Chapter 2

Before we could fully recover from the surprise of being reborn, my phone rang.

It was a video message from Ana Stephens, my best friend who was interning at the same company as Elvira.

In the video, just like in our previous life, Elvira went berserk and started smashing Carl's car with a brick.

Ana was shocked. [Holy crap, is Elvira crazy? That's a Maybach!]

Before I could reply, Ana sent me several more videos.

Under the hits, the sleek car body caved in.

But Carl didn't show up.

Soon, Elvira struggled as she was taken away by the police informed by the security guards.

She stomped her feet in anger. "I want to see Carl. Tell him to come and see me."

The police ignored her and got her into the car.

The person she mentioned, Carl, not only shared the same name as her favorite novel's male lead but was also the heir to the Ortega family.

He was the perfect domineering CEO she had been waiting for.

However, after interning at the company for two months, she didn't even have a chance to see Carl. So, she came up with the idea of smashing the car to make Carl remember her.

But Carl's legal team wasn't for show.

He handed the matter over to his lawyers.

Just like in our last life, Elvira was sued.

But she remained calm.

When she returned from the police station, she was glowing and humming a song, not troubled at all.

My parents and I exchanged a glance, speechless.

As soon as she got home, Elvira received a notice that she had been dismissed by the company.

She angrily smashed her phone. "This damn company won't do, who do they think they are? Just wait until I become Carl's wife, then you'll see."

At the same time, Carl's lawsuit letter arrived at our house, along with the assessment report for the car damage.

Her ridiculous actions cost us 800 thousand dollars.

In our last life, my parents had used up their savings and borrowed around to pay off this debt.

But Elvira was not deterred, arguing that Carl would never make her repay. She believed that it was a ploy to keep her hanging.

So, when Elvira received the lawsuit letter this time, she indignantly declared, "Mom, Dad, you don't need to worry about this matter. I will handle it myself."

Our dad gave her a thumbs up, praising, "You are amazing!"

Elvira proudly raised her chin.

"Of course, when I become Mrs. Ortega, 8 million dollars will be nothing, let alone 800 thousand.

"I'm unlike my sister, who only knows how to study all day and will end up working for others. Our family's future depends on me."

I was speechless.

Elvira's way of handling it was to act like the female lead in a romantic drama. She went to stop Carl's car, scolding him with her hands on her hips.

"Just because you're rich, you think you can bully people?

"Who gives you the right to dismiss me? I already knew I was wrong. What more do you want?"

Carl didn't even know who she was, sitting in the car without sparing her a glance.

After ten minutes of confrontation, Carl got impatient and coldly ordered, "Run her over."

If the driver hadn't retained some sense, Elvira would have been seriously injured or worse.

A passerby called an ambulance, and she was taken to the hospital.

When the police arrived, she defended Carl. "We had a little misunderstanding, and he didn't mean it. Don't arrest him."

Everyone present looked at her as if she were crazy.

She was still immersed in her self-righteousness.

Afterwards, Carl still did not show up.

After all, in the eyes of people like them, everything could be settled with money.

It was especially true when dealing with an insignificant crazy woman.

The lawyer had dealt with Elvira and didn't beat around the bush. If she agreed to a settlement, the car smashing incident would be dropped, and he would cover her medical expenses.

In the previous life, Carl had said the same thing.

My mom was overjoyed at the news.

However, Elvira, afraid of ruining her facade as someone who saw money as worthless, flatly refused his offer.

She drove the lawyer out of the ward. "I won't accept his charity. I will pay him back with interest."

Because of her actions, our once comfortable life became burdened with debt, and we struggled.

During her hospital stay, she acted like a spoiled lady, often scolding and throwing things at our mom.

So, in this life, as soon as she was hospitalized, our parents booked the next available flight and hurried off on a trip abroad.

They feared that she would rope them into her troubles.

Unable to find our parents, Elvira could only call me to take care of her.

I was hesitant. "Elvira, you know, I've been busy with my thesis recently. I don't have time."

