently and eating as they talked to each other.
I didn't want to be killed by her anyway.
What if Zachary and Cecilia got married and Cecilia would be in love with him?
I still hid in a corner halfway through the banquet.
At this moment in my previous life, I would be showing off and introducing myself as a young master.
As Brad's guests saw how embarrassed I was, they made an excuse to leave early.
The atmosphere was much more harmonious after I was quiet this time.
There seemed to be a complete absence of me here.
"Come on, Jonathan, we should go with Zachary and Susan to meet an important guest."
Brad hadn't done this in my previous life, and perhaps he was embarrassed by my performance at that time.
The woman sitting across the table looked capable, no less than Brad, who had been in business for a long time.
"Thank you for coming, Ms. Clark."
I thought, "Sarah Clark? Is she the heir to the Clark family? She didn't usually show up much, and Cecilia couldn't even see her when she tried to flatter her back then, but she came to the Kingsley Manor today."
"The Clark family has always been rich, they used to have a nationwide business, and we are completely outmatched." Zachary whispered to himself, his eyes determined.
"Ms. Clark is resourceful. Even though she's young, she fixed the relatives in the family business and successfully got the position of the chairperson," Susan told Zachary.
So Brad wanted to socialize with her. Was he planning on perusing both Cecilia and Sarah?
I had never met Sarah in my previous life, and she was out of my league. I knew myself well enough and it was best to avoid her.
"Mr. Kingsley, you're dressed so plain. Did the Kingsley family treat you badly?"
