Chapter 2

He said, "Khloe, I like you. I will definitely treat you well after we get married!

"I'll give all my salary to you.

"I heard that your salary is over $20,000 a month, and mine is $2,500. If we average it out, we will each have over $10,000!"

I was speechless.

Averaging? As poor as him?

As I was about to shake off Brycen's hand, Maura suddenly approached and put our hands together tightly.

"That's so sweet. He gives you his salary as soon as you start dating. Glad to see that you hit it off!" said Maura.

Hit it off? How absurd.

Brycen locked his gaze onto me, expressing agreement with Maura. He had said these words in his past life.

At the time, my mind was consumed by disgust from his unwanted kiss, and I didn't notice the strangeness of his words at all.

"How do you know my salary? You've asked around?" I questioned.

The expressions of Brycen and Maura turned gloomy.

Just like in my past life, Brycen grabbed my hand in the same way, and I wanted to withdraw it at that time.

However, Maura's behavior made me feel embarrassed to explain.

Moreover, Brycen was very sweet-talking, and I had concerns about my age and the possibility of not being able to find a suitable partner. These factors led me to fall into their trap.

However, this time, I resolutely shook off his hand. Before I could say anything, the doorbell rang.

Restrained by Brycen, I couldn't reach the door, but the person outside kept knocking on the door nervously.

According to the past life, no one should have come at this time.

Frowning, I watched my mother go to open the door, only to see an intruder with blood on his forehead and a sheen of perspiration covering his body.

Beads of sweat clung to his face, and I noticed that one of the lenses in his gold-rimmed glasses was shattered.

He directed his gaze towards me, letting out a long sigh. His robust figure was obviously not in line with his gentle face.

As his eyes landed upon my hands, which were still clasped by Brycen, a surge of deadly intent seemed to ignite within him.

"Take your dirty hands off her!" the man commanded.

My mother and Maura were both shocked. With his behavior, anyone would think he was a gangster.

I knew him. "Archer," I called out.

He was Archer Maxwell, my friend since childhood. After high school, he went abroad to study, and we hadn't seen each other since then.

"Archer..." Tears rolled down my face involuntarily.

In my past life, because Brycen killed my parents, Archer hurriedly returned to confront Brycen.

Sadly, he failed to avenge me and was beaten instead.

"Asshole, let go!" Archer grabbed my hand skillfully and pushed Brycen away.

Brycen was stunned. He pointed at Archer and stammered, not knowing what to say.

I gently reached out and stroked Archer's forehead, where he had been injured in our last lives.

He was stunned, his face blushing furiously.

Brycen and Maura froze, and so did I!

At this time in my past life, I was being pestered by Brycen while Maura was gaslighting me.

I even felt that I would never be able to get married. However, Archer never showed up.

From the moment I entered into marriage to the tragic event of jumping off the building, Archer had been abroad.

Casting a glance at Archer, I felt glad to have him protecting me!

With a serious face, I stated firmly, "Today is a blind date, and mutual consent is essential.

"I haven't agreed to date Brycen, yet he holds my hand and even calls himself my boyfriend?

"Is this his politeness? Is this what you call 'honesty'?"

With that, I calmly looked at Brycen's rotund face and sunken nose. It was apparent that he had crossed a line.

Seeing that I didn't give in at all, Brycen and Maura left in embarrassment.

After they left, my mother scrutinized Archer and me.

"Khloe, who is he?" she asked.

"I'm Khloe's boyfriend," Archer replied.

"What?"

I looked at Archer in confusion, while he hugged me tightly.

"You're going on a blind date while being with me? Khloe, don't go too far!" said Archer.

My mother had actually recognized Archer. Witnessing the closeness between Archer and me, she couldn't help but laugh.

I had always known that my mother loved me.

Recognizing that she wouldn't be able to be by my side all my life, she wanted to find someone who could provide care and support in her absence.

After I died in my past life, my mother went crazy and went to find Brycen. Unfortunately, she was beaten by the drunk Brycen and suffered a concussion.

Afterwards, Brycen assumed a facade of care and visited my mother, making promises to look after her until the end of her days.

My mother was not a fool, so she would naturally not give anything to Brycen just because of his verbal promise.

After a long time, Brycen realized that he couldn't get money from my parents, so he started thinking about the insurance.

He tricked my parents into going to watch the sunrise, created an accident, and received two insurance compensations.

Then, he divided the two insurance payments into three portions.

One portion was for gambling, another one was for a stripper, and the last one was for the matchmaker to find him a wife.

In the end, I gave birth to a son for him, but no one in my family survived.

However, I still wanted to know why this life was different from the previous one.

Chapter 3

"Archer..." I began to speak.

"I know what you want to say, but don't ask! Trust me," Archer reassured me.

I met his gaze.

His eyes were determined, as if he was guarding something to the death.

I had read about rebirth in novels, and recently, I read a novel about two people experiencing rebirth together.

While I knew this idea was crazy, the world was filled with countless extraordinary and unexpected occurrences.

I quickly booked a flight for my parents to Seagrad for a trip.

I was aware that Brycen would not give up easily and that he would pester my parents sooner or later.

So this time, I sent them away in advance, then opened my phone and signed myself up for various fitness classes, including boxing and physical training,

If I wanted to beat up a scumbag, I needed not only a clear mind but also honed physical strength!

Archer and I went downstairs, and sure enough, Brycen hadn't left. He knelt on one knee, holding a flower.

"Khloe, I know I'm not good enough for you, but I will impress you with my sincere actions!" said Brycen.

Archer wanted to punch him, but I stopped him.

"In a society ruled by law, resorting to violence is against the law!" Brycen protested.

I looked at the roses he had picked up from the flower bed and silently called the neighborhood association.

"Hello, is this Edith from the neighborhood association? The roses you've been carefully caring for have been plucked..."

"Who did it? Is someone from our neighborhood!" Edith asked anxiously.

Before I could hang up the phone, Edith rushed over.

She was the most famous quarreler in the whole neighborhood and had no rivals in quarrels.

Ever since her most precious potted plant was stolen a few months ago, she had hated outsiders entering our neighborhood.

Before Brycen could react, Edith grabbed him by the collar.

She snapped, "You are not from our neighborhood. How did you get in? Are you a thief?

"You are an adult. Don't you know that protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility? Did you see the sign?"

Yes, Edith loved flowers the most and liked to occupy public areas to grow flowers.

Brycen seemed to have never considered that the flower bed was Edith's personal property.

I ignored them and took Archer away.

In my past life, Brycen spread rumors about me, saying that I had been involved with numerous men and that my personal life was chaotic.

After Edith found out, she exaggerated the story and spread it everywhere, deliberately teaming up with others to isolate my mother...

She bore some responsibility for my demise as well!

Now, she was paying off a debt from her past life!

Brycen wanted to chase me, but Edith sat on him and grabbed his neck.

Behind me, screams erupted one after another. Karma had finally caught up with him.

I got into Archer's car and headed straight to the nearest gym.

I treated the bag as a representation of Brycen and unleashed a forceful kick upon it.

Archer and many fitness coaches stared at me worriedly.

"Is she here to work out? She's gonna ruin this place!"

"Should we call the manager or the police?"

The receptionist had taken out her phone. I turned to shoot a stern look at her, causing her to drop her phone in shock.

In the mirror, I realized how scary my eyes were!

I was about to say something when my phone rang.

"Khloe, something 's up!" came my mother's panicked voice from the other end.

"Brycen beat up Edith, and now Edith is at our house and wants compensation!"

Brycen beat Edith. Why was she asking us for compensation?
