Chapter 2
"Isn’t this your short-lived friend from the orphanage?"
He sneered and kicked my gravestone. "What, trying to play the pity card again? Or do you want to go down there and keep being sisters with her?"
Three years ago, my best friend was taken from the orphanage by the wealthy Summers family in Chicago and became their real daughter.
The night before her rescue, she was almost kidnapped.
I was the one who pretended to be her, got abducted, and was killed.
After my death, Emily cried bitterly and begged the Summers family to call the police and seek justice.
But they refused.
They thought it was too trivial—after all, I was just an orphan without status.
If the truth came out and she was targeted again, it would be too dangerous.
Emily had no choice but to bury me with honor and investigate on her own.
Only after death did I learn the kidnappers had been hired by the fake daughter Natalie, and Ethan knew!
Afraid the Summers family would discover her scheme, he personally urged them to abandon the case.
And now you dare insult me at my grave? Bastard!
No, I can’t tell my bestie the truth yet.
She’s a fragile pregnant woman—I can’t let her be shaken.
[Turtle, go with him. Let him see whether you should have an abortion!]
Emily glared coldly at him.
"Don’t worry. I wouldn’t dare die before dragging you two down first."
"You! Still so stubborn, aren’t you? Let’s see how you explain to my parents when we get back to the hospital!"
Furious, Ethan dragged her back.
Natalie, clutching her belly, stepped forward with red-rimmed eyes.
"Sister, don’t take this too hard. The doctor said your life will be in danger if you don’t have an abortion!"
"Even though you accidentally hit the table’s corner while pushing me, we’re sisters. I won’t blame you!"
She sobbed pitifully, as though she truly feared losing Emily. [What the hell is this bitch pretending for? Hit her already!]
No sooner had I finished than my bestie slapped her across the face.
"Accident? You pushed me on purpose!"
Natalie covered her cheek and collapsed into Ethan’s arms.
"Sister, I know you’ve always resented me and Aye, but that night really was an accident!"
"You didn’t want me having his child, so you pushed me…
I know you’re broken over losing your baby. You can scold me, even hit me—but don’t throw your life away!"
Ethan held her tightly, distressed, then slapped my bestie.
"Emily! You’re cruel, you harm others, and now you get what you deserve! You couldn’t protect the child, and you still dare blame Natalie?"
"Fortunately, Heaven has spared you—let this be your punishment. You deserve it!"
[Fuck you, scumbag! You rotten cucumber, how dare you hit my Turtle? Go to hell!]
I shoved hard inside my bestie’s stomach. Thud!
She spewed the full contents of her stomach all over the bastard and that shameless mistress.
"Ahhhh!"
Natalie, so pitiful a moment ago, shrieked and frantically shook her skirt.
Ethan’s designer suit was drenched in filth.
"Ugh!"
Natalie gagged and vomited.
"Who said my baby’s gone? I’m still having severe morning sickness!"
"Doctor, my baby isn’t dead—he just kicked me! If you don’t believe it, check again!"
The doctor looked at her with pity, but couldn’t refuse.
After instructing the nurse to settle her back in bed, he picked up the equipment.
Moments later, his face changed sharply.
"This is impossible—the fetus’ heartbeat is back, and…"
Chapter 3
"And its gender has changed! The last exam showed it was a girl—how could it now be a boy?!"
At that moment, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson, who had just arrived, lit up with joy. "Doctor Andrew Miller, what are you saying? Is this true?!"
Their voices trembled with excitement.
They had believed Natalie’s claims and rushed here to confront her.
They never expected such a surprise!
The doctor pointed at the ultrasound and nodded eagerly.
"Yes, Master and Madam, please look. This is the first time the young master has fully faced the camera!"
"It was a misjudgment from the angle earlier. Congratulations, Master and Madam—your grandson is safe!"
The elderly couple beamed with joy, while Ethan and Natalie turned ashen.
"How could this be? How is this possible?!"
If this was true, the boy in Natalie’s womb was no longer unique!
Back then, the Summers and Lawson families had agreed to marry without much fuss.
When Emily was missing, the Summers family adopted Natalie, and after years of grooming her, the Lawson family accepted her.
She grew up close with brothers William Lawson and Ethan. Until Emily was found, the Summers family, to atone, let her choose her husband first.
My best friend loved the refined, steady William, but Natalie cried and refused.
Heartbroken, Ethan schemed to have her drugged at a banquet, forcing her to sleep with him.
She had no choice but to marry him.
Meanwhile, Natalie married William as she wanted.
But soon after, William died in a plane crash.
Her dream of becoming a rich wife shattered. She turned to Ethan, the heir.
Right after the funeral, she claimed grief and wanting company, slipping a love potion into his wine.
