Chapter 1

When Calvin Hatfield cheated on me, his wife, for the first time, he dragged his lover in front of me with red eyes and told me to let me do whatever I wanted.

I loved him so much that I chose to forgive him for the mistake he made accidentally that time.

The second time he cheated on me, I sent that woman abroad and ordered her never to come back.

On the night of the engagement party, Calvin pinched my neck and pressed a dagger against my lower abdomen.

With red eyes, he asked me, “Where is Freida? Did you know she's pregnant?

“I couldn't control my lower body. If you want to get angry, come at me. Freida is just a little girl.

“She shouldn't have to endure this. I beg you. As long as the child is born safely, I can never see her again in my life.”

“Aren't you afraid of the pain of childbirth? I only want the child in Freida's belly, okay? Don't worry, the child will only recognize you as his biological mother. This is my promise to you.”

The tip of the knife pierced his lower abdomen and blood seeped out of my skin.

I looked at him with a smile and told him Freida Steele's whereabouts.

The sound of a door slamming was heard and I took out my mobile phone tremblingly and called the number.

“You're right this time. Can you still help me?”

——

I asked as soon as the other person received my call.

However, on the other end of the phone, the man cursed inwardly, his tone helpless. “Why didn't you tell me earlier before I've already gone abroad? Now, how can I help you?

“Miss Williams, let me tell you, you have been so smart all your life, but you have failed twice with the same man. Has your emotional intelligence been surpassed by your IQ?”

My voice became more bitter as I pressed harder on the wound on my abdomen, “I'm sorry, I owe you this time. I'll give you 30% of the profit on the next cooperation project. Is that enough?”

The person on the other side was startled and instantly became interested, saying, “Send the time and location and make sure you arrive on time.

“Next time you need this kind of cooperation, remember to look for me! I will never cheat anyone.”

The complete wedding plan was sent to Carlos Clayton.

The other party quickly replied with an ‘OK’ expression.

The wedding room that had been prepared was smashed into a mess by Calvin, just like my mood at the moment.

Just after checking in at the hotel, Calvin called again.

The hum of the plane was loud, but I could still keenly hear the suppressed anger in his voice as he apologized, “Terrie, I'm on a plane going abroad now. I can't accompany you tonight.”

“You should have a good rest. I'm sorry, I was too emotional just now. I didn't mean to hurt you.

“Is the injury serious? How about I ask a private doctor to take a look now?”

I interrupted him coldly, “No.”

Calvin's tone suddenly darkened when he tried to make an excuse, “Terrie, didn't I tell you? What happened between Freida and me was just an accident. Someone drugged me and I mistook her for you.

“Now that it has happened, I can only find her. Am I going to let the Hatfield Family's child be born abroad?

“Didn't you forgive me once before? Why do you have to mess with me this time? The wedding is in a week, so you should calm down tonight.”

Staring at the chat history with Carlos on the screen, I said coldly, “No, I won't marry you. Calvin, I've said before that I can't tolerate any mistake anymore.”

Just as I was about to hang up the phone, he suddenly became angry and sneered, “You won't marry me? Are you kidding me?

“The engagement party is over and now the whole world knows that the Hatfield Family is going to form an alliance with the Williams Family. You're saying this now? Threatening me with an alliance?

“Terrie, we grew up together, you know who you are best. If I hadn't been set up, I wouldn't have betrayed you!

“People say that things never happen more than three times. I just made two mistakes. When the child is born, I promise that Freida will never appear in front of you for the rest of her life. Is that not okay?”

Chapter 2

Tears suddenly rolled down my cheeks and a bitter smile appeared on the corners of my lips as I confronted, “So? You want me to look at the child you had with another woman every day and remind me of the mistakes you made every day?”

“Calvin, I can't do it. Sorry.”

As soon as I finished speaking, he roared, “Okay, remember what you said and don't regret it if you can!”

“What man with this family background doesn't have a lover outside? I've handed Freida over to you. I've done my best.”

“If you can accept it, we will get married. If not, get out of my life. I will still choose my child no matter what.”

After the call ended, my disheveled figure was reflected in the French window.

Suite No. 13520 was once his favorite date spot.

He said it was filled with memories of our love.

Valentine's Day, birthdays, anniversaries.

The room almost became ours alone.

But that time, I was the only one who still remembered it.

Calvin told my parents of the news of the broken engagement and they immediately called to inquire about it.

“Terrie, what happened? Why did Calvin say you wanted to break off the engagement? This is not a joke. You can't fool around.”

I buried my body deeply in the quilt, my voice choked as I answered, “His lover is pregnant.”

“What man doesn't make mistakes? Just get rid of the baby….”

I immediately interrupted, “I'm not going to break off the engagement, I'm just changing the person, you know him, Carlos.”

My father swallowed his words of persuasion, while my mother was so surprised that she lost her voice.

“Carlos? Aren't you two sworn enemies? Have you forgotten that he almost burned your hair when you were a child?”

