Chapter 1

"If you refuse to apologize, stay here and reflect on your actions! Feel the pain Agnes went through!"

Kenneth was the Alpha. His childhood friend was accidentally locked in a storage unit for three days. To punish me, he locked me in a faulty walk-in freezer.

He left me with nothing but a piece of bread the size of my palm before locking the door and leaving.

Unbeknownst to him, this walk-in freezer wasn't actually faulty.

Not long after he left, the cooling system was suddenly activated.

I screamed for help and desperately sought ways to survive. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I clawed at the door, nobody came to my rescue.

A week later, he finally showed up outside the freezer. He was expecting an apology from me.

But when he opened the freezer's door, all he found was my frozen corpse.

Kenneth was the Alpha. His childhood friend was accidentally locked in a storage unit for three days. To punish me, he locked me in a faulty walk-in freezer.

He left me with nothing but a piece of bread the size of my palm before locking the door and leaving.

Unbeknownst to him, the walk-in freezer wasn't actually faulty.

Not long after he left, the cooling system was suddenly activated.

I screamed for help and desperately sought ways to survive. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I clawed at the door, nobody came to my rescue.

Kenneth glanced at the calendar. His expression became even colder.

“It’s been three days. Irene still refuses to admit her mistake. That vile woman!”

Agnes walked up to Kenneth from behind. She gently massaged his shoulders.

"Why don't we just let it go? Irene didn’t mean to lock me in the storage unit."

Kenneth turned around and took Agnes’s hand. His expression softened.

"As my wife, how could she be so cruel? She locked you in the storage unit and now refuses to take responsibility by apologizing. Such arrogance. Someone like her is unworthy of being the Luna of the pack, let alone being respected. If only Irene were as understanding as you.”

"Irene only did it because she cares about you. She’s afraid I’ll take you away from her, so she locked me up as punishment, hoping I’d stay away from you.”

Kenneth was silent for a moment before calling his secretary inside.

"Has Irene given in and apologized?”

"No, Kenneth. There’s been no sound from the freezer. Should we let her out first? What if something bad happens?”

"Keep her locked up until she begs for mercy!”

Kenneth waved his hand impatiently. His expression turned dark. The secretary left, and Agnes smirked in satisfaction.

My soul hovered nearby as I let out a bitter laugh.

'Kenneth, you’ll never get the apology you want as I’m already dead,' I thought.

I had died three days ago.

That so-called faulty freezer was once used to interrogate and freeze prisoners from neighboring packs. When it broke down due to a short circuit, no one bothered to repair it.

The pitch-black walls were covered with deep claw marks and stained with dried blood from those who had been there before me.

After they locked me inside, for some reason, the freezer powered back on.

A cold white mist spread rapidly, and within moments, the temperature plummeted to negative fifty degrees.

I screamed desperately for help, but no one answered.

At first, I could still hear faint voices outside the door, but my pleas were met with nothing but indifference.

"Alpha Kenneth ordered you to reflect on your actions, Luna Irene. Please don’t make things difficult for us.”

"Just open the door! The freezer powered back on. It’s too cold and dark in here. Get the pack's healer now!”

However, nobody responded outside. They had all left.

I wrapped my arms around myself and searched for anything to keep warm.

I clawed at every inch of the walls, hoping to find a hidden exit.

I forced myself to overcome my fear of the dark and cold. When I couldn’t bear it anymore, I jogged in circles to keep my body from going numb.

But all I found were the frozen claw marks and dried blood of past victims. I still couldn’t find a way out.

When I finally realized I was going to die here, I felt a sharp pain in my heart.

At some point, I saw something curled up in the corner.

It was my corpse.

My lifeless body lay there with my eyes wide open in despair. My claws were exposed, torn and bloody, and my nails were broken off, revealing the white bones beneath.

Fresh claw marks that were smeared with my blood covered the walls.

I tried to approach my corpse, but the next second, an invisible force yanked me away. I was teleported directly to Kenneth’s side.

It felt ironic and ridiculous to observe him and Agnes while they interacted with each other.

'Kenneth, you wanted my life in exchange for an apology. I hope we'll never meet in the next life.’

I hovered beside them, watching as Kenneth and Agnes gazed into each other’s eyes. Their affection was overflowing.

My heart ached.

"Kenneth, come with me to the art exhibition tomorrow," Agnes said.

"Alright, you should get some rest for now.”

Just as Agnes turned around, there was a clap of thunder outside.

Lightning flashed, illuminating the room for a brief moment. Agnes gasped and turned back, throwing herself into Kenneth’s arms. She was pretending to be terrified.

"It’s going to rain tonight. You’ve been afraid of thunder since you were a kid. Let me stay with you tonight.”

