Chapter 1
Who would have imagined that now only Murphy stood firmly by her side.
She nodded with red eyes, but the next moment, the phone on the table vibrated a few times.
She opened it and saw a photo sent by Edith.
In the photo, Parker and Edith were watching fireworks and having dinner at a resort.
In the photo, Parker’s smile was one Cornelia had never seen before.
In the three years since their marriage, Parker had never once smiled genuinely in her presence.
Cornelia closed her phone, not wanting to look anymore.
But the scene in the photo kept playing in her mind.
For a moment, she lost her appetite.
Just then, dazzling fireworks suddenly erupted outside the restaurant, large blooms rising into the sky, breathtakingly beautiful.
“Don’t worry about her. What she has, you will have too.”
Murphy spoke softly.
Hearing this, Cornelia’s heart trembled, and rare ripples formed in her heart.
After dinner, the two of them were taken to the same hotel room by several men in black suits.
A group of people surrounded them, as if afraid they would escape.
Cornelia’s sense of shame grew even stronger, and she felt her face burning.
Distracted by her thoughts, Cornelia didn't watch where she was going and tripped over the long-pile carpet, her body crashing uncontrollably into Murphy's arms.
She slowly lifted her head, and as their eyes met, both felt awkward.
Cornelia could sense Murphy's body stiffen.
He then spoke in a strained voice:
“You go to sleep first; I'll sleep in the bathroom.”
He quickly placed Cornelia on the bed and then went into the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of water could be heard from the bathroom, but there was no steam rising, and it continued all night long.
Cornelia lay in bed, trying to wrap herself tightly in the blanket and plug her ears with a pillow.
Even so, she couldn’t sleep all night.
She dared not think about why Murphy had been taking a cold shower all night.
The next morning, Murphy, dressed neatly, took Cornelia home and left.
Seeing Cornelia’s neat appearance and clean, fresh body, aside from the dark circles under her eyes, there was nothing unusual.
It seemed this attempt had failed again.
Parker fidgeted impatiently with the bracelet in his hand, and accidentally broke them.
The red-brown beads rolled onto the ground, and suddenly a dog darted out, almost picking them up to play with.
“Cherry, don’t eat them!”
Edith ran over, panting, and quickly grabbed the leash.
Seeing Cornelia’s shocked expression, she suddenly remembered something and explained sheepishly.
“Sister, the warter pipe at my home is leaking, so I have no choice but to bring Cherry to stay with you for a while. You won’t mind, will you?”
Perhaps because she had run too quickly, her white shirt was damp with sweat, slightly transparent.
Parker stood up, took off his jacket, and draped it over Edith, then led her inside.
“Her opinion doesn’t matter. I’m the boss who say so in this house.”
The two passed by Cornelia, but Cornelia didn't have time to feel sad.
She was allergic to dog fur, and the dog fur floating in the air now made her tear up and sneeze uncontrollably.
“Parker, I'm allergic to dog fur. I won't let them stay here.”
Cornelia coughed uncomfortably a few times and hurriedly blocked the door.
Parker pushed her aside without mercy.
“If you’re allergic and it bothers you, just stay away from the dog. Move aside.”
Parker led Edith and the puppy past Cornelia, and the puppy even shook off a bunch of fur onto Cornelia.
The puppy, Cherry, was very lively. Even in a new place, it wasn’t afraid at all, running around everywhere and exploring its new territory.
Cornelia had no choice but to lock herself in her room and quickly take some allergy medication.
Even so, Cornelia’s allergies were severe, her body turning red and swollen, and she even had difficulty breathing.
“Help! Save me!”
Cornelia screamed desperately, but her voice was pitifully weak. She fell to the ground and struggled toward the door, hoping someone would notice and save her in time.
However, Edith and Parker were playing with the puppy in the courtyard, and the servants were all busy with their own tasks, so no one noticed Cornelia's plight.
No matter how much Cornelia shouted, no one came.
When Parker finally noticed Cornelia had fainted, he merely frowned and called Murphy.
Chapter 2
“Murphy, Cornelia has fainted due to an allergic reaction. Please take her to the hospital.”
“If you don't come, then let her struggle by herself.”
After honking twice, Parker left Cornelia's side.
He glanced at the unconscious Cornelia but ignored her.
He knew Murphy would definitely come.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, Murphy drove straight into Parker’s yard.
“Where’s Cornelia?!”
He followed the maid’s instructions at top speed and found the unconscious Cornelia.
In a daze, Cornelia caught the fresh scent of mint again.
Opening her eyes, she saw Murphy’s face.
It was him again.
He had saved her for the second time.
After spending half a month in the hospital, Cornelia was finally able to be discharged.
Under Parker’s arrangements, Murphy had taken care of her for the entire half month, rarely like a shadow of her.
She had gone from initially rejecting and numbness to gradually growing accustomed to Murphy’s presence.
She had always seen him as a younger brother, but now she felt he possessed a thoughtfulness and maturity even Parker lacked.
On the day of her discharge, Murphy couldn’t pick her up due to prior commitments, so Parker sent her an address, inviting her to attend a charity auction.
She had never enjoyed such events and was about to decline, but as she flipped through the auction catalog, she suddenly spotted a set of emerald jewelry!
It was her mother’s heirloom, a family treasure!
Cornelia didn’t know how the set had ended up at the auction, but she had to retrieve it.
She changed into her evening gown and took her seat before the event began.
As the auctioneer described each item, Cornelia struggled to steady her breathing.
As each item was sold to different bidders, Cornelia remained unfazed.
Her goal was clear: the emerald jewelry set.
