Chapter 1
My wife's dad, Philip, was in a car accident and needed a blood transfusion. The hospital's blood bank was in urgent need!
Only my wife's blood type matched.
I called her, and her assistant answered the phone provocatively.
"She's cooking me a birthday dinner."
"I don't care what she's doing. Get her to the hospital right away."
She didn't come, and eventually, her father died in hospital.
I calmly messaged her.
"From now on, there will only be that assistant in your life.
We are divorced."
She didn't reply to me until noon the next day.
"As you wish!"
"Hasn't the patient's daughter been contacted yet?"
A nurse hurried out of the operating room.
"The patient is bleeding more and more. If he doesn't receive a blood transfusion, his life will be in danger. Quickly notify his daughter to come."
I was so anxious and panicked that I hurriedly took out my cell phone to call my wife.
Tara Lawrence, my wife, was very impatient when she received my call!
"Ronan, are you done yet? I'm just spending my assistant's birthday with him. What do you mean by calling me again and again?"
"Come to the hospital quickly. Philip was in a car accident and urgently needed a blood transfusion."
"That's enough, Ronan. My daddy is so good to you, but you joked about his safety. You're so unreasonable."
Tara's voice was filled with anger.
"No, I..."
Before I could finish, the call was hung up.
I was stunned and quickly called back again.
"Sorry, the number you dialed is turned off..."
I couldn't believe that Tara would turn off her phone. Even if she didn't believe me, since this was about Philip's life, wasn't she really afraid of what might happen?
No, Philip treated me like his own son, I can't just stand there and watch him die.
I forced myself to calm down and rushed out of the hospital in a hurry.
I remembered that Tara's assistant lived in Room 701, Building 15, Bay Lane!
When I got there, I crazily banged on the door!
It was Tara who opened the door, wearing an apron and holding a spatula in her hand.
She had never cooked at home, because she said the kitchen fumes would damage her skin. But now she was actually cooking for an assistant.
But I didn't have time to care about all that. I grabbed her hand.
"Follow me now!"
She shook it off violently and questioned coldly.
"Ronan, what's wrong with you?!"
"There's no time to explain. Go to the hospital now."
"Stop!"
Her assistant, Wilson James, rushed out of the room and grabbed my wrist tightly.
"Mr. Sharon, what are you going to do?"
I looked at the nightgown he was wearing and found it extremely dazzling.
"Is it necessary to wear pajamas to celebrate your birthday?"
Anger flashed through my mind, but when I thought of Philip still lying on the operating table, his life hanging in the balance, I forced myself to suppress my anger.
"Tara, Philip really got into a car accident, and he needs you to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion to save his life. Only your blood type matches."
When Tara heard this, the cold look on her face turned into a sneer.
"Ronan, is this your way of winning my favor? Are you trying to trick me into going back by using my dad's safety as an excuse? You really make me sick."
"What?"
I stared at her blankly, feeling extremely absurd.
She thought I was using Philip's safety to win her favor? To trick her into going home?
How could she have such an idea?
The person lying on the operating table was her biological father, Philip who treated me like his own son. Even if I were a beast, I would never joke about Philip's life.
Did she think I was worse than an animal?
Wilson smiled and said, "Mr. Sharon, I know you are anxious, but please be patient. Ms. Lawrence will go back after spending my birthday with me. Don't worry, I will take good care of her."
I saw pride in his eyes.
Chapter 2
"Shut up!"
I yelled at Wilson.
"Ronan, are you crazy?!"
Tara immediately protected Wilson behind her and stared at me angrily.
Seeing her defending Wilson, my heart ached.
I thought, "Wilson is just an outsider. I am your husband and your family.
To protect an outsider, you said that I was crazy?"
Looking at Wilson who was looking at me provocatively from behind her, I suppressed the pain in my heart and knelt in front of her.
"Please, Philip really had a car accident, and he is in the hospital for emergency treatment. Please come with me."
Tara was a little moved.
In all the years she had been with me, she had never seen me kneel to anyone.
Seeing that Tara was a little shaken, Wilson's face changed, and he spoke immediately.
"Ms. Lawrence, what Mr. Sharon said is simply impossible. Did you forget that you have called your dad half an hour ago?"
After saying that, he questioned me harshly.
"Mr. Sharon, what's your purpose? You know that Sir Lawrence's safety is the top priority of the company, but you are joking about his life."
"If something really happens to him, what good will it do you?"
What vicious words!
I glared at Wilson and ignored him. Instead, I looked at Tara expectantly, hoping that she would believe what I said.
But I was disappointed!
She looked at me with cold eyes, as if she was looking at an enemy.
