Chapter 2

Charlie's POV

I tossed the phone aside, switching the group chat silent. I took a cold shower until I calmed down and flopped on the bed.

“Healer Penelope, I want abortion.” I made a call, taking the final decision.

“Luna…” She tried to say something but could not find the right words. Maybe she saw everything too.

“Okay. I will schedule everything.” She said.

“Good.” I hung up the call, opening my laptop, preparing everything to participate as a volunteer in the frontline.

It was always my dream, I wanted to be like my father and brother who carried out the family legacy. But I let it go after getting married to Jenson. I wanted to be a qualified Luna and a loving wife. But in the end, I was still the second best and I hated it.

“Since he has others now, my existence is no longer important.” I mumbled, filling the application.

Meanwhile, Jenson entered inside, beaming with happiness. His hand was still checking baby products on his phone.

“What are you doing?” His eyes were still glued on the phone.

“Applying in the frontline.” I said deliberately to notice his reaction. But as usual, Jenson didn't even pay any attention.

“Okay.” With this, he again grossed into his phone.

The silence was too heavy for us to bear. His hand habitually reached to get the almond milk I prepared for him everyday but found the cup empty.

“Charlie, why is this empty?” he frowned, finally looking up from the screen.

“I didn't make it.” I said bluntly.

Jenson furrowed his eyebrows, the hint of irritation cleared in his voice, “Charlie, what's wrong with you?”

“Where were you last night?” There was no need to play the role of a loving wife. Everything was scattered by Jenson himself.

“So this is it.” He acted as if he discovered my little secret, “I was with Ashley. She is back in our pack. You know, as an Alpha of the pack, it's my duty to take care of every member.”

“Even to feed her children falls on your duty?” I no longer cared about anything.

Jenson ran his hand through his hair, frustrated. He groaned, “Charlie, don't be so petty. He is still a child. Ashley just divorced her husband but that child still needs his father.”

“So, you fulfil that duty.” I let out a dry laughter.

“Charlie, can you not start again?” He was running out of patience but a ring on his phone stopped us from going on.

Sure enough! It was from Ashley.

She sounded pitiful and innocent, “Jenson, can you please come? Ave doesn't want to sleep and is crying.”

Jenson looked at me. Guilt washed over his face. I looked away, knowing his decision.

“Okay I am coming.” He hung up the call and moved closer to me to explain but I pulled the quilt, lied down pretending to sleep, sparing him no chance.

My half opened eyes traced Jenson’s back as he was leaving.

I never heard anything from Jenson after that. Later in the evening, my phone buzzed with a notification.

It was sent by Fedrick, Jenson's Beta.

[Luna, Alpha Jenson is doing his duty. You should understand him.]

Understand my ass! I shrugged my shoulders, shutting the phone off.

But the peaceful time didn't last long, when I opened the group chat again.

I promised myself last night that I would never look at it, but my muscles moved on its own.

Ashley sent another photo last night.

[Thanks to Jenson for singing the lullaby. He can be a great father.]

In the photo, they were in the same bed. Between Ashley and Jenson, Ave, Ashley's son was sleeping, holding Jenson’s hand.

Everyone was prasining once again.

Some even found Ave resembled Jenson, hinting that Jenson might have cheated on me and had a secret relationship with Ashley.

Unconditional love had no meaning but sadness.

The sobbing sound was loud, vulnerability gushed over me when I dove my eyes in the pillow and weep until my eyes were red.

After draining out my emotion, I chose to think of myself only.

[Congratulations! You guys should stay together.]

This was the last comment I sent on the group chat before turning my phone off, I packed my back.

I wanted to travel with my child for the last time before letting it go.

“Baby, mamma can't keep you this time.”

I cried, before leaving I placed my most cherished wedding ring on the bedside table.

I travelled for two days in the countryside. During that time, I felt like I was alive again. Never turning on my phone, I kept myself away from the chaos.

Later, when I took the high speed train to come back, Healer Penelope sent me an email on my laptop. She scheduled the abortion procedure but needed Jenson's signature.

I turned on my mobile and called her.

“Why is Jenson's signature needed?” My voice was rough.

“Luna, Jenson is the alpha of our pack, we have to confirm it from him.” I could feel how much she was sweating by her voice.

I pursed my lips into a thin line as my heart sank.

Chapter 3

Charlie's POV

“Okay.” I replied dimly, trying not to add more worries on the Healer.

I looked outside the door of the train, the track was as lonely as myself.

When I reached home, no one was there as usual. I entered my room and encountered the same tangerine scent.

