Chapter 1

It was the sixth anniversary of my and Jonathan Holt’s marriage.

But instead of the usual white roses, yellow roses were prepared for this special day.

Because of this, I had a big fight with Jonathan.

"Wendy, can you stop fussing around? What do you want to do with white roses? To prove your virginity? But that's non-existent!"

After saying that, Jonathan slammed the door angrily and left. He didn't come home all night.

Late at night, Jonathan's childhood sweetheart, Margaret Lindsay, called me and apologized in tears.

"Wendy, I'm sorry. I remembered your preferences wrongly. Please don't get angry with Jon, OK?"

Almost at the same time, she secretly updated a new post on her social media platform.

It said, "Red rose stands for the passionate and unrestrained love! The more someone lacks something, the more they want to prove that they have it! Can white roses prove your purity? Haha..."

The attached photo was a large bunch of fiery red roses with a blurry profile of Jonathan in the background.

"I want a divorce!"

When I saw Jonathan again, it was already a month later.

With the help of his childhood sweetheart, Margaret, and the driver, Jonathan returned home drunk and then lay on the sofa.

Margaret had gorgeous makeup. After entering the house in her high-heeled shoes, she looked around with her picky eyes.

Then, she said, "Wendy, aren't you a housewife? Why don't you even clean up the house?

"Didn't you see that Jonathan is feeling terrible? Go and make some soup for him now.

"Remember, Jon doesn't like sour food!"

Margaret was bossy. She acted as if she was the hostess of this house, and I was just a servant that she could order around.

I said to her, "The kitchen is over there. Make yourself at home!

"Oh, by the way, the guest bedroom is over there. There are children at home, so remember to keep your door closed!"

Then, I picked up Celia and closed the bedroom door, keeping Margaret and Jonathan out of my sight.

Celia asked me, "Mom, are you in a bad mood?"

She snuggled up in my arms and patted me with her small hand.

"Mom, even if Ivan is not here, I will always be with you. Don't be sad!"

After Celia fell asleep, I noticed that there was no sound outside.

I opened the door and went out, finding that Margaret had already left.

But Jonathan was still lying on the sofa. He squinted at me and began to groan.

"Honey, I don't feel well... My head aches..."

If it were in the past, I would fetch a wet towel to wipe his face, massage his head gently, and tenderly help him change into comfortable pajamas...

But now, I just stood there and looked at him coldly.

Seeing that I hadn't moved for a long time, Jonathan stopped humming, rubbed his eyebrows, and sat up.

He fumbled in his bag for a while, then took out a green box, and handed it to me.

"It's for you. Open it and see if you like it or not. It's just an anniversary. It won't be our last anniversary," he said.

But I knew he was wrong. This was their last anniversary.

Jonathan continued, "I'm the only one who can stand your bad temper. If it were anyone else, they would have divorced you long ago."

I looked at the La Mer Skincare Set in his hand quietly and felt very angry in my heart.

"Did Margaret ask you to buy it?" I asked.

Jonathan raised the corner of his mouth, and his eyes subconsciously became gentle.

"Of course. I don't have other female friends who know these things."

After saying so, he raised his head as if he was waiting for my affirmation and gratitude.

However, I just coldly slapped the box to the ground. I felt like I almost couldn't suppress the rage in my heart.

On my birthday two months ago, it was raining heavily, and Jonathan hadn't come home yet.

As soon as Celia fell asleep, I got a call from Jonathan's number. But on the other end of the line, it was Margaret.

"Wendy, Mr. Holt is drunk, but he keeps calling your name. Please come and pick him up."

I left Celia at home and rushed to the restaurant in the heavy rain.

The moment I pushed the door open, a burst of laughter erupted from inside. Jonathan sat in the main seat, and he was not drunk at all.

He put his right hand on the back of Margaret's chair, making it look like he was holding her in his arms.

"Wendy, you're here so quickly. It seems that your wife cares about you very much, Mr. Holt!"

Margaret said so as she gave Jonathan a light and coquettish punch. Then, she stood up, walked to me, and smoothed the wet hair on my forehead.

She said, "Jon, although I'm curious about how strict she is with you, there's no need for you to call her over in such a hurry. Look at how heavy the rain is outside. She is soaked."

Everyone's eyes were fixed on me.

I left home in a hurry. Now, my pajamas were tightly stuck to my body because of the heavy rain.

In the bright and reflective wall, I saw that my messy hair was stuck to my scalp, and it was still dripping. I was in a mess.

Margaret was wearing high heels. Her hair was tied up meticulously, and even her makeup was new.

When Jonathan saw me, he frowned, and his eyes were full of disgust.

I stared at him and asked, "Do you want to go back now?"

Before Jonathan could say anything, Margaret poked me gently with her finger.

She said, "Wendy, come on, don't be so disappointing. It's just a game. Don't be angry with Jon.

"Why don't you sit down and have fun with us for a while?"

Seeing that Jonathan had no intention of getting up, I turned around and walked out.

Margaret followed me out, walking beside me with a smug and contemptuous expression.

