Chapter 1

On the day my mom passed away from a heart attack, my husband's secretary and girlfriend stormed into the funeral home with a group of people. They labeled me as a "gold digger."

She used my husband's company's livestream account to cry about her "injustices" and "grievances," garnering a large following. Under the banner of "punishing the gold digger, upholding the rightful wife," they cornered me in a dead-end of the funeral home, hurling insults and humiliation at me. They even knocked over my mom's urn.

When Adam arrived, I threw out the prenuptial agreement.

——

My husband, Adam Jenkins, was a professional General Manager at my family's company. He was also the son-in-law my mom approved of.

Young and promising, he had an unlimited future. My mom said that with him around, I wouldn't have to fight in the business world myself and she could rest in peace.

I held my mom's urn, unable to stop crying. My dearest mom was gone. My mom's passing was a significant event and as her son-in-law, Adam should have helped with the aftermath. But from my mom's passing to the cremation of her body, he was nowhere to be seen.

I called Adam. But after calling him more than a dozen times, he hung up every time. He just sent me a cold text message saying that he was in a meeting. I suppressed my grief and handled the cremation by myself.

I held my mom's urn, feeling drained of all strength. Just as I reached the door, I saw a group of people rushing toward me. They were holding a large banner that read "Punish the gold digger, uphold the rightful wife."

I recognized the leader, it was Adam's secretary, Kelly Basinger. She was holding a video camera, as if she were livestreaming. Could it be her husband was deceived by a woman outside and came out to seek justice?

I had no interaction with her, so I intended to bypass her. But the people behind her surrounded me. I frowned and squinted, "What are you doing?"

Kelly sneered, "You're asking me what I'm doing?" She turned around and looked at the crowd and said, "Everyone, tell her what I want to do."

The crowd looked unfriendly. Someone spoke up, "Are you blind? Can't you see the words on the banner?"

Of course, I saw it, but what did it have to do with me? With my mom's death and the disappearance of Adam, who was a good son-in-law and husband just a week ago, I had no mood to argue with them.

I said indifferently, "You've got the wrong person. Leave now before I call the police."

Kelly sneered, "You seduced my husband and you still dare to talk to me like this? Are all gold diggers so arrogant now?"

Then her gaze shifted to the necklace on my neck. "You say you're not a gold digger who seduced my husband, then what's that on your neck?" she asked.

My neck? It was nothing more than a necklace Adam gave me a few days ago for our wedding anniversary. At that time, Adam apologized for not spending enough time with me and hoped this necklace would make up for it.

Though I didn't want to explain, facing Kelly's aggressive questioning, I slowly opened my mouth, "This was given to me by my husband. It has nothing to do with you."

"That's nonsense! You obviously stole it!" Kelly's harsh tone displeased me.

Seeing I remained unmoved, she pulled out her phone and showed a photo. "Don't want to admit it? Everyone, this is the evidence!"

I glanced at the phone, it was a photo of Kelly wearing the necklace. Adam had told me it was a limited edition, with unique numbers on each one. Mine was lucky number six. The one in the photo looked exactly like mine.

I had a vague idea of the truth, but I still didn't want to believe my suspicions. Seeing my silence, she assumed I was admitting it and shoved the camera into my face, raising her voice a few decibels, "Everyone, this is the bitch who not only seduced my husband but also stole the necklace worth of millions that my husband prepared for me!"

"Spending another man's money and showing off, is it satisfying? How dare you wear it so brazenly!" she accused me. "That was a gift for our first anniversary. Doesn't her conscience hurt?"

First anniversary? Did she mean her and Adam? I shook my head, refusing to think about it. With my mom's ashes not yet buried, I didn't want to waste energy on anything else.

My voice grew colder, "One more time, you have the wrong person. The necklace was given to me by my husband. Now, please move aside!"

Chapter 2

Kelly gritted her teeth viciously, "I see you won't cry until you see the coffin! Look at this! This is my husband's car! Is the person inside you?"

Kelly pulled out another photo. It was the same Maybach, with the same license plate number. It was the new car I had given to Adam. The photo was taken when I was driving to the hospital while my mom was critically ill.

Unexpectedly, Kelly had captured it and was now confronting me as the rightful wife. It was somewhat laughable.

I stared at Kelly, then said, "Is the husband you're talking about was Adam Jenkins? Have you ever thought that you might be the other woman?"

Hearing this, Kelly was immediately infuriated. "You bitch, what nonsense are you spouting? Adam isn't married, I'm his only woman!"

