Gemma’s POV

I became speechless. “This looks strange and absurd,” I cried out to my wolf.

I was about to rush to my phone and call the pack police to report my mate missing when my eyes caught up with a little piece of paper underneath the flower vase on the center table.

I held my chest. “Could this be a suicide note?” I wondered. What could have made him want to commit suicide when I would absolutely take care of everything?

I moved closer and pulled out the paper from the flower vase.

“I've taken my revenge in full. Thanks for all you've done for me. Forget about the money, I've already gotten it. Check your phone. Hahahah.”

“It's our mating ceremony ceremony, so sorry to announce that there would be no ceremony because I wouldn't be there.”

“You can definitely mate yourself. I'm with someone way better off than you now, someone you know.”

My jaw dropped upon reading this, my knees weakened and I felt dizziness in my head.

Who is he even talking about?

Who do I know?

“Is this a dream? Is this really happening?” I turned to and fro, not knowing what to do, then his last statement hit me. “Check your phone!”

I rushed to my phone. The first notification that hit my eyes was capable of making me mad.

I fell to the fall, sinking into unconsciousness.

I cried all the tears out in my eyes, even my friends learnt of what happened without me telling. I was wailing outside of the apartment uncontrollably. My uncle and aunt whom I saw as my foster mom and dad were called. Their daughter whom I saw as a sister came along to console me.

They were all supposed to be here for my mating ceremony, to rejoice with me but things went on reverse. Now they were here to console me.

“I can't believe this!”

“I can't believe that Louis, the man I loved with all my heart , chose to take revenge on me this way.”

Everyone tried calming me down but I was too frustrated to be consoled. I kept rolling on the floor, wailing and cursing today's date. It had brought more pain than I ever thought of, in fact I wasn't expecting any pain to come my way.

"Pull yourself together baby, you shouldn't let yourself cry this way. You'd only be hurting yourself the more," my cousin consoled, patting my back.

"I know it's quite painful but let's keep calm and see how we can address this issue, it's better than crying?" My step-mom said to me, trying to raise me from the ground. She pulled out her handkerchief and began to wipe off my tears but as she did, more were coming.

I couldn't tell if all these would be of any good to me. It couldn't change the fact that Louis was gone and gone with my entire life's savings.

I felt like dying.

"Leave, you don't know how painful it is mom. Why did he have to humiliate me this way? He didn't even consider the plight of our child in my womb.”

“What will happen to our pup now?” My tears multiplied.

I sniffed.

My aunt pulled me into an embrace, her mate who's my uncle joined. "That's why your mom is asking you to stop crying, who knows the moon goddess might force him to return back to you one day."

"When will that day come?” I muttered, in between tears.

"Be calm dear, I will go and inform the pack registrar about this, so he knows on time the mating ceremony wouldn't hold. He might already be getting prepared to join you guys together.” My step-mom said, and walked away

As soon as she left, my best friend, Lily, gave me a tight hug, she now took the place. She was supposed to be my maid-of-honor for today's ceremony. We'd been planning this ceremony together, Louis, she and I.

She's a very important part of my life. So sad things turned out this way.

"Everything will be fine, trust me, it's his loss and not yours. You're such a wonderful woman, some better man will find you.”

“Come on, don't be sad. You have enough money to take care of yourself till everything is sorted out.”

She didn't know that he had taken all of my money, no one seemed to know. They must be wondering all my tears is because the ceremony failed to hold.

I wanted to tell my bestie, I wanted to tell everyone about this but my lips were too heavy to bear any words.

“One day he will come back running to you and begging you to take him back," Lily comforted me with these words. I tried to take them in.

"I wish he would but if he could be this heartless, I never think that he will be able to come back to me. At least he's matured enough to handle matters in a calm and gentle way if it's because of what my dad did to his but he chose to take revenge this way.” I said, still crying.

"Louis is a bastard and so he doesn't deserve a rare gem like you in his life. If I was in your shoes, trust me, I would consider this a blessing in disguise." One of the guys standing over who came to console me said.

"I'm sorry about what happened to you. Today would have surely been the happiest day of your life but Louis chose to ruin it for you." A cousin of mine beside my dad consoled me, I just nodded my head.

"I'm sorry my dear, I have to leave now!" I raised my head in shock at the sudden news, seeing my reaction she moved to state the reason for her leaving.

“I had to postpone everything at the hospital for your ceremony being my best friend but it didn't push through and it's not your fault. I will have to go back now and take care of the patients under my care.”

“I hope you do not mind?"

Gemma’s POV

She's a nurse, she has to look after lives. It was even more important.

"Not at all, bestie. Thanks for coming to console me, now I have to be strong. I'll look for him and surely take my revenge on him.” I balled my fist, gnashing my teeth. The tears were slowly drying and the grudge and the spirit of revenge took over.

Lily nodded, supporting this decision of mine.

I then forced a smile to let her know I'll handle everything.

"Very well then, I will take my leave now. I will give you a call later on, please be safe and forget about that scum, let some other girl take him, that shouldn't bother you. He will surely regret it and come back crying, then you will ignore him.”

Exactly what I had in mind to do when that day of our meeting came.

Later on, my friend turned sister online placed a call on me. Sienna is a medical doctor working thousand of miles away, due to the nature of her job and the fact that this wasn't her time to be given a leave, she didn't come.

