Chapter 1
The members of the runway team always loved to secretly tear my outfits.
During daily practice, she would sneakily alter my clothes when I wasn’t around, making me a laughingstock in front of the male models.
At one runway audition, she and I stepped onto the stage together, one on the left and one on the right. Suddenly, she yanked down my zipper, leaving me half-naked in front of the audience.
She always laughed and said,
“Come on, it’s just a little joke. Don’t be so serious.”
“And besides, your figure is amazing—let everyone enjoy the view.”
Later, just as I was about to be crowned champion of the Model Championship held every three years, she tore my outfit apart during a live broadcast.
With no time to repair it, I had no choice but to go on stage. The officials claimed I had exposed myself intentionally and banned me for life.
After that, I became the target of millions of netizens’ cyberbullying, a public disgrace, until I fell into depression and ended my life.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back at the very moment she first “altered” my clothes. The pain in my wrist hadn’t even faded.
I suddenly sat up, as if everything had happened just yesterday.
“Emily Sanders, why are you still standing there? Hurry up and change, the runway training is about to start!”
The Runway Director’s urgent voice pulled me back to reality.
I was in the fitting room, getting ready for our daily rehearsal.
My roommate Vanessa Miller came in, excited, walking straight toward me.
In my previous life, it was at this exact moment that she said my outfit didn’t flatter me and quickly “adjusted” it. When I walked onto the stage wearing it, within a few steps, my underwear was showing.
Already on stage, I had to endure the humiliation. The men below whistled and shouted crude remarks. That incident haunted me, making me nervous every time I stepped on the runway.
But this time, before she could approach me, I shoved her hard.
“Ah! Emily, are you insane?”
Vanessa fell to the ground, her face twisting in pain.
In her moment of fury, I grabbed her hair with one hand and slapped her hard with the other.
“Ahhh!”
She struggled desperately, clawing at my arm, but I didn’t let go. Within minutes, her face was swollen like a pig’s head.
I sneered. “That’s all you’ve got? And you think you can mess with me?”
“You love playing jokes? Fine. I’ll play with you to the end.”
A group of teammates gathered, staring in shock.
I finally released her. Her hair was a mess, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
“Emily, are you crazy? Do you want to kill me?” she cried, trying to act pitiful as more people arrived.
I calmly wiped my hands with a tissue.
“Kill you? Please. I’d be afraid to dirty my hands.”
“I just want you to know—some jokes are not to be made.”
She cried even harder.
“Everyone, look at her! I was only joking, and she nearly beat me to death. She’s paranoid and doesn’t deserve to share the stage with us.”
The Runway Director stormed in, furious.
“What is going on here?!”
The moment Vanessa saw the director, she put on her best performance—tears flowing, her pitiful act almost Oscar-worthy.
Chapter 2
She clutched her swollen face and sobbed in a trembling voice.
“Director, we were just fooling around. I didn’t expect Emily to suddenly go crazy and start hitting me.”
I gave a cold laugh and looked at everyone.
“Fooling around?”
“Deliberately altering my outfit so it exposed my underwear on stage—you call that fooling around?”
“What?”
The Runway Director’s face darkened. The bystanders began to murmur.
“Ripping runway outfits? Those are company property, you can’t just damage them. And they’re designed by professional designers—who gives you the right to alter them?”
“Exposing underwear? That’s clearly sabotage.”
“No wonder Vanessa reacted so aggressively—she was trying to cover up her own guilt.”
Vanessa put on her innocent look.
“No, please, let me explain. I swear I was only playing around. Maybe I just don’t know better—I grew up in a small town, and that’s how we played. Emily is just too serious.”
I pulled out one of the dresses she had ruined.
“Too serious? If it’s such a joke, why don’t you wear this yourself?”
“Don’t pretend you weren’t trying to humiliate me on stage.”
Her lies collapsed instantly.
I turned to the director, speaking slowly and firmly.