I smiled and tried my best to keep my tone light as I explained, “That’s why, I want to marry him and torture him for the rest of my life.”

I tossed and turned, the pain from the wound in my abdomen kept me awake all night.

The next morning, I contacted the agent to sell the wedding house.

I went back to pack my things, I saw Calvin's private plane still parked on the lawn.

When I opened the door, I could see a wall full of heartwarming photos. But the figure in the photo was not me, it was Freida.

Arctic glaciers, the Eiffel Tower, the burned Notre Dame. He took Freida to all the places we had been to together.

He once said that he hated taking photos, since being in a high position, who knew what those reporters and opponents would do with his photos.

No matter how much I begged and promised, we never had a photo together.

But that time, Freida had become his exception.

The two stopped under the photo wall, Freida touched her not-so-obvious belly with a cute smile as she asked, “Calvin, when the baby is born, let's take him out to play, okay?

“He must like these places. After all, once I said that, the baby suddenly kicked me as if he agreed.”

The sound of the door opening attracted the attention of both people.

He turned around and saw me appear.

Freida knelt straight in front of me, hugged my waist and begged me, admitting her mistake, “Terrie, it's my fault. I didn't keep my promise to stay abroad. Please don't blame me, okay?

“I really like Calvin so much. I swear, I will leave after the baby is born and will not be a nuisance to you."

Without waiting for me to speak, Calvin sneered twice, “You don't need to apologize to her. You met me because you were drugged. So, I am the one who owes you.”

He looked up at me and explained, “Terrie, I have already found out who drugged me. That company will close within a month.

“Freida is innocent and was forced to do something wrong. You shouldn't blame her. I can let this matter go. Just apologize and let it go.”

Chapter 3

I looked back, my eyes were cold without any emotion.

I just thought it was ridiculous.

“I apologize? Calvin, are you crazy?”

The next second, the hand on my waist suddenly exerted force and poked my wound.

I gasped in pain and my whole body was soaked with cold sweat, so I quickly pushed the person away.

Without much effort, Freida fell directly on the cabinet.

“What are you doing?!”

Calvin pushed me hard and my forehead hit the door frame heavily. Blood immediately seeped out.

“I think you are the one who is crazy! Freida has already bowed to you and I've explained it to you, what else do you want?

“Apologize to her now!”

Gritting my teeth and swallowing my grievances, I spoke word by word, “No way! I will never apologize to your lover, Calvin. Don’t you dare dream of that!”

“You choose to be stubborn? Fine then.”

Calvin's eyes turned red with anger and he quickly carried Freida into the bedroom to rest.

When he went out, he called the servants of the villa and ordered, “Where's the chain? Take it out.

“The madam has gone mad. Let her kneel down in the manor and sober up!

“Don't let her get up without my order.”

My eyes suddenly turned red and I looked at him in disbelief as I confronted, “Calvin, you are crazy! She is just a mistress, how dare you do this to me?

“This is the house I bought.”

“But I am the master!” Calvin snapped.

After glancing at me coldly, Calvin said nothing more.

The servant quickly dragged me out the door.

The blood left a long trail on the ground.

The moment the door of the villa was closed, a loud thunder suddenly sounded in the clear sky.

Then, heavy rain fell.

I was soaked all over quickly.

I knelt in the rain and the wounds on my forehead and abdomen began to feel hot.

My consciousness gradually became blurred.

I looked at the servant who was supervising me and said in an extremely weak voice, “Let me go. Help me call Calvin over, please."

The servant glanced at me as if he was watching a show and stood under the eaves with a sneer on his face, “Forget about it. I've seen you act pitifully many times.”

“Mr. Hatfield just called a private doctor, who is now busy treating Miss Steele's wounds.”

Looking up hard, I saw a figure looming on the terrace on the second floor. The next second, my eyes went dark and I collapsed to the ground.

In a coma, I heard the servants shouting anxiously, “Oh no, Miss Williams is in a coma!

“There's blood on the ground. Let's get a doctor to take a look.”

Familiar footsteps approached and an umbrella was held above my head.

Calvin's voice was exceptionally cold, “Have you finished pretending? For the person who doesn't know, they might think you're the one who's pregnant.

“Terrie, it's time to control your temper. I'm doing this for your own good.”

The footsteps faded away, he and Freida hugged each other under the eaves and looked in my direction.

Freida delicately hid in his arms, her voice aggrieved, “Calvin, Terrie doesn't seem to be pretending. Are we being too harsh on her?

“After all, she is your fiancée. If the Williams Family knew about this…"

Calvin's face turned cold as he interrupted, “I have worked hard for so many years and I don't have to look at the Williams Family's face.

“She was the one who was being unreasonable first. You still have eight months to give birth. You can't let her bully you everywhere. She must change her temper.”

Freida's eyes flashed with pride and then quickly replaced with an innocent expression.

“I heard that there is no love in the marriages between wealthy families. Is it the same for you and Terrie?”

The rainstorm fell mercilessly, washing my pale face again and again.
