Chapter 5
After hanging up the call, I put my energy into my career again.
Although I had been locked up in a villa by Kevin in my previous life, fortunately, there was a television. My favorite thing to do every day was to watch the news.
So I knew every opportunity to make profits in ten years, and that the real economy would slowly move towards depression.
In the previous life, Kevin missed the opportunities, and the Morgan family's business suffered a great loss. He was reluctant to vent his anger on Maria, so he had to take it out on me.
He beat me so badly that I had to hide in a corner.
At that time, I was thinking that if God gave me another chance, I would not choose to work in a hair salon that summer.
Then, my life might not have ended up like this.
Then I received another call from Kelly. She told me that she was getting married and asked me to witness her wedding.
I said, "No, I'm busy."
Kelly mocked, "Why are you pretending? Don't think I don't know anything just because I haven't been to college. Didn't you just have fun with your classmates, skip classes, and play games?"
I sneered in my heart. It turned out that the opportunity to study that I had given up with great pain in my previous life was wasted by Kelly. No wonder she couldn't find a good job after graduation.
Even as an ordinary college student who had never participated in any competition, she would not be fired frequently if she worked hard and had a good resume.
Kelly had high expectations but lacked the skills to achieve them. Even though she was incapable, she always complained about how hard her work was. When other colleagues went off work, she still had to work overtime to revise the returned documents.
That was why she finally blamed me for everything she had suffered.
Kelly was still showing off.
"I'm telling you, Stella, even if you go to a good university, you won't succeed. In the end, you might even have to work for me.
"Kevin said that as long as we get married, I can get half of his property. Then you and I will be in a different class. You must always look up to me."
I sighed. Kelly who had been spoiled by our family since she was a child was fooled but still felt proud.
Kevin was not that stupid. After he and I fell out in the previous life, he told me clearly that I could not take a penny of the Morgan family. The house and car were all his premarital properties and had been notarized long ago.
I would like to advise Kelly not to have such unrealistic ideas.
Kelly said, "Stella, don't envy me. Let me tell you a secret. If I hadn't given you that chance to go to college, you might have been the one marrying Kevin.
"But it's too late now. He has fallen deeply in love with me and will marry me."
...
I gave up my idea of advising her.
Since Kelly was so keen on my past life, I had no choice but to give it up.
"Okay, then I wish you and Kevin will always be together and love each other till old age."
Chapter 6
For a long time after that, I didn't answer Kelly's call again.
I knew she should be experiencing a rich life now.
The project I was working on was a huge success. After I earned the first substantial income in my life, I paid in full for a house in the capital, which was extremely expensive. The house had three bedrooms and a living room and was large enough for my parents to live with me.
They kept praising me, but then they suddenly mentioned that Kelly hadn't called them for a long time.
Mary said that since Kelly met Kevin, she often lost her temper with them at home.
Kelly even said, "If you weren't poor, how could I have such a humble background? You are not worthy of having children at all."
"Stella, do you think Kelly has gone insane? How could she say such things? She used to be very well-behaved."
Mary shed tears as she complained, and I felt extremely angry when I heard this.
To give birth to Kelly, our family spent a lot of money. Mary also became ill after that and would have constant abdominal pain when doing heavy work, so she had to find some easy jobs far away from home.
I raised Kelly. At that time, I had already been admitted to junior high school and I was required to live in the school dormitory. However I was afraid that no one would take care of Kelly at home, so I delayed it for three years and went to junior high school with her so that I could take care of her.
So when she came to me in my previous life, I thought she was there to save me.
I didn't expect that she would be so cruel as to push me off the stairs and say such vicious words to our parents.
My dad Jack took a puff of his cigarette in silence, and then spoke amid Mary's crying, "Don't cry, have you forgotten what she told us before she left home?
"She said she was afraid that the Morgan family would disdain her background, so she wanted to cut off ties with us. Why are you still crying for her? Just think that you have given birth to an ungrateful person."
I sneered. Kelly would give up everything for her ideal life.
But it was better this way. She would not disturb my life and I could have peace.
But the good times didn't last long, and soon I received a call from Kelly.
When I had just got home from work late at night, I received a call from a strange number.
I was afraid it was a call from a client, so I answered it. The other party sounded timid and even trembling, completely different from the Kelly who had come to show off before.
The call was probably made secretly, so her voice was very low.
"Stella, did you do this on purpose? You knew about the Morgan family's situation and that Kevin was not abnormal, right?"
I was angry.
"What do you mean? Isn't this the life you wanted?
"You tried every effort to marry Kevin, even at the cost of severing ties with our parents. Why are you dissatisfied now?"
When Kelly heard this, she was furious and yelled, "You were also reborn! Stella, you plotted against me!"
