Chapter 2
Evan wanted to say more, but I was too impatient to listen.
I got up, grabbed my bag, slammed the door, and walked out.
"Isabella!" Evan called out desperately as he dashed after me.
He blocked my path, fell to the ground in front of me, and knelt down once again.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
He was so manipulative.
In my past life, I must have been blind to fall for someone like him!
With tears in his eyes, Evan pleaded, "Isabella, I'm really desperate. You're my only relative, the only one who can help me.
"If it wasn't for Chloe pushing my mom that day, she might not have made it. She has done so much for our family, so you will definitely help me, right?"
I couldn't help sneering after hearing that.
I thought, 'She saved your mom, not mine. Why should I be morally pressured into donating my cornea to her? Why don't you just go donate it yourself?'
Evan kept on nagging there, and I suddenly got angry.
"Chloe saved your mother. If you feel that you can't repay the favor, then let your mother donate her corneas! It's none of my business!"
It was such a straightforward issue, yet he had to drag me into it
When finished speaking, Evan looked at me in disbelief, as if I was a stranger.
Perhaps he didn’t expect that I, who had always been obedient and compliant, would so openly expose his dirty and ugly thoughts.
"Isabella! How could you behave like this? My mother is your mother-in-law. How can you say such cruel things?"
I sneered.
I'd never seen anyone more shameless than him.
All I could think about was dividing the property and getting a quick divorce!
Just then, a figure rushed toward me in a frenzy.
She raised his hand and slapped me! "I'll kill you, you ungrateful girl! My son is a man! how dare you make him kneel to you?"
It turned out to be my unreasonable, crazy mother-in-law, Melanie.
I heard that just a few days ago, she wanted to go shopping but refused to let me tag along. She specifically called Chloe, who’s beloved by Evan, and almost got into a car accident!
Now all this chaos is because of her, and she even has the nerve to hit me.
I sneered and slapped Evan even harder without hesitation.
"Didn’t you hear? Mom didn’t want you to kneel. Why are you doing it? Are you trying to let me take the blame?"
After saying that, I slapped them again, leaving both of them in shock.
I sneered, “If you dare to hit me, I’ll make sure your son gets double!”
I refuse to stay in this crazy family for another day!
Chapter 3
Melanie, angrily blocked my way, "Don't go!"
'Why can't I leave?'
I was not afraid at all as I coolly looked at the crazed old woman in front of me. In my previous life, all I wanted was to build a good life with Evan.
For three years of marriage, I treated my mother-in-law like my own mother, serving her every day.
Even though she caused trouble daily, I took care of her meticulously, even fetching water for her foot bath.
But in my previous life, after Chloe went blind, she and Evan came to me together, pleading for me to donate my corneas.
I hesitated and ultimately refused.
My mother-in-law climbed up onto the rooftop in one breath and threatened to jump off to scare me.
She claimed she would use her life to guarantee that I wouldn’t be blind for long and that Evan would find suitable corneas for me.
But after I donated my corneas, she stopped pretending and revealed her true colors. "Chloe is the daughter-in-law I’m most satisfied with; she’s the perfect match for my son!
"I've wanted to kick that blind woman out of the house a long time ago. She is not worthy of being my daughter-in-law."
At that time, I realized how cruel humans could be.
So now, seeing my mother-in-law pretending to be pitiful and begging me to donate my cornea to Chloe, I feel extremely ridiculous.
"Melanie, my eyes are very important to me. I need to work. But you are old, so I guess yours won't be much of use. Why don't you donate yours?"
Hearing my words, my mother-in-law was pissed off.
Evan blamed me for speaking rudely, but I didn't care.
Anyway, I have wanted a divorce for a long time. The two of them made me disgusted. I regretted having wasted three precious years.
As expected, before I even left the neighborhood, my mother-in-law climbed onto the rooftop and threatened me with a megaphone.
"Isabella, you ungrateful things! If you dare to leave today, I will jump from here!"
Many people pointed fingers at me, but I just smirked and walked away, ignoring whatever they said behind me.
'If you wish to die, jump!' I thought.
Chapter 4
I went for an interview at a new company, and it went smoothly. They asked me to start in three days.
As soon as I got home, I immediately began searching for the surveillance cameras installed in my house.
In my previous life, I only discovered that Chloe had secretly installed surveillance in my house like some kind of creep after I went blind.
While I flirted with my husband Evan at home, she watched it all.
She even bought the same pajamas for me, imitating my makeup and posture, seeking excitement with Evan.
At first, I didn't know that Chloe was Evan's first love and they had never cut off contact.
She was so sweet at first, calling me "sister" as soon as we met, showering me with beautiful bags, and always being considerate.
But later, it became clear that she was just very good at manipulating.
My family and she teamed up to deceive me into giving up my corneas. In the end, I met a tragic fate in a car accident!
This time, I have to break free from this den of beasts and make those who hurt me pay the price!
After a long search, I finally found the camera. It's located on the door of the master bedroom, appearing quite hidden, but it directly faces our bed, capturing a complete view of the room.
Just the thought of my private life with Evan laid bare for others to see, makes me feel utterly disgusted!
After cutting the power, I installed another identical surveillance camera right next to the original, and I made sure to cover the living room and the study as well.
Evan wasn't the type to shy away from bringing his lover into the house and doing unspeakable things while I was not around.
I refused to believe that we couldn't gather evidence of their affair!
Even if we ended up divorcing, I’d make sure Evan walks away with nothing!
