Chapter 3

My dad opened his mouth and said nothing.

He glanced at Clay.

Clay sat on a stool, looking like he was doing this for my own good. "If you don't have money, then get married.

"Mr. Harris's son is interested in you. He promised to give three hundred thousand dollars as the engagement gift. He did it because you are a college graduate."

This is outrageous. Will they not be satisfied only if they make use of me?

"I really have great value, three hundred thousand dollars!

"Why don't you get married? Mrs. Watson's retarded daughter is interested in you too!"

Clay pretended to hit me. "You!"

I looked at him with a sneer, what a despicable man!

He finally didn't hit me and said to me.

"You will go on the blind date tomorrow, get engaged quickly, and give me the engagement gift."

After saying that, he pushed me into the room without saying anything and planned to take me to the date the next day.

I looked at the closed door and thought that if I didn't stop this marriage, my life would have been in vain!

With a plan in mind, I lay peacefully in bed and fell asleep.

The next day, without waiting for them to urge me, I took a shower and put on makeup.

I looked at myself in the mirror. Wonderful!

I wore heavy makeup and didn't look like someone who could live a normal life.

Clay took me to Mr. Harris's house.

Mr. Harris's son was sitting opposite me, and he was a little stunned to see me.

"You are Yara Ford, right? Are you a college graduate?

"You must give birth to a son. You can only marry into our family after you give birth to a son. Also, you look good like this, but I like women who know how to live a normal life, so you should wear less makeup in the future."

I waited for him to finish, then slowly said, "I can't have children."

His expression changed.

"Can't have children? Then why did you come to me if you can't have children? Did your family lie to me?"

I curled my hair out of boredom. "Yes, I fell into a river when I was a kid and got hurt. So I can't have children."

His face turned from red to white then darkened.

After a while, he got up and went out angrily.

I went out only after I heard the quarrel outside die down, and saw that there was no one outside.

They just dumped me here!

Chapter 4

I took a taxi back home. Clay was sitting on the sofa with my parents sitting next to him.

I laughed out loud. "Why are you all sitting here? Waiting for me?"

"Useless! What's the point of raising you to this age? If you can't even have children, what's the point of you living?"

I curled my lips and said, "You didn't forget, did you? You were the one who pushed me into the river."

That's right. When I was a kid, Clay lied to me and said there was something in the river and asked me to take a look.

Then he pushed me into the river. He stood on the shore and laughed at me as I struggled desperately.

It was quite some time before someone pulled me out.

Clay was a little discouraged by my words. "Then what should I do?"

Finally! He took the bait!

I said, "Don't we still have our house? Isn't it more expensive than me?

"The last time I passed by an agency, the listing price was over one million."

Weren't you guys short of money? Once you sold this house, it would be enough.

My mother was the first to realize. "No, your father and I worked hard and saved for half our lives to buy this house! Where will we live if you sell it?"

Although my mother was saying that, I knew that Clay had been taken the interest.

I decided to add fuel. "One house is nothing. When Clay makes money, he can buy four or five houses! The benefits are all in the risk. Since Mr. Gray is so good at making money, if you invest in one house, you may get a big villa in return!

"Just think about it, that's villas and sports cars! So many people can't afford it even if they work hard all their lives. No effort, no gain!

"Think about it seriously. Instead of marrying me off for such a small amount of money, why don't take a chance?"

I sat quietly without saying anything else. Clay was interested.

I just needed to wait for Clay to convince my parents.

This possibility was 100%.

My parents had always favored Clay, not to mention that they had already seen early benefits from him.

Those two people who were selfish and always wanted to get something for nothing would definitely agree.

There was no such thing as a free lunch! What you think is a free lunch is just a trap set by others for you.

You hated me for blocking your path to fortune in the previous life, so I repay you in this life.

I wondered how rich you could be!

I didn't go to work and took a long vacation to wait at home.

Sure enough, I didn't have to wait long before they left the house.

They left in the morning and came back in the evening.

The three of them had smug looks on their faces and were talking and laughing all the way.

"Son, I really think we can make a lot of money this time! Look at Mr. Gray, successful people are different! They have style!"

There was a strong sense of envy in my father's voice.

Clay said with disdain, "Once we make money, we'll also dress like that! I'll buy you a big villa and a luxury car! You just enjoy the rest of your life. You can have everything you want, and then you can go traveling abroad. Isn't it wonderful?"

"Yes, so wonderful! Just thinking about it makes me feel good. My son is so great! Look at your sister, she's a college graduate! But she's useless, she's worked for so many years, but she hasn't even saved any money!"

My mother said I was worthless, and Clay sneered. "Look at her attitude before, she even told me to be a good son-in-law! She is old enough and still not getting married, people all laugh at her."

I was silent, I almost wanted to laugh.

I live frugally, saved money and sent money home every month.

But in the end, they said I was ungrateful. And they even covered up for Clay after he killed me.

And Clay? He was a middle-aged fat man who couldn't even get into college. And he still hadn't found a wife.

You deserve it!

You deserve to be cheated!

I rubbed my eyes and pretended to have just woken up, walked out of the room, and looked at the three people sitting on the sofa.

"Where did you go?"

Chapter 5

Clay was delighted. "It's done!"

"Ah? What's done?"

"Mr. Gray's investment, just wait and see. I'll be rich in a few days! And I won't even look at those gold-digging women!"

I snorted in my heart, how shameless. You look down on them?

Someone who went out for a date and asked the girl to go for a walk on the street in the scorching heat of over 30 degrees. Someone who bought a cup of Starbucks and paid in Dutch treat with the girl.

I wouldn't be interested in you either if it were me! Stingy man!

My mother said, "The agent said we have to move out of this house before the day after tomorrow. Where can we live in such a hurry?"

After hearing what my mother said, everyone looked worried.

Clay suddenly looked at me and said, "Yara, have you bought a house?"

It came down on me like a bolt from the blue, leaving me completely stunned.

I did buy it. I bought it secretly and didn't even tell my colleagues.

How did he know?

My parents looked at me and asked, "Have you bought a house?"

I quickly calmed down and pretended to know nothing. "What? I bought a house? When did I buy it? How come I didn't know?"

"That's not right. Then why did you look for the construction team? I just remembered that I have a friend who works in construction and saw you look for the construction team to renovate. Didn't you buy it?"

My parents stared at me intently.

I smiled and said, "You mean that house? That belongs to my colleague. I helped her find the construction team. She just bought a house and asked me to help her."

"How can I afford to buy a house? It's so expensive. I'm still living in a rental house now!"

My mother was relieved to hear me say that, and she held my hand and said, "If you want to buy a house, you have to discuss it with us. After all, it's a big deal."

My parents were busy renting the house and moving those days.

One night, three of them sneaked out and didn't come back until a long time later.

The three of them came back beaming with joy.

I could guess it without them telling me. The so-called Mr. Gray gave them dividends.

I curled the corners of my mouth, that was great.
