When I stand in the sales office and watch my best friend beat me to purchasing the foreclosed property I have my eye on, I finally know for sure that she has been reborn too.

In my previous life, both my best friend and I had some savings. She invested all her money in the stock market, while I decided to buy a house to live in.

Since I didn't have much savings, I ended up buying a foreclosed property where a murder had taken place. But inside the ceiling cavity, I discovered a safe containing ten million dollars in cash and over a dozen gold bars.

Kate Thompson's voice rang in my ears, and I stared at everything in front of me in shock.

The real estate agent, Angela Shaw, looked at me somewhat awkwardly, then said to Kate, "I'm sorry, miss, but she saw this property first."

"So what? She hasn't paid yet. I'll pay first, so it's mine."

After looking at her determined expression, I understood. She had been reborn too.

"Miranda, I want this house too. Why don't you look at some others? There are plenty of similar properties in this complex," Kate said.

When she said this, her expression was somewhat probing. I knew she was trying to see if I had also been reborn.

I snapped out of it and frowned. "Fine then. If you like it, you can have it. I'll look at others."

Upon hearing me say this, Kate breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to make the deal with Angela.

Angela cleared her throat. "Ms. Thompson, I need to remind you that a murder had occurred in this house, which is why the price is so cheap. Are you sure you want to buy it?"

"Absolutely. The killer has already been caught, so what's there to be afraid of? Besides, I'm not going to live..."

Kate stopped mid-sentence.

I smiled slightly, knowing what she meant. In my previous life, I had some savings and was tired of constantly renting, so I decided to buy a house to settle down. However, I didn't have much money, and properties within my budget were few and far between.

Finally, Angela showed me a house where a murder had occurred. A married couple who had lived there got into domestic disputes, and the husband killed his wife. Later, the husband was arrested and sentenced to life in prison, but the house became a murder house that few people wanted to buy.

After understanding the situation, I decided to purchase the property. After all, no ghost could be scarier than being broke.

But later, I discovered enormous wealth in that house, while Kate fell into the lowest point of her life. So this time, she wanted to steal what originally belonged to me.

She flashed me a mocking smile. "You'd be better off taking your money to invest in stocks. Maybe they'll skyrocket, and then you could buy a big house."

I pretended not to understand her meaning and asked back, "This house still has several thousand dollars in monthly mortgage payments. Are you sure you can afford them?

"After all, you don't have much savings, so making the payments might be difficult. If you need it, I could help you out."

Kate had just enough money to cover the down payment. Provoked by my words and thinking about the enormous fortune awaiting her, her temper immediately flared.

"Who says I can't? I'll even pay in full cash. Don't even think about competing with me. This is mine!"

Angela hadn't expected her to be so passionate about this property. Full cash payment was naturally the best option, so she immediately set me aside and focused all her attention on serving her.

"Excellent, Ms. Thompson. How would you like to make the payment?"

Having already made the declaration, she naturally couldn't take it back in front of me. Kate pulled out a card.

"I'll pay part of it now, and I'll give you the rest in three days. That should be fine, right?"

Angela took the card and nodded happily. "Of course, there's no problem. Let's go sign the contract then."