I knew she wanted to hear the details of how the mating ceremony went. I can remember a night before, she bothered me to send lots of pictures and videos, she would print them out and keep safe where she is living.

"Hello sis, how was your ceremony?" Sienna asked her across the phone.

There was a short silence after Sienna’s question, after which I let out a deep sigh.

"What is wrong? Did anything happen? Why don't you sound happy?" Sienna attacked me with loads of questions.

"There was no ceremony," I finally answered.

"What do you mean by that? All your life, you have wished for this, the day you will be joined with your mate, the man you love so much.” She breathed hard, feeling uneasy.

I said nothing.

“So what has gone wrong all of a sudden? Today is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, Gemma, please say something.”

The air was filled with tension as I continued in silence.

“You are making me worried."

"Louis disappeared. I woke up to see that he and his belongings were gone–” do wanted to tell her more of the huge savings of mine which he disappeared with but my voice trailed off.

I would be feeling so naive to even do this, then tell it to someone but Louis used to seem like the most loving mate on earth.

I felt so weak, the phone slid through my fingers crashing to the ground.

“Hello?”

“Hello?”

I could hear her voice faintly from the other end but I couldn't pick the phone up.

When I finally got to pick the phone, I couldn't talk much, my sigh told Sienna I was back on the line.

"What!" she exclaimed. “I'm still thinking about what you said but it's too hard to believe this.”

I had no strength to persuade her to.

"If I ever happen to come across him, I will make sure I teach him a deep lesson because that is what he really deserves for messing with my girl," Sienna voiced with so much anger.

Though she wasn't my biological sister, she was a friend who stood in for me as a sister, the distance and the fact that we were always communicating online did not matter.

Revenge was lurking in the air. I need to find out where Louis was and do my worst in revenge. I couldn't just let him spoil my life and go scot free.

Later in the evening, I decided to call Lily, my best friend who left to go to work. I wanted to talk with her again. I wanted to hear her soothing voice again.

She could help me track Louis, whatever, we too could fight to get Louis trapped.

"Sorry, this line is currently unavailable!" I gasped at this response.

The same response I got while trying to link up with Louis.

Worry set in because her line never said this, we have been friends for years and this was the first time I couldn't reach her.

“Why will her phone go off when I earnestly want to speak with her. She should know this.” I was angry with her.

“What if something happened?” My wolf snapped, coming up with these weird words. I shrieked.

"What could be happening?" I asked myself.

“Hope something bad didn't happen to her along the way?”

I got another thought if the phone was snatched from her but our pack was one of the safest, so I couldn't tell the exact thing going wrong. I tried again several times, still it wasn't going.

Same answer repeated itself.

This was the first time in history, prior to her position at work, she always made sure her line went through. Even at work, she still picks my call, when she's busy she sends a quick reminder, promising to call back when she's done and she always calls back.

"Hmm," I sighed heavily.

An idea rang in my mind. "I'll track her phone location!" I had a good phone for this. I couldn't mindlink right now, my heart wasn't stable to maintain any connection.

The super tracker on my phone was on premium, so far all the results it has been giving me are always right. It could track the location of a phone whether it was off or on, I had Lily's phone details.

“She's too precious for me, I have to find her.”

I started putting on my clothes, for the moment I'd forgotten my own plight and was looking forward to hers. Though it was getting dark, I'll trace her.

Just as I was about to open the door of the apartment to go out, my phone pinged with a video notification. It was from an unknown number.

My heart stopped tapping on the video to see a naked woman on top.

“What's this?” I gulped.

Then the video began to play.

Gemma’s POV

The lady was rocking a man who seemed so familiar. I poked my eyes, leaning closer to stare at my screen. His face shifted slightly.

Louis!

His name popped up from my mouth without a single thought. My jaw dropped, eyes getting wider.

The woman continued to rock him, moaning alongside him. I grabbed my chest, wanting to drop to the ground.

Who's this woman?

I was eager to know but she was backing the camera, but not until she turned to look at it, I dropped to my knees.

Lily, my bestie. Who said she was rushing back to work. My number one supporter!

“Oh goddess! Is this even real or imaginations are just trying to play with my head?”

Lily, the only girl I loved most in this world, betrayed me. It was almost like a dream playing before my very eyes, a dream which looked so real.

“Fuck you, when I told you I liked your mate so much, you thought I was joking?” An audio clip accompanied, her voice sounding so hoarse that it seemed strange.

I hardly believed it was her sharing this video of herself fucking my mate and daring to drop a clip. Lily was close to my mate and I, and on several occasions she talked of admiring Louis while he would smile. All these while I thought she was just saying this because we're best friends and she was happy for my love life.

“Oh my goodness!” I wailed, slapping my hips in anguish.

“I've been so naive. First with Louis, now with Lily.” I blamed myself.

My problem was that I loved and trusted too much such that I couldn't detect the red flags on time. Now I'm paying for it.

I pulled in a long, deep breath, twisting my lips and gnashing my teeth. Anger filled my veins and the urge to revenge.

“Get up, be a strong woman and deal with them. I'm here with you!” My wolf sparked, angrier than myself.

A sudden surge of courage cascaded over me. I was going to do what she said.

“Now I see who you truly are!” I quickly recorded, tapping on sent. I did this even without thinking twice.

“I'll surely find you both!” I snapped, daring so quickly as I feared she might block me after her threat.

“Come to Elite Hotel and Suite!”

“If you wanna find us. We're here!”
