Chapter 4
Hana's POV
I walked nervously towards the guest room the woman asked me to. Standing before the door, I knocked and heard a deep, domineering voice answer.
“Come in!”
I opened the door and walked in to see the lycan king seated, I paused, right away nervousness sealed my body. Merely looking at his beautiful face took my breath away, but his cold eyes glaring at me made me reconsider my fate.
King Leonardo was tall and perfectly muscular in stature, his broad chest and arms strained against his tight shirt. His feet stamped the ground in his black pair of trousers with authority. He was the definition of a perfect work of art, an ace of beauty. My gaze lingered on him for a few seconds before I quickly looked down, not daring to meet his gaze again.
“Damn I don't dare to look at him but I can't bear looking away.” I said to myself.
“What's going on?” I asked my wolf who was getting super excited right now.
“You sent for me, your highness.” I asked in a respectful tone, curtseying. Alpha Calvin was sitting in the opposite direction with his hand draped over Maribel. They looked with pride.
“Well, I came to take you to be my mate. A prophecy was made that I should pick a mate from none other than Lenin Pack and I came down here to meet with its Alpha for negotiations on a mate to pick.” He paused and took a quick breath, then popped out his eyes, saying with all authority.
“I'm going home with you because–”
My heart was thumping so hard. I wanted to hear what he was going to say next.
“You've been sold to me. I paid the sum of a million dollars on your head. You have to go with me, no refusal.” Saying this, he rose up from the couch.
I turned to Calvin, he made a proud nod. Maribel’s face glowed. Why are they happy now?
“Well, you'll be his slave and serve him all your life,” he chuckled. “It's way better than staying to create enmity between my mate and I.”
Another false accusation from Calvin.
Who knows what he said to the king that would make him offer to buy me when there are a whole lot of young virgins here in the pack. I still couldn't understand what was going on.
“Why did you come all the way from Orleans to get me?” I stammered, my lips refusing to close because I needed an immediate answer.
“I've been crushing on the real Luna of Lenin Pack for a year now, hearing on the news you're sidelined, I came to pick you up.” He whispered into my ear. I turned my face, looking at him all-puzzled but he winked at me smiling at Calvin.
Did he really say something else to Calvin to get me?
I was stunned upon thinking of his real reason for buying me. I tried hard to suppress my blush. I couldn't imagine this but his wink made me know he didn't want Calvin to know his real reason.
“But why? He's the lycan king and the most respected in the entire country?” I questioned my wolf.
“Even though he is the king, Calvin has the right not to sell you because you're still legally married to him even though he no longer wants you. If he wanted taking you openly, it would be by force but he doesn't want to be involved in a scandal.”
“So he has to trick him into buying you.” My wolf replied.
My heart fluttered realizing that Calvin and Maribel both think I would be a sex slave. Even if I was, it would surely be better than being with traitors.
“Your majesty, you can take her now! Do whatever you please with her.” He said to the king.
“You're gonna live with me henceforth, totally submissive to me and myself alone.” He said with so much authority, grabbing my hand.
Prior to the fact that he was gorgeous, I was already crushing on him. I couldn't just go without making Calvin regret his decision of bringing in Maribel.
“I have no plans of returning with you to Orleans anytime soon. I would love to spend some time here in this estate.” I pleaded with him. I prayed deep inside of me that he would accept.
King Leonardo looked at me for a brief moment, then he nodded.
“Alright,” he muttered. I smiled warmly, looking back at Calvin and Maribel who now seemed confused.
We were assigned the special guest house here in the pack house. I would say it's even more luxurious than the apartment I shared with Calvin.
I wanted this, to be with King Leonardo but now we were alone in the room, tension rippled through my chest. I became nervous, avoiding those charming blue eyes of his. I sat at the edge of the bed.
“Are you really shy? Come on, baby. This is the moment I've been waiting for. Now you belong to me.” He shifted close to me, placing his hand on my shoulders.
My hormones were in chaos feeling him close to me, his scent washing deeply over me. My core clenched and the next moment I was ready to give myself totally to him, until one thought came to mind.
“Your majesty, I thought you once had a woman you were engaged to?” I thought well to ask.
“Can you show me around this pack house?” He switched the topic, silencing me.
“Hmm, okay your majesty.”:I couldn't refuse.
We left the room to conduct a short tour around the massive estate as he wanted, even though he became so immersed in the beauty of the environment and was praising it, my mind wasn't here. I wanted to know about the woman he introduced on live TV three months ago as his potential queen.
Minutes later, he handed over his phone to me. “Let me quickly use the toilet.” His body language explained how serious it was and he needed to leave immediately.
I wondered if he even knew where it was or if he had used it way coming here. Perhaps he had a running stomach or something.
I grabbed his phone, adoring its luxury when the screen came up. A message here.
Gahlia Rovlin.
“Hello Leonardo, I'm sorry for texting you today. You asked me to disappear from public life and your private life upon our breakup until you found a suitable time to break the news to the media.”
“But–”
My nerves stiffened watching the typing notification come up with the next message she was going to send. My eyes popped out wide.
“The doctor declared three months pregnant upon feeling ill and having to visit the hospital in my hometown.”
