Chapter 4
Frank's surgery lasted two hours. As soon as he left the operating theater, he immediately posted a video.
In the video, Frank was wearing a hospital gown, sobbing with snot and tears everywhere. "I'm Frank Myer. The deputy chief of urology, Janet Rice, is my attending doctor and also my wife.
"Just now, I suffered damage to my private parts because I accidentally took some medicine Janet had left at home. But when I went to her for help, she didn't even bother to ask if I'd taken any medicine. She just ordered a bunch of useless tests, deliberately stalling and making my condition worse!
"Even when another excellent deputy chief, Doctor Karen White, insisted on conservative treatment, Janet refused to listen and forced me into surgery. Alas, the surgery failed, and now, I've completely lost all the functions of my private parts!
"Janet, I know you're under a lot of pressure to get promoted, but you can't just use me to boost your numbers. You've turned me into a eunuch forever! How are you going to make this right?!"
The video had just been posted, and one could tell Frank was still groggy from the anesthesia and barely awake. Still, he was clearly impatient enough to get his statement that he had prepared out as soon as possible.
Sure enough, it set off a huge uproar online, with vicious attacks pouring in.
[This Janet Rice wants to profit from her husband's misery, doesn't she? He lost his manhood, but she got her numbers up!]
[I swear this woman must have a lover outside somewhere! She even screwed over her own husband! What kind of a woman is that?!]
Among all the insults, one comment stood out.
[Doctor Karen said from the start that conservative treatment was enough. She's clearly a good doctor with both ethics and skill. Why not let Doctor Karen treat Frank and see if she can pull off a miracle?]
That comment started a commotion. Soon, people online were all demanding that Karen step in. Karen saw the comments too. In front of the reporters, she put on a humble act. "I'm just an inexperienced doctor, nowhere near as experienced or skilled as Doctor Janet. Nevertheless, for the patient's sake, I'm willing to give it a try!"
Instantly, applause filled the hospital ward. Someone even suggested making Karen the chief on the spot.
If they weren't still putting on a show, Frank and Karen would have been grinning from ear to ear.
Just then, I walked into the room and told Frank, "You brought this on yourself by taking medication haphazardly. Conservative treatment won't help you at all, so you and Karen can stop wasting your time."
To my surprise, Frank burst out laughing.
Before I could say anything, Karen came over to mock me. "Doctor Janet, you've got guts, showing your face here. Aren't you afraid the netizens will recognize you and throw rotten eggs at you?"
I shot back, "I didn't do anything wrong. Why would anyone throw eggs at me?"
Karen sneered, thinking I was just bluffing. "You're still acting tough when you're at the end? Move aside. I'm going to give Frank his conservative treatment now. Once I cure him, the chief's office will be mine!"
I looked at Frank, acting surprised. "You're really going to let Karen, a doctor on admin duty who can't even tell one medicine from another, treat you? Aren't you worried she'll ruin you for good?"
Frank rolled his eyes. "Stop playing pretend. The whole story about the failed surgery is just something I made up. You and I both know your surgery was a huge success. I'm already back to normal, so even if Karen just wipes me with some alcohol, I'll still be cured!"
I then asked him, "How can you be so sure the surgery was a success?"
Frank grinned. "You idiot. Would I have risked taking all those drugs if I wasn't absolutely certain? I'll tell you the truth… I've regressed. Just like last time, you performed the surgery quickly and perfectly!"
While Frank was busy gloating, the hospital director hurried in to explain things to the media. "There's nothing wrong with our hospital's procedures! There's no way the surgery failed!"
Frank sneered at him, "If the procedures were fine, then the problem lies with Janet. She deliberately messed up my surgery!"
But the hospital director just looked at him in confusion. "What does Janet have to do with it? Right before you went into surgery, she handed me her resignation. She didn't participate in your operation at all."
