Chapter 1
It was a sunny afternoon in our Crescent Moon Pack. My phone suddenly rang, shattering my meditation time. I checked who was calling, and I knew I must answer. It was Jane, my elder sister. We love each other so much and would do anything for each other.
“My Luna,” I said into the phone as I greeted my sister with a smile. She is the Luna of our pack. Though I have reasons to be jealous of her, because Alpha was initially mated to me but chose my sister over me, I give them my total support and respect. Luna fits Jane better me. She was born to rule.
“Nico darling”, my sister’s sweet voice came across the phone. Warmth spread across my heart and I smiled like a Cheshire cat given milk. My sister always knows the right words to use.
“Why did you call, Luna?” I asked her. I know she is always busy with pack affairs and must not waste her precious time.
“I need your help Sis. Please tell your alpha that we are together. I am working on an important project right now. I want to make it a big surprise for him . I will tell you the details later. Okay?”
“Okay Sis.” I answered and heard the click of the phone. It was the usual for me to cover for my sister whenever she was having any of her secret ‘projects’. I didn’t give it much thought until few hours later.
I was taking a nap when I heard running feet outside my door. I thought I was still dreaming but then I heard loud banging on my door. The door was pushed open and I saw alpha George storm in with six enforcers. His handsome face was scrunched up in fury, his normally grey eyes turned fiery red, probably the manifestation of his wolf. Before I could wonder what was happening, George snarled at me.
“Where is Jane?”
I don't know how to answer that question, so I stammered something out.
“W-why do you w-want to know?”
The enforcer closest to me growled at me.
“You will show your respect to the alpha!” I apologize and bowed my head to honour the alpha. That actually brought me some time to gather my thoughts. Before I could come up with something pleasant, George snarled at me and asked me another question with gritted teeth.
“Were you with Jane today?”
I remembered my promise to my sister.”
“Y-Yes.” I stammered, nodding vehemently like an agama lizard.
“Then why did you leave her in that condition?” I was lost, I don’t know the condition Jane was left in, so I kept mute.
“Nico, how can you be this heartless to your own sister? What else do you want her to do for you?” I am really confused now, I don’t understand what George was saying.
“George, I don’t…” He interrupted me.
“I am your alpha! And you will address me as such.”
“My alpha, I am sorry.” I bowed my head penitently.
George growled and the enforcers moved closer to me.
“Your apology is coming too late. Even Jane will not accept it.” What does he mean?
He waved at his Beta, who came in after him. The Beta stepped out and decreed.
“Nico Ravenwood, you are banished from Crescent Moon pack, for causing your Luna’s miscarriage.”
“What?” I shouted in surprise. “Which miscarriage?”
George stormed at me and pinned my neck to the wall. He squeezed my nect so tight that I could hardly breathe. I beat his hand to loosen his hold upon my life. He finally released me, stared at my face in agony mixed with deep hatred.
“I wonder what I ever saw in a useless wolf like you. You are a pathetic liar.”
He threw a command at the enforcers as he stormed out of my room.
“Throw her in the dungeon. She will be charged to court.”
“Yes Alpha.”
Within minutes, I was dragged out of my house and thrown into the wolves’ dungeon, for a sin I did not commit.
Chapter 2
I was dragged into the cold and dark dungeon of our pack. It was my darkest period, I was thrown into the darkest depths of life. There, I was tormented for killing the pack's future heir, or so alpha George believed.
I screamed until my voice was hoarse, but no one came to my aid. The dungeon's cold, damp walls seemed to be closing in on me as the enforcers continued their relentless torture. I was beaten, whipped, and left to rot in the darkness.
Days blended together in an endless blur of agony. I lost count of time, unsure if it was day or night. The only sound was the dripping of water and my own labored breathing.
One of the enforcers, a burly man with a scar above his left eyebrow, took great pleasure in my suffering. He'd sneer, taunting me with cruel words, telling me I'd never see the light of day again.
As the torture continued, my body began to shut down. I felt my life force ebbing away, my spirit weakening. But my mind remained sharp, fueled by anger and a desire for justice.
In my final moments, I saw Jane's smirking face, her eyes gleaming with triumph. I realized she'd orchestrated my downfall, using me as a pawn in her game of power. She paid me a visit in the dungeon, her smug expression faltering for a moment.
"Nico, dear sister," she said, her voice laced with venom. "I see you're still clinging to your naivety, even in death."
I glared at her, my anger and hurt boiling over. "You used me, Jane. You let them kill me for your sins."
Jane shrugged, her smile returning. "You were always so blind, Nico. I needed a scapegoat, and you fit perfectly. Your little crush on George made it easy to manipulate him against you."
My eyes widened in horror. "You snatched him from me? You knew how I felt about him!"
Jane's laughter was like ice. "Oh, Nico. You were just a plaything for George, a distraction until he realized his true mate was me. And I made sure he saw it, too."
I felt a searing pain, as if my heart was being torn apart. "You're a monster, Jane."
Her smile grew wider. "I'm a survivor, Nico. And I'll do whatever it takes to keep my power."