After one wild night, she became pregnant before my best friend!
When Old Man Lawson learned the truth, he was furious and demanded an abortion, but Ethan protected her, swearing, "Natalie is pregnant with my child. If you harm her, I’ll kill myself! Dad, can you bear to see our family line end?"
Enraged, Old Man Lawson finally gave in. To hide the scandal, he claimed Natalie was carrying William’s posthumous child.
But two weeks later, my best friend also discovered she was pregnant.
By six months, Natalie was scheming to frame her.
She flaunted the fact she carried a boy while my best friend supposedly carried a girl, poisoning the in-laws’ minds.
Thankfully, the Lawson couple still felt guilty, so they cared for my best friend carefully.
Now, seeing both children safe, they murmured prayers.
"Thank goodness, thank goodness."
"Doctor, could you be mistaken? You said my sister was carrying a girl, and the heartbeat was already gone!" Natalie forced a smile, unwilling to accept it.
The doctor simply smiled. "The angle blurred the view before. The young master has a strong will to live. He’s blessed to have pulled through!"
Natalie nearly fainted from rage, clutching her belly and wailing in pain.
Ethan hurriedly helped her to another ward.
Inside my bestie’s belly, I sneered.
[Can’t take it already? Just wait, your suffering is only beginning!]
In the following months, both my best friend and Natalie entered the labor stages.
Natalie’s pregnancy was grueling—morning sickness, constant urination, sleepless nights.
Meanwhile, inside my bestie’s womb, I behaved, never pressing on her organs.
Chapter 4
Natalie’s face grew more haggard by the day, her temper more volatile.
My best friend, by contrast, had a rosy glow, radiating gentle maternal warmth.
At every ultrasound, I fully cooperated and put on a show.
I even interacted with the Lawson couple as they watched. The doctors were amazed.
"Oh my! It looks like the young master is greeting the old master and madam!"
"Is this the bond of blood? Truly, this child is destined to be with you!"
The couple’s faces flushed with joy. Mrs. Lawson even reached out and gently laid her hand on my bestie’s belly.
Then I did something that stunned everyone.
I stretched out my chubby little hand and pressed against hers, palm to palm, through the belly!
"My dear grandson! We’re touching palm to palm!"
Mrs. Lawson trembled with excitement, tears welling in her eyes as she raised her hand high.
"Look, old man! My grandson was born to love me!"
Grandpa Lawson hurriedly pulled out his phone, snapping picture after picture.
"Record this! Such a clever child, destined to be the Lawson family’s pillar!"
The two were already planning my birthday gift.
Outside the door, Natalie clenched her fists in fury. A twisted smile flashed across her face, as if she had made up her mind.
In the end, Natalie forced herself to go into labor at the same time as my bestie.
We delivered together at the Lawson Group’s private hospital.
I had adjusted my body long before, and the instant my best friend was set on the delivery bed,
I used my hands and feet, sliding out with a “gulp!”
The doctors and nurses froze in shock.
"This—! I’ve never seen a birth so smooth! What an angel baby!"
I cried loudly, lying in my bestie’s arms and winking at her.
[Good Turtle, see how amazing I am!]
She hugged me, crying and laughing. "Yes! My little angel, I love you!"
The Lawson couple rushed to embrace me, and I stopped crying at once.
I held up my tiny rosy hands toward them, bowing repeatedly.
"Look! The young master bowed and greeted his grandparents again! This really is a destined bond!"
Overjoyed, Old Master Lawson thrust a share transfer document into my arms, while the old lady slipped her heirloom jade bracelet onto my bestie’s wrist.
"My dear daughter-in-law, you’ve given our Lawson family great honor!"
Before my bestie could respond, Ethan stormed in.
"Dad, Mom! You should check on Natalie too! She’s in agony and needs the whole family’s support!"
After a few instructions, the old couple left for the next ward.
Inside, Natalie screamed in misery.
Hearing that my bestie had delivered in under twenty seconds only made her more desperate to compete.
When the doctor warned the baby was large and might need a C-section, she refused outright.
But the malposition nearly caused a massive hemorrhage.
After a night of torment, her child was finally born.
Natalie lay half-dead, utterly drained. The hospital buzzed with gossip: the Lawson family had two grandsons—one a grateful angel baby, the other a debt collector.
Grandpa Lawson, in high spirits, named me Alexander Lawson, symbolizing wisdom, brilliance, and initiative.
He named Natalie’s son Lucas, because he cried endlessly.
Natalie fumed, while my bestie beamed, hugging and kissing me.
"Good baby, that’s wonderful!"
But I stayed cautious, knowing Natalie had deliberately timed her delivery with mine for her own schemes.
