Chapter 1
To please his new lover, Joe Lawrence tricked my brother into stealing diamonds in an underground city.
The night passed. My brother never came back.
Before he died, he tightly held a pink diamond in his hands.
I cried and called Joe to question him.
He didn't care, asking indifferently, "How about it, did your brother escape? I bet 30 million dollars. You can't let me lose!"
I was so angry that my whole body trembled.
After burying my brother, I turned around and left.
But he knelt in the rain. With his eyes red, he begged me not to leave.
——
After I buried my brother, a week had passed.
After the call that day, Joe never contacted me again. He had long forgotten about my brother's matter.
I returned home like a wandering soul. Before opening the door, I heard the deafening DJ sound inside.
I pushed the door open, and the choking smoke hit me. The dazzling spotlights made my eyes sore.
Joe was holding a beautiful woman in a red dress in his arms, swaying. They were so intimate.
I silently watched them, with a burst of chill in my eyes.
Someone saw me. All the voices suddenly stopped. They looked at each other meaningfully.
Joe noticed something was wrong. He turned his head to look at me, but he didn't stop what he was doing.
He exhaled smoke, looking at Scarlett Reid in his arms with infatuation.
"Since you're back, go wait over there. Don't get in the way here."
His tone was impatient. It seemed that he wasn't the one being ambiguous with other women in front of his girlfriend.
Scarlett leaned against him, with a hint of a smile in the corners of her eyes.
"Natalya, we're just playing games. You shouldn't be angry, right?"
"Playing games?"
"Is tricking my brother into going to the underground city to steal diamonds a game too?"
I was so angry that my whole body trembled. I kept staring at them.
Seeing me motionless, Joe frowned slightly, as if he were about to get angry in the next second.
The vibe on the scene was weird. Everyone quickly broke the ice and teased me.
"Natalya, has your brother come out of the underground city?"
"Joe said that your brother was the best bodyguard in France. A mere underground city can't trap him, right?"
"We bet 30 million dollars. If he doesn't come out, I'll lose everything I have."
"By the way, it was Scarlett's suggestion to play this game. You can't let us lose!"
After finishing their words, there was a burst of laughter in the room.
My trembling became more intense.
I asked in a hoarse voice, "Was it fun?"
I looked up and looked at their faces with hatred, wishing to kill them.
Joe stopped what he was doing.
"What did you just say?"
I clenched my teeth and said word by word, "I said, in my name, you deceived my brother into the underground city and watched him being beaten by the thugs. Is it fun?"
...
When my brother was drugged and thrown into the underground city while he was unconscious, they cold-bloodedly watched him being beaten into a pulp.
At that time, my brother, because of the lingering effects of the drugs, was weak all over. He could only watch himself being tortured without fighting back.
As the buyers, they could have demanded the underground city to ensure my brother's safety before he regained consciousness, but they were unwilling to make such a request.
When I received the news of my brother's death and rushed over, he was covered in bruises, lying limp in my arms like a rag.
I cried until I lost my voice, but he would never come back.
I had been with Joe for five years, and I knew he was a playful person.
But I didn't expect that he would joke about my brother's life!
"I don't understand. What does human life mean to him?"
"If he had a little bit of humanity, he would consider my feelings."
"How could he allow those lunatics to treat my brother's life as a plaything?"
Chapter 2
After I shouted at him like that, Joe instantly lost interest.
"Natalya Patton, what's wrong with you?"
Scarlett reached out and touched Joe's chest, pretending to be scared.
"Natalya, why are you so fierce? Isn't it just making your brother go to the underground city? Or is it because your brother is delicate? He can't even afford to play a game."
"In the end, he's just a servant, who takes care of the Lawrence family. Did you think he's Joe's brother-in-law?"
Anger surged through me from the bottom of my feet to the top of my head. I couldn't hold it in any longer.
I shouted in anger, "Games! In your eyes, everything is just a toy for your entertainment! But my brother is a living being! He is not a plaything for you!"
My eyes turned red with anger. The pampered men and ladies on the scene, who had been spoiled since their childhood, were all startled.
In the past, I knew my status was different, so I didn't dare to speak loudly. But now, they were all stunned after I shouted like this.
Joe revealed a hint of anger in his eyes, saying discontentedly, "Natalya, what's gotten into you? Have I been too good to you these days, making you forget your identity?"
"My identity?"
"Yes, he is the master, and I am a servant in their eyes."
"How dared a servant get angry in front of the master?"
I smiled with a sense of sorrow rising within me. Tears uncontrollably streamed down my face.
"Yes. I can't live up to you, the one in charge of the Lawrence family."