I realized then that Jane's betrayal went far deeper than I ever imagined. She had manipulated everyone, including George, to get what she wanted.
“How can you do this to me, Jane? I caught you cheating on alpha George with Mike his brother. I did not report you because you are my sister and you promised to change.”
Jane sneered at me. “You are so stupid that you irritate me! Mike is my true love, don't you know? I am building a house with him in the capital. I sold my wedding jewelry for that reason and maxed out George's second account, saying I used the money to settle your gambling debts.” She winked at me and laughed gleefully.
Fresh tears ran down my face at the betrayal. “Jane, I don't even know the difference between the cards. How can I gamble?”
“Doesn't matter. The truth is what I say it is. After all, I am the Luna.”
What I should have been. I felt as if my heart was squeezed within me, but I vowed that Jane's treachery wouldn't go unpunished. Even in death, I would find a way to make her pay.
With a surge of adrenaline, I spat at Jane's feet, defiance burning within me. "You'll pay for this," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
An enforcer who saw this rushed into the dungeon and charged at me, raising his foot to deliver the final blow. He thought I was insulting his Luna. If only he knows the truth. I closed my eyes, ready to meet my end.
But as the darkness claimed me, I felt a strange sensation, like my spirit was being torn from my body. I saw myself floating above, watching as my lifeless form slumped to the ground.
And then, everything went black.
I found myself in a realm beyond the living, a place where shadows danced and whispers echoed.
Chapter 3
The gentle whisper of the moon goddess soothed my enraged spirit, calming the turbulent storm within me. I felt a warmth spread through my being, as if the goddess's words had absolved me of the guilt and shame that had haunted me in life.
"It's not your fault, Nico," the goddess repeated, her voice like a soft breeze on a summer night. "You were deceived, manipulated, and betrayed. But your time for justice has come."
As I listened to her words, a sense of purpose ignited within me. I realized that my death was not the end, but a new beginning. The moon goddess had chosen me for a greater purpose, to bring balance and justice to the world of werewolves.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked, my spirit eager to serve.
"Return to the world of the living," the goddess replied. "Seek out the truth, and expose Jane's treachery. Rid your pack of bad wolves and live in joy for the rest of your life."
With the goddess's words, my spirit began to transform. I felt a surge of power and strength, and my determination grew. I would not rest until justice was served, and those who wronged me were held accountable.
As I lay there, I felt a gentle tug, like an invisible thread pulling me back into the world of the living. My spirit, which had been lingering in the afterlife, began to reconnect with my physical body. It was as if a spark of electricity had ignited a flame, and I felt a surge of energy coursing through my veins.
My body began to transform, my cells regenerating at an incredible rate. I felt my skin, muscles, and bones strengthening, restoring me to my former vitality. It was like a wave of renewal, washing away the damage and decay of my time in the dungeon.
As my body was reborn, my senses began to awaken. I felt the softness of the bed beneath me, the gentle caress of the air on my skin, and the sounds of the world around me. Everything seemed new, fresh, and vibrant.
Memories flooded my mind, old and new, integrating into my consciousness. I recalled my past life, my experiences, and my skills. But I also remembered my time in the afterlife, and the injustices that had been done to me. A fierce determination burned within me, a resolve to reclaim my rightful place in the world.
I was reborn, renewed, and revitalized. My heart pounded with anticipation, my senses heightened, and my spirit afire with purpose. I was ready to face the world once more, to exact revenge on those who had wronged me, and to reclaim my destiny.
I opened my eyes to find myself lying on my own bed, surrounded by familiar walls and the comforting scent of my own home.
As I sat up, a wave of dizziness washed over me, and I had to grab the bedframe to steady myself. My head spun, trying to reconcile the events of the past few hours. Had it all been a dream? A nightmare?
But as I looked around, I noticed something strange. The clock on my nightstand read 3:47 PM - exactly one hour after Jane's call. It was as if no time had passed at all.
I threw off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed, feeling a strange sense of disconnection from my body. My skin tingled, like pins and needles, and my senses felt heightened. I could smell the fresh laundry scent of my sheets, and hear the distant hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen.
I stood up, feeling a sense of trepidation. What was happening to me? Was I alive again? And if so, why?
As I looked in the mirror, I saw my own reflection staring back - but something was different. My eyes seemed brighter, my skin smoother, and my hair more vibrant. I looked... reborn.
I gazed into the mirror, my eyes burning with a fierce determination. I was back, and I had a purpose. Revenge. Jane and George would pay for what they did to me. Mike, too, would suffer for his part in my humiliation.
I thought of all the ways I could make them suffer, my mind racing with schemes and plans. I would expose Jane's infidelity, reveal her manipulation and deceit. I would take everything from her - her title, her power, her precious George.
And as for George... he would regret the day he ever doubted me, ever believed Jane's lies. I would make him see the truth, make him realize what he lost when he rejected me.
My heart pounded with anticipation, my senses heightened as I contemplated my revenge. I felt alive, reborn, and ready to take on the world.
A shrill sound cut into my thoughts, it was my phone. I checked the caller: Alpha George. The wheels are turning…
