Chapter 1

My nanny, Lucci Eyre, liked to call herself an independent, modern woman.

She used to tell me every day to be self-reliant, do my own laundry and cooking, take care of the kids by myself, and even suggested that I divorce my husband.

Later on, I found out that she was actually a social media influencer. Without asking for my permission, she made a series of videos trying to make me look pathetic as a Stepford wife. She also stole my jewelry and clothes. After I fired her, she accused me in the live stream of being a rival female competitor and pandering to men.

Then one of her crazy fans tricked her way into my home and poisoned me.

When I woke up again, I was reborn to the day I discovered that her social media account had millions of followers.

‘Since you're so into live streaming and making short videos, why not show everyone who you really are and let them see the independent woman that you are?’

The first thing I did when I was reborn was to set up hidden cameras in every room of my house.

After the workers finished the installation and left, I lay down on the couch and pulled out my phone to watch Lucci's live stream.

Lucci had just started her live stream. "I've got the groceries. Soon I’ll have Blair cook her first dish ever."

The comments were rolling in fast, and before long, Lucci's live stream had five thousand viewers.

[I have to watch Lucci coach Blair every day.]

[May no more Stepford wives in the world.]

[Lucci is amazing. She only took half a month to get Blair into the kitchen.]

As I read through the scrolling comments, my expression darkened.

Lucci was introduced as a nanny for my household by an agency half a month ago.

At first, I thought she was too young for the job. But after a week, I was impressed by her skills. Not only did she know everything about cooking and childcare, but she also spoke a foreign language.

Lucci mentioned that she came from a small village and had to hustle to make it to the city. To become a top-notch nanny, she shelled out 20,000 dollars for three classes.

I was so impressed by her story that I gave her a raise on the spot.

Since then, Lucci had changed.

She kept on drilling it into my head every day, saying I was like the canary my husband, Russell Twin, had at home and that I shouldn't just be a housewife but should be an independent woman.

In my past life, I totally bought into it.

I did all the housework and cooking and took care of the kids.

Meanwhile, Lucci, the nanny I hired, just stayed at home all day and slept until noon,

instead of doing her job. And she treated me and Russell differently.

She told me not to try to please men or treat my husband well. She said it was Russell’s fault that I couldn't support myself financially and advised me to divorce him.

However, when Russell was at home, she would make him coffee and water, help him undress, and give him a massage.

When Lucci brought up the idea of getting a divorce, I accidentally found out that she was actually a social media influencer with millions of followers. Her account was filled with stories about me.

In her videos, I was portrayed as a woman who couldn't live without Russell, and she was the big heroine who was trying to save me. But after watching a few videos, I realized that the stories were all made up by her.

Not only that, but she also did live streams from time to time to share with her followers how she coached me, "the wealthy housewife".

In a few of those videos, I even spotted some jewelry around her neck that I had lost.

In my previous life, I caught her stealing stuff. I thought about calling the police, but she got down on her knees and begged for forgiveness.

I was a bit of a softie, so I just let it go.

However, Lucci broke down in the live stream that day, accusing me of dismissing her because I suspected her of having an affair with my husband.

She also claimed that I was engaging in intrasexual competition and spread false stories to tarnish my reputation by portraying me as someone who flattered men and disliked women.

She said I was really nice to the male driver, but really tough on the female nanny.

She cried that I destroyed her reputation in the housekeeping industry and thus she lost her career there.

The narratives she spun were readily embraced by numerous girls, who subsequently resorted to derogatory epithets towards me.

A crazy fan of hers tricked me and became my nanny, and then she gave me a cup of poisoned water.

After I passed away, Lucci quickly married Russell.

She only came to my house as a nanny in order to get close to Russell and become the wife of a wealthy family.

"I'm online. I'm gonna live stream everything. Everyone, hit the like button."

A familiar voice came from my phone and I quickly snapped out of it and just turned off my phone.

‘You like to play the heroine, huh?

‘Well, go ahead and make a name for yourself in this life.’

Chapter 2

"Blair, I got some beef. Let me show you how to cook beef today," Lucci exclaimed as soon as she walked in the door.

I looked her up and down, and then it hit me.

There was something strange about her buttons. It looked like she was hiding a camera there.

"Blair, come to the kitchen."

I didn't respond, so Lucci went into the kitchen herself with the beef.

When I followed her in, she grabbed her apron and put it on me.

I hesitated and said, "I don't want to do this."

Lucci smiled kindly and said, "Blair, don’t be silly. We agreed to learn how to cook today.

To become an independent woman, you should be able to take care of yourself, including cooking your own meals."

"What do you do if I cook?" I asked her, “Lucci, haven't you forgotten that I hired you as a nanny, not as my mentor?"

Lucci was completely shocked, her face showing a hint of disbelief.

I wasn't surprised at all by her expression.

Ever since she brainwashed me, I almost took her words as gospel, truly believing that I could survive on my own just by making a perfect housewife.

Lucci quickly managed to control her expression and said to me, "Hey, I'm not trying to lecture you or anything. I just want to help. You seem like you rely on others for everything. If your husband doesn't need you one day, how will you survive on your own?"

She looked at me with a sincere expression, as if she really had my best interests at heart.

I chuckled coldly, "You're overconcerned. We signed a prenup before we got married.

Even if he doesn't want me, it's still my money. Without him, I'm still rich. There are plenty of people who can cook for me.

“Lucci, you need to know your place. You're just a nanny. I'm richer than you even if I'm broke. You don't have to worry about me surviving. I've made it this far without relying on a man or you."

Lucci's face turned pale, and after a few seconds of silence, she actually teared up.

Since the audience couldn't see her, she cried out in an exaggerated manner.

"Ma'am, I know I'm poor and you look down on me, but I'm also doing this for your own good. It really hurts me when you say things like that about me."

“You just told me I can't do anything and cursed me with divorce.

“Did you care about my feelings? And now you feel hurt when I simply mentioned that I’m richer than you.

"Since you're struggling financially, why don't you do a better job? Maybe in the future, if I’m happy with your job, I'll give you a raise. It’s not easy to have a well-paid job. So, don't worry about me."

She compressed her lips, wanting to say something, and then obediently went to cook the beef.

I went back to my room and checked her live stream, only to find the comments were rolling.

[What's happening? So Blair isn't just a Stepford wife who depends on a man, but actually a wealthy bigot herself?]

[You can't just think she's better than others because she has money. Look at how upset

Lucci is because of what she said.]

[I told you Blair won’t change. She's only been doing well for a few days, and she's already back to being a Stepford wife.]

[And you call this a Stepford wife? Haven't you heard that she's rich herself?]

[It's not her own money. It's her parents'. What's the difference between her and a Stepford wife?]

[I think Blair's right. I mean, as a nanny, Lucci lets her employer cook for her. Do you guys think that’s reasonable? And Blair is so stinking rich; she’s on a whole other level from us for like forever.]

After all, it was Lucci’s live stream. Even though some people spoke up for me, most of them were still criticizing me.

Everyone seemed to think I was clueless and they all wished for something bad to happen to me, or for someone to make me bankrupt just because I didn't respect independent women.

Just reading those comments made me feel like I'm watching a comedy show.
