Chapter 3
I went back to my parents' home.
Seeing the slap mark on my face, my parents and my eldest sister were so angry that they wanted to go and settle accounts with George.
I looked at them, laughing and crying at the same time.
In the past life, they had gone grey with worry over my pregnancy.
My sister even snuck me to a clinic for an abortion.
Unfortunately, I still died before them.
This life, I would take good care of them until their final days.
I stayed at home for more than half a month.
One day at lunchtime, the light screen appeared again.
[The male lead and the female lead are coming to settle accounts with the cannon fodder.]
[The male lead even invited the head of the cannon fodder's department. She's in trouble this time. Hahaha.]
My eyes narrowed.
Sure enough, there was soon a knock on my door.
George and Cheryl stood in the doorway holding gifts. A large group of people followed behind them, including my boss, who looked at me with disapproval.
George handed the gifts to my parents. "Mr. and Mrs. Carlos, I've come to take Lena home."
My parents scoffed and did not take the gifts.
His face turned gloomy for a moment before quickly returning to a smile as he looked at me. "Lena, I know my mistake. Come home with me."
Standing beside him, Cheryl said pitifully, "Lena, nothing's going on between George and me."
I sneered. "You two know best whether anything is going on between you."
I glanced at Cheryl's flat belly. It had been over two weeks. Her pregnancy should be detectable by now.
Cheryl burst into tears. "Lena, are you trying to kill me? I'm innocent. How am I supposed to live now?"
I laughed mockingly. "Someone as shameless as you can live however you want. Besides, you're supposedly innocent? You might even be pregnant right now!"
These words caused an uproar in the crowd.
My mother's face turned ashen. She grabbed me. "Do you know something?"
I raised an eyebrow and gazed at Cheryl's stomach.
Cheryl was deathly pale as if she were about to faint. George supported her, glaring at me with a gloomy expression. "Lena, have you had enough?"
I retorted without backing down, "Yes! Go ahead and have someone examine right now! Do you dare?"
George pointed at me, speechless.
My boss coughed lightly, looking at me and saying, "Lena, you can't just spout nonsense..."
Before I could speak, a voice interrupted my boss even faster than I could.
Cheryl's face contorted with indignation as she rolled up her sleeves and sobbed, "Fine! Let someone examine me."
She paused and added, "But if they find me completely innocent, you'll have to go home with George."
I stared at Cheryl doubtfully.
The comments section was filled with nothing useful, just a bunch of like emojis.
After a long pause, I hesitantly nodded. "Okay."
In the clinic next door, the small hallway was silent; everyone looked up at the doctor who had been asked to come down from upstairs.
The old doctor stroked his beard, furrowed his brow in contemplation for a moment after the examination, then suddenly exclaimed, "Nonsense!"
My heart skipped a beat, and I heard him adding, "She's not pregnant at all."
I turned abruptly to look at Cheryl; her smugness was almost overflowing.
My boss frowned as he looked at me disapprovingly. "Lena, you're a bit too paranoid."
The light screen slid rapidly.
[Luckily, the female lead had a deal with the system, or everything would have been exposed.]
[Yeah, that was close. Too bad the system needs to hibernate for a while.]
My fingernails dug hard into my palm, my heart pounding.
Cheryl walked up to me, took my hand, and placed it in George's. "Okay, Lena, everything's clear now. I don't blame you. Go home with George."
I lowered my gaze and bit down hard on my lips, thinking, 'Is there really no way to deal with Cheryl?'
I went home with George but locked him out of the master bedroom.
His face almost got hit by the door, and he angrily pounded on it. "Lena, just wait and see!"
I lay on the bed indignantly, touching the letter of introduction in my inner pocket.
Luckily, I had the letter of introduction and train tickets bought. If all else failed, I could just run away in a few days.
While deep in thought, I drifted off to sleep.
Suddenly, a foul stench filled my nostrils.
My body was pinned tightly to the bed. I opened my eyes and struggled desperately.
However, that person buried their face in my neck, covering my mouth and tearing at my clothes. "Scream, scream all you want. No one will save you."
I stared with wide eyes at the light screen above me.
[The female lead is really ruthless to let someone else rape the cannon fodder.]
[Yeah, after being raped, she will be ashamed to leave the male lead and will obediently give birth.]
'Cheryl! George! I'll never forgive you!' I wondered as tears streamed down my face. Struggling, I desperately tried to gouge the person's eyes.
The man screamed, shook my hand away, and slapped me hard. "You b*tch, you're asking for trouble, aren't you?"
My head was spinning for a while after the slap, and I lay motionless on the bed.
The man scoffed and impatiently bent over to unbuckle his belt.
I took this opportunity to kick him hard in the groin.
He hunched over in pain yet still reached out to grab me.
Overwhelmed by anger and fear, I trembled. The experiences of my two lives finally overwhelmed me. I grabbed a pair of scissors from the nearby cabinet. My hair was disheveled as I stabbed him with all my might. "Die! Die! All of you die!"
When I regained consciousness, the man was already lying motionless on the floor.
Just then, the door opened.
"George, don't worry. I'll talk to Lena again."
A few seconds later, Cheryl's scream pierced the air. She looked at me as if she had seen a ghost. "You've murdered someone."
