Chapter 1
"I'll have a team-building event tonight. You don't have to wait for me."
On the day of the wedding anniversary, I planned to pick her up from work downstairs but saw her with another man acting intimately all the way into the car.
I followed them to the hotel and watched them kiss passionately. I didn't disturb them but returned to the car.
In the passenger seat, there were flowers, cakes, and her favorite platinum bag.
I sat in the car and waited quietly until they checked out and separated.
——
"Honey, why did you smoke so much and come back so late?"
Seeing that I had returned, Miley Walter helped me take off my jacket enthusiastically.
She was wearing a tight black lace dress, and her hair was half dry. Obviously, she had just come back, and there was the fragrance of shampoo on her hair.
Seeing that I was silent, she ran into the kitchen and handed me a glass of milk.
It was my habit of having milk before going to bed.
"Don't smoke so much next time."
Miley held a glass of milk and looked at me with complaint in her eyes.
If it were in the past, I would have hugged her to express my gratitude, but now I just felt it hard to breathe.
I was so exhausted and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Then I saw a stack of black miniskirts on the washing machine in the bathroom.
There were still traces of another man on it. It rucked up seriously with threads on it. Just by looking at them, one could tell that they had really passionate sex today.
Just as I was staring at it, Miley rushed in and snatched the clothes quickly from my hands. She then explained hastily.
"Someone spit on it today. I haven't had time to wash it."
She slipped away soon with her dress.
When I finished washing up and went back to bed, Miley was looking at the ceiling with a silly smile. She didn't even stop smiling until I came in.
"Do you remember what day it is today?"
There was some expectation in her eyes. She stood up and asked me.
"I don't know."
I could only answer her casually.
Miley was a little absent-minded. She lay back down with her back to me.
Then she took out her mobile phone and replied something quickly, letting out a low and silly laugh.
On my bedside table were photos of us traveling all over the world.
Everyone viewed us as a perfect couple.
Miley put down her phone and suddenly rode on me, teasing me.
"Today is an important day. Shall we do it once?"
She caressed my body casually.
I just felt as uncomfortable as if I had been bitten by an ant.
At this moment, Miley's phone suddenly vibrated. A man's name flashed across the screen.
She quickly turned over, grabbed her phone, and ran to her locker room to answer the call.
It wasn't hard to guess who could make Miley stop at this time in the middle of the night.
She stayed in the locker room and talked for nearly an hour without showing any signs of stopping.
Her voice sounded light and lively as she tried to be coquettish and flirtatious from time to time. It sounded like she was just a little girl who had just fallen in love.
I walked to the balcony and continued smoking.
I met Miley on the first day I worked in my father's company as an unknown staff member.
I hid my identity just to learn some real skills.
Miley was the receptionist of the company, and she was the one who had welcomed me.
At that time, I was just a newcomer. In her eyes, I was poor and dull.
After I found out that I liked her, I helped her many times in secret.
It was me who helped her to become the general manager's assistant gradually.
She got promoted so quickly that many people in the company were jealous of her.
But under my instructions, no one dared to talk about it.
I pursued her passionately and finally won her heart.
But I knew that my parents wouldn't accept her.
Therefore, I fought against my parents and abandoned everything in my family just to be together with Miley.
I thought that as long as we loved each other, I could earn money and give her everything by myself, and we could afford to buy a big house and cars one day.
But one day, a new manager was appointed to the headquarters. He was called Marshall Olson, Miley's first love and ex-boyfriend.
Marshall was tall, handsome, and rich. All the girls in the company liked him.
In addition, he was a senior executive at such a young age, so there were a lot of girls chasing after him.
From that day on, I noticed that Miley, who was usually dressed in a simple style, changed her dressing style.
The skirt she wore was getting shorter and shorter, and she was always wearing a shirt with a big collar and high heels.
It was actually not an appropriate uniform.
Every day, before going out, Miley would check in the mirror for a long time and put on exquisite makeup.
I teased her that day.
"Your underwear is exposed."
But she answered subconsciously.
"That's exactly what I want."
When she came to her senses, she added quickly.
"It's cool to wear like this."
At that time, I didn't realize the meaning of her words.
Every time I saw that she was getting mature and beautiful, I felt sweet in my heart. All I wanted was just stay with her and live a happy and simple life.
Today was our wedding anniversary. I wanted to give her a surprise like Marshall did, but until now did I realize that I had been treated so terribly.
Chapter 2
I smoked three packs of cigarettes in a day, and my throat was dry as I coughed.
When I returned to the bedroom, Miley had already laid down after making a phone call.
As soon as I sat by the bed, she came close to me, looking more passionate than before.
"Please do me a favor, honey."
I agreed subconsciously.
"I have something to do at home tomorrow. Can you go out for a day?"
I was well aware of what she wanted to do and asked tactfully.
"It's Sunday tomorrow. Where should I go?"
Miley played with her fingers.