Agnes made an attempt to appear bold. She was only one step away from Kenneth. His hand lingered in the air as if savoring the warmth of their embrace.

“Irene was always bothered by my presence. If she knew you were with me, she’d throw a tantrum again.”

Kenneth stood upright and grabbed Agnes’ hand.

"You and I grew up together. We’re like siblings. I spoiled Irene too much. She’s gotten increasingly petty and unreasonable. Just ignore her.”

Agnes clung to Kenneth’s arm. She pouted playfully.

"With you by my side, I’m the happiest girl in the world. We can sleep in the same room again, and you’ll tell me bedtime stories. It’ll be just like when we were kids!”

Kenneth gazed at Agnes, playfully tapping her nose before leading her to the bedroom.

I watched them. They looked like a loving couple. Meanwhile, I hovered there like an outsider peeking into someone else’s happy life.

A month ago, when Agnes returned to the hunting grounds where she and Kenneth grew up, she insisted on staying in our home. She said she wanted to relive her childhood memories.

I objected, but Kenneth exploded in anger and accused me of being heartless and cruel.

"She’s all alone now. We grew up together. I won’t let her live outside by herself. It’s not safe!”

Before I became his mate, Kenneth made me live alone in some random apartment. He never once cared about my safety.

Back then, he told me, "Irene, I want us to wait until our wedding night to live together. I want to make sure our passion lasts."

Now, thinking back, I realized Kenneth never truly loved me.

The realization hurt so much I could hardly breathe.

Kenneth led Agnes into the master bedroom.

That was supposed to be my room, but when Agnes arrived, Kenneth told me to move out.

It was all because Agnes said she liked the sunlight there.

Chapter 2

I followed them into the bedroom. Kenneth sat by the bed while he sang Agnes a lullaby.

A flash of lightning struck across the sky, and Agnes screamed, suddenly clutching Kenneth and burying her head in his chest. The terrified look on her face made Kenneth want to protect her.

Kenneth pulled her into his arms and spoke softly to comfort her.

"It’s okay, don’t be afraid. I’ll always be with you!"

Seeing them so close, I felt like a clown. It seemed like I had forced myself into their home and disrupted their relationship.

I was afraid of thunder too, but Kenneth thought I was only pretending.

"You’re an adult wolf now. There will be many things you’ll have to face on your own. It’s just thunder, why are you afraid of that?"

I could only hug myself, pulling the covers over my head.

I waited in bed, alone and with a flashlight, until the rain stopped.

Watching them behave so intimately, I wanted to leave. I didn’t want to keep seeing them rub salt into my wounds. I also wanted to avoid the thunder and wait for the storm to pass.

But no matter how much I tried, my soul couldn't leave the room.

I was forcibly trapped here, waiting with them in the same room until the thunder finally stopped, and the rain ceased.

Kenneth glanced out the window before looking at Agnes, who was sleeping peacefully in his arms. He quietly slipped out.

Once Kenneth left, Agnes slowly opened her eyes, smiling smugly and muttering to herself while staring at the ceiling.

"Kenneth, you’re mine. No one will ever try to take you away from me again."

I was stunned, looking at Agnes. How could she say something like that? Did she know something I didn’t?

I was suddenly pulled to the study. Kenneth was sitting alone at his desk, gently wiping our photo.

"Irene, after all this time, why are you still so stubborn and refuse to apologize? When will you grow up and understand things?"

Kenneth sighed, placing the photo back on the desk. He looked out the window and lit a cigarette.

I hadn’t done anything wrong. Why should I apologize?

His words were laughable.

There were so many times when he refused to listen to my side of the story. He always believed that whatever he saw was the truth.

Even when something had nothing to do with me, he would still find reasons to pin all the blame on me.

Now, I was dead because of Kenneth's stubbornness.

How could he have the nerve to ask me to apologize?

I always thought Kenneth was a wise and courageous leader.

After all, his pack had been growing stronger, and surrounding wolf packs didn’t dare to offend him.

But whenever it came to Agnes, he became blind and domineering.

It was as though Agnes was meant to be his mate, and I was just an outsider occupying a position that didn’t belong to me.

The guard at the freezer hadn’t heard any noise from me for days and went to find Kenneth.

"Alpha Kenneth, maybe we should open the door and check. Luna Irene hasn’t made a sound in there for days."

"It’s only been a few days. Not eating or drinking doesn’t affect her. If she wants to resist, we’ll keep her locked up until she gives in!"

Kenneth angrily shoved the documents off his desk.

"But there’s been no noise at all inside."

The guard didn’t dare move. He let the documents fall by his feet.

Kenneth stood up and took a step forward, but that was when Agnes walked in and shut the door.