“The baby is yours because after we parted, I never had sex with any man. I'll be visiting the palace tomorrow, so we can sort things out.”
My lips quivered and my spirit was almost gone when I felt a tap on my shoulder from behind. “What's that?” Leonardo’s voice came up from behind me. I shrieked as I turned to see him staring at me.
I handed over the phone to him, feeling my heart torn a billion pieces. I thought I'd grabbed a perfect mate, a king and a potential husband.
Why will his ex come at this moment? Now, how will they sort this out when he had already confessed how he's been desiring me for a long time?
Chapter 5
My heart hasn’t stopped aching since I saw that text.
Why? Why me? I just lost Calvin, and now when I thought I had someone better I lost him even before he became mine.
“Hana, baby everything will be fine. I am not planning on letting you go.” Leonardo leans over to my seat in the airplane as his fingers stretched out to brush a strand of my hair.
I really wanted to believe him, but I couldn’t not after what Calvin did. What if he decided he wanted an heir I couldn’t provide then he would leave me again.
I couldn’t do that to myself twice.
I turned away from him, refusing to look or stare at him no matter what he did.
I couldn't get hurt twice.
The rest of the ride to Orleans was quiet, I didn't like it but I didn’t dare do a thing about it.
We arrived at Orleans earlier than expected, thanks to the moon goddess.
I couldn’t survive any more second with him that close to me.
“Do you need anything?” he asked, slowly brushing his fingers across my waist as he steered me through the crowds of people.
“No.” I forced my voice to be hard, and cold.
I was his slave, I couldn't be rude to my master even if the said master was crushing on me.
“I hope you know she isn’t coming here because she loves me.” he said once we had settled into the car that would be driven to the pack house.
I perk up at the revelation feeling both relief, and confusion.
“So why is she here then?” I grumble under my breath, wishing that I would close my eyes, and it would all be okay.
“She wants the influence that comes with being the Alpha luna. Her parents alongside mine also want this for the benefits.” he murmured, trumping to me again.
“Please Hana, don't give up on me, don't give up on us please.” he pleaded with the most sincere looks I have ever seen.
“But everyone hates me, and they haven’t even seen me yet.” I exclamate, tears blurring my vision.
It hurts so bad that I am being rejected everywhere I go, even if I haven't done anything.
“My parents are only invested in this because they feel she is pregnant, and me getting married to her is better.” he grumbled, tugging at the helm of his shirt.
“Isn't it? I can't get pregnant, you most definitely need an heir.” the tears made my voice shaky, I moved my trembling fingers to wipe off the tears.
He chuckles, his beautiful dimples popping out as he caresses my face, “You aren't barren, you were barely married for a year.” he snorted, rolling his eyes like me being barren is the most ridiculous idea ever.
My heart warms, at least he cares.
He suddenly sits up, his eyes lit up with mischief, “You know what fuck them. They can wait, let's go have fun.” he suggested, telling the driver to turn around.
My eyes widen like that of a saucer, “What are you doing, Leonardo? We have to get back to your home.” I whispered, an involuntary smile tainting my lips.
“It's your home too, and they can all wait. You come first.” he murmured, placing his lips on my forehead.
I sighed in relief, some part of me satisfied that he would put them on hold for me.
The other part kept on wondering if he would still be like this after a few months or after his first child was born.
But, a kiss from him made me momentarily forget my problems even existed as we rode to the park.
“We aren't kids, Leonardo. Why the park?” I whined, pouting childishly.
He smiled, his voice gruff and as he spoke, “Because I knew it would bring out your inner child. Besides, the park is always fun, come on.”
He stepped out, and opened the car door for me. We played so much at the park, it was amazing. But as night drew we had to leave, and go face reality.
One that was a total nightmare for me.
We finally drove back to the pack house. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The building was so large it had about fifty rooms or more.
Painted in white, and gold. The living room had a huge chandelier that looked like it would fall, and break at the slightest touch.
On getting to the pack house, Gahlia had already returned. The whole pack adored her while I was cast away.
Leonardo’s mother most especially hated me for reasons I could not fathom.
Leonardo had a meeting so I decided to take a walk to clear my head, and think of a way to win the people's heart.
The hall was quiet as I headed to the one place I knew always held peace, the garden.
“Have you heard?”
“No, heard what?”
“That she is infertile because she has had so many abortions.”
“Oh my goodness!!! Are you sure?”
“Of course. Deleany had told me that our Alpha’s mother told him, and even showed her proof from her previous doctors.”
What!!! My steps faltered in the hall as I heard maids talk about me like a disease.
“She can't be our Luna.”
“No way. Luna Gahlia is better, after all she is carrying Alpha's child.”
I couldn't stand there anymore, I came out of my hiding place, and rushed past them. Looks of disgust, and hate was thrown at me as I walked.
Tears blurred my vision, rolling down my eyes uncontrollably as I moved with my head ducked down in shame.
I didn't deserve this. Why would she tell such lies? Did she hate me that much?
Of course she did.
My steps faltered for the second time as I heard a familiar voice, “Yes, this pregnancy is a plan to ruin them.”
What!!!! My eyes widened in shock as my body involuntarily leaned in to hear more.