She roared in anger over the phone, "Daisy, I'm your sister, what's more important, schoolwork or me?"

I laughed. Did she have no sense of priority?

"Of course, schoolwork is more important!"

I hung up the phone.

A few minutes later, Elvira posted on her social media. [No one can be relied on; only oneself is the ultimate support.]

I laughed in exasperation.

In the previous life, we helped her clean up her messes, despite her being unyielding in her actions.

But after her dreams of marrying into a wealthy family were shattered, she blamed all her mistakes on me and our parents before going insane and burning us to death.

In this life, whoever helped her was a fool.

I ignored her post.

Elvira sent over a message. [Daisy, if you come now, I will forgive you. Otherwise, don't expect me to call you sister again.]

I pretended not to see it.

Chapter 3

During her stay in the hospital, Elvira posted sentimental things online every day.

She didn't have many friends, and no one wanted to talk to her.

Her latest post was from yesterday.

It simply read, [I'm discharged.]

But she didn't return home until after our parents' trip ended.

Later, we found out that she had gone to find Carl again.

This time, our parents didn't pay the 800 thousand dollars for the car repairs, and Elvira rejected the lawyer's proposal.

She never intended to pay the money back in the first place.

Instead, she intended to get close to Carl under the pretense of repaying the debt. Her first step was to become his maid.

Unexpectedly, she managed to infiltrate his household.

However, she was kicked out within a week.

She didn't have the quality of a maid at all. She saw herself as the hostess of the house.

On the first day of work, she offended all the servants with her arrogant attitude.

She treated the villa as her own, wearing fancy clothes and drinking wine without permission, and she would stick to Carl whenever she saw him.

She even interfered in his daily meals.

Carl didn't recognize her until she tried to climb into his bed. The bodyguards threw her out of the house.

She refused to leave.

Only then did Carl realize that she was the crazy woman who had smashed his car.

Seeing that no one paid any attention to her, she returned home dejectedly.

After coming back, she would throw tantrums whenever things didn't go her way.

But this time, no one indulged her.

Our parents' indifference pushed her to the brink of collapse.

She vented her anger on me, saying. "You wretch, you must have said something to them for them to treat me like this.

"You're jealous of me, afraid that I'll live better than you, and don't want me to be happy. You evil woman, you don't deserve to be my sister."

Since childhood, I had always taken care of her because I was her elder sister. I never fought with her over the things she liked. She had things that I didn't have.

But I never expected that this was how she felt about me.

I sneered at her with contempt in my eyes. "Jealous of you for what? Your unfounded self-confidence or your stupidity?"

Elvira's appearance could be considered pretty, but she wasn't a stunning beauty that one couldn't forget.

However, people tended to see themselves through rose-tinted glasses.

Elvira was narcissistic and always had an 800-meter-thick filter. Whenever a boy glanced at her, she believed that they liked her.

This led to many embarrassing situations.

My words struck a nerve with her.

Elvira's face contorted in anger. "Who do you think you are? One day, I will make you regret this and beg me."

I shrugged. "Keep dreaming!"

After being reborn, I never thought of doing anything to her in revenge.

I knew that with her brain, she would only end up causing harm to herself.

And that was exactly what happened.

Just after being kicked out, she went running back to Carl.

One day, a senior at our school and I went to work as waitresses at a banquet.

It was the first time I saw Carl after being reborn.

Every time I saw him, I felt uncomfortable.

His eyes were cold and venomous.

He was not a righteous man.

Only a madwoman like Elvira would target him.

And that was why she brought disaster upon herself.

Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a familiar figure.

It was Elvira.

She just wouldn't give up.

I was busy serving drinks to the guests and didn't have time to pay attention to her.

In just a moment, both she and Carl disappeared.

Half an hour later, I hid in the lounge and answered my buzzing phone.

Elvira's hoarse and exhausted voice came through the phone. "Daisy, bring me some clothes to the restroom on the 12th floor of the hotel."

I was taken aback. "Why?"
