Chapter 1

My husband came home drunk, bringing another woman with him for the night.

And he had the audacity to act like I wasn't even there.

Hmph, let's see if your fists are stronger or if my knife is sharper.

Tick-tock.

The clock on the wall showed 3 a.m.

I checked my phone—May 20th.

Just as I was about to get up to go to bed, the doorbell rang.

I froze for a moment before walking casually to open the door.

Standing there were a man and a woman.

The man was my husband, Kevin Sterling, clearly wasted.

The woman, I didn’t recognize.

When she saw me open the door, she smiled lightly and said, “Kevin’s drunk. I’m just helping him back.”

I reached out to help him, but the woman stepped in front of me, clearly blocking my way.

I raised an eyebrow and stepped aside.

The woman supported Kevin and walked in as if I didn’t exist, the two of them clinging to each other, completely ignoring me, not even pretending to be discreet.

I watched them for a moment, tilting my head.

The next instant, I stormed forward, grabbing Kevin by the collar and yanking him back with a stumble.

"Kevin!" I spat, my voice cold. "You’ve been ignoring my calls and texts, and now you're here with this woman?"

Kevin seemed to come to his senses a little.

Standing up straight, he shouted, “Elena, why aren’t you sleeping at this hour? What’s your problem?”

I laughed.

My problem?

If memory serves, I probably called you at least thirty times, didn’t I? You ignored all of them, didn’t reply to my messages. And now, it’s 3 a.m., and you come home with a woman. And somehow, I’m the one who’s causing a scene?

I picked up a glass of water from the table and, without a second thought, splashed it in Kevin’s face.

Kevin shook his head, wiping the water off, now more awake, his eyes filled with anger. "Elena!!! You threw water at me?"

I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could say anything, Kevin slapped my arm.

My anger flared up, boiling over.

Countless thoughts rushed through my mind. In my rage, I lost all sense of control and lunged at him, hitting him with everything I had.

At first, Kevin was caught off guard, but once he recovered, he didn’t hold back. He fought back, matching my fury.

The woman, watching from the side, saw the chance and lunged at me, grabbing my hair and pulling.

So this was going to be a two-on-one fight.

The sharp pain in my scalp brought me back to my senses, making me realize what was happening.

I seized the moment, shoving the woman into Kevin’s arms before scrambling to my feet. I ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and came back out.

Hmph.

You want to fight me with fists, do you?

Let’s see if your punches are stronger, or if my knife is sharper.

Chapter 2

The woman froze when she saw the knife in my hand. She no longer clung to Kevin, acting all seductive, and didn't dare approach me. Instead, she took a step back, hiding behind Kevin.

Kevin’s eyes shifted nervously, clearly sobering up.

But pride wouldn't let him back down. His face flushed with anger and humiliation, he took a step back, but still tried to act fearless. “Elena, come on, go ahead and chop! You’ve really lost it now, want to kill your husband? Well, I’ll see about that.”

I watched the woman behind him, who gave him an adoring look.

I kept a cold expression, and without hesitation, swung the knife at him.

But unfortunately, I missed. The blade sliced through the air, cutting a piece of his jacket.

I sneered. “Don’t you want to fight? Come on. Kevin, you’ve really changed. I’ve been married to you for five years, cooking, cleaning, taking care of your parents, and now you bring another woman home to beat me? Come on, let's fight this out today.”

Kevin's face went stiff, and his hand slowly retracted.

The woman behind him saw the shift in momentum and immediately let go of Kevin, turning to flee, not forgetting to slam the living room door shut behind her.

I didn't care about that. My eyes were fixed on Kevin.

He probably felt embarrassed, and once again, his face turned red with rage as he shouted, "Elena, you want to go to the extreme, huh? I’ll make sure you’ll obey me today."

As he spoke, he lunged forward to snatch the knife from my hand.

He looked so fearless. Ha!

I swung blindly, fueled by both fresh and old grudges, eyes shut tight.

The sound of the blade swishing through the air echoed, and I opened my eyes.

I missed again!

But Kevin had already closed in on me.

A sharp slap landed across my face.

My right ear rang, my head snapped sideways, and the sting was unbearable.

Kevin had no intention of holding back.

I squeezed my eyes shut and forced down the emptiness in my heart.

Filled with resentment, I swung the knife once more.

The next second, a blood-curdling scream pierced the air.

Kevin’s arm was bleeding profusely.

Despite the hatred inside me, seeing so much blood for the first time made my legs feel weak.

By now, Kevin was completely sober, and he was crying out in pain, "Elena, what the hell are you doing? Are you really trying to kill me? Hurry, take me to the hospital! Ah… it hurts like hell…”

He pressed his hand to the wound, trying to stem the bleeding.