"Kenneth, where are you going?"

Kenneth wanted to speak, but he said nothing in the end. He turned around and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Just as the guard was about to leave, Kenneth stopped him.

"Wait a minute, I’ll go with you to see what Irene is up to!"

Agnes grabbed Kenneth’s arm and looked up at him.

"I’ll go with you. She’s been in there for several days. I’m a little worried about her."

Kenneth nodded. Just as his hand touched the doorknob, Agnes clutched her chest and gasped for air.

Kenneth quickly held her in his arms.

"Agnes, what’s wrong? Quickly, get the doctor!"

Agnes couldn’t even say a word before she fainted.

Kenneth hurriedly carried her and ran to the master bedroom.

Kenneth ended up caring for Agnes all night.

In the end, he didn’t go to see me.

Chapter 3

I didn’t know whether Agnes or I was more important to Kenneth.

"Kenneth, maybe you should check on Irene. It’s been so many days. I’m fine now anyway."

"Lie down and rest. What do you mean you’re fine? Your condition relapsed because of her, and you’ve only just started recovering. Have you forgotten how much you suffered?

You don’t need to worry about her. I know what I’m doing. A few days in there won’t hurt her. I want her to remember this lesson well."

Every time Agnes offered to compromise, it hurt Kenneth’s heart.

Meanwhile, I had to bear the betrayal and false accusations alone.

“Please, I’m begging you. For my sake, go see her. I don’t want you two to keep growing further apart because of me.

"The more you do this, the more guilty I’ll feel!"

Kenneth remained silent. Agnes couldn’t read his expression. She waited for a long time before cautiously asking, "What is it? What’s the problem?"

“Nothing. I just think I should bring a doctor along this time. It’s been so many days. I don’t know what she might have done to herself. I have a bad feeling about this."

I was forced to watch everything from above.

Kenneth’s sudden unease made me wonder what kind of game he was playing.

Since he thought of bringing a doctor along, he probably assumed I would go to extreme lengths just to keep up the act.

With a doctor present, it would also be easier to confirm my cause of death.

I really wanted to see the look on his face once he found out I was dead.

Agnes patted Kenneth on the back. He lowered his head and let out a bitter laugh.

"If only Irene were half as understanding as you. She’s too stubborn. She refuses to suffer even the slightest loss."

"She’s your wife, after all. She’s afraid I’ll take you away, so she overpowers me and pushes me down. It’s all because of you. It proves she loves you."

Kenneth glanced at Agnes and let out a scoff.

"If she truly loved me, she should understand why I’m treating her this way. She should have apologized long ago!"

I watched Agnes from above. A wave of resentment rose in my heart.

I had never wanted to compete with her for Kenneth. I had witnessed how they grew up with a strong bond.

After I had learned of her existence, I even regarded her as a younger sister.

But I never expected that she would try to replace me at every turn.

It was all because she wanted to be the one by Kenneth’s side.

I had long had enough of her endless false accusations and Kenneth’s distrust.

Before Agnes was locked in the storage unit, I had already planned to ask Kenneth to sever our mate bond.

Even if he refused, I would go to a sorcerer and get the potion to forcibly break our mate bond.

Kenneth returned to his office alone. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window and gazed at the view outside.

After a long while, the lights outside gradually dimmed.

He picked up the phone and called his secretary.

"What’s the situation in the freezer?"

"We just sent someone to check. Luna Irene refuses to say a word. There’s been no sound from inside at all."

Kenneth rubbed his temples and sighed.

"Ask her, what will it take for her to speak? Forget it, I’ll go there myself. Tell her, if I don’t hear the apology I want, she still won’t be let out!"

He hurriedly left his office.

Beyond his line of sight, Agnes silently appeared in the shadows.

While watching him leave, she let out a soft chuckle.

At the freezer, the guards saw Kenneth approaching and quickly led him to the door.

"Open the door. Let Irene out!"

One of them slowly pushed the door open. A wave of freezing air rushed out. It was so cold it made their eyes sting.

"Alpha Kenneth, the freezer’s cooling system has been activated!"

"What are you talking about? Wasn’t this a faulty freezer?"

The chilling air swirling at their feet sent shivers through everyone present.

"Irene, come out at once! Don’t think that just because the freezer is on, I’ll forgive you!"

Kenneth roared furiously at the entrance.

But silence was the only response he received.

No one dared to speak. Trembling, they quietly took a few steps back. They were afraid of being caught in Kenneth’s fury.

"Someone, go in and bring her out!"

The guards exchanged glances before wrapping their coats tightly around themselves and stepped inside.

Moments later, terrified screams could be heard from within.

“Alpha Kenneth, Luna Irene is–"
