Chapter 4

After that day, Chad never reached out to me again, nor did he ever come to see me.

In his mind, I must have been throwing a tantrum. That soon, like so many times before, I would swallow my hurt. And once I healed, I would willingly serve as Yelena's maid.

He even began posting more frequently on the pack's intranet, flaunting his intimacy with Yelena. There were photos of them picking out a cradle for their pup and decorating the nursery together.

I scrolled past the images with a blank expression, feeling nothing. What did any of this have to do with me anymore? Nothing. So, I ignored it all.

Outside, the Alpha King's guards had already been waiting for some time. The moment they saw me, they bowed in perfect unison, their gesture wordlessly conveying the highest respect for me as the future Luna Queen.

I never once looked back. Under their escort, I boarded the vehicle bound for Crescora.

Inside, I blocked all of Chad and Maddox's contacts, then snapped my SIM card in half and tossed it out the window.

From that moment on, I cut all ties with the past.

Meanwhile, outside the pack's treatment room, Chad felt a sudden pang of unease. Maybe it was because Yelena had been so frightened by the energy surge a few days ago that she went into labor early. That had to be why he was feeling anxious.

Every time he thought about the soon-to-be-born pup with Alpha bloodline destined to inherit everything from him, Chad felt deeply contented. He had often thought to himself how fortunate it was that he had corrected that mistake.

A vicious thief like me was never worthy of bearing his heir.

While pacing anxiously nearby, Maddox muttered under his breath, "It's been days now, and Tessa still hasn't recovered from such a minor injury? She's putting on way too many airs!

"Yelena's about to give birth, and yet Tessa dares to slack off instead of taking care of her? She's being absolutely ridiculous!"

Chad's expression darkened as he recalled the final moment of their last call with irritation. When he had used banishment as his ultimate threat, not only didn't I cry or beg, but I had calmly said, "Fine."

It was a kind of cold indifference, unlike anything he had ever encountered, one that treated him as if he didn't even exist.

How dare I? Did I really think that just because my mind force was still useful to the pack, I could act with impunity? Once Yelena safely delivered the strongest heir, he would make sure I paid dearly for my insolence!

With that thought, he dialed my phone, only to realize I had already blocked him. Beside him, Maddox tried calling as well and discovered that he, too, had been blocked.

"That damn crazy she-wolf!" Maddox cursed and fumbled to contact someone else.

At that moment, the treatment room door opened, and the healer emerged, dripping with sweat.

"The pup is here! The pup is here!" she shouted.

Chad and Maddox immediately rushed forward with excitement.

"How's the pup? Is it with Alpha bloodline?" Chad asked.

But the healer's expression was strangely contorted, and there was even a tinge of fear.

"I-It's a very healthy Omega pup," she stammered.

"What?"

Chad and Maddox stood frozen, as if struck by lightning.

"No, that's impossible. This can't be," Chad muttered in a daze.

As if trying to convince himself, he shoved the healer aside and tried to rush in to see with his own eyes.

But the healer stopped him, her face drained of color as she said in a trembling voice, "The moment we confirmed the pup was only an Omega, I immediately notified Mr. and Mrs. Gibson."

No sooner had she spoken than an immense pressure filled the entire treatment room. Chad's parents had rushed back from the border at full speed.

"You bastard!" Dwight Gibson thundered, his rage erupting as he struck Chad hard across the face. "How dare you defy the Seer's prophecy? You idiot—you nearly destroyed the future of our pack! Now go and bring Tessa here at once."

Chad was stunned. Dwight's words, together with the revelation of the Omega pup, shattered the beliefs he had clung to for so many years.

So, the prophecy was real. I had been right all along. I was the true future Luna who could bring hope to the pack.

His whole body trembled as remorse and dread consumed him. He had to find me, no matter what!

But just as he turned to rush out, a guard draped in the silver insignia of the royal house appeared at the doorway like a phantom.

The guard's gaze swept across everyone present before finally settling on Chad.

Then, in a calm voice devoid of emotion, he announced, "Luna Queen Tessa has already departed for Crescora with the Alpha King's wedding convoy. She sent me here to reclaim the wolf fang pendant she once gave you as a token of your mating arrangement."