“Ashely was here!” I frowned, clenching my fists. So Jenson didn't leave our bedroom either. As I was thinking hard, I stumbled on something. Picking up, it was a panty which didn't belong to me. A woman’s panty in our bedroom. I almost went crazy in anger but no tears came out of my eyes anymore.

“So they stooped that much low.” I threw the panty aside and lit a scented candle to get rid of the disgusting smell.

When I finally relaxed, I opened the group chat. There was again the same gossip.

“So, Alpha Jenson finally ditched Luna?”

“Of course, she was just a distraction. Alpha Jenson always had a soft spot for Ashley, he still has.”

“Distraction?” I repeated the word, my heart was pained so much like it was being pierced by a knife.

I didn't want to think anymore and took two sleeping pills.

The next morning, I woke up as usual and prepared to go to my office. Even if Jenson betrayed our relationship, I couldn't neglect my duty as a Luna. But to surprise, Jenson prepared breakfast– steamed beef bao and simp roll. He didn't ask me where I was either.

The aroma of the food broaded me there as I picked up the beef bao. As soon as I took a bite, Jenson held my hand shouting, “Charlie, it's not for you. You can have the simp roll.”

That was right! Only then did I remember that beef bao was Ashley's favourite.

I could not hold back my anger anymore, my voice cracked facing Jenson.

“Jenson, we have been married for five years. Didn't you know I can't have seafood?”

Tears rolled back my eyes, finally facing the man I loved unconditionally for the whole damn seven years.

Jenson had an unusual expression on his face. He cleared his voice and reasoned with me, “Charlie, I'm sorry. Don't get mad, alright?”

“Where are you going? Let me drop you.”

“No, thank you for your kindness.” I frowned, pushing away his hands which was on my shoulder and went upstairs.

When I came back, I had a bag with me.

“Jenson, it's Ashley's. Return it to her.” I almost threw the bag on him.

Jenson caught it quickly, after finding the panty, he looked down. Guilt and fear took over his eyes.

“It was here.”

I nodded, and didn't probe further. I slid my hands under the coat and left.

Soon, I drifted into work. Since I was leaving, I couldn't put my pack members in any difficulties.

I sorted out everything about security and financial data which I was in charge of and explained to my subordinate.

Overworked, I could finally forget Jenson and Ashley.

But soon, Beta Fedrick called me, “Luna, come to the Assembly Hall.”

Assembly Hall was not something which summoned anyone casually. Since they asked me to go there, it must be important.

I quickly drove there. But the situation was rare. It was nothing but Ashely’s returning of the pack. The elders and members were present there.

Behind the large wooden table, Jenson was sitting with Fedrick. He still had pride, his pride was bigger and more important than mine.

I wanted to laugh, watching the drama.

“Ashely Morris, who divorced her husband from another pack, wanted to come back in our Pecher Moon Pack. Hope no one had any objection.” Jenson cleared the air.

“What about you Luna?” Nana Jen, an Elder, asked, looking at me.

She looked helpless, after all everyone could witness the hypocrisy.

I was leaving anyway, my opinion didn't value anything.

I shrugged my shoulders, “No problem.”

I set aside the crowd, resting my face on my palm, enjoying the view outside when Jenson handed me over a sugar-coated strawberry.

“Here, have it.” Jenson insisted, “You used to beg me for this.”

Looking at the candy, I recalled the past when I asked Jenson to get me some sugar-coated strawberries.

“Charlie, how old are you? Remember you are already thirty. Grow up.”

Remembering them, I didn't want it anymore.

“Oh.” I mumbled, still looking outside. Getting no answer from me, Jenson spoke again.

“I have something to discuss with the Elders. After that let's leave together.”

He left quickly. After fifteen minutes, I heard Ashley's voice, giggling and running behind Jenson like a little girl.

“Jenson, look at you. How can I have so much?” Her hand was filled with different types of candies.

I chuckled, putting aside the candy, I left.

Jenson followed me, “Wait up. Why don't you have it?”

“Jenson, I'm empty stomach. Having the candy will hurt my body.” My voice gave no emotion, “Have fun, I can leave alone.”

Coming home, I packed everything. After abortion, I would leave forever.

Jenson came around 10 PM and noticed the half-empty wardrobe while taking his pajama. His brows were knotted for a moment before relaxing, but he didn't ask anything.

“We are going to the Silver Jest Pack for a business trip, want to tag along?” He asked, wiping his wet hair.

“No, thanks.” I focused on my work, ignoring his existence.

Jenson was furious. He snatched away my laptop.

“Charlie, what's wrong with you?” He hissed in anger, “Can you stop acting like this?”