For a brief moment, I hesitated. I really didn’t want to help him. I almost wanted to let him bleed out and die.

But then, a cold clarity took over—this wound wasn’t fatal. He wouldn’t bleed to death from this.

In just a few seconds, I turned around, grabbed a towel to press against the wound, and swiftly grabbed my phone and keys to take Kevin to the hospital.

The bill would be settled later.

The debt? That would be repaid in full.

...

The wound wasn’t too deep, but it definitely wasn’t shallow either—thankfully, no bone was visible.

After a round of tests, they confirmed it hadn’t damaged the bone, but he would need stitches.

The doctor working the night shift kept glancing at me, eventually unable to resist speaking quietly, “In a marriage, what can't be resolved through conversation? Why resort to violence? If things really go south, you’ll regret it too late.”

I lowered my gaze, remaining silent.

Seeing my response, the doctor sighed again. “If something really happens, you’ll still be held legally accountable.”

I raised my eyes and nodded lightly. "I understand. I won’t be so excessive in the future. It’s just… he was drunk..."

The doctor paused, shook his head, and didn't say another word.

Without anesthesia, Kevin screamed like a child while they stitched him up. His yelling annoyed the doctor, who shot him a cold glare. “You’re a grown man! It’s just a few stitches. Stop acting like this.”

Kevin immediately went silent, but his body trembled in quiet sobs, and it was oddly satisfying to watch.

Once the stitches were done, Kevin immediately started dialing his phone, calling anyone he could, with one main message: I stabbed him, and now he’s at the hospital.

What a character, calling people at five in the morning.

I saw the flood of calls from his relatives and quickly turned off my phone.

Since I had kept a cold expression the entire time, Kevin didn’t dare speak to me.

That is, until the doctor told us we could go home.

I turned to leave, but Kevin grabbed my sleeve. “Elena, I’m sorry.”

He apologized quickly, just like every other time.

I closed my eyes, forcing down the rage inside me, and turned to help him. “Actually, I was wrong too…”

Let’s see who can act better.

As we walked out of the hospital, the sky had started to lighten, the first hints of dawn breaking through.

It was like the countless sleepless nights that had turned into dawn.

Chapter 3

I never imagined I would be reborn three years into the past, before Kevin's family had pushed me to the brink of despair.

In my past life, the same scene unfolded on this very day. However, I didn’t have a knife at that time, so in the end, it was me who ended up beaten black and blue by Kevin and that woman. One of my hands even got fractured.

But Kevin didn’t care whether I lived or died.

Seeing that I no longer resisted, Kevin, without a second thought, wrapped his arms around the woman and led her into our bedroom, right in front of me.

At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to die.

In the end, I had to drag myself to the hospital. Alone, I went through the emergency room, spent a long night, and endured endless pain all by myself.

But back then, I was too weak, too blinded by love.

Later, when Kevin sobered up, he rushed to the hospital, groveling and apologizing, making all sorts of promises. And foolishly, I forgave him.

I closed my eyes, thinking about what happened in my past life. I felt like I deserved it.

In the past, when my mother-in-law fell ill, I gave up a promising career and devoted myself to taking care of her day and night.

After my mother-in-law recovered, Kevin told me that because she was getting older, we needed to prepare for having kids. So, I buried myself in housework, becoming a full-time housewife.

I did that for several years.

From a vibrant young woman to someone buried in chores, gradually turning into a tired, worn-out housewife. I even believed my mother-in-law’s words, thinking I wasn’t capable enough, that I couldn’t make money, and that I couldn’t keep my husband in check.

For years, countless nights, I waited for Kevin in despair, under the dim glow of the lights.

He was always out at various gatherings, with endless clients to entertain, and endless drinking to do. Every time he drank, he would ignore my calls and messages. Sometimes, he’d stagger back home in the middle of the night, knocking on the door, and sometimes, he wouldn’t come home at all.

I thought about divorce countless times, but I always stopped because of his remorse after sobering up.

I kept convincing myself, kept forgiving. While Kevin promised me the world, he’d move his assets around without a care.

Not only did he hide his own money, but he also mortgaged the house my family had given me.

In the end, he tricked me into borrowing from various loan sharks, claiming that he had lost money in a business deal with friends.

When we divorced, all I got was two hundred thousand in loans, and not a single penny for myself.

Meanwhile, Kevin, after pretending to be poor for a few years, moved into a luxurious mansion with a beautiful woman, living a carefree life.

It wasn’t until I found out about Kevin’s situation by accident and was later forced to death by debt collectors in a run-down, filthy apartment that I woke up.

That man wasn’t human at all, he was a wolf dressed in human skin.