"My friend and the manager of our company want to visit our house."
I turned to look at her.
"What? You want to keep our relationship a secret?"
Seeing that she was trying to come up with an excuse, I felt impatient and agreed directly.
"Got it."
She hugged me excitedly and kissed me several times. I wiped the place where she had kissed quickly.
Seeing what I did, she was a little stunned.
"What happened to you?"
I turned around and lay down.
"I'm sleepy."
Miley grabbed my arm and fell asleep.
My mind was filled with images of them kissing passionately in the car.
Early the next morning, I didn't even have time to eat breakfast before I was asked to go out by Miley.
I was depressed, so I had some coffee in the cafe downstairs, one cup after another.
In the afternoon, I thought it was time for Marshall to leave, so I decided to go home.
The boss of the cafe stopped me.
"Mr. Hatfield, your coffee is packed. Don't forget to take it."
Seeing that I was stunned, he confirmed the phone number and name on it.
I had no choice but to take the coffee. Perhaps it was ordered by Miley.
When I got home, I realized that I didn't bring my keys, so I pressed the doorbell.
The person who opened the door was Miley, but she was not going to let me in.
She looked embarrassed and didn't know what to do.
The person inside the door asked her.
"Miley, who is it?"
Miley answered.
"It's for coffee."
At that moment, I was so disappointed.
She snatched the coffee from my hand and looked flustered.
The man in the room walked out. When he saw me, he paused for a moment before he turned around and kissed Miley gently.
"It's hot today. Thank you for the takeout."
Miley pushed the man slightly and slammed the door shut.
My hand was still at the door, and she almost broke my finger.
I rubbed my pale fingers and went back to the cafe until it was late at night.
Only then did Miley ask me to return.
"I've prepared food for you, honey. Come and eat."
The food looked like leftovers. I felt it was ridiculous and was even more disgusted.
Seeing that I didn't move, Miley explained guiltily.
"During the day, that's... I'm not..."
I stopped her from explaining further.
"I understand. You had no choice."
She nodded hurriedly.
I asked her casually.
"Is that our manager?"
She nodded slightly and craned her neck to look at my expression.
"Do you mind? We're just colleagues. He's just my leader. Don't misunderstand me."
I sneered in my heart but didn't show it on my face.
If I hadn't seen the two of them that day, I would have believed her.
When I got back to the bedroom, I found all the photos at home had been put away, and my clothes and supplies had been stuffed into the cabinet.
There was no trace of me living in the house.
There was a faint smell in the room, which didn't disappear even when the window was open.
The bed sheets were wrinkled, and there was still some half-dry liquid.
I opened the drawer, and as expected, there was one condom missing.
By this time, I was totally disappointed, and there was no hope for me to expect.
We had been married for five years, but I hadn't even said a harsh word to Miley.
I gave her all my salary and did all the housework.
I didn't dare to take her to see my parents, for fear that she couldn't stand the grievance.
When she was competing for the chief secretary, I found many people to vote for her.
I liked children, but Miley had never wanted them, so I respect her choice. I hoped that I could serve her well as soon as possible and make her happy. Maybe one day, she would be willing to give birth to a cute daughter like her so that my parents would accept her.
While she was showering, I went to the balcony to smoke again. I recalled the intimacy between them and the fact that she called me the delivery man.
I slapped myself and felt that if I didn't expose her, I would be just a coward.
After taking a shower, Miley changed into a set of sexy clothes.
In the past, when I bought it for her and asked her to put it on, she always refused it, saying she was a conservative woman. But today, she took the initiative to wear it.
She showed off her charms and was extremely tempting. In a trance, I felt as if what happened these past few days was just my imagination.
Chapter 3
"Why are you looking at me like that? Isn't it normal for a wife to wear like this?"
Miley's words instantly brought me back to reality.
She tried her best to put on the posture that she thought was the most tempting. If it were in the past, I would have been very excited.
But today, their gentle kisses lingered in my mind for a long time. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't forget them.
Miley pushed me slightly and lifted my chin with her fingertips.
"It's time for you to take a shower. What are you waiting for?"
I tried to forget about my memory and wanted to give myself one last chance.
What if I think too much?
When I'm done showering, I'll tell her my doubts. I thought.
Just as I was ready, Miley poured cold water on me.
"Honey, I'm going on a business trip tomorrow."
The hope in my heart was extinguished once again.
I asked with a cold face.
"How many days?"
She pretended to be calm and stretched out her fingers with a smile.
"Just a week."
I lit a cigarette and started smoking.
"Who are you going with?"
Miley pretended to look elsewhere, not daring to meet my gaze.
"It's just a colleague. You don't know him."
I knew who she was going out with. It was Marshall.
I didn't touch her that night.
The next morning, I wanted to pack her luggage, but she refused.
In the past, she would be delighted if I packed the luggage for her. She would only feel that was my way of loving her.