"Wendy, you're only one year older than me. Why is your face so sallow? You even have wrinkles around your eyes.

"I'll recommend a set of skincare products to you later. They're very useful!"

Meanwhile, Jonathan came out in a hurry and complained to me as he walked.

"How can you let Celia stay at home alone? Now, the neighbors are complaining in the chat group that the child's crying is disturbing."

Hearing this, I immediately forgot about Margaret's sarcasm and hurried home.

Celia's face was full of tears, and her voice was hoarse. Her small body trembled as she hugged my neck tightly.

"Mom, I'm a good girl. Don't abandon me."

Celia's twin brother, Ivan Holt, was taken away by the Holt family long ago. Thus, Celia was always afraid that she would be taken away as well.

When I heard this, my heart ached.

He paced back and forth irritably.

Finally, he said to me, "Looks like you really don't know how to take care of a child. It's fortunate that my mom took Ivan away from you at that time! She can take care of him!"

Chapter 2

"Jonathan, you knew that there were only Celia and me at home, but you still called me out. Didn't you know that Margaret just wanted to embarrass me?" I asked Jonathan angrily.

A trace of guilt flashed across Jonathan's face.

He explained, "She's still young. She didn't know what she was doing. Besides, it's her birthday today. Don't hold it against her, OK?"

But I said to him, "Jonathan, you remember that today is her birthday. Then do you remember today is also my birthday?

"Why she can be treated like a princess while I have to be humiliated by you like this?"

When Jonathan heard this, a blank look appeared on his face, and then he became guilty.

He stepped forward and hugged me and Celia. "I'm sorry. It won't happen again!

"Let's celebrate your birthday again tomorrow, OK? Honey?"

Later, we both never mentioned that matter again.

However, I could never forget it. As time went on, my grievance grew bigger. At this moment, it finally burst out, making me feel extremely painful in my heart.

Now, Jonathan was holding the La Mer Skincare Set that Margaret had given him. I felt like the box was laughing at me, who was a complete fool.

"Jonathan, do you think I'm not as good as Margaret?

"Why did you tell her my personal affairs?"

Jonathan stood up irritably and frowned.

"Can you stop being so unreasonable? I've known Maggie since childhood. She's not as scheming as you think. I worked hard in the company, yet I still have to face your complaints when I get home. I'm so tired..."

Suddenly, I didn't want to argue with him anymore. I felt that it was so boring.

Seeing that I didn't speak for a long time, Jonathan thought that this matter had finally come to an end.

He asked me, "Do you know which school Ivan will go to after he graduates from kindergarten?"

"I don't know!"

Back then, I had twins. However, my son, Ivan, was taken away by the Holt family the moment he was born.

They said that Ivan was the future head of the Holt family, and if they let me raise Ivan, he would eventually become a nobody.

If I hadn't threatened them with my life, they would have taken Celia away too.

From Ivan's birth until now, the number of times I had seen him was less than ten.

Celia grew up by my side. Because of this, the Holt family' also disliked Celia very much.

Jonathan said to me, "Stop being jealous and pay more attention to your son.

"Maggie knows that Ivan is about to attend primary school, and she has even prepared a gift for him. As Ivan's mother, you are really..."

At this moment, I really wanted to ask Jonathan, "Do you think I don't care about my own son?"

In the past few years, I kept blaming myself and being so worried about Ivan that I couldn't sleep all night. As a result, I lost a lot of hair and even suffered from depression.

A few days ago, I went to the Holt's mansion to inquire about Ivan's matter, but they didn't even let me enter.

They said to me, "Ivan is the Harrison family's child. But you're just nobody. He doesn't need your concern."

I went to Ivan's kindergarten to wait for him, but I was dragged out by the Holt family's bodyguards in front of everyone.

In the end, I managed to find a way to let the teacher pass on a message, but Ivan ran out and pointed at my nose.

He yelled at me, "Get lost, you lowly woman! You're not my mother!"

I was the one who gave birth to Ivan. But because of the deliberate connivance of the Holt family, I seemed to have become his enemy.

"Jonathan, let's divorce!"

I sighed softly and said something that I had long wanted to say to him.

Hearing my words, Jonathan looked at me in surprise. After a long while, he looked me up and down and pointed at me.

"You want to divorce me? You?

"Please, Wendy, you're almost 30 years old. You're not an 18-year-old girl. Don't be so childish, OK?

"You have no money and no job. Where else can you go after leaving me?

"I'm very busy every day. I'm really not interested in playing some games with you."

Chapter 3

Jonathan asked, "Tell me, how much do you want this time? A thousand? Or two thousand?"

The next moment, my phone beeped.

Jonathan transferred 1,500 dollars to me, which made me feel really humiliated.

Before we got married, I had a job with a monthly salary of more than a thousand dollars.

However, the Holt family would only agree to let me marry Jonathan if I quit my job and became a full-time housewife.

At that time, Jonathan said to me, "Wendy, I'll be with you for the rest of my life. For our future, you'll have to compromise this time!"

It had only been a few years. Now, every time I asked him for living expenses, I was like a beggar.