“This time I’ll let it go. But if it happens again, I won’t ask anyone’s opinion—I’ll go straight to the police.”
I put on my clothes and walked out, leaving Vanessa to face the director’s scolding.
Since I had been given another chance at life, I was determined to return every ounce of humiliation I had suffered before.
I knew Vanessa wouldn’t give up easily, so I prepared myself to collect evidence early. Back in the dorm, I switched on my phone’s recording function.
My past life had taught me one lesson: the weak are bullied, but the strong are respected.
Soon, two of my roommates returned, looking at me with mixed expressions.
Grace Parker grabbed my hand.
“Emily, weren’t you too harsh today? We’re all roommates—no matter what she did, you shouldn’t have hit her.”
“Vanessa’s actually a good person. She’s just from a small town, insecure, and only wanted to fit in by joking around.”
Chloe Adams nodded.
“Yeah, she looked so pitiful, I couldn’t stand it.”
Of course—it’s always easy to ask for forgiveness when you’re not the victim. That was how it went in my past life too—everyone told me to be the bigger person, to overlook her cruelty.
This time, I didn’t argue. I simply pulled out more evidence from my closet.
“Look at these. She altered all of my dresses—if you can even call it ‘altering.’ She cut them apart, tore them into rags. She turned every long dress into a miniskirt so short it shows my underwear.”
I held up another outfit.
“And this one was supposed to be my training outfit today. Tell me, can this still be worn?”
Their faces turned pale. The dress was not only ugly, but cut so short it exposed nearly everything. One step on stage, and the humiliation would be complete.
Chapter 3
After seeing the ruined clothes, neither of them spoke up for Vanessa anymore.
I looked at them coldly.
“She wasn’t helping me. She was setting me up to be humiliated.”
At that moment, Vanessa entered, looking pitiful.
When she saw her handiwork spread out on my desk, she froze.
I deliberately touched the torn fabric.
“Vanessa, what do you have to say for yourself?”
She broke down in tears.
“I don’t know—I really don’t know. I didn’t do this!”
“If it wasn’t you, did the clothes rip themselves? Or maybe one of the other roommates did it?”
Vanessa stammered, unable to reply.
“Emily, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. Please forgive me.”
“I was just jealous. We’re the same age, but you’re better than me at everything—talent, looks, background. Everyone likes you. I felt insecure and did something terrible.”
She suddenly fell to her knees.
“Please, don’t tell the director. If I get punished, I’ll be kicked out. My grandmother depends on me—she won’t survive the shock.”
I stared at the pearl necklace on her neck, the limited-edition earrings, and the luxury skincare she used every day. It was laughable.
In my previous life, I died never knowing who she really was. She was no poor small-town girl. She was the heiress of the Miller Corporation, one of the top business families in New York City.
Her parents had sent her here to “experience life” before taking over the family empire. Behind the scenes, she lived in luxury, chauffeured in private cars.
But her crocodile tears easily won my roommates’ sympathy.
“Emily, maybe you should just let this go. Vanessa’s already apologized.” Grace tried to persuade me again.
“Yeah, give her another chance. Otherwise, she might really get expelled.” Chloe chimed in.
I sneered.
“Do you know what would have happened if I had gone on stage in these outfits? Exposure like that leads to permanent disqualification. Crying won’t fix that.”
“I didn’t!” Vanessa tried to argue again.
“Too late.”
I held up my phone in front of her.
“I recorded everything you just admitted. It’s not up to you anymore. If I give this to the director, do you think she’ll still let you stay?”
Vanessa froze, her face pale as paper.
“You… you actually schemed against me?”
“I learned it from you.”
I leaned close and whispered in her ear.
“Cross me again, and I’ll destroy you.”
Terrified, Vanessa collapsed onto the floor, staring at me with wide, panicked eyes.
My other two roommates didn’t dare say a word.
This was only the beginning. Her real suffering was still ahead.
Vanessa Miller, let’s see how long you last.
For the time being, she stopped causing trouble.