Seeing that she was protecting her suitcase tightly, I glanced at it.
There were several short skirts, a stack of black silk stockings, and a box of condoms.
I got it. That was why I was not allowed to touch her luggage.
Before going out, she put on makeup for two hours. There had been a smile on her face, and she wagged her head happily from time to time.
I had never seen her so excited before. She looked like she was going on a honeymoon.
After a long time, the car downstairs honked and startled her.
She picked up her luggage hurriedly and refused to let me send her downstairs.
Before I hurried out of the door, Miley reminded me.
"Wait for me at home, honey. I'll agree to whatever you want to do."
She kissed me gently and pressed her lips against mine.
I just got goosebumps all over my body.
However, the next morning, I received a call from home.
The secretary's voice sounded flustered.
"The president is in great emergency."
I was so panicked. Finally, I called Miley.
At the very least, I wanted her to see my father for the last time so that he wouldn't worry.
After a long time, the call was picked up.
It was Marshall who answered the phone with a deep voice.
I held back my grief and anger, roaring.
"Tell Miley to answer the phone."
Marshall spoke after a long pause.
"You're Miley's husband, right? I'm Marshall. Miley can't answer the phone now. She's taking a shower."
The one who was singing lightly stopped, and the sound of steps approached.
Her voice was soft.
"Honey, who called you?"
"It's your husband."
"..."
When I came out of the hospital, I was in a deep loss. There were dozens of missed calls on my mobile phone, as well as a few WhatsApp messages, all of which were from the same person.
[Honey, did you just call? I was busy with work with my leader, so my phone was not with me. My colleague answered it for me. If there's anything urgent, let's talk about it in a few days. I'm almost done with my work. Be good, honey.]
Miley didn't come back.
A few days later, I received his will after my father's funeral.
In addition to the ownership of the houses and other properties, he added another condition.
I had to divorce Miley and marry his friend's daughter.
As long as I agree, all the assets would be mine. If I refused, I wouldn't get a penny.
Thinking back to my five-year marriage, I didn't sign my name immediately.
I still had a sliver of hope for Miley.
I wanted to give her a chance to live up to the five years of mutual support.
One day, Miley returned.
She walked briskly like a proud peacock.
When she saw me smoking downstairs, she withdrew her smile and took the initiative to hold my arm.
"Honey, how did you know I was coming back?"
I glanced behind her and saw that Marshall had just parked the car.
It was a BMW, and Marshall was in a black suit. Any woman would want to take a few more glances at him. No wonder Miley was so obsessed with him.
When Miley noticed Marshall's approaching, her expression stiffened.
"Hello, are you Zayden Hatfield? I'm Marshall, your boss."
Out of politeness, I reached out to shake hands with him, but he changed his direction halfway and pretended to pat the dust off his clothes in disgust.
Miley watched our interaction awkwardly.
"I wanted to introduce you two to each other, but I haven't found a chance yet. What a coincidence today."
I tried my best to control my anger and pulled on Miley's hand, preparing to return home.
But Marshall didn't intend to let us go.
"Miley, there's a meeting today. Don't you remember?"
Miley stood in the middle of us, hesitating for a long time. After a long time, she made up her mind.
She walked up to Marshall and looked at me with guilt.
"I'm sorry, honey. There's still a meeting in the company."
After that, Miley took Marshall's arm and got in the car quickly. She didn't even take her luggage with her.
Watching the car drive away, I finally gave up.
She chose Marshall. In her heart, I was not as important as Marshall.
I took the luggage upstairs. I was not even allowed to touch it when Miley left, but now it was close at hand.
There were several sets of underwear rolled up inside.
The box of the condom was empty. All her clothes were torn in a terrible state.
Somehow, I helped her put away the luggage. I even washed all her clothes and dried them.
After everything was done, I took out the will and signed my name decisively.
It meant that my five years of marriage with Miley had come to an end.
After signing the name, I sent a message to someone. Soon, I received a call from Miley.
"Honey, please do me a favor. Marshall's business is in trouble. I heard that it's a client of your department. Go and help persuade him. I remember that you have a good relationship with him, or Marshall will be transferred."
It was Marshall again. I was tired of hearing his name.
I didn't turn her down immediately. Instead, I made a request.
"Come home with me, and I'll help you solve it."
My father worked hard all his life, but he never saw me form a happy family and start a business.
I wanted him to see his daughter-in-law.
If Miley wanted, I could introduce my experience to her.
It was a pity that the five-year marriage had ended in a hurry.
Hearing that she agreed, I called the client.
With just a few words, I saved the project. That person was one of my father's old friends.
Five minutes later, Miley called.
"There's no need, honey. Marshall has his own connections, and the project has continued."
I sneered in my heart.
"What about going home?"
After hesitating for a long time, she replied in a sorry tone.
"Honey, what about a few days later? I've been very busy at the company recently. I have to stay here for a few days. I may not be able to go back."