“I already told you that Ashley can't be alone with her son. She had no family here, no one. As her friend I should accompany her. Why are you being petty?” He growled.

“I didn't even say anything.” I looked at him, irritated, “Jenson, do whatever you want. It doesn't concern me.”

I snatched the laptop back from his hand and glued my eyes on the screen.

“Don't come to disturb me.” Saying the last sentence, I focused on my work again.

“Charlie, you grew your fang too much these days.” Jenson gritted his teeth, trying hard to suppress his anger.

“If I leave here right now, remember I will never look back, even if you beg me to come.”

Jenson thought so highly of himself. After all, it was not his fault. All these years, I gave him my unconditional love, taking care of him and loving him became my habit whereas he took everything for granted.

“Jenson, can you stop now?” I didn't have anything for him anymore. For some reason, I didn't hate him either.

My feelings for him became numb. Jenson’s sandalwood pheromone scattered everywhere in the room again, suffocating the last bit of breath of mine.

“Charlie, you remember this.” Clutching his fist, he grabbed his phone before leaving the door with a loud bang.

The night Jenson spent in his cabin, no one went there to look for him.

For the first time, I did not humble myself in front of his feet and begged mercy.

Everytime Jenson scolded me and gave me cold shoulder, it was my routine to please him. But now it was different.

Fedrick sent me a message later

[Luna, Alpha Jenson is already busy with so many things. Can you stop adding pain to his injury?]

Wow! Now even beta had the right to lecture me.

Tsk! I turned off the phone.

When I met Jenson the next day, his eyes were on the newspaper.

“Pick a venue and ready everything for a Welcome Party.”

Chapter 4

Charlie's POV

“Welcome Party? For whom?” The answer was clear but I wanted to listen to it from Jenson's mouth.

“It's for Ashley, obviously.” Jenson was still in cold self, “Did you forget that?”

“Right.” I chuckled calmly, “I will arrange it.”

“This will be the last time.” I thought while staring at my fingers.

For Jenson, it was not an unreasonable deed to ask his present wife to throw a party for his ex. He was so nonchalant as it was my duty to please Ashley.

“Prepare it for tomorrow.” He looked up, asking me to say yes.

“Okay. Let me arrange everything now.” I nodded.

“Let the Butler accompany you.” He voiced again.

“Hmm.” Simply humming, I headed to the door but Jenson called me out, “Chary!”

Being surprised, I looked back.

“Take this card.” He forwarded his credit card to me.

I smirked, leaving the card untouched, “I don't need it.”

I turned my back and left. Even though I was not there to watch his expression, I knew very well how angry Jenson was and he could have broken the credit card by his hand.

While driving, I was thinking how Jenson only called Chary when he needed me.

It was draining to care! I looked at the sky and grinned.

The next morning everything was ready. I called Jenson,”Hey, remember to check everything here.”

My words were crisp and clean. Jenson was silent for a while before humming.

Later at night, I received it on my phone when I was having my favourite snacks.

[Charlie, as Luna, you should be present here. Oh! Remember to grab some snacks for Ave.]

“Interesting!” Mumbling I picked up my purse and drove to the venue.

When I entered the ball, everyone looked at me as if they saw a ghost. Even Fedrick's face was darkened.

Jenson was still busy accompanying Ashley and her son. He was feeding cake to Ave with fatherly love. My heart sank watching the moment. I subconsciously caressed my tummy.

‘My little baby!’ I gulped hard.

When our eyes met, Jenson stopped and his expression filled with frustration.

“Why are you here?” He asked, irritated.

“Jenson, don't blame Charlie.” Ashley wrapped her hands around Jenson and acted coquettish, “I wanted her to be here, that's why I tricked her from your phone.”

Well, when I received the message, I knew very well that she was the one who sent me as Jenson never sent me any messages but I wanted to enjoy the drama for the last time and came here.

“You little dummy.” Jenson patted her head affectionately while she was looking at him doe eyes.

“You should've told me.” He smiled, too delighted to be cold.

The three looked like a family whereas I was an outsider. Taking a chance of their family time, I stretched the document for his signature.

“Jenson, you need to sign here. This needs your approval.”

I deliberately covered the Abortion part and showed him the papers.

Ave still clung to Jenson and he didn't have the time to notice and signed hastily.

“Okay, I am leaving.” I took paper and put it inside the bag.

“You are done here?” He narrowed his eyes.

“Yeah. Enjoy your time.” I smiled, pulling myself together.

“Attend a meeting for me.” He asked to show the foreign company’s client.

“Okay.” We entered a private room together leaving Ashley behind whose eyes darkened.