Indeed. Adam had never publicly acknowledged my existence. After all, he cared the most about people saying he was a kept man. He said he wanted to rely on his own abilities to give me the strongest sense of security and asked me to give him time.

I hadn't minded these things before and just let him be. Unexpectedly, this had become a blade for the other woman to attack me.

I looked at Kelly and spoke slowly, "Adam is already married, he just hasn't told you. What, is it hard to accept that you are the gold digger, the other woman?"

Kelly's eyes reddened and tears welled up. She shouted loudly, "Everyone, open your eyes and look! The gold diggers and mistresses nowadays are shamelessly bold now, aren’t they? This is driving us good women, good wives and good mothers to ruin!"

At this point, the helpers she brought were incited by her and began to attack me as a group!

"With solid evidence, she still shamelessly denies it!"

"It's said that gold diggers can stir people's hearts, who knew her tongue was so sharp!"

"Kelly is Mr. Jenkins' official girlfriend, everyone knows that!"

"Even if they're not married yet, you, a gold digger, have no right to interfere."

"Kelly, don't cry, we'll stand up for you!"

"Everyone, let's teach this gold digger a lesson today and vent our anger for Kelly!"

With that, they viciously approached me. Sticks rained down on me one after another. I curled up on the ground in pain, clutching my mom's urn tightly.

The funeral home's security saw the fight and hurried over to stop it. "This is a public place, no fighting is allowed. Please leave immediately!" he said.

But even the security guards couldn't hold back the crowd, especially Kelly, who looked like she wanted to devour me.

"You are just a gold digger, at most a plaything for Adam. You can't get into his heart." Her words sent a shiver through my heart.

When my mom was hospitalized with a heart attack, her only wish was to see me and Adam married. Afraid she would die with regrets, I promised Adam many conditions and he finally agreed.

We had a flash marriage. After the wedding, he worked exceptionally hard for the company, which made me very gratified. I didn't pay much attention to the fact that he was away on business trips every other day and was not at home. I thought he was busy with his career, but I didn't expect that he had a new lover.

Kelly looked at me clutching the urn tightly and continued, "What are you doing at the funeral home? Is your mom dead? You're a gold digger, so your mom must not be a good person either. Maybe you learned all this from your mom."

Hearing this, anger surged within me. Earlier, I could endure her insults directed at me, but she had crossed the line by insulting my mom. As she was about to speak again, my slap landed on her face first!

She was about to fight back. At this time, the roar of a car engine came from the parking lot not far away. Adam hurriedly got out of the car, his face cold and stern and walked quickly towards us.

Chapter 3

Upon seeing Adam, Kelly's angry expression immediately turned to one of grievance. She covered her face and threw herself into Adam's arms, complaining about her recent suffering.

In front of me, Adam showed no sign of feeling anything was wrong. Instead, he gently patted Kelly's back and comforted her softly.

Then he turned to face me, his expression stern. "Sarah, you really are a shrew! You've gone too far!"

His voice was not loud, but the coldness in it made my breath stop for a moment. He ignored my injuries but comforted another woman! I met his gaze head-on, refusing to back down.

"Is this what you do every day when you say you're busy? Spending time with her?" I asked bitterly.

Adam replied indifferently, "Kelly hasn't been with the company for long, there are many areas where she needs my guidance. Why are you being so sarcastic? Are you still the Sarah I once knew?"

I laughed in exasperation. Considering the time, it seemed that I, his legitimate wife, had spent less time with him than his secretary had. My voice suddenly rose, "Adam, are you blind? Can't you see the words on that banner? Don't forget, I am your legal wife!"

Hearing this, everyone was stunned. None of them knew that the famous General Manager Adam Jenkins of Baltimore actually had a wife. Kelly looked at me in disbelief, her eyes full of jealousy and resentment.

As for Adam, in the past, fearing that my mother would be upset and her health would deteriorate, I had always gone along with Adam. This was the first time I had opposed him.

A trace of anger appeared between his eyebrows. "Kelly thought I wasn't married yet, so it's not her fault. She was just worried I was being deceived."

It was ridiculous that the mistress was afraid the man she seduced was being deceived by his legitimate wife. Seeing the pair in front of me, who seemed to understand each other so well, felt like a giant hand was squeezing my heart tightly.

I tried to calm myself down and looked at Adam. "In that case, I can make it easy for both of you."

I took out my phone and dialed my lawyer's number and said, "Mr. Atkins, please bring the agreement for leaving the marriage with nothing to the funeral home."

Today, I will make Adam sign the divorce agreement, leaving him penniless and empty-handed!