However, Cornelia wasn’t sure if the money she had was enough to secure the set.
She clenched her fingers tightly, waiting.
When the auctioneer finally brought out the emerald jewelry set, carefully describing its features, and announced the starting bid of “50 million,”
Hearing this price, Cornelia’s heart sank instantly.
She hadn’t realized that the money she had was barely enough for the starting bid.
Most of her assets were shares and properties, and she couldn’t mortgage them in time.
Just then, Edith, for some reason, also raised her paddle, as if she had set her sights on the jewelry set.
But clearly, the jewelry set was too old-fashioned, not something Edith would like.
Suddenly, Edith glanced back at her, her smug expression like a bucket of cold water poured over Cornelia’s head.
Sitting beside Edith was Parker, whose financial resources were more than sufficient to acquire the jewelry set.
Cornelia had no choice but to bite her lip repeatedly, contemplating her options.
In the end, she lowered her head and appealed to Parker for help.
“Parker, please, lend me the money. I want this set of jewelry. Please!”
Cornelia’s eyes were filled with pleading. This was the first time she had ever begged Parker so humbly.
For a moment, everyone looked at Cornelia with strange expressions.
It was as if they were saying, “If you don’t have the money, why are you buying it? Is this thing really worth borrowing money for?”
Cornelia didn't care about the stares; she kept begging Parker over and over.
But Parker remained unmoved.
As Edith kept bidding, and the jewelry was about to be hers, a young voice rang out from behind,
“One hundred million!”
Cornelia turned sharply and saw Murphy, tall and graceful, who seemed to have rushed over, still carrying the cold air from outside.
He raised the corners of his mouth slightly, giving her a reassuring smile.
“Sorry, sister, I’m late.”
At that moment, her heart began to race wildly.
With Murphy’s help, Cornelia successfully bid on the emerald jewelry set.
When she touched her mother’s heirloom, tears streamed down Cornelia’s face uncontrollably.
She gently caressed the jewelry, as if feeling her mother’s warmth.
It was time for the auction to end, and the crowd suddenly grew larger for some reason.
Fearing Cornelia might be bumped into, Murphy pulled her away from the crowd.
Chapter 3
After it ended, the two were taken back to the same room.
Cornelia had expected to sleep on the bed and Murphy on the sofa, as before, but this time, something felt off.
An unnatural sweet scent lingered in the air. Murphy felt so hot he tugged at his tie, and even his breath felt scorching.
Cornelia felt even more heated, her face flushing with an unnatural blush. The familiar sensation returned, and she realized they had been drugged again.
She never expected Parker to find an opportunity to drug them at such a time—what a hassle!
Seeing Murphy about to head to the bathroom for a cold shower,
Cornelia closed her eyes, steeled her resolve, and embraced Murphy’s waist.
“Since they’ve gone this far, why should we keep enduring it?”
Meeting his shocked gaze, Cornelia smiled.
“Murphy, I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’ve made up my mind—give me a child, okay?”
Seeing the intense heat in Murphy’s eyes, Cornelia didn’t hesitate and kissed his Adam’s apple.
His Adam’s apple, smeared with lip gloss, looked even more sensual as it rolled up and down.
“Sister, this time, you’re the one who provoked me.”
Murphy kissed her back, no longer hiding his desire, invading her freely.
Their clothes fell off layer by layer, and the intimate atmosphere grew hotter and hotter, until they both fell onto the bed together.
…
After a night of passion, Cornelia struggled to piece together her shattered body, dressed herself, and shared a knowing glance with Murphy.
Since Parker was willing to be betrayed and facilitate their relationship, they might as well enjoy it!
The two of them took care of everything, and when Parker saw them again, they were dressed neatly, as if nothing had happened.
Parker felt something was off, but didn't think much of it and continued to push harder.
From then on, wherever Cornelia went or whatever she did, she would always encounter Murphy.
However, things turned out smoother than Parker had ever anticipated.
Because Cornelia and Murphy no longer resisted, but instead embraced it as a form of intimacy.
Bang!
Two cars collided while trying to avoid another car’s erratic driving.
Fortunately, the accident wasn’t severe, only causing some dents on the front and rear of both vehicles.
“Brother, I didn’t mean to this. My family is poor; how can I afford to compensate you?”
Cornelia got out of the car and deliberately leaned out of Murphy’s window, looking tearful.
Murphy immediately understood Cornelia’s playful intentions, curled his lips, and cooperated fully:
“Since that’s the case, sister, get in the car, and we’ll discuss the compensation issue.”
Ten minutes later, the Maybach began to shake violently.
Anyone could tell what was happening inside.
Murphy kissed her lower and lower, leaving more and more kiss marks on her snow-white body.
“Sister, this is so soft. Can I kiss it?”
“Sister, can I touch it?”
“Sister, can you move?”
Each time, Cornelia blushed fiercely, hugged him tightly, and fully enjoyed this crazy moment.
Afterward.
Cornelia’s phone rang again.
It was another provocative photo from Edith.
In the past, seeing those photos would always break her heart, but now, she felt no sadness at all.
She even had the mood to chat with Murphy, mentioning places that looked fun and suggesting they go together next time.
Hearing Cornelia daydreaming about their future, Murphy’s smile grew deeper.
A message suddenly popped up on her phone. It turned out that the long-dormant high school classmate group had become lively again, with everyone saying they hadn't seen each other in years and wanted to get together.
Cornelia suddenly smiled and said, “Do you think Parker will use this opportunity to bring us together?”
“I think so.”
Murphy kissed Cornelia on the forehead, and the two shared a smile.