"Ronan, you really disappoint me. I didn't expect you to be such a person."
"I'm going to say this today. Even if something happens to Philip, I can take charge of the company. It's wishful thinking for you to take over the company."
"So this is how you see me," I thought.
After an extreme disappointment, I became calm and looked at her without any emotion in my eyes.
"You have to think clearly. The person lying on the operating table is your biological father. If anything happens to him, you will regret it for the rest of your life."
Tara's face changed!
"Mr. Sharon, are you threatening Ms. Lawrence?" Wilson pointed at me and shouted, "You dare to threaten Ms. Lawrence with Sir Lawrence's life?"
Wilson snorted.
Tara's face turned cold again.
"I, Tara Lawrence, have never been threatened by anyone in my life. Ronan, get out of here right now. I don't want to see you."
Wilson immediately put his arms around her waist.
"Don't be angry, Ms. Lawrence. The soup is still simmering in the kitchen. Go in and watch the fire before it gets burnt."
After saying that, he gently patted Tara's butt in front of me.
"Hey!"
Tara blushed and walked into the kitchen with a twist of her waist.
Watching them flirting in front of me, I didn't feel angry at all. I was as calm as if I was watching a strange couple.
"Ronan Sharon!"
Wilson looked at me arrogantly.
"You see it, right? Ms. Lawrence doesn't like you at all. She loves me. Sooner or later, she will be mine, and the company will be mine too. You will get nothing."
"Go away now. Don't disturb us!"
He slammed the door shut.
They were inside the door!
While I was outside the door!
Just one door away!
I could clearly hear their laughter in the kitchen.
I thought, "Philip, it's my fault. I couldn't bring Tara back to the hospital."
I clenched my fists, turned around, and ran back to the hospital.
Chapter 3
Philip had been transferred from the operating room to the ward. He was sitting on the hospital bed, looking at me with bright eyes.
I was delighted.
Could it be that the hospital found another source of blood and Philip was out of danger?
"Well!"
The doctor patted my shoulder.
"Spend the last time with him."
Only then did I realize that Philip was not out of danger, but was having a last gasp. I suddenly felt panicked.
"Dad!"
Philip smiled kindly, showing no fear of death at all, but I could see a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
Because Tara didn't come here.
“Philip, I...”
"No need to tell me. I understand you."
Philip waved his hand.
"You are not wrong. I am wrong for not educating Tara well."
Philip was like this. Although he was the chairman of a large company, he always took the blame on himself and was very popular among his employees.
"I have asked the company's legal advisor to come over. When I pass away, the company will be handed over to you. I believe you will not disappoint me and will make the company stronger."
"Dad!"
I knelt beside his bed and cried!
Although I adopted Tara's name, Philip did not look down on me. On the contrary, he always respected me and often scolded Tara for taking a poke at me.
I regarded him as my biological father from the bottom of my heart and couldn't accept his death.
The company's legal advisor arrived quickly.
"Mr. Zayn, has the will been drawn up?"
"Here you are!"
Mr. Zayn took out the will!
Philip forced himself to sign it and then patted my hands.
"Ronan, I feel relieved to leave everything to you."
His breath was getting weaker and weaker.
"No!"
I screamed like crazy.
"Doctor! Doctor! Come quickly!"
Philip passed away on a sunny morning, and he was unable to see Tara for the last time before he died.
I would hate Tara's cruelty and heartlessness. I would hate my incompetence. I would hate Wilson's interference even more!
I gave my first order.
"Tara and Wilson are not allowed to walk in the company again."
They didn't deserve it!
I received a call from Tara at noon three days later when I was arranging the burial of Philip at the cemetery.
She yelled at me on the phone, "Why don't you let Wilson and I enter the company? How do you dare to do that?"
I said coldly, "Of course I have the right. The company is already mine."
"What nonsense are you talking about? The company belongs to my father and me. You are just an outsider who married into my family."
"Philip has given me all the shares of the company."
"Impossible. I am Philip's daughter."
"Believe it or not!"
I hung up the phone and continued to preside over Philip's funeral.
Outside of the company's building!
Tara looked angry.
"I'm so mad! How dare he to hang up my call?"
Wilson added fuel to the fire.
"It's impossible for Sir Lawrence to hand over the company's shares to him. He must have used some tricks."
"Yes, that must be the case!"
With hatred, Tara called Mr. Zayn and questioned him very impolitely.
"Mr. Zayn, what's going on with the company's shares? Did Ronan use some tricks?"
"Not at all. When Sir Lawrence was alive..."
"Wait. 'Was alive'? What are you saying?"
"Sir Lawrence had suffered a car accident last night and then died in hospital."
Tara stood still in great shock, holding her phone.
