Chapter 2
"Mabel, Zack said he has run out of living expenses. Transfer some money to him."
A familiar voice rang out, and I gradually regained consciousness from the intense headache.
I was reborn.
My mom didn't hear my answer, so she kept urging, "Did you hear me? Give Zack some money. A lot! He is a boy and can't be without money!"
In my previous life, she often asked me to give money to Zack. I was brainwashed to take care of Zack since I was young, so I never complained about it. I even tightened my belt just to transfer living expenses to him.
I found out later that all those so-called living expenses were used by him for gambling, and he had already been expelled from school long ago.
"Mabel! Why aren't you saying anything?
"You don't want to support Zack's education anymore?"
My mom's voice was cold. "Zack is your own brother. You're lucky to be able to help Zack!"
I sneered, "Lucky? I earned my own tuition and living expenses when I was in college. And when it comes to Zack, our whole family has to support him?"
My mom raised her voice. "You should feel grateful that we allowed you to go to college. He is the boy in the Hodgson family. It's only right for you, as his sister, to give him money!"
"You let me go to school so that I can get a higher dowry in the future, right?"
In my previous life, I got into a prestigious university. My parents couldn't bear to pay the tuition fees and wanted to marry me off to a bachelor in our hometown in exchange for a dowry of 200,000 dollars.
I told them that girls who had attended college could get a higher dowry.
Also, I promised not to ask them for a penny during my four years of college. Only then did they let me go.
My mom paused for a moment and softened her voice. "Mabel, you only have one brother. After your dad and I die, you will have to rely on Zack.
"You can't be so selfish. You have to look out for Zack more."
"You can rely on your son. I don't have any money."
I hung up the phone and took a leave from work. I needed to figure out how to leave that hellhole.
According to the timeline in my previous life, Zack had already owed 700,000 dollars in online loans.
He was addicted to gambling and wanted me to pay for him. This time, I would make the three of them regret it!
Chapter 3
I bought a WhatsApp alt account and pretended to be a beautiful internet celebrity on my Instagram.
I wanted to see how stupid Zack was.
I successfully friended Zack.
[Hi, handsome. My name is Candy. Nice to meet you!]
After he accepted my friend request, I immediately sent a message to him.
After a few seconds, he liked the latest photo on my Instagram.
[Beauty, want to go out for a meal?]
[I recently bought a car. I like to go for a drive with pretty women like you.]
I clicked on his Instagram and saw a feed full of luxury cars, watches, and beautiful women. He was no different from a rich man.
He also blocked our parents and me, so we couldn't see any of those photos.
I took screenshots of the photos one by one.
[You're so rich, handsome. What do you do for a living?]
I couldn't help but laugh.
[I envy you so much. You can go out and have fun often.]
Zack sent me a voice message, and his voice was affectedly deep, sounding disgusting. "Candy, make me happy, and you'll have whatever you want. You'll have all my money."
The hard-earned money I made was used by him to show off and hit on women.
In my previous life, I always thought he could change for the better, but I was wrong.
From now on, he couldn't take a penny from me.
I would make him pay back a thousand times for the harm he caused me before!
Chapter 4
In the evening, Zack posted a location on his Instagram.
"I'm at King Bar. Beautiful girls are welcome to join me."
I liked his post, and he sent me a message.
[Candy baby, want to hang out?]
He also transferred me 200 dollars and sent me a suggestive emoji.
I accepted the money and sent him an emoji of a shy face.
[Sorry, handsome, but I'm not available tonight.]
He didn't text back.
Then he texted me on WhatsApp.
[Mabel, transfer 5,000 dollars to me now!]
I really wondered where he got the nerve to ask me for money so righteously.
[Didn't you say you made a lot of money last week?]
Zack sent me a voice message, and I could hear the noisy drum beats as he spoke.
"Of course, doing business requires continuous investment! Hurry up and transfer me the money! Now!"
I rolled my eyes.
[Is it really an investment in business?]
He became angry and embarrassed. [Of course! What do you mean? If you don't wanna give it to me, then don't! Don't look down upon me! Don't come begging me when I get rich!]
Zack blocked me.
He was so impatient, but at least he had stopped annoying me.
If anyone wanted to give him money, feel free to do so. I wouldn't.
Not long after, my dad called.
In my previous life, my dad called and said he had a serious illness and needed 700,000 dollars for treatment.
After I knew the money would be given to Zack to repay the online loan, I refused. I didn't want to give him any money.
But they forced me to sell the house by threatening to die.
I refused to sell the house, and they accused me of being heartless.
"Dad, do you really need treatment?"
"Of course! Do you think I would curse myself to be sick? Are you going to watch your own father die?"
I smiled and said, "You will do anything for Zack, won't you?"
My dad was angry and said, "Don't make excuses! Sell that house now! What are you thinking? You don't need money at all. Give it to Zack!"
"I would rather throw my money away than give it to Zack."
My parents didn't understand why I suddenly stopped listening to them and refused to be the cash cow for the Hodgson family.
People like them would never be satisfied. Being soft on them was being cruel to me.
Zack just posted a photo on Instagram.
"New friends. They're pretty."
Looking at Zack in the photo hugging two women, I suddenly had an idea.
I called my best friend Clara Potter and told her about the current situation.
"Clara, I'm gonna need you to put on a show with me."