In these five years, he had been acting as my boyfriend and being intimate with me. In reality, I was not even as good as a dog raised by his family.
If something happened, he would address me intimately. Otherwise, he would call me by my full name in anger.
"If it weren't for the marriage proposal from his mother back then, how could he, a young master of a wealthy family, be interested in me?"
"In front of his group of friends, I am just a maid to warm his bed!"
Joe looked at me for a while, sensing my abnormality.
For these seven days, I had been repenting in front of my brother's grave without eating or drinking anything.
My eyes were red and swollen. My weak body was even more emaciated at this moment.
There was a hint of pity in Joe's eyes.
Pushing Scarlett away, he said something gentle to me for the first time.
"Okay, it's my fault this time. I didn't consider it well. I'll apologize to your brother later. Is that okay?"
I laughed in anger, saying, "Apologizing to him? You should indeed apologize to him, but not just you."
"You, all of you murderers. You should apologize to my brother in hell!"
I looked at everyone present one by one as my eyes were filled with hatred.
Everyone was confused, looking at each other with doubt.
Seeing that I embarrassed him and repeatedly offended his friends, Joe instantly became furious.
"Natalya, have you caused enough trouble? I said I would apologize to your brother later. What else do you want?"
"What did I want?"
"My beloved brother, who I relied on for everything, tragically lost his life due to a joke they made."
"As the master behind the scenes, how could he even ask me what I wanted?"
After being pushed away by Joe, Scarlett stared at me with resentment in her eyes. She elegantly walked towards me.
"Natalya, Joe has promised to apologize, so you don't need to make a fuss."
"If you're not satisfied, I'll accompany Joe to kneel and apologize to you. Is that okay?"
She sounded aggrieved, trying to persuade me.
When she approached me, she leaned close to my ear and smirked.
"Unfortunately, you weren't there that day to see your brother begging for mercy on his knees. He was so pitiful."
I was stunned.
Knowing that she was provoking me, I couldn't help it. I grabbed her hair and pressed her to the ground, slapping her repeatedly.
Chapter 3
No one expected that I would suddenly act. They were shocked by my crazy behavior. They hurriedly rushed over to pull me away.
They pinned me down on the ground, looking disgusted.
"Natalya, how dare you hit Scarlett! She said she would apologize. What else do you want?"
"No wonder you came from a poor family. It's one thing that you are lowly. You dared to be violent!"
"Do you know that we can make people like you disappear with just a flick of our fingers?"
"Joe, although she is your girlfriend, you have to give everyone an explanation today!"
Under the insistence of this group of spoiled people, Joe stood up and came to me.
His eyes were full of coldness, disappointment, and anger.
Before I could say anything, he kicked me hard.
My fragile body seemed to fall apart on the spot as he kicked me like this.
A burst of piercing pain came in waves. I broke out in a pang of cold sweat in an instant.
Joe looked down at me, saying indifferently.
"I did have sex with you a few times. Do you think you are Mrs. Lawrence?"
"You and your brother are just two dogs I raised at home! If I'm happy, I'll give you some food to eat. If I'm not happy, you'll end up dead. Do you understand?"
I felt like all my organs had shifted. I couldn't even say a word.
Looking at this man I've loved for over ten years, I felt like all my love had been wasted.
The first time I met Joe, I was only fourteen. I made a living with my brother by selling things.
I then accidentally bumped into Joe again while setting up the stall. Covered in mud, he was as handsome as ever.
I was stunned. Then I secretly brought him home without telling my brother.
From that moment on, I couldn't help but fall in love with him.
Then his mother found him and took me and my brother to the Lawrence family, giving us a job to make a living.
I knew my status was different from his. I didn't dare to pursue Joe, so I never thought about being with him.
Unexpectedly, Joe confessed to me to avoid an arranged marriage in the year I graduated from high school.
I thought that years of secret love would finally come to fruition. I agreed without hesitation.
His mother knew this, feeling angry. She used all means to obstruct us. Joe didn't care as he protected me.
I was immersed in his love, thinking that I had met a good man.
Then he met the carefully selected blind date arranged by his mother, Scarlett.
The rebellious Scarlett made him fall for her at first sight.
He brought Scarlett into his social circle and introduced her to all his friends.
The two passionately kissed at a serious party, declaring their intense love to the world.
After that, I became a joke in everyone's eyes.
Everyone was waiting for me to be abandoned by him, but I foolishly believed that he would change his mind.
And now, my one-sided persistence should finally come to an end!
I endured the pain all over my body, struggled to sit up from the ground, and looked at the familiar face, saying in a hoarse voice, "Joe, let's break up."
...
"From now on, I don't want to see you again!"