Jonathan became more and more impatient. "Didn't I just give you 1,500 dollars a few days ago? You've already spent them all?"

1,500 dollars had to cover Jonathan's high-quality daily meals and some extra-curricular classes for Celia. It was not enough at all.

As for me, I hadn't bought new clothes or expensive cosmetics for myself for a long time.

Perhaps in Jonathan's eyes, I was not even worth 1,500 dollars.

Jonathan kept saying impatiently, "You're making all this trouble just for money, aren't you? I've given you the money. Now, can you stop?"

Hearing this, I couldn't hold back my anger anymore. I picked up the doll on the sofa and threw it at him hard.

"Jonathan, you bastard!

"I want to divorce you! Nothing can change my mind!"

But Jonathan just stood there and looked at me coldly. It was as if he was looking at a kid who was being unreasonable.

"Wendy, that's enough. I won't always tolerate you like this!"

After saying so, Jonathan picked up his clothes, walked out of the house, and slammed the door.

That night, Celia had a fever. Her whole body was burning hot, her eyes rolled up, and her body was twitching.

I kept calling her name, but she didn't respond.

I panicked. Trembling, I took out my phone and called Jonathan, but he didn't answer my call, not even once.

I made an emergency call, but the system told me that I had to wait in line.

I couldn't wait any longer, neither could Celia. So, I picked up Celia and rushed out.

It was early in the morning, and there were very few taxis on the road. I hailed several times, but none of them stopped.

When I wanted to get a taxi with my phone, I found that it had run out of battery.

At that moment, I really felt desperate. I held Celia in my arms and ran to the hospital. On the way, I kept waving my arms, hoping to stop a car.

When it rained, it poured. In a panic, I accidentally tripped and fell.

The moment I fell, in order to protect Celia, I turned my body. As a result, my back rubbed against the ground, and I felt a burning pain on my back.

Fortunately, there was finally a car parked next to us.

After we arrived at the hospital, Celia was pushed into the emergency room.

The next moment, I collapsed to the ground and began to regret being a full-time housewife.

If I had a job, I would have the ability to get a driver's license and buy a car, and I wouldn't have been so helpless tonight.

If anything happened to Celia because of the delay, I would never forgive myself for the rest of my life.

Fortunately, after the treatment, Celia was saved.

The kind-hearted man who had sent us here stood in front of me and pointed at my feet.

Only then did I realize that I had lost my slippers somewhere on the way. The soles of my feet had been scratched by the rough road and had many small wounds.

There were also bruises on my back, which were very serious.

The doctor said that Celia had acute pneumonia and had to stay in the hospital for a few more days.

The next day, I received a call from Jonathan, and he sounded a little annoyed.

"Where did you go? It's early in the morning! Why didn't you wash and iron my shirt yesterday?

"What are you doing at home all day..."

I interrupted his endless complaints.

I said, "Jonathan, Celia is sick. I'm in the hospital with her."

Jonathan was stunned and asked casually, "What's wrong with Celia?"

"Acute pneumonia!" I answered.

Hearing this, Jonathan did not show his concern for Celia, nor did he ask if I was frightened.

Instead, he sneered, "Wendy, you can't even take care of a child. You cause trouble every few days!

"If you can't be a good mother, I'll send Celia back to the Holt's mansion tomorrow!"

"No!"

Back then, my son was taken away by the Holt family right after he was born, and I suffered from severe postnatal depression. If it weren't for that Celia was still with me, I wouldn't have lived until today.

I had already lost my son. I couldn't lose Celia.

I couldn't help wondering how things between Jonathan and me had become like this.

In the past, even if I coughed slightly, he would nervously ask me if I had caught a cold.

But now, since he didn't ask, I didn't complain about anything.

I came out in a hurry last night and didn't bring anything with me. Thus, the next evening, after I settled Celia, I went back home to pack up some of my and Celia's personal belongings.

On the way, I suddenly saw a familiar figure.

Without hesitation, I followed him into a hotel and got into the elevator.

At that moment, I did not know what kind of result I wanted.

Out of the elevator, at the end of the corridor, Jonathan was hugging and kissing a woman. He unbuttoned his shirt as he walked, and it looked like he really couldn't wait to have sex with that woman.

Suddenly, the woman leaned back and asked Jonathan with a smile.

"Which one do you like more? Having sex with me or with Wendy?"

Jonathan moved closer again.

He mumbled, "How can she even be comparable to you? Look at her sallow face when she's not wearing any makeup. I'm not interested in her at all."

The two of them began to kiss each other again and fell into bed before the door closed.

Standing at the door, I could hear the noise coming from inside the room.

I thought I would be sad, but unexpectedly, I didn't have any thoughts about it. I just picked up my mobile phone and began to record all this.

I walked in step by step. High heels, clothes, skirts, and underwear scattered all the way from the door to the bed...

I could imagine how passionate they were.

On the bed, the two people overlapped, making me feel sick and disgusted.

It took them a long time to realize that I was standing at the door.

The moment Jonathan saw me, he subconsciously hid Margaret behind him.

He blurted, "Ah... Wendy, why are you here?"
